Jerry trying to imitate "The Claw" is one of the most painful things I've ever seen.
The guy is a great actor though. And I liked that the character wasn't any sort of villain, he really was a good human being.

Yeah that’s a similar approach Mrs. Doubtfire takes with Pierce Brosnan in that what makes him threatening is that he’s kind of perfect.

30:31 People say that when Fletcher looks at Cole he's seeing what's happening to him, that his son is being taken away from him like Cole's kids are being taken away from him. But the difference between Cole and Fletcher is that Cole is actually fighting for his kids, and regardless of the custody hearing his kids will know that he loves them and they will love him back. Fletcher has squandered every chance he's had to be with his son. Though he loves Max he's never shown it. And if he knows that if he keeps acting like he has been Max won't love him much longer and that he'll have no-one to blame but himself.
Yeah, as much as I love how Fletcher sees that he damaged the Cole family, the fact that they give him a happy ending kind of ruins the narrative. I would have preferred if the movie ends with Audrey and Jerry staying a couple, but choosing not to go to Boston so Fletcher can finally learn to be the father he should've been to Max. It would fit way more with how cynical this movie's themes are, but show that Fletcher has finally learn to be more honest for his son.
God, what an absolute joy, 8:45 the moment when they realize the premise of the movie. It's so enjoyable to watch people come to these classic movies completely blind and discover them for the first time. Ya'll are great.

I couldn't push play fast enough when I saw you guys were reacting to this movie! It's one of my favorites starring comedic genius Jim Carrey! Aside from it being so hilarious, it has so much heart and is such a feel good story.
"Dumb and Dumber" would be a good next choice too.
I'd also like to see the reaction to "the Cable Guy" which is actually a great movie but very different Jim Carrey.

Anne Haney played the secretary. She also played the employment agent opposite Robin Williams in "Mrs. Doubtfire." Can you imagine getting to act opposite both Robin Williams and Jim Carrey in your career? Having to stand there and keep a straight face, take after take? Two manic ad-libbers!! The energy of each of those guys in their prime was out the roof!

This was one of the few VHS tapes I picked up as a kid. We watched the hell out of it. My sisters and I could quote the entire thing. "The pen is blue!" scene still gets quoted lol. Glad you watched it.

Jim carry’s family (Father, Mother, sister) used to live out of a car next to a factory where his father worked.
Jim Carry Used to do facial expressions in the rear view mirror of some of his favorite actors. One line in particular was the Dirty Hairy Line played by Clint Eastwood
“Go Ahead, Make My Day” which he used in his own movie Bruce Almighty!
I'll always love the "I'M JOSE CANSECO! I'M JOSE CANSECO!" when he's dragged away. Because remember, he can't lie. So he in truth is Jose Canseco.
I love this movie. It's probably my favorite Jim Carrey film. Hilarious and with a good message. I actually identify with the kid in this movie a lot, because my dad was like Fletcher. He was divorced from my mom when I was this kid's age, and my dad was witty and a lot of fun when he was around, but he wasn't around often because he was all about work. Unfortunately my dad didn't learn the lesson of this character and we ended up losing touch over the years. Especially since he was living in another state for most of my adolescence.

This movie came out in 1997. The rules for people on an Taxi Way at an air port are WAY different now! He would be on a No Fly List for a VERY long time if he was lucky.

I grew up loving Jim Carry. Movies like The Mask, Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Liar Liar... these movies made up my young teenage years.
I always got told I look like Jim Carry from Liar Liar if I actually do my hair.
I remember seeing this movie in the theaters with my friends. Sometimes I couldn't breathe I was laughing so damn hard. Loved your reactions!

Miranda set him up in the boss's office, and the boss just thinks he is a comedy genius doing a roast! Then last, but not least, Fletcher called her a SLLLUUUUUTTTT! Her face was priceless when he did! He just laughed so hard in her face!

In the court scene the fact that Mrs. Cole lied about her age would not win her the case, in fact it would make things worse. First of all while a minor cannot legally enter into a contract, if they do so anyway they only have a small window, usually about 6 months, after they turn 18 to cancel the contract or it goes into full effect. Secondly, after admitting that she lied about her age to get married that would give Mr. Cole sufficient cause to have the marriage annulled which would prevent the prenuptial agreement from being enforceable and she would be entitled to nothing.

Fun Fact: Jim Carrey makes a secret cameo experience as Fire Marshall Bill and can be seen in the background during the scene after the accident at the airport.

The little boy in this movie is the kid who stars in Home Alone 3. A young Scarlet Johansson plays his sister. Home Alone 3 is actually pretty funny and well acted and filmed.

When you look at all the very gifted comedians, Carey can REALLY act and take it to 11 without over acting which is very hard to do. Look at his movies and his diction and facial expressions and all that 101 stuff is just so good.

I saw this movie in the theaters. It was right when I got my driver's license and it was my 1st unsupervised date with my 1st girlfriend. As much as I was interested in her, the movie was too good and too funny not to pay attention to it, lol.

Justin Cooper, the kid who plays Max, was actually around 8-9 years old (born in 1988) when this movie filmed and released in theaters (1996-97).
I'm glad this movie's life has extended well beyond 1997. It really is a classic, one of my favorites ever. :)

Jim Carrey is Ariana Grande's hero. She got to meet him when Barack Obama was President and were both invited to the White House. She started to cry when Jim walked over to her and said hello. Jim didn't know what to say because she was crying and told her to "be nice" in a funny way and she still couldn't stop crying. Jim has a daughter that may be a fan of Ariana so that may be the reason Jim went over to introduce himself. Their meeting wasn't long because Ariana just couldn't keep it together for their meeting. Fans of Ariana know she does impressions of other singers. Jim and all his impersonations must have inspired her.

The kid is in another 90s' movie called One Fine Day (1997) with Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney. That's a nice easy going, comedy movie that I would recommend.

At this stage in Jim Carey's life I had seen all the movies that put him in the spotlight. Even to this day I feel THIS was hands down one of his BEST performances. The fact that his hair and make up are rather average compared to many of his other roles where they're over the top. Yes, HE'S over the top himself in this movie, but it's more a showcase of Jim Carey trying to keep control rather than just causing chaos as usual.

I would recommend *_Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls_* which is funnier than the first film, and also *_The Cable Guy_* which is possibly one of his most underrated films. And maybe even *_How the Grinch Stole Christmas_* what with Christmas approaching soon. *;D*
Fun Fact: Swoosie Kurtz was named after a bomber. Her father Frank Kurtz was a B-17 pilot in the Pacific who flew a Fortress named "The Swoose;" half swan, half goose.

great reaction, one of my favorite comedy/love/family movies.
The first film I think he did was called I think, Once Bitten. He played a virgin high school guy, and supermodel Lauren Hutton, was the head vampire and she needed his Virgin blood to stay young. He wasn't totally crazy acting back then, but showed a few flashes, and it was a funny movie! He did a very scary movie where he was obsessed with the number 23, and he did a really dark movie about being a cop in post Soviet era, tracking down a killer in Bulgaria or Czechoslovakia, I think.
I'm really loving your Jim Carry reactions. After you watch 'Ace Ventura 2', 'Dumb and Dumber', 'The Cable Guy' movies there are a few more where you see another side to him.
By the end of 'The Truman Show', 'Man On The Moon' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' he'll have you all in floods of tears. Jim Carry is absolutely amazing.

This is great. I grew up loving this movie without even knowing the all the jokes as a kid. Its been so long since ive seen the movie again at 29, and seeing these women all with different heritages, around my age, and watching for the first time, was something I didnt know i needed to see.

Actually "Miss Cole" would get nothing as the marriage it self would be invalid. Because minors also need parental consent just to marry. She would only get child support if she got majority custody.
OK... But the rest of the movie is in sinc with reality? It's a movie, Superman can't actually fly, McFly can't travel back in time, Rocky would have got the ish beaten out by Drago, Rambo would have been shot, and Harry Potter isn't a nerdy wizard, but just nerdy.
I remember watching this movie in the cinema with my brother and we laughed so much that we ruined the movie for almost 2 hours. It's the best memory I have of us to together before he died. "Liar Liar" will always have a special place in my heart.

A lot of folks who know about Jim Carrey's past on the tv show In Living Color don't realize one of his characters on that show is in the scene where he is lying on the gurney. If you watch you'll see Fire Marshal Bill talking on a cell phone wearing a red fire helmet and yellow jacket right behind Fletcher when he's talking to an official.

This movie is great, but I think they should release a version without the background music, because it's so loud and sometimes annoying, anyway a few years ago I read online that "Yes Man" is some sort of spiritual sequel to this one, and also is very fun too

I know you're not familiar with Jim Carreys career outside the couple movies, but he's been a legendary comedian and actor for almost 30 years. So glad you're getting to experience his skills but there is SO much more to his career.
