    The author, Dahl, was a veteran who spent all of his childhood in abusive boarding schools and homes. He lived through all sorts of adults that hurt and mistreated children, as well as many other difficulties. When he was older he decided to write all these fantastical stories about kids who were saved in some way or another by magical and wonderous things. His books have always been escapes for children in tough times to imagine and hope for a better future.
    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an example of this. :)
    Although people love the original, this one is more faithful to the source. In his books the adults and other kids tend to be creepier, scarier, and meaner. With a good adult here or there as an amazing example of a "hero". As he had wished he had.

    I'm surprised by the number of people who like this movie, as everywhere else I look is full of people who hate it, despite it not being a remake of the Willy Wonka version, rather another adaptation of the original book, and being more faithful to it to boot. There changes that were made were approved the the author's wife. In my opinion, this is a better movie than the other adaptation, with the only part of the other adaptation that's better being the performance of Gene Wilder. Of course, this is just my opinion.

    Another great reaction that made the film more enjoyable! Personally I like this version and the original 1971 release for different reasons. The original is more realistic while this one is absolute fantasy (more imaginative and loyal to the book). But I still enjoy both of them and the original is also worth checking out. :)

      Most remakes are trash, epecially in the past 20 years (complete trash). This is a golden exception. They were very respectful to the original material, which shows in the quality of the new version.

    The 2005 is BUCKET loads better than the 1971 version (no pun intended). It’s a more faithful adaption, and better songs, and more beautiful visuals overall. It’s impressive for 2005

    • @mrreyes5004
      @mrreyes5004 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed! I would cut the 1971 movie some slack because it had a way smaller budget, so it literally couldn't afford awesome visuals. Especially because the 2005 movie had access to newer technology that wasn't invented in the 1970's. But yeah, the 2005 is better in pretty much every way. It has songs straight from the books (AKA not repeating the same song over and over), the characters are more fleshed out, and Willy Wonka's added backstory gives a lot more depth to him than in the 1971 version and it shows how Charlie helps him grow from his past.

    I love this movie. Of course I love Johnny Depp, so therefor everything he's in, but, still, great movie! A couple of my favorite moments is Willy yeeted the business card over his shoulder and also every time he ran into the glass elevator. Freddie Highmore (Charlie) went on to play Norman Bates in a show called Bates Motel. He's phenomenal in it! Looks and acts just like a young Anthony Perkins. I highly recommend it!

    Tim Burton movies i highly recommend:
    Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder)
    Batman (Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger)
    Batman Returns (Michael Keaton, Danny Davito, Michelle Pfeiffer)
    Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder)
    Tim Burton's considered the master of goth for film making. 🎥🖤 He likes to work with actors he gets along with. Which is why you see Michael Keaton and Johnny Depp in a lot of his films.

    Wow I love the original Willy Wonka movie as an iconic classic I grew up watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and to be honest both are amazing films that embody both of the time they were made why we love the original for being iconic realistic the Tim Burton version is more accurate to the books and and more contemporary for the Modern Age plus it gives us Willy Wonka's backstory that we never got in the original movie

Probably would have hated it to 😅 respect to Roald Dahl though. Depps performance was a little over the top but still a great movie

    you talked about this being one long commercial for Willy Wonka chocolate. Actually, when they made the first version of this movie it was suppose to be released at the same time as they released the Willy Wonka bar at stores for sale, should have been a great tie in to the movie. Unfortunately, they had problems getting the recipe right, so the chocolate release was delayed until after the movie had already premiered.
