Tough but extremely interesting day out on the water I made the most of it by kayaking to surf fish the rocks for Snook.

Nice vid Rich, I would’ve liked to have seen more of them hookups but this definitely happens to all anglers, there was definitely a lot of action, but sometimes it jus is what it is, I use a lot of the X raps but I made the decision to put VMC inline singles on em all, now I’m jus waitin on the month of April to see how they do in the Cape Cod Bay Area, can’t wait for the next video 🤙🏼🤙🏼

The Xrap 10 in sardine color is a good lure to fishing snook in Costa Rica. I ussually use the stock triples, but the spool a little soft.

I use VMC 4x treble hooks on my rapalas, never failed me yet. Give it a try next time.
Yep VMC are top trebles. Strong for sure. How has your hook ups been. Consistent.?
Paul never had a problem with hook ups, taking the hooks out is a pain though sometimes the fish is hooked with all 3 hooks

The rapalas have weak hooks and bend out so easy but catch so many fish. Definitely size up to 4x!!!
White bucktail works 👊 perfect for snook
Try double split rings at each hook attachment point, and like said hard to beat VC hooks.. Great vid!
Add a couple more split rings or a swivel and drop the hooks away from the plug some allowing the hooks to get a better set. Looks fun
Also might try a big single hook on the back
Try a wider gape hook, in the UK I swap out every treble, even on rapalas, Mustad trebles I use a lot of. and if you can go lighter gauge you’re more likely to set hook, but understandably fish are a lot bigger there. Anyway, still an awesome video! I was impressed how calm you were when that charter went over your line 👌👊

That's one of the best summer snook spots in all of Florida. I've caught 100s of fish there over the years. The detached jetty is good too.

Change stock hooks with Owners treble hooks are circle hooks. Keep the size and weight about the same because it will change the action of the lure

I fish that jetty as well and I have found that when I get super excited about all the fish that I see I start fishing way too fast. Seems that for me or me a really slow soft plastic Seems to outfish any any other artificial but again that's just me. make sure you don't let that kayak out of your site, Sure seems to be a ton of thieves around. You should find a nice day and do a Peck Lake Mackeral session. The amount of bites you can get out there in a day is unbelievable

store bought lures always have dull worthless treble hooks, up here in Washington State its illegal to fish most species with treble hooks. Replace with great quality single hook. The fish will hook better, and stay hooked for most part.
Great content! Have you tried switching some of your treble hooks out for inline single hooks? I only use trebles for hybrid striped bass as they don't always get hooked in the mouth.
Inline singles the trebles help the fish spit the hook

Would it help if you had a polarised lens on your camera to remove some of the shine off the water?
Just because a lure is new does not mean the hooks are sharp. I check them regularly and sharpen as needed.
Not a bad day looked fun as hell but damn I think you need to set up little harder when you get hit it might increase your hookups, keep fishing and making videos

Any fisherman who Fishes knows those bad days, things just don't come together and the harder you try the worse it gets. A change of scenery, a camera free day and back to basics should help shake the break. As we say in South Africa - Stywe Lyne (tight lines)!

I used a tsunami once and I caught one Bonita on it on the kayak and the gears stripped and it broke and wouldn’t wind any more. I never used tsunami since.

I enjoyed the one time I went but I like targeting Stripers more so in the ocean surf. I guess that’s just what happens when you grow up surf fishing Montauk, Jersey, and Rhode Island.
Randy Todd place is a zoo now. The internet killed it. Still plenty of fish there If you like fishing elbow to elbow with people while others cast over your head from the bike path above you, I live in mass and avoid it except early and later in the season.

BK trebles only. Best hooks 4 sure. I couldn't believe you didn't know what they were. It hurts too much losing top fish. You know what they say, PPPPP.
Man, those Rapala hooks sucked! It should have been hard for any fish NOT to get hooked on those trebles if you felt the hit. Had to be a sharpness problem, but not something you’d expect from that brand.
Shame about that snook with the lure stuck in its mouth. Not blaming you for it: shit happens. Respect for keeping it real and leaving it in the vid'. You could easily have left it out and no one would have known.

Yeah he could have stopped immediately but he kept going and then 100yards up he stopped and checked his prop and kept on going. Evicts are working fine. Just wanted to try this tsunami armar and it was smooth in the beginning but didnt feel so good by the end of the day. :/
