    This cute little piece of wood sounds so full of charme, but the best thing about Player II series in general is surely the fact that Fender finally came back to rosewood fretboards!

      Player series Jaguar bass is 34" with PJ layout. Plus, it's got the blend capabilities with the two volume knobs. I don't know if they'll bring those back for the Player II Series, though. I doubt they sold well, but I am only guessing.

      Joining the question! Wondering which one to get

    • @patrickhunter
      @patrickhunter  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Apples and oranges!
      The tone, feel and everything about the JMJ feels more “baked in” and vintage while everything for the Player II PJ Mustang is on the opposite spectrum where it feels and sounds modern in comparison.
      You get more versatility in tones with the PJ Mustang obviously, but the split single coil on JMJ is a lot like a P-Bass in terms of the surprising amount of versatility you’re able to achieve with your playing dynamics and one pickup.
      Of course if possible, definitely try before choosing but hopefully I was able to provide some sort of decent clarity! Thanks for watching, y’all!

    • @christocr

      @@thomaswallace7580 Which defeats the point of a short scale bass in the first place. If it is as big as a full scale bass and plays like a full scale bass, why not just get a full scale bass? For me, if I'm getting a short scale bass, it's because I want a small bass. Otherwise, I'm just going to get a P or J or Stingray or whatever. I just ordered one of these Player II Mustang basses, which will complement my P and J and give me something a little different in feel. As for the Squier Paranormal Rascal Bass... it's a great sounding bass. Looks nice. But when I tried it out, it just didn't feel like a short scale bass, which is what I'm after when I check out short scales. My favorites are Mustangs and the short scale Stingrays. I'd like to see a short scale Jaguar with the pickup configuration of the Squier Rascal Bass.

  • @innocentoctave
    @innocentoctave 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Good demo. I would still only buy one of these if my hands were so small that I couldn't play the 34" scale versions of the P-Bass and J-Bass, both of which sound better. It sounds fuller than the Mustang Bass with its original pickup, true - though not as full as the full-size instruments - but it loses the unique character of the original Mustang. It's probably best thought of as its own thing: but what that thing is, isn't clear.

    • @liamholloway4081
      @liamholloway4081 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree! It looks cool and sounds good but it’s not a Mustang to me. A Mustang bass is simple by nature and that simplicity is what makes it work, like a shorter P Bass. it’s gotta have a string through body, one volume, one tone, no messing! I absolutely love mine.

    To me, a mustang bass is a short scale bass made to be affordable, mostly due to using ‘whatever parts left’ in the factory to make it.
    All in the name of getting younger folk/students to pick up to play and be within their budget.
    Now they’re putting “quality” parts in them and charging a fortune. Students simply can’t afford them.
    Even a top end Fender Mustang bass should only be marginally more expensive than the top end Squier basses
