    There was an interview with Miyamoto and Aonuma way back when BotW was still known as Zelda Wii U where they said that the game would feature massive labyrinth-like dungeons on a scale the likes of which this series has never seen before. I remember them saying that a dungeon in the game could be comparable to the size of Hyrule Field from Ocarina of Time. There was also the footage at the 2014 Game Awards where Miyamoto said that the owl statues in the Faron region marked the proximity of a dungeon nearby (which we know now to be false as there is no dungeon or divine beast in that region). We now know that those statues were connected to the Zonai which seem to be of importance in the sequel. Could these massive labyrinth-like dungeons return in the sequel and could one be located in the forest of Faron perhaps even at the Dragons den?

      Don't be fooled with all these TH-cam channels saying how the Zonai will be important to the sequel. Nobody knows that for sure. As far as what you wrote.... technically the Divine Beast were Labyrinth like dungeons on a scale that we've never seen before.

    • @sonymicronin
      @sonymicronin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@Latinofire202 I don't need TH-cam channels to tell me what I can see with my own eyes through my own observations. It's in my own opinion from what I know from the first game and what I've seen from the sequel that the Zonai tribe will be important to BotW 2. Also when talking about the size of the Divine beasts (which size was the focal point regarding the previous alluded to labyrinth-like dungeons) they do not at all fit the description of "scale of which the series has never seen before", in fact even the largest and most complex Divine beast(Vah Naboris) is still smaller than most dungeons in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. That's not even mentioning the referenced comparison to Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time which the Divine Beasts are completely dwarfed by and the only dungeons even close were Hyrule Castle in BotW and the City in the Sky from Twilight Princess. So sure, "technically" the Divine are dungeons on a scale the series has never seen but that's only if you disregard the rest of the statement... Otherwise they're simply dungeons the series have never seen before.

      Maybe BotW2 will have an underworld. In many Zelda games (particularly ALttP and ALBW) there is a second map that you can switch between. What if BotW2 introduces the “Underworld” a large expanse of caves and tunnels beneath Hyrule that act as a second world map. This would also act as a reference to how Zelda 1’s manual described the land of Hyrule as having an overworld and an underworld filled with labyrinths.
      Forget about dungeons. Imagine a *world map* entirely made of dungeons and caves

      Which, sure, the Sheikah probably the ones to create necromancy on the orders of the Hyrulian Royal Family (then...most likely got wiped out for their trouble once finished), but at most all these are is Frankenstein’s Monster as “Biological Experiments” vs a true defense.

      @@SalvableRuin To think of a Hyrule so corrupted and distorted that it's very fabric can be tortured beyond endurance is disturbing. • @anonymousfellow8879
      @anonymousfellow8879 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Hidden Desire
      Which...if he sought redemption? The only events he’d be seeking forgivness for would be the fates of the Gerudo, Sheikah, and Twili.
      TP had SEVERAL forms of genocide heavily implied, which were the direct result of OoT Ganondorf getting apprehended before he did a thing. The Sheikah are relocated to what’s essentially a Camp and are left to rot while they “wait for the messenger of the heavens” with no help in sight (as they were already functionally extinct well before Old Kakariko got sacked.) It’s hinted that the Twili were probably a mix of Yiga and Gerudo who protested (and were either slaughtered or banished)
      New Kakariko’s remaining two natives bear traits of both Sheikah and Gerudo, so it’s likely that the Gorons sheltered them until it was safe enough for them to rebuild generations later (thus creating the alliance between the Tribe and Village).
      And if you go into Castletown? Various characters and crowd npcs either have Gerudo and/or Sheikah physical traits despite being hylian (implying forced intermarrying to destroy those cultures...which unfortunately is a very real thing in IRL History), or outright appropriate their symbols (many of which are probably sacred to the original groups)
      Renaldo also mentions that TP Link’s actions reminded him of “the Hero” ...despite OoT’s events having been prevented. (Assuming OoT Link is the Stalfos Hero...despite that build being too large/NO OoT Contemporary ever wore anything similar to that armor...but whatever)
      But if a Past Hero tried to prevent a genocide he accidentally triggered? That WOULD create its own legend as well as give that Hero the sort of shame that’d doom him into becoming a stalfos

      I want the Zonai to be a Monsters’ Society, since they predate Hyrule, Monster Societies and neutral NPCs have existed since literally the first game (and one even became a sage in LBW), and the game’s “darker” while still continuing on BotW’s Themes of Redemption&Restoration
      Time to acknowledge Hyrule’s bloodsoaked past! (Which didn’t JUST stop with the monster races; oh no, it literally includes anyone non-hylian. And it was King Roame’s insistence on the “traditions” (and gender roles) that crippled Zelda and therefore doomed the land)

      RisingDiving
      ...it’s...literally in the games since the very first one with Moblins who pay you off, and another enemy you feed in a dungeon? The “it’s a secret to everybody” being referenced ever since in several games, and often said by Monster NPCs? The Hidden Zora and the guy you get the boomerang from in LA? The Gerudo stuck in the desert and only surviving via thievery, and the Sheikah functionally extinct? Genocide outright confirmed for the Gerudo and Twili in TP with the Sheikah basically extinct yet again because they were forced into isolation By Royal Decree? The Gorons treated as Second Class in TP while a rich zora kid was refused life-saving treatment in the same game and the Yeti slaughtered for pelts despite being Friendly NPCs, and the Rito treated as Second Class in WW while the Gorons felt the need to disguise themselves? LBW outright having a “monstrous” River Zora as one of the Sages?
      BUDDY. It’s *been* there since the start. OoT, TP, and BotW specifically say off-hand “bloody and greed” in association to Hyrule’s (and the Royal Family’s) History.
      And in SS? The bokoblins specifically have their own society mentioned with their love of skull ornamentation (FUNNY, same aesthetic for the BotW Barbarian Set, which has been heavily suggested&theorized to be Zonai in origin), as well as “their love of wearing flashy underwear” if you read Fi’s dialogue. That suggests they’re actually people vs weapon-wielding beasts.
      And now we’ve been promised a “As dark/darker than MM” game, as a sequel to a cathartic game that ended on Hope for Reconstruction, and a Brave New Hyrule. PLUS stuff about the Zonai with a pun meaning “mystery” as their name...which I come from an area where indigenous peoples are treated as “both mystic and savage” and many people believing these nations are either completely extinct or “deadbeats”, with common folk and politicians both spouting xenophobic bullshit...which also exists in MANY regions worldwide, including Japan where this series has been developed and has been known to borrow elements from its creator’s beliefs and themes from their history and the individuals’ actual lives.
      It’s Been There.
      Time to stare Checkov’s Gun in the face and unpack it while they rebuild this Brave New Hyrule

  • @anonymousfellow8879
    @anonymousfellow8879 5 ปีที่แล้ว +87

    I still think it’d be brilliant and extremely dark if:
    -Ganondorf was the “barbarian hero” in the tapestry
    (and wielding the trident-like OneHitObliterator as his weapon of choice since he could not use the MasterSword when a Hero never came...only to learn that he was the source of the Malice and then betrayed and sealed in probably the most graphic way to date)
    -the Zonai was a name given to a Monsters’ Society, but were destroyed by the Hylians, with their decendents either being driven from Hyrule, driven underground, or going feral as Usual Enemies. (There are plenty of Neutral NPCs to support this, as well as SnowPeak and the RiverZora having their own established society in LBW, including with a Sage being one of their own)
    -Rebuilding Conflict as Zelda and Link uncover the Sins of the Past (along with Ganondorf’s Corpse) and make the extremely unpopular decision to try and integrate monsters into Hyrulian Society, much like with Terrey Town. (Demise or not, no conflict exists in a vacuum. And hylian elitism/outright racism and frequent genocide of even “non monsters” has LONG been a theme in Zelda Lore.)
    -the Seal is No Seal At All, and what they saw (and what attacked Link) was an attempt to Harvest Malice to Resurrect Demise (not Ganondorf). The “Seal” and the Hand’s moveset is strikingly similar to the Sealed Grounds and Ghirahim (which, Ghirahim has the knowledge, motive, and lifespan as a Sword Spirit to actually do so. Plus, we had Fi referenced in various ways in BotW. And the Malice completely ignored the Hand, but was weeping from a mortal wound as Ganondorf cried out in eternal silent agony. I’m sorry, “good guys” don’t do any of that and still remain Good, the Seal did Nothing as the Malice did waaaay more than ANY Ganon(dorf) to date...and the fastest way to get someone to empathize with a so-called villain? Torture the villain.)
    -
    -
    (LA spoilers)
    -
    What made LA so dark was Link in that game functioned as the island’s antagonist, complete with the bosses pleading with him to reconsider what he was doing as they died. (Then of course the Island died, dream or not. Which, we already had a Dead Hyrule as a result of collecting long forgotten mcguffins with the best of intentions-and had Zelda been allowed to stay with the project? She might’ve discovered that flaw and either found a workaround OR put a stop to it all before it became too late. Oh...and Hylia’s underrated legacy in SS was creating and being the patron of technology, including robotics. She did more than just create Fi&sword. She also built a society of robots who continued their work long after the hylians went to the sky. Zelda’s academic and scientific pursuits were just as much a part of her divine lineage as “glowing it up”.
    So, we don’t need Ruined Land again.
    But we COULD have Learn from the Past, as “known history” is so rarely how things actually happened, and learning from the past vs relishing in “the good ol’ days” is *PAINFUL* but so needed (and always brings conflict with it naturally)

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel will be even darker than Majoras Mask. Remember those creepy looking monsters from their art? That stuff could possible be in the sequel.
    EDIT: I forgot to mention that Super Mario Galaxy had a sequel that came out 3 years later. The sequel to BotW was already in development for 2 and a half years so it's most likely it'll happen in 2020.

    I really like the idea that Link loses his right hand in the teaser trailer and it's replaced with some Guardian/Shiekah tech that can transform into various utilities (such as a hookshot, musical instrument, arm-laser etc.). It could make the game more like a traditional Zelda where you unlock new abilities throughout the game to gain access to new areas, since climbing mountains would be quite tricky with only 1 hand it would open new paths to exploring the world. Then we have lefty-Link back! It would work as a sequel too as Link will have to learn how to use a sword with his left hand thus starting the game out as inexperienced again.

    Imagine if the castle is actually just one giant corrupted flying fortress guardian, and all it does is fire lasers out in the overworld. What if that was the reason for going underground, and everytime you go to the overworld, you get sniped. That sounds dark, but I think it'd introduce unique gameplay, with Link having to somehow "blind" this guardian to safely access parts of the overworld. Once the fortress guardian is defeated, then maybe Link could enter the castle to defeat Ganondorf in the main castle hall. To keep things similar to BotW, you could enter the castle early, but because the fortress guardian is undefeated there would be insane security in the castle, with lasers firing off of many drone guardians that could surround it. My imagination is running WILD thinking about this game, and I should probably stop. One thing is for sure: BotW's sequel will be AMAZING!

    6:38 While you were talking about the Guardian Arm, I couldn't help but also notice Link using a broken Master Sword. That could've actually been neat: the power of Ganon + the Corrupted Guardians was so great that the Master Sword broke, and Link would wake up with the handle of the Master Sword in the Shrine of Resurrection and have that to fall back on if his other weapons break. He'd then need to collect the other pieces and bring it to the Lost Woods for it to be fully re-forged.
    That could be neat to bring back for the sequel: if the Master Sword is actually broken at one point and needs to be re-forged.

So if we apply the logic that he can’t use a sword on his right then he shouldn’t be able to use a shield on his right. Yes I know that this video is old but people still think that he’s going to use a sword on his left. Unless his right hand can turn into a shield or creates a magical shield then I don’t see Link using a sword in his left hand.

I expect that after initially getting corrupted by the green energy, it will continue to take over more and more of Link and part of the darkness Anouma mentioned will be with Link and Zelda's struggle to come to terms with Link's slow loss of self as both he and Zelda work together to defeat Ganondorf.

    I have a theory. The hand that is holding Ganon might be of a race we haven't seen yet. It is unlike any hands we've seen on the first game. The shape, the size of the nails, the jewelry, its all very foreign. So I came up with a whole speculation. Made a video about it. But thats scummy to just ask people to watch so I'll just state it.
    Maybe its a Zonai warrior. It doesn't look hylian, so it shouldn't be any link. The guy on Impa's monologue may look different, but if you see closely, the skin color and size of both Zelda and the guy in the painting is the same, heavily implying that is Link. So, its not the guy from the monologue either. Also, the guy fought the calamity, not Ganondorf, pretty sure Impa wouldn't mess that distinction up. So, I believe that this was an event from an even earlier time, where this Zonai warrior battled Ganon as he awoke from his TP stance. But there were no competent Zelda or Link at that moment. SO he battled Ganondorf and won. But as he isn't a descendant of Link, he couldn't land the finishing blow as he can't wield the master sword. So he had to just hold him there for eternity.
    The theory is far longer than that but I can't type much more. Care to give my theory a look?

Would give continuity to the cyborg link concept art & be a real dark tone to what the king was doing 10,000 years ago & how hyrule rose to power over the more advanced shika & even killed off the zonri... Under the castle dungeons/tombs would be where all the spider monsters & demons hang out/are spawned partly because of Gannon being imprisoned down there?

      @@WideMouth Too much of a time paradox if you ask me. 🤔😕😖 Plus if Ganondorf were to send Link back in time to the era of the first Calamity and starting an ENDLESS LOOP of time then that would make Link the living proof that the Zelda Universe is in fact *DETERMINISTIC* given that the Future was the reason why the Past ocurred in the FIRST PLACE.
      If EVERYTHING that we've EVER seen happen in Zelda has ALWAYS been predetermined from the very beggining then that would be evidence to suggest that the Golden Godessess and Hylia are nothing more than EVIL SADISTS for taking away FREE WILL and FORCING the people of Hyrule to endure Death and destruction at the hands of Ganondorf FOR ALL OF ETERNITY. 😣
