    A Zelda 2 that will surpass the original? Now that would be quite something. The only thing Breath of the Wild 2 needs to do is start out manageable and then gets tougher and tougher, unlike Breath of the Wild.

      God of war 2 started with maximum power and health then kratos puts all of it into his sword. Maybe Link will have to do a similar thing with the master sword that continually runs out of power.

    After the tutorial section, we will probably see the cutscene with dehydrated Ganondorf and Link gaining this mysterious green energy. My theory is that Link’s strength will diminish greatly after this cutscene. In the champion’s ballad, we saw that when Link picked up the One-Hit Obliterator, he lost nearly all his hearts due to some similar red energy. Now how is this relevant? Remember that this sequel is solely being created because the development team had too many ideas for the Champion’s Ballad. That means that is very possible for mechanics or concepts in the Champion’s Ballad will be seen in the sequel. The green energy cutscene and the red energy cutscene appear to be very similar. In both, Link seems to be exerting pain. So using this comparison, I think that game will probably start off with start you off with 30 hearts for the tutorial section. The reason for this is that Breath of the Wild’s sequel will take place directly after Breath of the Wild. Link is at his prime state by the end of Breath of the Wild or very close to it. After touching the green energy, Link’s hearts will drop to 3 or 6. So it will be manageable at first and get really hard after

    Majora's Mask was a masterpiece in most ways. Thematically my favorite. The diversity of the gameplay. The nostalgia connection, the humor, the sad, the feels. Plus the timeline offering so many options to explore and optimize. Simply amazing.

    • @xlnsmedia9329
      @xlnsmedia9329 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thematically, I agree, Majora's Mask is not a game; it is a piece of art. The surreal atmosphere, the dreamy land of Terminal; it was definitely something I had never experienced before in any medium. But to be honest; where Majora's Mask was a bit beneath Ocarina of Time was Temple design. The temples were well designed, don't get me wrong, but they seemed a bit on the unpolished side, relative to OoT. The progressive way to save the game when temples were taken on was also a bit tedious. But overall, an amazing game. Beneath OoT though, in pure gaming.

      anneliese kuhnhenn yessss id also love to see more significant members like imagine one of the sheikah characters becoming a traitor! One character that would fit perfectly is one of the guards the tall thin one feels a rivalry with the shorter one bc he sells carrots at the shop instead of pumpkins and the shorter one’s wife was murdered so what if it was actually the taller one the whole time? I know that sounds ridiculous but it’d still be cool to see 😁

      @Joshy Wait so you mean it would be interesting if Cado was the Yiga Clan member that killed Dorian’s wife? I think it would be awesome if more characters had to do with the Yiga Clan like Dorian, but I think it would be hard to fit Cado in the mix; since he has his own little story. You certainly brought up an interesting suggestion though.

    • @stormytehcat
      @stormytehcat 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Srimaan Aravamudhan That is pretty cool! There is so much that can be done, there’s no way of knowing what’s really going to be in the game. Maybe it won’t even include the Yiga Clan at all.
      But I think Master Kohga is for sure dead, but then again, we don’t really know what’s at the bottom of that pit. He was a pretty cool character so it would be nice to see him again, I think your way of bringing him back was cool. It’s hard to be realistic though. Since the Yiga Clan can teleport, then if Kohga survived he would just teleport out. That’s why I think he’s probably dead.
      Another thing though. I don’t think the spike ball that pushes him down the pit didn’t actually fall on him. If you look you can see the pit gets more and more narrow, meaning the ball would get stuck on it’s way down. Maybe if he did survive, this could be part of the reason?

    The lack of enemy diversity was my biggest gripe with the first breath of the wild.
    I also wasn’t a big fan of the divine beasts, though they could have been acceptable if there were enemies spread throughout them to fight.
    Last, of course, was much too easy of a final boss for such an epic game.

      @WideMouth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @BurntFossil Dark Beast Ganon was meant more to be a cinematic boss fight, rather than a challenging one. Every boss in BotW had a Divine Beast battle that was more for cinematics than for challenge, Dark Beast Ganon was Calamity Ganon’s Divine Beast battle.

      Plus the fighting wasn’t fun it was punishing, the more you kill enemies the stronger they become the more hp they have = more broken weapons. My strategy was to always use weaker weapons on enemies even if it takes longer to kill them so I can use the stronger ones on bosses, I didn’t have any fun doing that... Even Dark Souls (a game that supposed to kick your ass) doesn’t do that.

  • @Kristen242008

    I hope that there is a time in the game that, you have to go from one side of the map to the other. For example: You're in Akkala during a story quest toward the end of the game, and you need to go to Gerudo Town for something. For whatever reason, you can't teleport. So you have to travel on foot the whole way. The entire land is riddled with Yiga, Darknuts, and all kinds of nasty things. You gotta plan your path, and carefully track through the world. Say it's perpetual night (like in Wind Waker after visiting Greatfish Isle). (Another idea for this) Maybe you have to do it as Zelda as some boss infected Link with something. You gotta go get an ingredient to save him. Zelda can use her powers somewhat, but they require a lengthy cooldown, so stealth is key.

    • @AdventureHusky
      @AdventureHusky 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooo~ And what if Link and Zelda had differing abilities? Like Zelda cannot climb, use heavy weapons likes hammers, or use the para-glider, but she can use her magic to heal herself, light dark hallways without the use of torches, detect hidden enemies/secrets, sneak better than link can and use light magic. (Of course with cooldowns so it has to be used sparingly or you're as good as dead) And for that mission its interchangeable depending on who you picked to play at the start or if your character got hurt or not during the battle. (Zelda must bring the master sword to Gerudo town to convince the chief to get Link some help and if it breaks or you lose it then its game over / She must take Link's place in a trial of the sword type deal in order to get the ingredient) Also depending on choice of player there are different paths available to either Link or Zelda to take during the trek. Both paths have different enemies, items to collect and bosses to face. (I think it should also be available to the player to go through both areas later on in the game.)

    • @ZeikerYT
      @ZeikerYT 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be great. I don't think it is related but my dream thing in an open world game would be a world with interactions without the need of the player.
      Imagine an evil empire and a little town with a resistance group. You could sneak into the enemy base and hear that they plan to attack the resistance camp. You could tell to the leader to prepare defenses or you could tell nothing and watch how they are attacked by surprise. Or you could even be doing something in other part of the map and eventually discovering that the attack happened without your participation. Something like that would be truly realistic and amazing.

      @@marcusbrown7055 well the thing with age is it's not a factor tied to skill. I've seen 4 year olds pass a challenging game design puzzle faster than 25 year olds. BoTW is the type of game that is difficult at first and gradually becomes more manageable and easier the more you play and is designed to be a lot easier with the skills you acquire. I do think the game becomes way too easy with the Divine Beast powers and I do hope they remove those kinds of forced "power ups" in the sequel. Most games are generally easy because they cater to a large casual populace but will add some aspects so that more hard core challenge seekers can play the game with more difficulty.

    I really hope Darknuts make a return. Maybe take it one step further and have Darknuts on horseback in the over world.
    Edit: I had an idea. The Darknuts on horseback could be equivalent to Lynels in strength, using spears, claymores and bows, but they can be separated. The horse could be too loyal to let you mount them while the rider is alive, who will switch to a shield and one handed weapon. The horse could even join their rider in attacking by trying to run you down, and given the opportunity, the Darknut will remount their steed.
    Darknuts on foot could be proper officers in Ganondorf’s army, rallying weaker monsters to be more tactical. Archers would try to keep their distance and melee attackers would flank and surround you on a Darknut’s orders.

    I could definitely see the opening of the game being three dungeons underground before you make it out into the overworld again, only to find Ganondorf has completely changed it (A Link to the Past style perhaps). This is where you would be faced with multiple (6?) greater dungeons in order to gain the tools and skills you need to reach the elevated Hyrule castle and face a Demise-possessed Ganondorf for one final time. At the same time, you have the freedom to explore and do dungeons in any order you like, just in a darkened, manipulated Hyrule realm. DLC thoughts: a new map location you can travel to.

    Thank's a lot for your work an research guys, love your content.
    An idea also came through my mind while associating some of your hypotheses :
    The possibility of having a gaz mechanic implemented in the future opus, as we progress underground, that could make it a great challenge for Link's health and could represent an explosive factor. AND that we might have some trouble with undergrounds paths, through various levels, broke architectures or colapsed tunnels.
    What if, a new mechanic of gameplay that could be added was Destructible scapes ? Not just like some trees in BOTW or some designated walls in... all others opus of the Legend of Zelda. I mean, everything. That would be crazy right ?
    Like you have to go somewhere, but the way is blocked, you just blow the remains, using a new tool from your Sheikah slate, the natural gaz by blowing them up, or just good'ol bombs.
    But, leaving the player, the opportunity to blow everything up would quickly get to his heads and make it appealing to him to make the game unplayable. So an alternative for making it still playable would be to put some boundaries between what's destructible to what's not, maybe like the crazy mysterious Zonai architectures. Not the ones with the cute symbols in the ruins, I mean the walls that fills the grate Labyrinth
    OR, that's a stretch, but time control like you suggested at some point of your serie. Like where you can cancel all the booming you did, a bit like in Majora's Mask, where all your actions can be erased - plus some possibilities for some dungeons and maybe seing the Zonais at their own time and era of greatness. Or maybe more like Blinx (2002) were you can locally rewind / pause / speed up what you would aim at with Link's neat glowing hand ?.. or with the Luminous stones (like in Swkyward sword) that hypothetically makes the mastersword handle, or once again with a tool from the Sheikah slate (well I think the gimmick of this tool was perfect with BOTW, as we were bathed in ancient technology and Sheikah estethic... but re-using with simply some add-ons would be quite like a lack of creativity and constistency, I mean obviously the incoming title will be around Zonais).
    Anyway, hope my theory will ring some bells and make some sense ! Hope to see some more mind bending news and speculations.
    Ciao ~

    I don’t get why people keep complaining about the relative “paucity” of enemies in BOTW. Most of the enemies that are “missing” are typically confined to dungeons. Since there are no typical dungeons, what’s the point of having them? BOTW had a heavy focus on the overworld and considering that, the number of enemies seems sufficient. Frankly, most enemies from previous Zelda games have been pretty forgettable. I think the only other enemies I would have loved to see from previous Zelda games are dark nuts and gibdos. But I don’t see how those would have fit in the theme of the divine beasts or any of the shrines. Maybe as a nice addition to _Trial of the Sword_

    I have to say that was my ONE major gripe about BotW, punishingly difficult in the beginning but then once you get the ball rolling it's a cake walk. I was so disappointed to realize the difference between my first and only loss to calamity ganon and my eventual victory was just preparation. If it weren't for that it would have been an EASY 10/10 for me(and I'm not much of a zelda fan to begin with). Still loved it though, can't wait for BotW 2

  • @DKCreo

    I really hope that it is the most difficult. I still believe one of the biggest issues in BotW, apart from the Champion perks you receive being kind of OP, is that you can carry an absurd amount of food / potions / whatever to the point where you're never really that far in danger, even if you were. . . It's way too accessible to just heal all of the time.
    I'm really looking forward to more enemy variety types and what they could bring to the table, new original bosses, a change in mechanics, etc.

    I think one thing is obvious with BOTW 2 (title pending) Whatever happens with Link he'll probably lose his Sheikah slate powers and probably all his Champion abilities and will either regain them later or will gain new abilities in the games new abilities.
    I honestly think the game will be the polar opposite of BotW, where as Breath gives an great openess I think Breath 2 will be a lot more claustrophobic with narrow caves with dark lighting where you don't where or if there is an enemy about to strike from out of sight.

    My theory for why Link would have been reset to only have 3 hearts at the start of BotW. Say he had a fully maxed out set of hearts when he is "killed" in the events 100 years prior to the game, then why wouldn't he have at least the capability of recovering all of his hearts? Simple, the heart containers he had collected were all used up even further than just being used up for the hearts he had. The containers themselves were absorbed during the healing process with the help of Shiekah technology as a last last last backup for Link. And if this is what happened, then they were all used up over the 100 years. Only when the last bit of them was spent was Link pulled back from the brink of death, and this long process is why it took 100 years for him to wake up. Idk could be a cool theory

    My prediction on the opening cutscene of the game based on this video and the comments:
    The black screen lights up but still stays dark and dreary. All you can see is stone. You realize that you're in a narrow cave, only lighted by the torch you're holding. Due to loosing the slate and any bags/pouches you caried earlier in the cutscene, the torch and any clothes you wear (Yay clothes) are the only things on your person right now. You hear heavy breathing behind you and turn around expecting to see your out of breath companion. But instead you are faced with...
    2 Dead hands
    12 Redeads
    4 Darknuts
    1 Shadow Link
    3 terrifying monsters that are clearly new inventions
    and 1 Ooca (just for the creepy factor)
    Cutscene ends and you gain control of the character.
    There you go, the darkest, hardest and shortest Zelda game ever. You're welcome.
    (If you can't tell: I'm joking and nothing in this comment should be taken serious)

    An easy fix would be to limit how much you can eat. I think that's the main way it could get tougher. Other than that, giving the dungeons a set order will also make pacing the difficulty easier. Finally more optional bosses will be good patches for people that are hardcore Zelda fans. I just cannot expect Nintendo to ever make a final boss hard enough, since they expect even new players to beat them. I can only expect that the build up to the confrontation is better.

    NOTHING will surpass the difficulty of Zelda 2. But the Zelda games got progressively easier for a long time until you stopped feeling any sense of accomplishment when doing something that's supposed to be difficult. When I was little, I felt like a god when I first beat Super Mario Bros and ran around telling everyone excitedly... I literally ran out of my house yelling "I SAVED THE PRINCESS!! at the top of my lungs." I want a Zelda game that's brutal from beginning to end! Where's the thrill of victory without the agony of defeat? Now, I'm not talking about the stuff that's just tedious, like the OOT Water Temple or wandering the overworld for days because the last dungeon is hidden behind an unmarked wall with no hints whatsoever. But the original "Nintendo Hard" games were beaten by SIX-YEAR-OLDS, and this was in the 80s when it's not like every solution was on the Internet. I think we're up to the challenge too!

    LoZ:BotW 2 will likely be more difficult than its predecessor, and the introduction of a "mummified" Ganondorf is a signal that more "un-dead" enemies will show up in this sequel. I say this because the "un-dead" enemies in most (if not all) LoZ games have been exceedingly more difficult to destroy than the "living" enemies (Stalfos-type enemies being the obvious exception). Re-deads, Vires, Gibdos, Skulltulas, Evil Poes, and Wallmasters are likely to make an appearance in this upcoming game, and of course the toughest of LoZ enemies (like the Darknuts and Iron Knuckles) might make an appearance alongside an "un-dead" version of each...just to ramp up the dark and creepiness factor. Good luck getting to sleep after you tangle with one of these ghoulish gangsters!

Kids are getting better and better at video games and older players, like myself, grew up on more difficult Nintendo games. Nintendo, give us what we are begging you for and we will pay you! Also, bring back ALL previous Zelda games on the switch. Or at least OOT, MM, WW, and TP. Again, we will gladly pay you for your efforts.

    Some people like agonisingly hard fights and dungeons, but... I'm not a masochist like some gamers, and I don't enjoy it when a game kicks you in the ribs with puzzle and combat difficulty that makes your being hurt. Imo it significantly takes away from the fun when you die every 10 seconds or get stuck on one dungeon for months because every puzzle takes days to figure out without a guide - so I definitely hope that _if_ they do decide to fuel up the difficulty by an extreme amount, they add a way to set it to preference like you guys mentioned or make it a separate hero mode altogether!

    What if the ganondorf part is in the beginning of the game and we do start with 30 hearts and 3 stamina wheels, but as soon as they awaken ganondorf they will reset to 1 stamina wheel and 3 hearts. Like it would give new player the chance to learn how stuff works and make sense because you actually see Link losing his power.

    I wonder how the game will start concerning the Master Sword. Starting with 3 hearts and an un-upgraded Champions Tunic I can understand as starting equipment. But if this was supposed to be the third DLC before it became an official Sequel, then, story wise, it stands to reason that we’ve completed the Trial of the Sword and the final trial. So how will they justify either keeping it at 60 strength or weakening it? Will be at full power at the start of the game, then something happens to weaken it again or even break it, and we have to spend some of the game either regaining it’s strength or reforging it? Thoughts/video?

    I haven't watched the video yet, as I'm at work, but I just wanted to throw in what I would want for the next botw. I want temples, more music, and a better story/NPCs. After all the hype from the first one, I was let down with those three things. I miss the temples. Getting items to defeat the boss specifically for the temple and feeling like you actually got through a hard level instead of 120 mini puzzles or fights. Plus, the themes for all of them were pretty much the same. Same looking monk, same colors, same style of entry, etc. Even some of the puzzles were similar. The soundtrack feels so limited and a small compared to something like Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword or Wind Waker. At least give us an option to play older songs while traveling on horseback instead of the dainty piano. I want something dramatic when I am riding up on a hoard of enemies. The story was very blah to me. I know that's because it was open world so the story and even memorable characters had to be spread thin, but it still bothers me. It felt like I didn't have a legit story with a proper sequence, most of the characters I talked to for one specific area and then never again, like Sidon or something, some of them were even just flashbacks, so I could never really get to know the character. Now, don't get me wrong, I have clocked in so much time into botw, it's a massive and gorgeous game that I love to just gallop around in and pretend I am some kind of traveling merchant. I just wish some things were different, as I am sure everyone does. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

    In another video, you mentioned that all the races were present in Terry Town, but they are not. The Zonai descendants in the tropical town were never brought into the towns construction. Why is that and what could that mean for Breath of the Wild 2?
