Lately I was angry with God and kept asking why he will give me such a difficult life ( childhood & teen abuse from single parent household ) that have made adulthood unnecessarily difficult with healing and unlearning and relearning stuff. After seeking answers I realized God didn’t want such a life for me, the enemy and my abusers did that to me. The only one on my side who has been there since has been God. He is close to the broken-hearted ( which is me) , by his wounds I am healed of my trauma ( he chose to suffer ) , he is acquainted with my grief, he will never leave me not forsake me, his word renews my mind from all the lies I’ve been told , he has promised to give me beauty for ashes, he will restore my wasted years , ….. As a believer, it’s important to embrace your artistry, especially with fashion, because God's personality is artistic. But you don’t need to buy designer clothes to put on a good outfit. Remember, just because you can buy expensive clothes doesn’t mean you have style.
This pod is so on time. I literally experienced a mental attack last night at about 1:50 am. It woke me up crying out loud. That dissection of the word scarcely is so helpful to those of us who battle a defeatist mindset. One of the temptations or lies that I battle is the thought of being beyond redemption. In those moments I feel pressed to abandon faith because the enemy says to me that I won’t make it because I am not part of the “scarce” group that make it. But to hear that the scarcely might also be seen as “you will experience hardship, and be saved through it” (paraphrase) was so encouraging.
You may want to check out a book,' "SHUT UP, DEVIL!" by Winkler. I'm telling you when Winkler breaks down a lion's nature when he's after prey and likens it to the enemy's behavior as it does in the Bible verse, you'll get a whole epiphany. Look at what David did yet The Bible refers to him as " a man after God's own heart".

Overall I love their podcast so straightforward and authentic . I love when Preston said leaders fall off due to warfare. I think a huge problem is too many don’t pray for leaders they admire their gift more than caring for the person behind the gift . So many leaders who get involved in scandals have people who praised them turn quick. That means y’all didn’t love them from the beginning just liked their gifts smh. They both have a unique style.. her style is not like most women. (Revealing) it’s more on the Tom boyish side. So for him to like it, I assume that he loves her for who she is ( her swag ) .

This fall trees are perfect example. God made these beautiful specimens for us to look at; and admire and they are lifted up in praise to Him.
The issue is we can do this well and we can get it wrong a thousand ways: Obsessing about clothes Being known for being well dressed instead of more important things Temptation to debt spend Temptation to pride Temptation to be seductive thirst traps Owning waaaayyy more than we need Being immodest by being extravagant Collecting as in 100s of pain of Nikes Personally, I spent about 20 years in this obsession. A lot of debt. I got into buying vintage perfume on ebay. I researched all the ways to authenticate the bottles and boxes. I spent time combing for just the right bottle at the best price. It took a lot of time and money. I had about 4 dozen bottles till I quit. The irony: the Lird gave me a chemistry that eats perfume. It doesn't matter what I put on, it disappears in minutes. None of the smelling all the notes at different stages!! Ask God to help you dress beautifully, feminely, and modestly within a limited budget of time and money. It's not eternal. Don't give it inordinate focus. I had a friend before the internet was big and everyone was trying to live like a pseudo Katdashian. I noticed her that almost her entire life was about her appearance: She was either shaving or showering or blowing her hair out or running or at the gym or on her home workout equipment or at the mall or doing her face or getting waxed or getting her hair done or getting her nails done or or or. Looks, looks, looks. Now it seems EVERYONE is like this!!!!!!!! And we accept 10 hours a day on our looks....Basically a full time job .....as NORMAL. Amy Grant's mom had been raised by a beauty queen. She was so sick of her mother's vanity that she raised her daughters to check themselves in the mirror ONCE before leaving the house and then NOT look in the mirror again fir the rest of the day. That's why when you're serving God, you HAVE to concecrate yourself. The Lord tells us that we have to be separated and Holy. The spiritual attacks may come, but if you keep killing your flesh and repenting, you feel less of this effect... Just as soon as I wrote this, it just spoke to me.

I think you explained what you mean very well. I’m from the other end. Deliverance comes only from the Lord and not the dr or councilors and sometimes I think we run into what you said in the beginning, sometimes it’s not demons, sometimes it’s discipline!! I’ve always had a very strong sense of personal taste and I have always received compliments the way I dress. But I never followed my peers when I was in my 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and now that I’m in my mid-60s and I still give compliments from every age group because I think personal style you look comfortable, you look unique you have a point of view, my brother used to laugh and say I had a little bit of androgyny to the way I dressed with feminine touches- after I had children, in my 40s, I stopped wearing dresses altogether, and I was a rare dresswear as it was. I’ve ministered in music since I was 19 and I don’t believe in singing songs from 1980. I have always stayed current with what is happening and how God is moving. And I guess that reflects even in my clothes.

It’s crazy I just had some books come in the mail today about Greek mythology and another book about all the different religions and what they believe so I can teach my little about different religions. Every single time we’re out she sees logos or statues we literally can’t go anywhere without seeing things that are contrary to God and she has SO many questions so I’d like to be able to answer them accordingly.

(Due to the many issues going on in the body of Christ RN and other things to take into account.) either way I just love JHP and the way she divides the scripture with grace reverence and fear for the lord. Love that perspective on fashion being an outlet for creating beauty. However, that was hard to listen to for me. I can't ever imagine a time in my life when I will be in a situation where I can afford to view clothes this way. Even thrifted clothes cost money (and time to find). So it brought up some issues for me. I'd love to see a conversation sometime about how wealthy Christians and those on tight incomes can coexist in a kind way. Where is the line between flexing the freedom you have with your resources, and not causing a brother or sister to stumble into coveting that experience?

I love yall. I pray the LORD'S will for your FAMILY. I saw a short of a couple who declared they will NEVER play or casually use the D word (divorce). It's not ever on the table, so why even joke about. Not even allowing others to joke in that way. And I LOVED that as a strong standard.
That's why when you're serving God, you HAVE to concecrate yourself. The Lord tells us that we have to be separated and Holy. The spiritual attacks may come, but if you keep killing your flesh and repenting, you feel less of this effect...

Can we please have an episode on kids with parents that divorced? I need the Lords help! I was 15 years old and it shook my world and now at the age of 30 I KNOW their divorce plays a huge parts in my friendships and relationships.

That idea of being proactive in teaching children about the different things and contradictions in the world. I wish I’d done that with my older kids. I have had to have reactionary conversations with them. But for my youngest I will be intentional about preparing him.

Y'all really out here helping us understand the Bible at such a normal level and low-key it makes me feel like because you guys discuss God so casually (not negative because it's very serious in everything you guys say) but it feels so casual, the conversation that we know on a regular day, if that camera wasn't on, you guys would still be discussing God in the same manner.... And compared to the " teachers" we have AKA pastors, they preach in such a way that it feels like "do you talk about God on a day to day in the same manner?" it doesn't seem natural

While I love Preston and Jackie.. Why would she start the show by saying, "Fun fact, Preston wants to divorce me?" Even if it is a joke, some things you do not put out into the atmosphere. Also, there are some things you should never joke about. My hubby and I agreed that the "D" word would never be mentioned in reference to our marriage. We ain't given the enemy no room. These are just my thoughts and opinions.

Deliverance comes only from the Lord and not the dr or councilors and sometimes I think we run into what you said in the beginning, sometimes it’s not demons, sometimes it’s discipline!! I’ve always had a very strong sense of personal taste and I have always received compliments the way I dress. But I never followed my peers when I was in my 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and now that I’m in my mid-60s and I still give compliments from every age group because I think personal style you look comfortable, you look unique you have a point of view, my brother used to laugh and say I had a little bit of androgyny to the way I dressed with feminine touches- after I had children, in my 40s, I stopped wearing dresses altogether, and I was a rare dresswear as it was. I’ve ministered in music since I was 19 and I don’t believe in singing songs from 1980. I have always stayed current with what is happening and how God is moving. And I guess that reflects even in my clothes.

It’s crazy I just had some books come in the mail today about Greek mythology and another book about all the different religions and what they believe so I can teach my little about different religions. Every single time we’re out she sees logos or statues we literally can’t go anywhere without seeing things that are contrary to God and she has SO many questions so I’d like to be able to answer them accordingly.

I genuinely be cracking up ! while also receiving a ton of gems ,💎 theological wisdom, and just food for thought,to really sit back and dwell on once the pod is finished. Also I truly believe the lord specifically chose JHP and Pres for a divine cause.. possibly to reach and edify the cog who are seeking salvation but don’t know the word and how to properly divide it. and community but don’t feel comfortable in a church. (Due to the many issues going on in the body of Christ RN and other things to take into account.) either way I just love JHP and the way she divides the scripture with grace reverence and fear for the lord. We need more of this kinda leadership in the body instead of all the divisive rhetoric going on now’s . Now With that being said I wish i could have asked a question surrounding fashion, it’s crazy I was just thinking about that exact topic and not knowing how to feel about it.

Love that perspective on fashion being an outlet for creating beauty. However, that was hard to listen to for me. I can't ever imagine a time in my life when I will be in a situation where I can afford to view clothes this way. Even thrifted clothes cost money (and time to find). So it brought up some issues for me. I'd love to see a conversation sometime about how wealthy Christians and those on tight incomes can coexist in a kind way. Where is the line between flexing the freedom you have with your resources, and not causing a brother or sister to stumble into coveting that experience?
