Man I love the looks of this generation Monte Carlo (as well as the Grand Prix, Regal, and Cutlass Supreme). Great find Kyle, looking forward to seeing the improvements!
You've been HOLDING OUT on us! Awesome! One of my favorite G-body coupes. Best of GM's last rear drive coupes. Love the clean lines of this model. Thanks for this video, Kyle! I love the idea for swapping in a TPI fuel injection system.
Wut. That's not true. A 305 has the same stroke as a 350 but a smaller bore. Externally it's the same but dimensions internally are different. If it was an oversquare 350 it would have been a ripper, instead it's under square and a low end torque motor.
Man, i knew you had the earlier G Body Monte Carlo, but i didn't realize you had a Monte SS G Body as well! Not gonna lie, this build's probably gonna give me some good ideas on stuff to do to my G Body El Camino, can't wait to see what else you may have in store for this old girl!
Love the car and the upgraded exhaust. But with a cam and taking the compression from 9:1 to 10:1 or even 11:1 with aluminum heads it's gonna chop😎 keep up the good work, love the channel!
If you are able to put the TPI intake on the current cylinder heads depending on the angle of the bolts, you'll have a torque monster of a 305. Not too powerful but from a dead stop until the end of 3rd gear, it'll get going real nicely.
Brings back memories when my dad had a 86 monte carlo ss when i was a kid. His was a t-top car and was originally silver. He later painted it maroon with black on the bottom of the car. It had the burgandy interior. It had the aluminum monte carlo ss wheels. It also had a noisy gear drive. Is was a pretty cool car when my dad had it. The car is still around, but unfortunately it's a total rust bucket and clapped out.
I was just thinking it would be fun(ny) to do a full car review on your project cars once they reach a good stopping point. Because we all know a project car is never done.
I really expected it to be louder. But sounds good. Not many of the1985 monte carlos had the factory posi. It was a overlooked option. at least they gave you 373 gear.
Sounds good. The tpi will be nice on that engine. Just make sure you have the right base manifold. 84-86 will bolt on. 87 and up will require modifications to the four center intake manifold holes. The HO heads are pretty good for the 305, they have small valves but flow good and they have small combustion chambers.
Sounds good!! You should change the rear end gears, install a posi and put a shift kit in the transmission also. That car brings back some memories as I was getting my driver's license when those cars were still being sold new. NASCAR made those cars extremely popular in the 80's.
@@saabkyle04 man I remember when that car was new........ the was a waiting list like it was a Aventador SVJ!!! My boss got his fully loaded for 35k new
I have a 84 Caballero with the Gear shifter on the column. my question is when you said that something wouldn't fit. Were you talking about the long tub headers or that style of exhaust. That wouldn't work if you have the gear shifter on the column. If u are talking about the long tub headers would shorty header be best for my application with that style of exhaust..
Are you gonna update to how you did the column lock and shift indicater. There was someone on FB selling a printed label to go on the console for the shift indication.
I want all your videos from all the years and I love them I love the Cobalt but mustang the Malibu or Impala with a GMC vehicle and the Nissan Honda Mercedes BMW of all the dealership
I've bought and sold several, I just don't post about it regularly lol. Being that I make my living on youtube, I need things I can film content on regularly. I'm also starting a restoration shop with a friend so it all works hand-in-hand.
FYI, the carburetor needs work/rebuilding and is idled higher than it should be so it doesn't try and stall out (which it still does). The exhaust sounds amazing, with a great low rumble when in gear. It'll be a whole different car after the TPI conversion.
I'm glad you got that full stainless steel exhaust on this Chevrolet Monte Carlo I really enjoy seeing these older cars and so on bro

I love this Monte Carlo. That exhaust is so much better too. Keep up the awesome videos Kyle!
Awesome looking ride sounds really good with that stainless steel Exhaust 👍 Always cool to see the Classic vehicle's still Running around 😎.
Thanks pal!
Can we just all appreciate the beauty of those country roads as well?

The new exhaust sounds good for only a couple hundred horsepower 👍
That new exhaust system you got sounds pretty cool to me. Of course I also can’t wait to see your other new Chevy project.
Thanks 👍
Been working on mine for the past 5 years, finally able to drive on the road, now im going to build it up
Kyle this is awesome man!!! Definitely following this journey with ya. Brings back memories of my 86 monte SS.
Now that’s what I’m talking about!!! Yeah!!!! Well done Kyle!!
Love the SS brings back some great 80s memories. Will you be having any content on the sleeper Chevelle? Another amazing project to watch progress
Yes! October will be Chevelle month 😁
@@christalwillis7752 awesome I'm really looking forward to that project cant wait
She’s really rockin and rollin now my Dad has a 79 Cutlass Supreme brougham and I think it’s one the best sounding cars I ever heard…
Damn that sounds incredible. Really deep with a fantastic muscle car tone.

Yep, the intakes match up fine, it's going to be sweet!

Bring it back to life. Where are you located
I had one in 95 it was a 86 I never like the pipes run out back good choice running them the right way
Damn Been awhile since I’ve watched a video of yours, always loved your older vehicle video reviews.
That sounds beastly
love the content Kyle!
Thank you!
Great car sir I really love old-school cars they are the best
Love these cars hopefully I have one soon

Yeah the TPI setup I have is from an 85 camaro, but I have a newer ECU to take benefits of extra "tuneability". I appreciate the insight!
My Grandma from One of my set of grandparents used to own a 86 Monte Carlo ss
haha, that thing looks awesome. I'd love to own an old Monte Carlo SS one day but I don't know anything about working on cars.
G body dont miss, love those cars. Criminally underpowered though
Tuned port will be awesome on the monte!
Is the oil pan leaking or the rear main seal? Nice exhaust.. been awhile too. Stay safe and be well. Thanks for sharing Kyle
Light em up, buddy! Lol! Beautiful car!
The car sounds good with the new set up how is the 48 sedan doing hope it's still running good
Running great, thanks!

Love this Series !!
You should film 0-60 times with a Dragy and re-run it after every modification. Would make it a lot more interesting.
What a beautiful car😍
Thanks!

Did you every find out how to get your gear indicator to work? I’m running into the same issue .
I'm glad I watched this because I couldn't figure out why my pipes were too damn long, now I know to just cut a couple inches off.

22:22 I haven't heard that in awhile. 😍
I know you said you're not swapping it but that ls swap would be nice in that mc
Of course it'd be nice, but that's also a significant amount of money, time and effort.
That car is mint!👍👍
tuning in.............

I've been watching saabkyle04 since my childhood, how old is Kyle now 32?
Wow I didn’t know Saabkyle had the prototypical “gangster” car bro sweet
are you going to do a rebuilding that engine and transmission in the future chevy monte carlo ss 1985 just asking my friend
sounds amazing man. i just want to know what you do for a living to afford all of this stuff!!
Any seat of the pants improvement in performance? I suspect it'll need a cam to wake that thing up.
What's the exact part number for the headers.
One of my all time favorite cars. Not a great car by any measure, but that's perfectly fine
True true, definitely a product of it's time, but so many possibilities for upgrades this day in age.
235/60/15 is the size I run on my 86 and they look great (to me)
Did you figure out the gear shift cable going to the dash board?
Nice gbody.. any updates n the hooker exhaust package….
I actually like the way these tires looked. Anyone know what size they were ? TIA!
Which transmission is that? And did you need to change out transmission mount for new crossmember?
Hey bro, where can I find those headers? They fit perfect!
Hi my name is j a i d e n i remember all your shows I love this show right here
I was going to say you should do the tpi if you're looking for something like oem+
Megasquirt it. It's not an easy process but you'll learn so much.
Nevermind, sounds fine in the 2 last clips.
Lol, that was a nice one tire fire at the end.
Wasn't it? LOLOLOL
Are the mufflers straight thru or do they have chambers
What did you ever figure out for the shift lock mechanism?
Any leads on where I can find a tpi setup like yours?
What are all the vehicles you guys currently own
When I click on the exhaust link, it pulls up the Holley page saying is an LS swap system?? Is that right that exact system will fit a 85-86 Monte?
*I have a similar snorkel on my 1976 Camaro.* 2ndGenFrank
Any updates on the chevelle?
Next video about the new truck 1996 Silverado z71?
Yes
I would do a full paint correction on that car
no welding ?
Aren't the catalytic converters missing?
Sure are lol
The TPI is all mid range power. The top end will definitely suffer. Especially with stock runners.
Anybody know that part number on those headers please
Dude! How many cars do you own now!?

Nice choice, now ls swap it lol
How's it coming
Do you still have that other Monte Carlo?
No, sold it and the regal
That Monte Carlo looks so cool and awesome!
Also, the Blackheart exhaust system sounds so good... (^_^)
Please put the right tire size on.
I literally said in the video that I was getting rid of them lol
One wheel peel. Need an LSD
Nice sound but your burnout shows no possi.
See you later bro
I know you said you weren't swapping that engine but if you keep revving it like that you will be doing an engine swap.....
Lol thanks for the advice
I know all the videos next time can you do the Chevrolet Chevelle
These look better with t top
Sounds bad on idle no tune and no deep rumble but its really better than stock
