I was moved to tears watching this video. We all need to support the farmers. They are our food. Imports can be stopped by other countries if and when and they can charge what they want if there is no option
I really appreciate your heartfelt comment! It’s amazing to see how passionate people are about supporting our farmers. Together, we can make a meaningful impact!
Imagine a horrible situation hypothetically your father passes away and you inherit the farm, you have to sell 20% of your farm to pay the tax, then for some reason you pass away your son will end up in the same situation again.. we need to take on our governments head on, it's our land.. Farmers across Europe must unite.. if those recent protests across Europe where joined up our governments would have to listen.. WE HOLD THE POWER, we just need to grasp it.. support from Ireland ✌
A friend’s grandfather dies and the farm went to his wife then shortly afterwards she died and the two sons had to split the remnants but after two lots of Inheritance tax had taken most of it. They did then allow the passing between spouse were exempt but it appears to be going back to the same time. Tax is theft taken from what you work for which is taxed and they want everything from what you worked for.
❤ Absolute Madness, this country just takes takes takes from the hardest working people! Brought tears to my eyes 🥹 seeing the pain in your face Richard. Farmers are the backbone of this country and need to be supported. 💙💙💙
You need to get a life mate, wait till you see kids dying of cancer because they can’t afford £6000 for treatment and your crying because a farmer has to pay tax on anything over a million in two years time? Give your stupid inane head a shake.
Thanks Richard, The whole agricultural supply chain and rural economy are been subjected to unnecessary discrimination on a scale un seen before. The physical and mental strain upon individuals involved is wholly unjustified. My prayers are with all affected, including myself. Keep Britain farming
Its disgusting behaviour by a government not fit for purpose. Look after yourself and family remember you and your family's health is the most important thing in this life .
Thank you for your kind words and support. It’s a difficult time for farmers, but we'll persevere. Your concern for our well-being is appreciated. We'll continue to do our best to take care of ourselves and our families.
Don’t believe you’re alone. Londoners, especially hikers, really admire and respect farmers. Watching and waiting to hear what you want us public to do. Besides eat 3 times a day! No farmers, no food!
Richard I’m not got anything to do with farmers except buy British food only where possible. I support you farmers 100% and if I can do anything to support you all I will. I’m in my late 70s but I feel sorry for any youngsters who would like to carry on the tradition of following in their parents footsteps.
Thank you for your support! It's so important to keep the connection with our farmers strong, and your commitment to buying British food helps sustain that tradition.
Morning Richard I as a retired farm worker really feel for you, these clowns in government won't be there for a full term so look after dad and hopefully you can ride this out, another thought is charge the correct amount for your milk and beef stop importing cheap goods and let us the consumer pay the correct amount again no easy solution atm but all farmers must stick together in this best of luck my friend
Thank you for your kind words and support David. It's encouraging to know that people like you understand the challenges we face. We'll continue to work hard and hopefully ride out this storm. Your advice about pricing and reducing reliance on imports is spot on. We need to work together as an industry to ensure a sustainable future for British farming. Thanks again for your support.
Stay strong Richard you've got a lot of the public on your side Hopefully we can get rid of this hideous government and get a patriotic party in that cares for their own
Hi Richard I feel so sorry for what the government as gone and don with taxing farmers they don't seem to care about business and people i hope they change it so farmers will be able to keep their farms
Well explained 👍🏻 people need to understand all they are trying to do is tax tax tax on everything and don’t let us make any money in our own right or to help out the next generation as farming is worlds away from there way of living in London. Keep positive my friend and all us in all aspects of farming need to stick together and push back
Hey Richard. I’m sorry to hear about how this is affecting you and your family. Across the U.K. farmers have been getting shafted for a while and now it’s got to this stage… It’s ridiculous that due to Government incompetence regular folk need to pay the price. It’s blatant theft as is all taxation. But this inheritance tax is absolutely disgusting. Hopefully my comment helps boost your video. All the best mate.
Richard my heart break for you and all farmers!! My cousins are milk farmers in Ireland. It’s absolutely disgusting and wrong! Pull together for the protest ( if you can). Power is in numbers! All farmers are daily in my prayers 🙏🏻
completely understand your frustration. Those crises were devastating for the farming community. It's disheartening to see similar challenges arise, especially when they seem to be driven by misguided policies. We must stay strong and united.
And that was a hoax - wait till people wake up and understand the truth about that (unlikely as most don't think for themselves) then there really will be pitchforks. Same with TB - not an infectious disease caused by badgers etc (it's caused by toxic exposure which makes cows sick) but gives the government the right to control your farm and drives pharma sales also.
Richard I really feel for you As you know I watch a lot of youtube farmer's, I appreciate it's a way of life, with all the challenges and restrictions thrown at farmer's, at the end of the day a manufacturing business that experiences production increases, pass those costs onto their customers, so they can maintain a profit You guy's are basically told what you can sell your product at regardless of increases or weather conditions, hence your asset was protected from these taxes I fear, from all the recent policies, our government, regardless of political party, it's the civil servants that decide the muppets in parliament are just puppets, having their strings pulled. My point is, with environmental policies, ignoring flooding issues, paying for rewilding or bird feed over human food, passing planning on agricultural land for solar, wind, construction of retail outlets, housing and industrial estates, I fear our government want to demolish farming in favour of imports, so they can get their hands on import taxes God help our food security, knowing we already can't feed our population, if another Ukraine situation were to arise, another conflict, will it be too late to call on our farmer's as we did during WW1 and WW2 The thanks for generations of feeding this country is to kill agriculture I hope NFU will actually UNITE the farmer's to fight this policy but also to explain to the populous what this all means so you get the public backing you all deserve Geoff
Geoff, thank you for your thoughtful and insightful comment. It's disheartening to see the challenges we face as farmers, especially with the increasing regulatory burden and the lack of control over our own livelihoods. You're absolutely right about the impact of environmental policies and the push for renewable energy. While these are important issues, we need a balanced approach that doesn't jeopardize food security. It's frustrating to see farmland being converted for other uses, while farmers are struggling to make ends meet. We, as farmers, are often caught in a difficult position. We're expected to be stewards of the environment, provide food for the nation, and maintain a profitable business. It's a tall order, and the current policies make it even more challenging. I hope that the NFU will continue to advocate for our interests and that the public will support us in our efforts to ensure a sustainable future for British agriculture. Thank you again for your support.
Hi Richard, I am a farmer in a similar situation. We will have to sell land, or take on debt that the farm earning couldn't service. I think it is also worth mentioning all family businesses will also be affected whatever industry they are in. They will also have to sell their businesses, no doubt with job losses.
Non farmer here but I have worked in the industry, I understand exactly how farms work and why this is a big issue. I hope something can be done and I will be supporting you all as much as I can. Stay strong and just see how this plays out over the next few weeks. Food security was a big thing a while back, what happened to that, we all need to eat and if the world goes even madder than it is now with trade restrictions etc or more wars then food imports could dry up, then what happens?? The UK should be able to grow enough food for itself. The last thing we need is to lose all the knowledge that all you farmers have, how crops grow in your area etc etc. This is a huge issue and should be treated as such by those in power.
I really appreciate your understanding and support. It’s people like you who can help amplify the message about the importance of food security and sustainable farming practices.
Great video, they do have a clue how the family farm works, and how the knowledge transfer from generation to generation, it’s stuff that can’t be bought or taught.
Hi Richard. Completely agree with your assessment of politicians. They are all idiots. I work in the UK Oil & Gas sector and Labour are intent on destroying that too!
Coming from a family who has farmed. For the first time I am glad my grandfather has passed away. This would have broken his heart. This is so upsetting, respect for speaking out. This policy has to be cancelled or we lose our food security!

I am so sorry you are having to deal with this, it's so ridiculous. I am appalled at what labour has done. Hopefully, they will see sense and reverse this.
Hi Richard. As a non farmer I sympathise with you babe. I have already written to my MP about this subject. It’s criminal what they are doing yet those that don’t even pay tax at all (*bucks for instance) are laughing at us all.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's important to have these discussions about taxes and how they impact everyone, especially those who have worked hard all their lives.

Here in Ireland we have to do what's known as a green cert, college degree of agriculture in order to avoid paying the inheritance stamp duty.
I am feeling so saddened for you & so bloody annoyed at our stupid government. My Grandfather was a farmer & l remember how hard he worked from dawn to dusk with little personal reward most of his earnings went back into the Farm. I don't think most people realise the cost of tractors, Harvestes etc l would think the farm implements alone would be worth a million.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories about your grandfather. It's stories like yours that highlight the immense dedication farmers have, and I truly appreciate your support!
I can remember my Dad, who was also a farmer telling me the same story about farmers being asked to grow food after the war. He also said British farming standards are much higher that that of abroad. It's such a shame Starmer and his lot are screwing this country up.
It deeply saddens me that farmers are being persecuted for hard work and dedication to our food production. Treating production as a charity is out of order. I value every family working the land. Trying to grow in a garden is so hard, digging, planting and hoping. Raw miilk was what my mom drank. I had no idea how different it is to processed milk. My father & grandfather were butchers, so I met lots of farmers, such wonderful people, always welcomed with cake & cupper. Take politics out of food production. health, & education. Let us raise standards and joy in our population. Respect & love to you. Prayers for all farmers, let this ruling be scrapped. Love to you
Richard thanks for the reply it was a blast I love farming broke my heart seeing our family farm sold my best mate bought it so I can still vist buildings have gone but land and memories are still there what this government is doing is cruel,if I could I'd buy a small farm just like Adrian from I farm we farm a one man set up but in these days you'd have to have no mortgage or rent and the have money to buy cattle and machinery so unless I win the lottery it will never happen and if it did the government would probably tax me for it thanks for sharing your life with us Richard appreciate it mate ❤

Hi Richard, I feel for farmers, all employers and British people that work to earn a living. This budget may work on paper in the government eyes, but in reality the economy will shrink and the UK debt will grow. The way forward, which we can learn from history, is put the Great back in Britain by producing home grown food, make quality products in this country again. Buy British, economy grows, the UK debt shrinks plus Britain has more control of its destiny. The Government need to learn from the high energy cost we all had to pay (still pay) when our imported gas price shot up. The only thing that saved us from higher costs was that 50% of the UK’s electricity comes from UK Solar PV, Wind Farms, Turbines, Farm Anaerobic Digestor Plants and Nuclear Power!
Good luck Richard, from what I’ve seen it looks likes there’s potentially ways round it with proper planning in place but I realise it’s not always that straight forward
Hi Richard, I am a farmer in WALES same as you in grieve by this horrible situation. Yes you smashingly pointed it out, will done you! WE THE FARMERS do not earned COLOSSAL AMOUNT OF CASH!!What we earned goes back to the farm the equipment /machinery we used and bills are chasing if some machineries faulty. The HUGE TAX we have paid every year still not enough for them! YES, where the heck on earth we will get that huge amount of CASH TO PAY for that IHT THE GOVERNMENT asking from us FARMERS! I rented a patch of land so I can put more stocks but if the only option is to sell a patch of land and to think you're giving it away it's depressing!!No holidays just to save money for the farm, works 24/7 and if only this humanly body of a bloody farmer can go on working for 24hours without stopping we surely be doing so just to keep the farm in very well conditioned!!!!! And now this morning as I am going to livestock market my wife hand me £10.00 cash and she said go and eat lovely dinner at the market[as I always go home to eat as I am saving every penny ] before you save it for the farm and if ,it will only be going to an inheritance tax better you used it ,than your just wasting it by giving it away!
@@ydramj3725 wow you’re story about your lunch…. It’s so true. Thank you very much for support for agriculture. The message we have received has been unbelievable it has had me in tears. Every message on here is for all the farming community everywhere.
HI Richard, this government appears to be hell bent on doing away with British agriculture. If they go down the road of importing foods, and it appears that is what they want to do we could be held to ransom by other countries. we could be given good prices at the beginning of the deal and then what could happen !!
the only thing i can advise is that you get advice from a solicitor and your accountant........i would imagine one or two other farmers could be asking advice aswell but there might be a way of avoiding at least some of it. i'm a farmer too but have no kids and my parents passed away several years ago. but it's stressful enough as it is loosing your family members without being lumbered with a rediculous tax bill that you can't pay. they talk about mental health problems being especially bad in the farming community........nice to know the government is doing there bit to put us in a early grave. stay strong mate........one day at a time
I,ve shared your message, I hope the powers that be see it and makes them think because they haven’t put much thought in so far !!! Also don’t apologise, what you said needs saying, this is the greatest threat to agriculture in my lifetime, I,m 69 by the way. To be honest I haven’t been able to settle down to anything since this damn budget was announced, knocks the stuffing out of you.
Thanks Philip. It's a tough pill to swallow, and like you, it's been weighing heavily on me. This definitely feels like a significant threat, and I share your hope that those in power will reconsider. We can't stay silent - your voice and mine matter. Maybe together, with others who feel the same way, we can raise enough awareness to make a difference. In the meantime, know you're not alone. Here's to staying strong and fighting for a better future for British agriculture.
That's them all over my HAPPY FARMER MAY BE NOT SO MUCH TODAY BUT KEEP YOUR CHIN UP MY MATE IF they CAN TAKE WARMTH OF THE OLD PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN PART OF THE BACK BONE OF THE LAND THEY WILL TAKE EVERY THINK OF EVERY BODY AND STILL WANT MORE. 👏🙏.🤙🦊
Thanks for the kind words and support, Little Davey. It’s tough times for farmers, but we'll keep our heads held high and continue to work hard. It’s disheartening to see the challenges we face, but we'll keep fighting for a fair deal for farmers. Your support means a lot.
My heart goes out to you and your family John. Sadly this will not be solved by you selling 20% of the farm to pay the tax because when you sell the property it will be liable to capital gains tax of an additional 40%. same goes for any other substantial asset such as the farm house. With all the Taxes aimed at your family over the generation swop you are looking at 66% as a rough calculation. Coupled with the fact that farmers suffer greatly from suicide cases it boggles the mind why anyone would bind their children into this same profession. I come from a farming family myself and can say there are a few ways to protect some assets to you, but it takes a lot of legal expense and many many years. If your dad is 87, he doesnt have that time left. The farm needs something more drastic perhaps transfer into a trust created direct to the grandson may be possible. You and your dad need to get in to talk to a good reputable solicitor pronto. or a hundred years of toil sweat and blood will be thrown to the dogs. Everyone knows that old saying beware the man with squeaky shoes. Research, learn, get switched on and most important, never ever give in.
Starmer is a big follower of the WEF and will do whatever they want and what they want is no farms in the hands of the public and only food produced by the government. There are already acts in place, brought in without any debate and these basically give the government the rights to grow/produce food in their factories etc, available to view on line
So sorry im a newly retired farmer not really retired as you know thats hard to do. I'm distressed about our future im not sure what to do we won't be able to pas this on.
I am not a farmer but have have spent a major part of my working life involved with farming from a finance point of view. I cannot think of many farms that are able to pay the sort of tax now bandied about on the event of a family member passing away. A part of the farm would have to be sold to pay the tax, reducing the ability of the farm to maintain itself for the future. This will be the death knell of a lot of farms. It would be good to organise a strong protest along the lines of our french cousins eventually hoping that common sense would prevail. If not then I would suggest that the country may well go hungry, realising that there is only a finite amount of cash that can be realised. Hopefully the well known farming union can organise the necessary demonstrations around the country to show the depth of feeling and resolve that will be shown. Let us see…
Richard, more like 54% of food in this country is produced by UK farmers, which makes the "governments" "plans" even more nonsensical. This is a policy of a greedy and envious government.
If you sell your farm they get you for capital gains tax. I cannot understand in these times of potential war the uk is not supporting farmers. We need to be producing are own food. Instead we cover productive land with solar panels and rewilding, its utter bollocks. Farming should be the backbone of this country. Clarkson should be pm
This government needs to take a good look at itself they have no idea what they are doing try to keep smiling and keep your chin up my friend they just won't your land to build houses on for the ones that come over on a boat or in the back of a lorry
Hi rich as you know we went through Bishop Burton back in the 80z , your family has always been very passionate and put all the time And lots of time hours hours and effort on to the farm and how much you and Simon have invested in the robots on the milkling and zero grazing system which works very well for your area you farm and life in ,This Tax what has come along ,will cripple a lot of family farms and bigger farms to . Like the saying is keep Britian Farming and the Red tractor. Has just been replaced with a big stab in back for all your generations of hard work Wake up the UK government and back 🇬🇧 Britain s farms ,
Nick. Thank you very much for your supporting British farming. It ironically. My dad is in hospital with chest pains. You couldn’t make this situation up. He is ok just being monitored. Thanks again for supporting British agriculture. We must catch up soon. 👍
The talking pieces for Labour such as LBC's O'brien, seem to think it is unearned inheritance when, in reality it is a paper reward for countless unpaid hours.
There must be Lots of Ways Around this ?What about Putting the Farm in a Trust ?Or A limited Company And Just Change Who is at the Top When Needs be. The Last lot were useless as well Dont Forget !!They Cost US all in Lots of ways,And None of them ever care about all the things they do that are wrong.
I'm 5th Gen in north cumbria, grandad and dad passed in. 2009/2010. I was working in another sector and had to go part time to save our farm for the future. I'm a 25% partner with my ageing mother, but all my farm income goes back to the farm, I was hoping my kids could create a future from this, but with the house and farm buildings valued at 1 mill. (Coz of richer people buying things up) then 130 acres on top, I'll need to find 200k/300k to pass this on. Impossible.. the land will be bought by big conglomerates/internationals or whatever. End of a century.... at least I have a pension?? Own nothing and be happy....
I am not an expert, but on a £5m farm for a married couple, wouldn't the first £3m would be tax exempt (£1m for married couple IHT allowance inc. home, £1m each for farmer IHT) when both die. So that leaves £2m liable for IHT at 50% tax relief = 20% of £2m = 400k. You can pay this over 10 years (with interest added) = 40k a year + interest (not sure what the interest rate is?). It is still a stupid tax though and it will have a detrimental affect on UK farmers. It is basically a Jeremy Clarkson tax even though it only applies to a working farm (2yrs+).
I own a family business and we are in the same situation. The point is that big business is not owned by private individuals and won’t pay IHT. This means this is a tax JUST on family businesses. British family businesses that are the fabric of our country. I feel so sorry for you and us. It’s disgusting!
Just found your channel and subscribed.. so so sorry to all that have been affected by this corrupt government, I wish you all well and I hope this gets overturned although I think this government will just railroad over our great British farmers, I'm not a farmer but I have worked on my cousin's farm on a Saturday for the last 40 years and it can be tough going. I'm wondering can you not sell your farm to your son for a very small amount of money!! Just a thought.
The first responsibility of Government is the security of it's citizens. If the small farmers are driven out of business our food security will be very badly impacted and the UK will become vulnerable to whomever we import our food from. Do you trust the EU, the USA or countries even less friendly to not use our vulnerability against us? This will come back to bite us in the a$$. Mr Silliband is wanting to make the UK net zero (which is, in itself, making the UK uncompetitive as we're doing it before everyone else although it seems that his brother will profit very nicely) how is moving all food production hundreds if not thousands of miles away going to help with that?
You raise some very valid points about food security and the potential risks involved in relying on imports. It's crucial for the government to prioritize the stability of local agriculture to ensure the well-being of its citizens.
Richard they don't want farmers anymore it's not right what this shower of shits have done I'm from a dairy farming background grew up on my grandads farm working on our 100 acre farm lancaster way,in 70s 80s90s I'm in construction now but I'd love to of taken our farm over but my uncle sold up cos of my auntie being a townie and spending all the money in the house my uncle told my mum he wished he'd let me take over Richard I would of loved it I miss the farm so much even at 55 years old left when I was 28 I miss it so much so many happy memories farming is way of life love your videos I wish you all the best this government has to go mate
It's heartwarming to hear about your connection to farming and the fond memories you have. It's a tough situation, and I appreciate your perspective. Man, I feel you! Farming must’ve been a blast, and it's a bummer about your uncle selling up. But hey, those memories will always be yours!
It's crippling, I work on a farm and I know the farmer works 14hr days . Another point is after your days does you're son have to pay 20% inheritance tax aswell ??? And after your sons days Do your grandchildren have to pay , so on so on , till at the end you've handed them your farm . Sad ..
Coming from a long generation of farmers myself I can see this new taxation causing a domino effect down future generations to the extent that all farms will be smallholdings. The general public and the powers that be seem so oblivious to food security and how fragile it can be considering all the conflict in the world. Such as Ukrainian wheat and sunflower, not to mention the fruit & veg from Isreal. My own grandparents were heavily involved with food production in WW2 even going to the lengths of plowing public parks in Harrogate and Leeds to grow cereals and potatoes . So you don’t have to look too far back to see how desperate they need you when the s..t hits the fan. It’s going to involve a lot of clever tax lawyers to help with this if it can’t be reversed or heavily revised somehow. Good luck to you all.
Farms just need passed on to the next generation early, there is no inheritance tax if you give it to your son and you live for 7 years, so passing it on at 60 in name will put a stop to most of this
The tax is not wrong, where the threshold is though, £4 million for example, you have 7 years tax planning available to you same as I have. Either way, the cap doffing daily fail types will carry on supporting non doms and billionaire tax avoidance.
Everyone else has to pay it why not farmers ? Farmers nil rate band is 1 million and 20% tax - ours is £325,000 and 40% tax ... just for one moment farmers think about how WE feel about IHT. IHT should be 3-5 million nil rate band across the board if it can be justified at all that is. The tax forces us all to sell in order to pay it.
Whats happens if you bury your family members on the farm land and make part of it a cemetery like the church one they have buried loved ones would that make your farm dynistic wealth? And then like the Church it would be tax free indefinitely? Also what would happen if you deregistered your farm it would prevent the government from inposing anymore taxes. I'm studying the difference between the legalese government and the natrual common law. To register a house, land, vechile, it means to give up. I would look in to the blacks law and the strawman birth certificate. I'm not adviser or any kind of professional but my research has shown me that government of the U.K are a corporation and that the house of parliament is a house commerce. We're tied to the birth certificate the starwman until we claim our title back.
Hold your. Head. My advice. Give them something. A small amount every month. Draw them out. I would worry. That. It could. Effect your health. If you give them. A small amount. Every month they can’t say you didn’t pay
Labour what have you done!!! Decisions made by idiots who have no idea about farming. As Jeremy Clarkson says - stick it out for 5 years and this lot will be gone. Hopefully this will be reversed. Good luck with everything
Hi I am a small farmer , I have 3 grown children I would have loved one of them to have come on the farm but thank god none of them have . I am only 60 acres so may be out side the tax . But you can't afford to buy any machinery to farm 60 acres so when I pass on [74] the farm will I expect become a reweeding[rewilding] none food producing mess.

❤ Absolute Madness, this country just takes takes takes from the hardest working people! Brought tears to my eyes 🥹 seeing the pain in your face Richard. Farmers are the backbone of this country and need to be supported. 💙💙💙

Well said and explained Richard, I,m a farmer as well. It’s disgusting, they’re trying to sabotage our own industry, madness !!!
Thanks for the support, Philip. It's good to know we're not alone in this fight. We'll continue to work together to protect our industry
Please consider who will gain?
Not the small man I gamble
I can see the stress and sadness in your face, god bless you and all family farmers
Thank you for your kind words! It’s definitely a tough journey, but we’re grateful for the support from viewers like you.
Thanks Richard,
The whole agricultural supply chain and rural economy are been subjected to unnecessary discrimination on a scale un seen before.
The physical and mental strain upon individuals involved is wholly unjustified.
My prayers are with all affected, including myself.
Keep Britain farming
We need farmers they work so hard. We are all behind you..
Well said, Richard! Please keep us updated. It made me and hubby so angry with the government!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's heartwarming to see appreciation for farmers, and your support means a lot.
Very very well said richard.
It's absolutely bloody disgusting
I hope the government reverse what they have to the farmers
Let’s hope their decision-makers can hear the corn in the fields whispering for justice!
Hope it works out for you fella. Very good video, well explained to the public.
Richard, I'm shocked at what they've decided, so wrong I hope things change and farms are saved from this injustice.
Good luck with everything you are doing amazing job
Thank you so much! Your support means a lot to us.
Best of luck Richard. Hope it gets sorted very soon
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate your support and hope for a quick resolution too.
Across the U.K. farmers have been getting shafted for a while and now it’s got to this stage…
It’s ridiculous that due to Government incompetence regular folk need to pay the price.
Keep going Richard and good luck 👍
Well said its hard to stomach . I remember all the pain and anguish the bse and foot and mouth crisis did to my parents and for what
completely understand your frustration.
Richard I really feel for you
As you know I watch a lot of youtube farmer's, I appreciate it's a way of life, with all the challenges and restrictions thrown at farmer's, at the end of the day a manufacturing business that experiences production increases, pass those costs onto their customers, so they can maintain a profit
You guy's are basically told what you can sell your product at regardless of increases or weather conditions, hence your asset was protected from these taxes
I fear, from all the recent policies, our government, regardless of political party, it's the civil servants that decide the muppets in parliament are just puppets, having their strings pulled. My point is, with environmental policies, ignoring flooding issues, paying for rewilding or bird feed over human food, passing planning on agricultural land for solar, wind, construction of retail outlets, housing and industrial estates, I fear our government want to demolish farming in favour of imports, so they can get their hands on import taxes
God help our food security, knowing we already can't feed our population, if another Ukraine situation were to arise, another conflict, will it be too late to call on our farmer's as we did during WW1 and WW2
The thanks for generations of feeding this country is to kill agriculture
I hope NFU will actually UNITE the farmer's to fight this policy but also to explain to the populous what this all means so you get the public backing you all deserve
Geoff
I have already written to
my MP about this subject. It’s criminal what they are doing yet those that don’t even pay tax at all (*bucks for instance) are laughing at us all.
It’s disgusting
We won’t stand for it God bless
I'm sorry to hear it its not fair on people like you your are such a nice man my heart bleeds for you Richard
Thanks Rich.
I hope things change before it all gets signed off permanently.
Well said Richard, I’m a pensioner and on a meagre pension. I worked all my life and paid all my taxes, so it’s pathetic that your tax is disgraceful.
Love to you
The most valuable asset is muck, where there's muck there's brass? Keep going you're amazing. Love in oceans
I hear you! If only there was a lottery for farm ownership-imagine all of us farmers rolling in hay bales instead of cash!

Well said, sad and terrible times we are going into.
Thanks for the support and advice, Caroline. We’re exploring all options to navigate these challenging times. Your optimism is appreciated.
Can see your pain … hope it works out well for you!!!!
Putting more stress on the Farmers same here in Ireland these people want full control and if you control food you control the people.
Good luck mate
Wish you all the luck in the world.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Richard. hope labour comes to there sences..
@yorkshirefarming no worries my friend. 🤙🦊
YES CORRECT, NOT FORGETTING HIGH TREASON CHARLES WHOS IN THE WEF DEEPLY.
Heartbreaking 💔
Taxes never go away despite a change of executive. They get used to the income and rarely change.
So sorry im a newly retired farmer not really retired as you know thats hard to do. I'm distressed about our future im not sure what to do we won't be able to pas this on.
Remember that Bill Gates visited number 10 only a matter of weeks ago
And BLACKROCKS LARRY FINK!!!!
Good luck Richard yours Philip
Has just been replaced with a big stab in back for all your generations of hard work
Wake up the UK government and back 🇬🇧 Britain s farms ,
Nick. Thank you very much for your supporting British farming. It ironically. My dad is in hospital with chest pains. You couldn’t make this situation up. He is ok just being monitored. Thanks again for supporting British agriculture. We must catch up soon. 👍
I support you 💪
The talking pieces for Labour such as LBC's O'brien, seem to think it is unearned inheritance when, in reality it is a paper reward for countless unpaid hours.
Just what can be said government there no way you can fight them .
I wonder how many farmers who were whining about the torys and voted labour are willing to stand up and admit they did now, my guess, zero....
Farmers need to realise their power & call a General strike..
Hi Richard
Dont stop fighting. These idiots will be out in five years then another herd of idiots will take over
Good luck Richard
Regrettably that next herd! are unlikely to change a tax as it forms a cornerstone to the budget.
Tax and death etc.
Very sad. Bloody liebour beers of luck Richard
It is every patriot's duty to actively resist his enemy stealing money from him. Employ creative accountancy.
And after your sons days
Do your grandchildren have to pay , so on so on , till at the end you've handed them your farm . Sad ..
Farmers have been shafted by the Labour government because if you sell your farm, then you have capital gains tax
Stop noticing who is behind Ukraine and Israel.
It gets worse, sell the farm and they will take 40%
They are doing to farmers as they did to the miners, get rid and buy from abroad
there has to be a way to kick back??
Difference Stephen is if you had similar value of assets they would be luxury type assets not assets essential to put bread on your table
You make a valid point about the thresholds and planning opportunities. It's definitely a complex topic that deserves more discussion!
😢Could you 'sell' to family ? Or keep and rent out pieces of land to others as allotments?
What if the farm was put into a community trust (food security) but remains in the care of the farmer's family. Is this possible?
Everyone else has to pay it why not farmers ? Farmers nil rate band is 1 million and 20% tax - ours is £325,000 and 40% tax ... just for one moment farmers think about how WE feel about IHT. IHT should be 3-5 million nil rate band across the board if it can be justified at all that is. The tax forces us all to sell in order to pay it.
To Tear Starmerhis promise of the Nfu conference who said he wouldn’t touch farms never believe this Lot again
