I remember this time when they first aired Superman on tv . Coming back to school it was all my class mates could talk about. Man, how times have changed. If it was a favorite movie, you had to wait till it aired on tv. We never even got a vcr until ‘86. We truly treasured these moments.
Love the videos. Brings back a lot of memories, a trip down memory lane. Keep up amazing work.. Remember that Monday night movie theme, as if it was yesterday..
Thanks for including the “Let’s Get Physical” intro. I thought that I was watching an 80s yoga class at first. ONJ is a super classy lady with a great attitude especially in the face of her cancer.
@2:28 70s and early 80s supermodel and reality show star Janice Dickinson! Fun fact: She famously dubbed herself "The World's First Supermodel" helping to popularize the word.
For some reason I remember those Hertz commercials but I was born 7 months after this.. I turned 37 yesterday in fact.. Did they show those throughout the 80's possibly?
I actually remember these ads our abc affiliate is still komo 4 and oh man so cool to see those commercials again especially one of my faves fall guy Americas greatest hero and mcdonalds mcnuggets right when they first came out
I miss this idyllic time. Star Wars had not yet completed, as we knew it then anyway and playing with the toys wasn't limited by the knowledge of the conclusion. It was about a year before we got cable with HBO and Cinemax (where I would later see "Cannery Row"), and MTV so I was still seeing network shows like "The Fall Guy" and "Hart to Hart." I remember getting Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" album.
Exactly.Last week I got a Pan Pizza, and it was......disappointing.I ate maybe 2-3 slices, and just let the rest sit and go bad.The bean counters took over a long time ago, cutting corners, lowering quality and making up for the lost customers by flashy ads that bring the kids in who don't know what good pizza tastes like.
5.Ayyy 👍 12. Wait till Alexa and smartphones 16. Pepsi, playing Cupid aww 26.Their tech malfunction?! Wow! 21. Without HD?! Wow! 32. Oh man..let us get physical indeed! 34. You can say that again
Michelob-nowadays Dan would text her to meet him after work Happy Days-the classic"Fonz meets his idol, the Lone Ranger" episode Pepsi-girl had a creepy stare.. The Jerk-HE HATES THESE CANS!! Superman end credits-gotta love that very last one-"NEXT YEAR-SUPERMAN II" Hetrz-OJ probably also dreamt of owning a white Bronco.. Olivia Newton-John Physical-had Baywatch been around back then this probably wouldve been her audition reel
If some of these are the same commercials, I’m not sure I want to risk repeating the same jokes. Although, I don’t remember saying, “Dang, Rene Russo”. - I guess I might as well mention that I remember that GE soft bulb commercial airing a lot. That is underrated when mentioning good commercials like that. - I’d hate to think what else OJ would be dreaming about. -Sigh. Permission granted in indulging, but only for about 30 seconds. “Sand, or the 80’s...”? Really?
2 - I actually have (had at one point) all the depicted games in that ad (The 4-switch console I got at an earlier yard sale has since gone crazy. But not the six-switch, from a later yard sale, with the included Paddles and both Super Breakout and Asteroids, and others)
I got my console later that year and it included Combat and Super Breakout, joysticks and paddles. It was still called the "Atari Video Computer System" and not yet the Atari 2600.
People always say this but he was born in March of '68. This commercial has a 1981 copyright stamp. Which means he would have been only 13 in the ad. I don't think it's him.
It's so weird to see "New Chicken McNuggets at McDonalds"
I would go back to the 80s in heart beat .
Graduated high school back in 1985. This brings back fond memories 😊.
gentlegiant6585 I graduated 84, very fond memories
I graduated in 1984.....Great Memories.
Crazy I remember all these commercials

Blue skies forever Olivia 💙

Long live the 80's........

"The World's First Supermodel" helping to popularize the word.
MsFarzee I was hoping I wasn’t the only one to notice her
Best...decade...ever!
Ahhh Atari. The days before online gaming where 12 year olds are calling you every thing under the sun.
This was the network television premiere of Superman. Quite a big deal!
I'm sure we've all dreamed of jumping over suitcases at one point in time.
For some reason I remember those Hertz commercials but I was born 7 months after this.. I turned 37 yesterday in fact.. Did they show those throughout the 80's possibly?

You just described MY life at the time...I wish it was possible to live all of that over again. Seems like a fairytale now
That ONJ segment would be considered too deep for today's limited attention generation.
Pizza hut, when it was good and a treat to go eat.

6:55 - I can think of many words to describe Juicy Fruit Gum. "Fascinating" is not one of them.
yusakug I was fascinated about thinking what chemicals they used to make that kind of flavor.
Lol
Very impressive quality!
It's too bad to know Pizza Hut is planning to get rid of being able to dine-in at their locations.
At least the servers won't be forced to serve the pizza without wearing a heat mitten anymore.
5.Ayyy 👍

Who would have guessed O.J Simpson was such a nut case.
Rennee Russo and Janice Dickinson in the Silkience commercial! Cool!
I knew that the other woman was young Janice Dickenson! 👍
@ 6:40, I never heard that jingle for Juicy Fruits. It isn't catchy and not in the same class like it's superior successor jingle
Senior year of high school.
Michelob-nowadays Dan would text her to meet him after work
Happy Days-the classic"Fonz meets his idol, the Lone Ranger" episode
Pepsi-girl had a creepy stare..
The Jerk-HE HATES THESE CANS!!
Superman end credits-gotta love that very last one-"NEXT YEAR-SUPERMAN II"
Hetrz-OJ probably also dreamt of owning a white Bronco..
Olivia Newton-John Physical-had Baywatch been around back then this probably wouldve been her audition reel
16. The girl in the Pepsi commercial looks very familiar.
I was thinking the same thing, lol .. I was born 7 months after this.. In fact I turned 37 yesterday
did love me some Atari in the 80s.... but how about that Olivia Newton John special?! now that's 80s AF!
Wtf is Olivia talking about
Sand.
I'm confused too 😂

"'The Jerk' starring Steve Martin in the role he was born for!".....OW. That sounds like an insult.
It was part of the advertising for the movie: th-cam.com/video/goat7QZohhc/w-d-xo.html
This aired 7 months before I was born, lol
12. Atari Home Computers, is it me or does narrator sound like Jack Palance
? Or am I mistaken?
It's him.
www.google.com/search?q=Jack+Pallance+Atari
www.imdb.com/name/nm0001588/otherworks
jack palance the one and only one of my idols for me growing up
2:22 Damn! Rene Russo is fine af!
Nice quality video. :)
Another crop of fabulous vintage adverts! Gosh, I never knew the McNuggets weren't introduced til '83! I am as old as #ChickenMcNuggets! Cray cray!
They actually were first rolled out for test markets in 1981: th-cam.com/video/dU9e-GyTCSQ/w-d-xo.htmlm55s
I was only 6 at the time, but I remember watching this broadcast on TV at my grandparents house!
2 - I actually have (had at one point) all the depicted games in that ad (The 4-switch console I got at an earlier yard sale has since gone crazy. But not the six-switch, from a later yard sale, with the included Paddles and both Super Breakout and Asteroids, and others)

I think the kid in the aim commercial is Jason Lively who played Rusty Griswold in European Vacation and Chris in Night of the Creeps

@@80sCommercialVault Totally fooled me, that would make him a giant at 13.
@@80sCommercialVault Nah, that ain't him.
@@80sCommercialVault agreed, not him.
I was 10 months old!
