I was long searching for differences between the KTM Models and also Differences / Upgrades made from one year to another as i am looking at used bikes. Your reviews are the most informative i have found out there. Thank you sir!!
JBernier2000 I just bought a 300XC from them last week. After seeing this video and your comment I went home and checked. Mine were upside down. It may have been this bike.
+John Reynolds haha. Awesome. At least it's a simple fix. Someone at their shop needs some re-training. Enjoy your new bike. I have the 350 exc and love it!!
+pg88corfu mostly just the turn signals and a DOT tail light and emissions evap canister system. I believe the W has shorter gearing than the exc too. I changed mine out to a 13 / 48 from the stock 14/ 45. It was too tall. Probably so it rides at a lower rpm at highway speeds. I'd get the exc again, having the plate just makes the bike more versatile. And gets a higher resale value. At least here in California anyway. Best of luck, either bike is awesome. For another option check out the new Husqvarna 350 their bike is basically a Ktm with different plastics but a couple of nice additions. Like 4cs forks, and a linked rear suspension. Good deals out there since 2016 are arriving now. Get a left over 15' for a steal.
thanks for your reply! may i ask smth else? what are the differences between the 4CS fork on the husqvarna and the open cartridge on the exc? and except for extra weiight what else has the rear linkage suspension has to offer more than the PDS ktm rear susp???? that is all my questions :P but i have really big trouble deciding between the KTM EXC 250 and the BETA RR 250 !!!!!! How would you compare these two???? THANKS IN ADVANCE AND KEEP RIDING ;)
Thanks for the video, I wasn't sure which bike would be best for my riding. I looked at the Honda crf450x, WR450, but the KTM is a sweet bike! I think im sold on the 350 xcfw thanks again!!
usually ask a dealer what the differences and they say the price have no idea what they're selling to you they just want your money and they could care less about what they're selling to you! It's nice to see a dealer that cares and knows the product it just sucks he's all away in Texas lol.
Steviedee supermoto Thats the way all the shops use to be back in the days. The bikes they sold were the bikes that they race on the weekends. I use to spend hours at the Maico & Husqvarna dealer getting all the information to make my bike run tops.
The W has the kickstart where it would hit the tank hard (which would break it 4 sure) when it returns While the other bike has the handguards fitted upside down ! Would you buy a built bike from these people ?? I'll take mine in it's crate thanks !!!
racing bikes have a close-ratio transmission because on a race track you are ideally going full throttle until you hit max horsepower, upshifting, full throttle, upshifting... The jump from 1st to 2nd to 3rd etc is the same number of teeth. 1st gear on a racing bike is tall because you do not need a slow speed gear on a motocross track. Trail bikes use a wide ratio transmission meaning the space between each gear is not the same. You will have a lower 1st gear thats good for riding through trees at a slow pace or climbing up a muddy hill at low speed like an ATV, and you will have a taller 5th or 6th gear better for cruising on dirt roads.
The W has a lower first gear. There is a very small difference between second gear and then third through sixth are identical ratios. So basically, the XC-F has a bit taller first gear and that’s all.
They say the exc is a dirt bike with a license plate I want the best bike for riding off road but legal to ride on the road would it be better for me to buy the exc 350 or buy the xcf w 350 and put street legal kit on it?
The W has the transmission that's well suited for street use, and not many states require turn signals. In Michigan, for instance, all you need is a bill of sale,.with the vin number. Then you have to prove you paid sales tax, you get the green form from the DMV. They will inspect the bike, often coming right to your door. Your bike just needs a headlight with a hi and low beam, some semblance of any kind of horn and mirror, a squeaky horn from a bicycle is fine, and a tailight with a working brake light, that will shine some light on a license plate. You also need proof of insurance. The officer will sign the green form, take that to the DMV, and buy your plate.
It has no battery in it that's why. The XCF-W is essentially an XC-F with a headlight and battery and is slower. The XC-F is mainly meant for track racing but can be taken on trails, it just won't perform as well on trails as the XCF-W. The XCF-W won't perform as well on a track as the XC-F model. The XCF-W is a bit heavier due to the wiring and instruments on the front of the bars and the battery etc. You can get ultralight batteries that weigh less than a pound though. All comes down to if you're a track guy or a woods guy. If you're both you'll have to decide which is best for you.
@@JohnDoe-cx9hv I use the XCF 350 soley for trail riding. I do admit that if the trails get really tight and technical than it is not the best bike as it wants to be revved up and ridden faster. I also had to gear mine down to 52t in the back and still think that it flames out a little bit on technical stuff but you can adjust the TPS to improve this. And yes mine does have a battery.
New friend here 😁 awesome video 👌 thank you for sharing this with us!! Please visit me!! Have a wonderful weekend and God 🙏 bless you and your family 🙏
I've told you once... I'll tell you again... I LOVE your reviews, always reliable information

Great video! You answered every question I had on these. Just so everyone knows the w has a six speed transmission and the f has a five.
And a tail light
👻💅👅👅👅👅👅💋👀👂💀👿👿👃👽💃💃💃👻💅💀💀💀👂👺👺👳💂👮👮👷👷👮👮👤
What a wonder comparison. This was exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you so much for making this video.
Why do KTM Bikes look so damn good? Pure quality!
Can you make the W street legal?
yep
Hand guards are installed upside down on the XCF. Oops
JBernier2000 I just bought a 300XC from them last week. After seeing this video and your comment I went home and checked. Mine were upside down. It may have been this bike.

+JBernier2000 as you are an owner of exc what is the difference between 350 exc and 350 xcf-w ????
+pg88corfu mostly just the turn signals and a DOT tail light and emissions evap canister system. I believe the W has shorter gearing than the exc too. that is all my questions :P
but i have really big trouble deciding between the KTM EXC 250 and the BETA RR 250 !!!!!!

Great job in explaining the two different models
Thanks for the video, I wasn't sure which bike would be best for my riding. I looked at the Honda crf450x, WR450, but the KTM is a sweet bike! I think im sold on the 350 xcfw
thanks again!!
I find it really annoying that KTM official site, doesn't explain at all what is the difference between XC-F, XC-W, and EXC models.
Oxide333500 that’s a marketing scheme gets people to ask about them in the dealership
100% agree with this. I’ve been looking for literally hours and still struggling to understand all the differences
usually ask a dealer what the differences and they say the price have no idea what they're selling to you they just want your money and they could care less about what they're selling to you! It's nice to see a dealer that cares and knows the product it just sucks he's all away in Texas lol.

i would always choose kick start, dont want to take a chance of getting stuck way out because battery gos dead.
Is it true the linked suspension give more traction than the non linkrd PDS?
Why is the xc f hand guards upside down
The W has the kickstart where it would hit the tank hard (which would break it 4 sure) when it returns
While the other bike has the handguards fitted upside down !
Would you buy a built bike from these people ??
I'll take mine in it's crate thanks !!!
So an xcf w is an excf basically?
Excellent vid !!
Q: is the XCF 5 gear and the W 6 gear ?
Thank you
Can you do a comparison between KTM 450 EXC and KTM 450 XC-F, both 2015 models please?
Thanks
is a wider transmision meaning more top speed ? cuz they both have 6 gears just wondering what people mean when they say wider transmision thanks
+savagex466 so it's wide, it's not bunched up and it wont hit as hard as the XCF while the XCFW is more smooth and the power is spreed out more.

Both these bikes have the SAME gear ratios... The W doesn't mean 'wide ratio' anymore...
The W has a lower first gear. There is a very small difference between second gear and then third through sixth are identical ratios. So basically, the XC-F has a bit taller first gear and that’s all.
The w has softer suspension and is ment more for technical trail riding . The W stands for wide ratio transmission and is lower geared
They say the exc is a dirt bike with a license plate I want the best bike for riding off road but legal to ride on the road would it be better for me to buy the exc 350 or buy the xcf w 350 and put street legal kit on it?
Btw your guys input will most likely sway my decision to which one ill get so please help
Get a potato!
Exc
Hey thanks dude
So i have a 2008 xcf450 can i put a kick start on it
How do they vary in price ?!!
Here watching this because I just picked up a 2015 350xcfw and it looks as if it has the 4cs multifunction forks on top
can you do a video on the 2015 Ktm 200exc
*isnt the xcf-w motor de-tuned ?*
+CR2504life no, it's gear ratio is just changed to make it smoother and longer. it's not slower
They don't look, they are very good quality, proud owner of 2 ktms ,I got the 350 xc-w head light ,tail light, turns signals
can both of these bikes be made street legal or only the W?
Trevor Whiting Depends on where your state of residence.
+Mainland Cycle Center
Can Either be made street legal in TX?
Great video. I was wondering what the differences were between these two and now I know 👍
Can you make the W street legal?
5 speed vs 6 speed ?
If you were going to supermoto either one of these, which would be better to do that to?
XCF-W, wider ratio trans, pre-installed headlight and speedometer. All you need is turn signals and a tail light.
Can you make the W street legal?
@@josephfoster30 Yes!

thanks for the great explanation
Great explanation. Thank you.
is it just me or does the cxf seem more slender and graceful looking?

John Doe
the xcf has a battery. it has electric start. no kick starter

Well, you could have said right from the beginning, motocross or enduro riding
the mxbike is the 350sx. this is like enduro riding vs enduro racing.
+Charles “The Hammer” Martel and what about the exc f range?
I got to say i really like your videos☺️ your information is helping me when i am looking for a new bike! (I'm sorry for my bad english)
THANKS...
Sold!
that kickstarter isn't on the bike correctly.
PDS just needs to dissapear then all models would be winners.
nothing wrong wit pds for enduro less weight less maintenance it was only mx that a linkage
sanoshot The PDS system handles better in rocks than linkage.
and EXC-F
That made me more confused
