I blame the marketing, the timing of not releasing it in the summer when kids are out of school and Michael Bay for its shit box office. The movie looks absolutely stunning especially in IMAX 3-D.
Man everyone for years said “why don’t they make a full cg movie in this style with just the transformers” and then we got the opening of Bumblebee. Sucks this bombed after years of fans clamoring for a fully CGI transformers movie
Totally agree Tyrone - Trailers put me off, although I will see it (not out in the UK yet) - but am waiting for the day a movie based on the first 5 mins of Bumbleebee is made!
I really am angry that the movie flopped. I really liked this movie and I really want to see the sequels cover the war and possibly the Fall of Cybertron.
It’s not even out over here in the uk until 11th October!! By then most people who wanted to watch it will have probably somehow illegally streamed it. You really have to question the marketing strategies & dodgy decisions by paramount.

All right, watched it 3X might as well go all out to support this movie. I tell ya, this is the best transformers movie ever made, the D-16 orion pax dynamic is amazing throughout and heartbreaking at the end.
There's never a reason to make or market something as "kiddie". I'll never understand how companies don't realize this. Think about classic spongebob -- it was THE show for kids yet adults enjoyed it too. Or think about Michael Bay's transformers 1, ALL people enjoyed it. The BEST kids movies are those that are enjoyed by adults. Deep down, kids appreciate the sophistication too -- even if they don't know that word yet.
Iron Giant was also a box office flop despite being one the best animated movies of all time. Transformers One is the best Transformers movie since the 1986 movie!!
The wild robot releases this week, joker 2 releases next week, the week after that smile 2 releases than 2 weeks after that venom 3 releases. TF:One will go silent by this week if not joker 2 will finish it off.
This movie deserves not to flop and needs sequels NOW! Y'all gotta start telling literally everyone they need to go see this in theaters asap! I wasn't going to go see it because it looked like it wasn't for me but it was EXACTLY for me...
I’m honestly disappointed by how it’s doing in the box office. Oh well, at least it’s doing well on Rotten Tomatoes. Just because the first trailer sucked, doesn’t mean the movie is also going to suck.
my theory is that the art style turned off a lot of people, most of the transformer fandom was expecting the more blocky 80s or 90s style transformes so they didnt show up to the theaters
Bingo, these designs are cringey "modern" designs that seem like they're just weird for the sake of being different. How anyone could think these are good character designs is beyond me
rotten tomatoes is a garbage website, because its top critics are frequently bought off, and the audience reviews are frequently filled with bots. I know, I've watched it happen in real time. Recall Captain Marvel?
I’m not surprised at all that BeetleJuice BeetleJuice is still Rising in the box office but I’m am surprised that transformers one is flopping because you would think kids would be begging to see this movie to their parents and it’s a popular franchise. But at the same time this could be a spiderverse situation because the first film flop but the second one did great so maybe if they do a sequel the same thing happens.
@@firefox7628 well not like a flop flop it was still a moderated success but at the same time it’s the lowest grossing Spiderman film to date (The Sony movies don’t count because yes they are Spider-Man villains but they don’t featured Spider-Man at all) so it made money but not the amount Sony was expecting. But the movie did boost with the Oscar nomination and going to Netflix.
The marketing totally sabotaged the movie, the majority of people who saw it loved it. I’m a big Transformers fan part of my childhood. But when I saw the trailer I was like wtf is this lol so I didn’t see it. But now I have too because I heard it’s awesome.
Can agree to that and I think you’re on the right way with your thinking. I’m a transformers g1 fan myself, also collecting masterpieces and I’m in a few transformers groups on Facebook… And after the first trailer there was so much ‘nah, that’s not going to work…’ ‘I will not watch that…’ and so on going on… The first trailer really did a ‘bad job’ there…
That’s mainly due to the bayfilms and RoTB unfortunately. The general audience still thinks transformers is in that dumb fun state when really with transformers one it’s proof that they can handle complex storylines as long as u have people behind it that actually care about the franchise.
To be honest I don’t think it’s transformers fatigue, I think people just don’t trust that these Hollywood movies are worth there money. Most people probably wait until the streaming release
@@Breeezy888 maybe but at the same time the movie has been receiving a ton of positive reviews and honestly it’s the kind of transformers content we need more of honestly.
The Last Knight killed most people’s interest (despite the admittedly epic action scenes). Bumblebee was a breath of fresh air, but most people I know weren’t happy with it being a complete reboot (plus the first 5 minutes should be a full fledged movie itself). Rise of the Beasts (in my opinion) suffers an identity crisis where it wants to continue off Bumblebee in terms of being more lore accurate yet also backtrack to Bayformers’ approach with unnecessary redesigns and epic fight scenes, but now with a lower budget… It’s been a rough several years… 💀
Transformer movies have always been CGI, last few ones were completely cgi with humans running around. This fully animated movie is golden, best transformers movie. People will start to realize it overtime and the reviews are coming out are all good.
I think the “kiddie” aspect of it played a part in it. It did receive a lot of good talk about it from all sides. Personally, I wasn’t impressed by the trailer but that’s my opinion.
Yeah. That first trailer turned people away, myself included. I happened upon the later trailers on accident. That first reveal was highly marketed like a kids animation film with the kind of hokey jokes and very lighthearted tone people expect with that kind of film. And I think the main target audience of the TF films (which I think is mostly the casual action movie blockbuster viewer than the dedicated fan in terms of numbers) isn't looking for that.
Maybe it will make money over time from word of mouth from reviews from fans causing more people to go see it. We must never lose hope in times like this.
Its a combination of the 1st trailer and it looking like a kid movie. Dont forget there were quite a bit of early screenings throughout summer up to week before which imo lowered 1st weekend box off ice numbers since a good portion saw it already. I say don't worry as good word of mouth and fans rewatching can increase 2nd weekend box office. It could of made a killing had it come out 2 weeks earlier for labor day weekend.
People like what they like. Each to their own. I heard this movie is great, the story line, character development. I will be going to see this for myself and making my own mind up.
You are correct. Every movie is subjective. The problem of this people if the movie is critical acclaim and also they love that movie it should be blockbuster or most people should love that movie.

@ox_trueprotagonistchrisred9085 nah. It was too complex. Transformers started off animated and it should stay that way. The 86 movie is better than all of the live action movies.
@@ox_trueprotagonistchrisred9085it was CG
Just because it made 40 Millon .....doesn't mean it's a flop .......just give it a few weeks
@@Carloscabral34 me going back to the theatres to see it again:
Back to Bayverse Baby
It haven’t open in other parts of the world like the uk China, etc

@@申月営無営月無営有申 No
The movie has only been out for 4 days and people are already saying it's a flop like people aren't going to go see it after the opening weekend
I blame the marketing, the timing of not releasing it in the summer when kids are out of school and Michael Bay for its shit box office. The movie looks absolutely stunning especially in IMAX 3-D.
Transformers One is the best Transformers movie I have ever seen in my life. This movie needs a sequel!!🔥🔥
The studio should have released it during Christmas instead of September. Definitely would’ve been better promoted and made more money 💰
Hands down this is the best Transformers movie.
Is it worth seeing brotha? I’m considering watching it this weekend.
@@BigMikeGaming21Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes 👍
I agree.
It's close to 1986 movie as the great TF movie
@@kinglord7707it’s better except the truth
Im just hoping the more positive reception it gets the more people will see it
But its only been a couple days so were gonna have to wait and see what happens to be certain
I don't understand why IGN made a fake review of transformers One. But I'm going to watch it anyway.
All right, watched it 3X might as well go all out to support this movie.
I tell ya, this is the best transformers movie ever made, the D-16 orion pax dynamic is amazing throughout and heartbreaking at the end.
It’s a good movie but no one is willing to go see it
It looked silly and goofy which is not what people want.
The trailer made it look like it. But it wasn't like that in the film.
Blame the first trailer.
But it's not
First trailer was mid, almost put off watching it because of that.
Glad I gave it a chance, it ended up being one of the best films in the franchise.
@freeamericanthinker558 yeah, the first trailer was bad. The second was better. But the first one already ruined it for me.
It's a movie about enslaving your own species and disappearing anyone who asks questions. The first trailer is baby stuff compared to that.
This movie is literally amazing, but the marketing fucked everything up,and that's sad
If only this came out during the summer… 😔
@@Termina2018 literally the movie was finished in June probably even may so idk what paramount is thinking. Just idiotic of them.
I didn’t even realize this was a movie until maybe a couple of weeks ago. Thought it was an animated series.
Lol yeah same here
This movie is gorgeous in story and visuals. It is so sad to see it flopping. If you haven’t seen this movie already go see it.
I saw it on opening day by myself. Only 2 other guys in the theater. The movie was fantastic.
my theory is that the art style turned off a lot of people, most of the transformer fandom was expecting the more blocky 80s or 90s style transformes so they didnt show up to the theaters
Bingo, these designs are cringey "modern" designs that seem like they're just weird for the sake of being different. How anyone could think these are good character designs is beyond me
Its sad to see it do terrible in the box office, because the movie actually ended up getting a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes
rotten tomatoes is a garbage website, because its top critics are frequently bought off, and the audience reviews are frequently filled with bots. I know, I've watched it happen in real time. Recall Captain Marvel?
If this is true, it's not fair!! I need to go see it again!!
1st impressions matter, even for movies.
It only made 39 million worldwide over its opening weekend.
@@donavinrodriguez6288 INTO THE SPIDERVERSE?! FLOP?! IN THE SAME SENTENCE?! HOW SWAE?!?
@@firefox7628 well not like a flop flop
it was still a moderated success but at the same time it’s the lowest grossing Spiderman film to date (The Sony movies don’t count because yes they are Spider-Man villains but they don’t featured Spider-Man at all) so it made money but not the amount Sony was expecting. But the movie did boost with the Oscar nomination and going to Netflix.
I think marketing like a kids movie was the point they wanted super Mario Bros numbers
The marketing totally sabotaged the movie, the majority of people who saw it loved it. I’m a big Transformers fan part of my childhood. But when I saw the trailer I was like wtf is this lol so I didn’t see it. But now I have too because I heard it’s awesome.
this movie still hasnt released in europe until october and still not released in china
WHY?? HOW?? SMH. Nobody you can blame but the marketing because the movie was so well done. It has to be the marketing.
Ppl sometimes just don’t support good movies, look at furiosa
For my listeners on my audio podcast, it was the first trailer that killed this movie because they left me messages on why they didn’t see it
For me it was the original Optimus voice actor wasn't involved in the project when he still could be
I grew up with Gary Chaulk. I love Peter Cullen but he's not the only VA optimus has ever had.
Bro Peter doesn't have to be in every TF project period
Y'all gots to be patient. This movie is gonna go down as the greatest TF movie ever made, period.
This movie was a 11/10. I pray it gets it sequel
And maybe the fact it still hasn't come out in the UK lol
It's only been like 4 days.
It's not even out over here in the UK yet. Going to see it when it is
this movie was amazing bruh it deserves better
Can agree to that and I think you’re on the right way with your thinking. I’m a transformers g1 fan myself, also collecting masterpieces and I’m in a few transformers groups on Facebook…
And after the first trailer there was so much ‘nah, that’s not going to work…’ ‘I will not watch that…’ and so on going on…
The first trailer really did a ‘bad job’ there…
like we didn’t see this coming! Anytime mainstream media makes something from childhood they push their garbage all over the franchise
The first trailer of transformers one really hurt this movie
Thats unfortunate, i heard a lot of people really liked it. I wonder if people are just getting sick of transformers movies now or what
That’s mainly due to the bayfilms and RoTB unfortunately.
Rise of the Beasts (in my opinion) suffers an identity crisis where it wants to continue off Bumblebee in terms of being more lore accurate yet also backtrack to Bayformers’ approach with unnecessary redesigns and epic fight scenes, but now with a lower budget…
It’s been a rough several years… 💀
Transformer movies have always been CGI, last few ones were completely cgi with humans running around.
Didn’t want to see it, it just seemed too childish in the trailers. I will watch it now because of your positive review.
That first trailer really put me off wanting to see it. I’ll wait for it to be on streaming in a few weeks
100% that goofy 1st trailer.
That sucks cause movie is really good, now we might not even get a sequel
Seen it yesterday it was dope
I think we need to wait until October so the movie aired worldwide
That's crazy. This movie was good.
He did a great role in Furiosa 🔥
