There was actually a factory manual Monte Carlo SS, but it was only available for the Mexican market (1984 only) in very limited numbers. If I remember correctly it was a 350 with a 4 speed combo. Also it had a Grand Prix dashboard.
I used to have an 88 SS, was thinking about finding another one and came across your channel. I like what you've done with the car and manual swapping will make it like a totally different car! Nice work!
Installing a short-shifter next? Got a Pro 5.0 on the NWC-T5 in my Iroc, bolts right in and is cheap compared to other shifters. Made rowing through the gears bliss.
The monte Carlo was offered with a Manual transmission in México... good project car waiting for what the plans are for the camaro big third gen fan here
Nice Monte Carlo! Thanks for the information and Video. Be Nice if Recall Exact Length Drive Shaft is From End to End after Shortened for the Manual 5 Speed! Did U Buy The World Class T5 transmission Rebuilt, New or Something, Cost!?? Thanks 💪😎
Manual for the win! Do you still have your red Viper?? When the last generation came out in 2013, I was in high school, so naturally it became my dream car haha. I have driven a Camaro SS and 2 Shelby GT350s so I'm working my way up to a Viper one day to at least test drive!
I don't know if I would of used that T-5 wc as a transmission.. They are not the strongest for spirited driving! Should of went with Tremec TKO 5 speed that is good for 600 ft torque!
For the past 30 years I always wanted to have a TPI Monte SS, the way it should have been from the factory. To top it all off yours has a manual….can’t ask for any cooler of an 80 s project.
Im considering stuffing the entire drivetrain and suspension out of an 06 5.3 malibu up under the rear of my 73 gremlin x. Will I have traction? any thoughts?
The old T5 were weak and can barely handle 305 in a 3rd gen F bodys the G bodys weigh more so the T5 wouldn't last long they did experiment with some doughnash 4+3 and zf 6 speeds in the F bodys but it never made it to production
The World Class T5s were a huge improvement over the earlier T5s. They were introduced in 1988 in the F-bodies. Bearings, internals and gears were all upgraded. It'll be just fine in this car.
I have to ask. How much money have you spent on this project? It appears to me that you have a lot more money than talent. I'm sure that you could have bought a newer, more modern (turnkey) car with much better performance for a lot less than you have spent so far.

They are hard to find in good condition, not to mention expensive, wish to find one for sale
I’m pretty sure it was a 454 Manuel
@@mesnlokz3335 no 350 small block with a 4 speed saginaw
Thank you for "shifting" this idea into this deserving classic. Couldn't resist the pun. Thanks Kyle!
You should be very proud of your work! Very clean and professional, great job!
Awesome Manual Transmission swap in a Monte Carlo bro
Love that you are putting a manual on this car!!!!
You always put alot of love and passion and hard work into ur builds and i really appreciate it. Thank you 🙏 may god bless you and your family
I really appreciate that buddy, thank you!
And then he sells them like why put it all that effort
A tpi engine with a 5 speed manual trans is a very fun ride.
Oh yes!
Kyle- great job and content.
When that body style first came out they was offered with a 4speed an 3speed the v6 had one to
In 1990 i found and bought a 80 malibu wagon with a 3 speed from the factory and a 2 door with a 4 speed all from the factory like that.
The El Camino also had 3 and 4 speed manual trans in them.
The Monte SS could only be had with an awfulmatic. But, yes earlier models, non SS coupes could be opted with a manual.

Nice work!
nothing like a manual trans-------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
20:47 A+ on the burnout, buddy!
a 80s monte carlo ss is my dream car, not sure I'll ever afford one but I'll keep the dream alive
That Monte Carlo is definitely a one of a kind.
hows the chevelle coming along
Installing a short-shifter next? Got a Pro 5.0 on the NWC-T5 in my Iroc, bolts right in and is cheap compared to other shifters. Made rowing through the gears bliss.
You got the monte, the Camaro, I think it’s time for a foxbody now!
Probably picked up 20 to 30 HP to the rear wheels with that swap!
Love the swap! Curious. 3.73 with that T5. What sort of RPMs you running on the freeway?
Congrats, very nice project
Great job! Looks great, sounds great and looks like a blast to drive!
Wanted to do this so bad to my 73 Monte Carlo
Awesome job Kyle
Nice upgrade Kyle!!

do you think you''re going to repaint this car
Love the car! I put a t5 in my 1980 camaro and haven't figured out Wiring up the reverse lights. How did u do it?
What would have caused the excessive pressure in the TH200 for it to blow the front seal?
Any videos on the Chevelle planned?
Do you think that Monte Carlo’s can be a dodge charger hellcat?
Cool conversion... 🙂

They did offer manual in those in Mexico. We didn't get them.
awsome video kyle now were talking yaaah i am hands down a manuel fella love it lol thumbs up and shared
what i shoulda done to my 2001 Trans AM
What are you going to do to the big piece of carpet you cut out in order to install the shiftier
For the past 30 years I always wanted to have a TPI Monte SS, the way it should have been from the factory. To top it all off yours has a manual….can’t ask for any cooler of an 80 s project.
Where did you get the lower shift boot? Just did a t5 swap in my 71 Monte and still need to get a lower shift boot
Did you just order that driveshaft...is it the same length as the original?
Can't run my SS's exhaust straight out the back it would likely get squished to death pulling out of my driveway so side exit it is lol.
Im considering stuffing the entire drivetrain and suspension out of an 06 5.3 malibu up under the rear of my 73 gremlin x. Will I have traction? any thoughts?
Dude..this thing is siick!
💯💯
I'm wanting to put a 6speed in my monte carlo
U never know what issues u will have when u get a car that's been sitting for a long period of time
Good job 😃👍🏽
What manual transmission is that?
Mexican Monte SS 350 4SPD factory.
Great job, you corrected what Chevrolet fell short on…Needs a bumpy cam…..IMO
Bit would have to upgrade intake as well.
So badass
I love this ❤
Been a while
sure this more drama , than "your sister drop happy tears for her GM" ...🤭 and did she drive it today or "flip" the car for a other ?
The Monte Carlo is so much cooler with a manual transmission.
Any interest in selling it?? 😃
First I think
Well I’m first to comment on this first comment, so beat that!
🤫 The word you you are looking for is sad 😔 !. No one likes a show off......

It seems that Chevrolet should've had the Monte Carlo have a manuel, it's just natural for the type of car it is.
