Just a quick tip for the Lingo glucose monitor. If you place the sensor and leave it on the skin for 12-24 hours before you connect it to the app all the crazy readings and number will not happem. I place my new sensor on my arm 24 hours before the old sensor ends. When the old sensor ends, I then scan the new sensor. It should work the same for the Stelo. You will not lose the day of waiting for your 14 days as the clock does not start until it is scanned.
You are a great instructor -& so is this guy. Simple, direct, helpful. Coming from an old retired acute care nurse, that is a rare compliment in today’s world. God bless you. Please do more info for people.
They sound like similar prices, I’m on my 3rd Stelo sensor, had an issue with the 2nd sensor not connecting to the app, I just closed down my iPhone and reinstalled the sensor code number on unit & it worked, it took a minute to figure out. Stelo has been a total game changer! I don’t care about the history & old graphs, it shows 30 days of your average BS. I just care when I spike, then I remember what I ate from the event, stress, exercise… I was on Rebelsus (GLP1) for over a year and a half and my insurance was being charged $999 a month for it-$35 out of my pocket. I was so frustrated because I could not get a CGM without a RX because I’m T2 & non insulin ☹️ I’m now paying $89 a month (Which Medicare should pay for 🧐) I’m losing weight with it because I’m paying attention to what I put in my mouth. It is interesting how stress or exercise can raise my BS too! Everyone should try one to educate their-self❤
I appreciate that you did both. I tried the Lingo after watching your videos because it retained the data. The Lingo app is trying to make it more like a game with a goal of reaching a Lingo number. A Lingo number is not necessary. I just want the facts, the glucose numbers. I will try the Stelo next month. Thanks for doing these reviews!
This is an amazing review!! You helped me bypass the “marketing” hype and explained the down to earth info you need to make informed decisions. You’ve earned a subscription and a thumbs up from me!!!🎉🎉🎉
AWESOME! Just ordered the Lingo. Two weeks just to see what foods and behaviors are doing what. Not diabetic, but need to monitor A1c to stay out. Hopefully the 2 week quickie can give me insight on what nachos, grilled cheese of coffee with or without cream is is doing what, and adjust!
I have been wearing the Lingo for 8 weeks and I really like it. The application is no big deal, you just click the two parts together and the directions are clear and it's pretty obvious what to do. Also the adhesive has been no issue for me. They did say Android support is coming (as is Apple Watch support). I don't want to have to use another app to keep my data, and I can figure out the Lingo count info very easily. I'm planning on keeping wearing one indefinitely as I work to improve my health, so the better price of the Lingo subscription is also a plus for me.
After two weeks of using the Dexcom Stelo, I found it fell short of my expectations. Since I am not diabetic, my goal was to use the device to understand how different foods affected my body, with the hope of making healthier choices and reducing the risk of developing sugar intolerance in the future. However, when I compared Stelo’s readings to actual fingerstick tests, I noticed a consistent discrepancy: the Stelo was always 30 to 40 points higher. This inaccuracy meant it constantly triggered alarms for glucose spikes, no matter how healthy my meals were. Its daily reports even suggested I was diabetic, which was far from the truth. Because of these inconsistencies, I couldn’t reliably track how specific foods impacted my body. Instead, the device seemed only to detect that I had eaten, assigning glucose levels almost randomly. Frustration set in as it became clear that the Stelo provided little more than general tendencies, making it impossible for me to draw any meaningful conclusions about my diet. In the end, I was left questioning whether it was measuring anything beyond when I ate, with the actual glucose readings feeling almost arbitrary.
something is not right with your sensor. Please call them they will work with you. Mine works almost perfectly. At times it's off with my fingerstick by 2 which I've never seen before including coming from Abbott's Libre.
@@megbeller7981 i doubt it. I tried both keto mojo and CVS reader. I don't have luck with Freestyle Libre for some reason. Just had fasting glucose done, 85, which is close w both readers
Android user here, too. I'll try the Lingo when Android is supported because my first Stelo sensor lasted 11 days and my second only 6 days. The first was replaced, no hassle. We'll see on the second one.
I gave up on the Stelo and got a Lingo. So far, the Lingo is far more accurate and much closer to my finger stick measurements. With the Stelo I was rarely under 140 which was discouraging and not based in reality.
Great review. Thank you! Was considering the Stelo. I'm overall healthy (at least I think I am) but wanted to try a CGM to see how different foods affect me. Now that I understand, from your review, that this is just an algorithmic estimation of glucose versus an actual glucose measurement, have decided it may not be worth the effort and inconvenience. Hi, found your channel for the Stelo info. Similar history and goals, I'm thinking Appalachian Trail. I'm 66, elec engineer. Had some health issues late '23 which led me down the metabolic health rabbit hole. Feels like I've done a grad course. Been using my Stelo since Aug. You may want to check out Dr. Ben Bikman's channel for info. Spoiler, the chronic fasting insulin is the key. May you continue being well! Thanks for the Stelo info. 🙂
Thank you for your video! Got my Stelo and tried to apply today. I had a question regarding the inside of the applicator: should a needle be sticking up? I think I accidentally pressed the button while trying to unscrew the lid.
I think the sensor application will change for the Lingo. It looks like the Lingo is the Freestyle Libre 2. Abbott now has a Libre 3 and 3 plus. With those the sensor is smaller and the applicator is already put together, you just unscrew the lid and it’s ready to go. I would bet Abbott is in the process of getting the Freestyle Libre 3 and 3 plus approved to be used without a prescription under the Lingo name.
Stelo first sensor pretty accurate within 10-15 points of finger stick. Second one a disaster! Up 30-40 points down under 70 then back up etc. Attempted to contact several times and their site indicated you will be notified within 2 days. No notification was made! Disputed on my AX. Bullshit to have no service and take your money
I got a subscription for Stelo but their customer service is zero. I finished my first order two days early and tried to get an earlier shipping date but I couldn’t get a person to talk to. I don’t even know if an order is on the way or not. I got so confused that I am trying to Lingo. They do have a customer service phone.
I was leaning towards the Lingo but found it not to be accurate at all. My blood sugar numbers were WILDLY off as much as 50 points vs a finger stick. Stelo was much more accurate although their software is too basic for my liking. I’m switching to the G7 once I get a RX from my doctor. It seems that software is a little more sophisticated.
Hello I watch your video. You explain it very well thank you very much for all the work you’re doing. I’m getting my lingo today on UPS so my question is I did purchase for two weeks just to see myself what I’m doing what I’m eating where is my blood numbers so question is if I wanna continue another two weeks do you have to replace lingo? which means I need to take it off and put another one there each time I make purchase? Thanks
You should go to a target and do a Duke Canon Cologne review. I got the Sawtooth and really like it and am curious what you think of them. They are 22.99 not too expensive.
Were you able to get numbers below and above the range with the Stelo? I only see a choice between 2 ranges. I chose the 70-140 but though it shows it's gone out of range, it doesn't show the actual numbers below 70 or above 140. I'd love to know how to see them. Also appreciate the warning that the initial low middle of the night numbers aren't accurate. Thank you.
There are many Chinese-made watches that use multi-spectral sensors to infer blood glucose levels from measurements on the interstitial fluid under the skin. These watches also use an algorithm to derive a number. Are they accurate? We can’t compare to these new CGMs because the FDA dropped a ban-hammer on imports of watches that claim to measure glucose.
Without validating a watch myself, I would be very wary of those claims. If they work it'd be fantastic! I would get a watch and then validate it using other measurement technologies: e.g. traditional CGM and finger stick.
Does either CGM have a follow option like the G7 or Libre 3 do? I've been using the G7 for about a year now and before that I used Libre. The reason I switched was the follow option, the one on the libre would always cutout on me and stop working yet Abbott always said it must be my internet connection etc. So after switching to the G7 their follow option has only stopped once and that was from a server down issue, only lasted about an hour. FYI I used the follow option to send my readings to my watch so I can see them discreetly at my office. I have also heard that Dexcom is working on a direct to watch connection for the G7 but that will only be for the Apple watch for now. I'm android/samsung watch user so I'm hopefully some of these new options/devices will be available for android. Thanks for the vid, is was good info for me.
My Android 8.0 is too old for the Stelo App.... their website stinks... trying to find out if my Dexcom G7 reader will connect with the Stelo. Any clue anyone? Thanks
Any thoughts on whether Stello or Lingo captures blood sugar spikes more accurately? I wore Stelo first, and then Lingo. Lingo seems to smooth out the data more. Or else Stelo is exaggerating it.
CGMs can’t replace finger sticks in determining your specific glucose reading. As he mentions, that’s because it doesn’t read blood, it reads interstitial fluid. The strength of any CGM device is its ability to let you know where you’re trending. Is your glucose going up or down and at what rate? That should be accurate, even if the actual glucose number on the screen doesn’t match your finger stick. If you want your CGM device to be as close to your actual blood glucose reading as possible, you need to calibrate it often. I don’t know about now but back in the day, it used to be 2-4 times a day that you had to calibrate.
The lingo doesn’t show number if more than 200+ ,did another showing number if more than 200, you don’t point out on your video! My first lingo is out of service on day 10 days! How is other? I plan to try other one, so I need the information for it, thank you!❤
I have a prescription for the Libre 3 and have to self pay. Apparently I pay less for the Libre 3(using GoodRX) than the Lingo costs. It makes no sense to pay more for the non prescription Lingo.
@@niecek.6473not quite true. Insurance doesn’t pay for the Dexcom unless you’re on insulin, but many doctors will still prescribe either (at least if you’re diabetic), even if not on insulin. I’ve been using the libre 3 for many months and don’t use insulin.
On both devices, I feel because a whole day is wasted for them to calibrate is a big no-no. That means I actually have to put on TWO devices at the same time if I don't want a gap in readings. So when they advertise how long you can keep them on before needing a new one, that is deceptive advertising. There's probably a technical reason why they need a warm up period, but they should compensate by making them last longer. Maybe a better battery would extend the time.
Also, the Stelo app is able to read activity like excercise, and carb intake from Apple Health. This is handy, saves you the trouble of having to manually enter that data
I have used BOTH. They are both very good glucose monitors. However, I will NEVER use the Stelo again. Why? The Stelo repeatedly, throughout the day loses connectivity with my iPhone. This is extremely irritating. MULTIPLE disconnects, MULTIPLE times a day. The Lingo has not disconnected from my iPhone, NOT even ONCE! I will therefore abandon the Stelo and stick with the Lingo.
You stated that it was easy for you to cancel your subscription for the Stello. Please tell me how you did it. I have been trying for two days and the app is the least user-friendly I have ever seen. I go to the area where I am supposed to be able to cancel the account or cancel my subscription and all it will allow me to do is to order a new Subscription. I have been using computers for 35 years and I know how they work. This thing is absolutely impossible. Please tell me how you were able to cancel and I will be forever grateful.
In the app to to "Settings" (bottom right) and then scroll down to "Support" and tap on "Account Dashboard". It will tell you that you are leaving the app and going to their website. There you can see "Subscription" and tap on "Manage Subscription". Scroll down to see "Cancel Subscription"
@@parristx Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I have tried doing what you said on my iPhone, my iPad, and my desktop computer and I cannot get beyond the subscription page. There is no “manage subscription” and no place to cancel. It only gives me the option of “Start a New Subscription”. I cannot figure out why and there is no way of contacting them. I feel like I am in a loop and will be receiving two sensors every month for the rest of my life lol. Thanks again.
@@patyokley9609 They do not give an email address. They have a bot that has canned answers. I am hoping that I have been unsubscribed without knowing it and that is why there is no option to unsubscribe or cancel. One of the worst things about Stelo is you can't talk to a live person---I mean "talk". As in over the phone. When I am having technical difficulties I, I don't like to use "chat" through the computer
I like the Dexcon 7, but Stelo's software sucks. It doesn't show my past exact glucose level. WT heck? It's not that difficult to update the software. Why do I pay much money only to end up with a subpar software glucose reader? I made several requests, but never once received any comments from Stelo. Don't waste your money on Stelo.
stelo would not sink with my iPhone iOS 18.0.1. Stelo did not offer a live person to talk with about my problem and the help they offered was not helpful so it was a waste of $107 ($99 + tax)
I don’t like the Lingo ordering model - you can’t buy a box of two and give one to your partner unless they log in as you on the app. These unnecessary restrictions have to go.
I purchased the stelo which worked excellent the first 2 weeks. Installed the second one and it only reads under 70. There is absolutely no customer support for stelo. They have no phone number and a bot that cannot answer one question. Do not buy this blood glucose sensor
I’ve used the Dexcom G6 and now G7 for almost three years. There have been a few glitchy sensors but Dexcom support has been quick to replace them. I bought two Stelo sensors for my wife since she doesn’t have a prescription. The Stelo is basically a G7 with a feature limited app. I tried to cancel the subscription but my account says i don’t have a subscription. Long story but Stelo support is definitely a big fail. Hopefully they will fix their attempt at automated support. Otherwise Stelo is a good sensor for anyone not injecting insulin.

How to get Clarity to see your Stelo data?
Just keep the clarity app open like you do Stelo app. The biosensor will send data to both apps.
My stelo sucked. Waste of $100. And customer service is impossible. Sensor died in 6 days and was rarely accurate anyway
Update , 2 weeks later , They did agree to replace the sensor.
Send email 😊
@@patyokley9609 They do not give an email address. They have a bot that has canned answers. I am hoping that I have been unsubscribed without knowing it and that is why there is no option to unsubscribe or cancel. I will know next month when I either receive two more sensors or do not receive two more sensors.
One of the worst things about Stelo is you can't talk to a live person---I mean "talk". As in over the phone. When I am having technical difficulties I, I don't like to use "chat" through the computer
Marshall Applewhite? 😂😂
I like the Dexcon 7, but Stelo's software sucks. It doesn't show my past exact glucose level. WT heck? It's not that difficult to update the software. Why do I pay much money only to end up with a subpar software glucose reader? I made several requests, but never once received any comments from Stelo. Don't waste your money on Stelo.
lingo only lasted 6 days!
stelo would not sink with my iPhone iOS 18.0.1. Stelo did not offer a live person to talk with about my problem and the help they offered was not helpful so it was a waste of $107 ($99 + tax)
I experienced the same with lingo. Helpful device, not perfect.
I prefer the Lingo. Easy application and I trust ABBOTT!
I don’t like the Lingo ordering model - you can’t buy a box of two and give one to your partner unless they log in as you on the app. These unnecessary restrictions have to go.
Oh that’s annoying but good to know.. Can you do it with Stelo, do you know?
@@jenk7569 yes, you can create a new account for anyone and use the Stelo with that account or an existing account. It’s how it should be.
How can it read under 70? This is made for non-insulin T2
The g7 app is just as bad as the stello. all are better than fingersticks all day long.
This seems like an add for Stelo.
Lol, I love my Stelo so far😊
Stelo only lasted 25 hours before ending the session. $45 for one day. 😠
Update: Worked with the Bot on their site and they have sent a replacement.

Glad they are doing that! I was ready to do the same, but I shut down my phone for a few minutes, then reentered the code number & it worked.
