This was written when I was young. My uncle Chris was living in my parents rental house down the street in Kalama Washington. One day my mother arrived there to see how he was doing. He was all strung up on drugs. My mom was fed up at that point and yelled at him. She said, “I’m sick of how you’re living your life. Fix it!!” Or something along those lines. Later on my uncle Chris ran over to our house and knocked on the front door all excited and happy. He yelled, “BECKY! BECKY! “ My mother opened the door and asked, “What?” He said, “BECKY BECKY I SAW IT!” “SAW WHAT?” She asked. “I SAW A FALLING STAR!!” He answered. That’s how part of his inspiration to the song became what it is. I know how songs are though. Later on in life they can create different meanings from experiences and possibly the other part of his lyrics are inspired from other experiences he had felt before that event and the event of where he saw a falling star coming toward him.

I’m so sorry for u & ur families loss. My heart hurts knowing that I won’t see him again or hear new incredible musical creations that only he could write! He had such a soft caring heart & I am so fortunate that he let me know that about him in the 30 yrs of friendship that I shared with him. He was an Icon the first day he came into this world & will remain a treasured part of Portland’s musical history & what a MUSICAL GENIUS actually looked like.
