I remember watching this as it aired. I live in the UK and tuned in to watch Steve Vai. After seeing SRV, he instantly became my favourite guitarist. He still is to this day. So sorely missed. RIP Stevie.
Eric Clapton said of SRV that he made people who had never played guitar want to pick one up and made those who had played for years want to just give it up!
Stevie is so likable. He was humble and kind, no matter where he was or what he was doing. His bandmates can attest to that. He never acted like he deserved big star treatment. It comes thru in this intimate setting. Glad we had him, if only for a short time. His reward must be great.🙏🎸
I almost gave it up after listening to Steven Stills playing Black Queen... been at it for 50 years, and I think I finally got a handle on it. Stevie was also almost responsible for me surrendering after I was part of the Elmacombo audience in TO and hanging out too much at Jeff Healey's club drownding my sorrows after crappy lunch hour busking at Wellesley and Younge subway station.
Besides the strength and depth of his blues the other things that always get me are Stevie's unmatched speed, accuracy, and OMG the stamina to play that hard that fast for that long...Add to that talent the fact that he put himself through hell, then crawled back out of the drug and drink hole and still was just a down to earth, humble human being... What a guy...!!! I saw a show at Fitzgerald's in Houston as a kid and it's on TH-cam... Over 2 hours in a small room and it was the first night with Tommy Shannon on bass... Give it a listen even if you can't react to it due to length.
@L33Reacts All of Stevie's live tunes are top notch and from his heart "real time". Life Without You (Capital Theater) is a total spiritual magical experience!
Not easy on a twelve string. Amazing. His voice is so rich and bluesy. Thanks Lee. Always respected SRV, but now I really dig him, thanks to your reactions and focus.
I am the “someone” who suggested it lol. I am glad you chose to check it out. I was fortunate enough to see him 6 times in concert. He absolutely tore your face off for an hour and a half. You left exhausted. I cried my eyes out the day he passed.
I remember when I was trying to cop some of those funk chords from this when I was first learning how to play guitar. It felt very satisfying/inspiring and I could lose myself in it.❤
🙌👏🎶💯. Hey Lee👋 I know I was at least one of the people who suggested this one last time. He borrowed that 12 string to do that performance and he cracked the neck‼️💯. The owner of the guitar was offered a bunch of money to buy it and is on display in some restaurant. The owner has since regretted selling it! More must watch and no blocking problems, is his Soundcheck - what? It is a behind the scenes look at a 3 song, multiple guitars Soundcheck where Stevie just woke up, rubbing his eyes and yawning, then straps in and takes off. I'll come back with the link. Another different one is playing Pipeline with his older brother Jimmie. They are both playing a double neck guitar and you won't believe your eyes. A whole body of work yet to be discovered and I'll be here for all of it🎸🎶‼️💯 Thanks for Stevie Ray Sundays👌✌️🎸🎶‼️ Edited to post link~ his Soundcheck has over 23 million views💯. How many soundchecks have that many views? I'll wait... th-cam.com/video/grBmQwLSlDw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1WiDtPsCZmoDigl7
Arc angels band was created after Stevie died. Band consisted of Charlie sexton, double trouble and doyle bramhall II (son of Stevies writing partner) living in a dream is great song to check as well
Love this! You must watch Mary had a Little Lamb at Austin City Live. It also has some great keys in it by Reese but SrV’s performance is out of this world. Another great performance is Dirty Pool live in Montreux 1982 where he does a long session of Tremolo Strumming which is incredible! Love your reactions ❤
Love watching your SRV reactions! It doesn't look like you've done Tin Pan Alley with legend and inspiration Johnny Copeland at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I'm sure you'd love it! Thanks so much for sharing a love of music. I cried after seeing your response the song Guinevere by Crosby, Stills and Nash. It was magical when I first heard at 13 years old in 1969.
😀 I dig what you said man. Hey L33eacts, check his playing on "Leave My Girl Alone" from Austin City Limits when he was clean. About the same time as this video. Guitar work is real cool and killer.
Please do Stevie's presidential inauguration video. Its abt 26 mins. Jimmy his brother the band and another blues guy! Stevie was on fire in his tux. Its on yt and ive seen different pieces taken from it. But to watch the whole vid doesn't seem like 26 mins. Its sooo gd. You can see he felt honored to be on tht national platform with his crew and big brother
The last song is one of his early showcase songs named “Testify”. He used to play it often, and he played an electric version at El Mocambo, which is definitely worth seeing if you haven’t. Also “Mary Had a Little Lamb” the way he originally played it, and a cover of Hendrix’s “Little Wing”, which is maybe the most beautiful, stunning, unsettling thing he ever did that was caught on film. Most of his performances weren’t recorded. Film was fairly expensive to buy and develop, and it took up space. Stevie’s El Mocambo set was recorded because the cameraman was learning to use the camera to film a later show.
Have you seen the “new” footage that has turned up from the El Mocambo show? It shows the audience more than anything. Maybe you’ll see yourself in the footage
Mtv unplugged session. 1990 was year he got killed in helicopter crash. Stone temple pilots also did great unplugged mtv session as well. Need to do Cold shot video by srv
Stay with MTV and the tremendous SRV & Stevie Wonder video doing "Superstition"... with Jodie Whatley, Salt n' Peppa, and a bunch of others (the bass player is almost as cool as SRV.) SRV is in a cape, for freaks sake....and this thing rocks so hard....
Think you'd love "Stevie Ray Vaughan Guitar Lesson" - its an interview with a bunch of playing live, but also he discusses his recovery and it is such a classic SRV insight... th-cam.com/video/SZoX6Q0UK8A/w-d-xo.html This vid right here is another ornament on the XMAS tree of greatness that is MTV Unplugged. Just like he played those .13 Guage strings on his Strat like it was nothing, the way he effortlessly blows through this set on a 12-String (takes some real extra level finger/hand strength to hold the strings down and sustain your tone)....how he just plows right into "Rude Mood" is unforgettable...very rare and limited music of SRV on acoustic, so this MTV Unplugged is a true treasure....sadly he near the end of his life here, but further proof you don't need those drugs or whatever to be good - in fact you are even better without. Sounds familiar as he played it on that Montreaux clip from last week as part of his opening medley. RIP SRV, thanks so much for the vid! Peace/
I have a feeling Stevie’s got a connection with you, too!❤ Have you done “Mary Had a Little Lamb” from the Austin 1989 show? 🔥 th-cam.com/video/WWU6hpPJG_c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vVqDArKke5mEIPqH
I don’t know this for a fact so take it lightly, rumor was that the 12 string was borrowed from someone and it went home with a cracked neck. True or false I don’t know but I would love to own it lol
Yes I read he cracked the neck and sold to a restaurant that offered him a ton of money for it. Think the restaurant still displays it and the guy regrets selling it!

Absolutely the truth!
This was my first introduction to Stevie Ray Vaughan. I was like, we are going to be checking some more of this out. I was not disappointed. Lol.😂❤

Maybe he was allowed to leave early because he figured it out, got to skip a couple of grades, and graduated. I hope so.

To do what he does on an Acoustic guitar is incredible, let alone he’s playing a 12 string at that speed! I miss Stevie Ray Vaughan

"Life without you "at the capital theater is the most incredible , all his songs are amazing. Great reaction man 🙏
I'll have to do that one next week. I'll try and remember lol thank you 😊

The smile at 11:16 🤧🤧 so good to see him smile. Good to know he was truly happy before he got taken from this world. 😢
It was great discovering SRV years ago and as a recovering alcoholic and addict have so much respect and empathy for a great human being
I am the “someone” who suggested it lol. I am glad you chose to check it out. I was fortunate enough to see him 6 times in concert. He absolutely tore your face off for an hour and a half. You left exhausted. I cried my eyes out the day he passed.
As great a guitar player as he is, it's his singing that blows me away.
Dude moves fast on a 12 string. Ouch. Snap-On tool fingers.
He lived to play the guitar guitar. I don’t know how to describe it better. I’m sure he had an ax in the bathroom. Full commitment and dedication.
Another great Stevie Sunday! Thanks L33! ❤
Thanks for watching Richard! Glad you enjoyed 🙂🙂 this was incredible.
My favorite day of the week, Stevie Sunday❤️❤️❤️
The first day is the best day 😉🙂
Love a good shuffle!! For all you youngsters... AND A GOOD BREAKDOWN BY GOLLY

Put a cherry 🍒 on top of that one GOAT!!
Somebody needs to play “Life By The Drop”!
I would recommend next "Ain't gonna give up on love" live from Daytona Beach. Unbelievable performance!
Lol sometimes people that can do stuff like that are... Different
Love watching your SRV reactions!

1990! I don't remember exactly but within months of him getting on that helicopter😡

@@SchtinkFinga No, I haven’t, but I’d sure like to.
Can you imagine being the guy that had to follow him?
That night, that was one Joe Satriani 😳

Fabulous!!

First one "scuddle Buttin"
Please do Stevie's presidential inauguration video. Its aby 26 mins. Jimmy his brother the band and another blues guy! Stevie was on fire in his tux
The other guitarist you saw for a second in the back was Joe Satriani! His performance on there was pretty good as well.

Lee - Look for the 'VH1 Legends' on Stevie here on yt.. Well worth seeing- dives into his life. You'd like it.
Wish I was going to be at the premier for this :)

I suggest you look into the acoustic performance of Al Di Meola. You won't be disappointed.
I think that was RUDE MOOD.
Another guitarist my ass!
Have you seen his sound check?
I actually have, I think. I did a whole video for it, not knowing it was just his sound check lol
@@L33ReactsI've seen all your Stevie reactions and unless it is on your patreon channel, you haven't seen it and you should 🎶🎸‼️
Sub'd for SRV
I was at work so I set the timer to record it on VHS the night it aired. I still have the VHS.
