Recently my 9 year old and I started reading a few scriptures every morning before school starting in Matthew. We discuss what the scriptures mean, how the effect our life and how to apply them to our lives. I give everyday examples & scenarios to ask her how she would respond & how God would want her to respond. Two weeks ago she memorized the Lord’s prayer and we broke down what each line meant. We also pray in the car on our way to drop her off in the morning to school. Hopefully the simple instructions God gave me inspires someone. Ask Him and direct your path😊❤️

Hello, I just want to suggest something to those with kids who are very busy (or if you are just struggling to make time for God). 1) My mom (she was a single parent to 4 kids) used to keep a bible in the bathroom. She would lock herself in the bathroom sometimes to get away from us and read the bible and pray. She had to be at work at 6am; so if she was running late, she would read the bible and talk to Jesus as she was getting ready. 2) Keep a bible in your car and pray in your car. I do this a lot (praying in the car), especially on long trips or when I have a busy day full of errands. If you have kids and you have to wait in a long pick up line at their school, or you're waiting for them to get out of practice, try to use that time to spend with God and study His word. 3) Get a crockpot; your kids/spouse will not die if they have to eat leftovers. When we complained about leftovers, my mom would say, 'feel free to cook for yourself' or 'there are people who are STARVING and would be grateful for what you complain about'. Sorry to be so long winded, God bless.

I know the Bible fairly well, but have learned more about a relationship with God in the past year than I have in my entire life… simply by listening to the two of you. You are both having a profound influence on the world. ❤

Grace is available for you to live a Godly life, having greater Godly habits! He gatchu sis, one step at a time♥️ 2nd Corinthians 12:9A "My Grace is sufficient for You, for My Power is made perfect in weakness." literally Preston's testimony from Minute 39:13 of the episode and Jackie too ofc as the episode moves on. Girl the one thing we're sure of is The Spirit, God is always victorious! So you gon win sis because He won for you already on the cross sis. The struggle is only for a little while, and God is willing to help you. He sees you, He hears you, He answers you more than you ask, think or even imagine. He loves you so much, to death and resurrection. Let Him in the struggle sis, He waits with you and delivers you and honors you! So much love in The Lord! Read Philippians 4:6 -7 and surrender your day "Upon Waking" before the day and it's distractions try to hit you. Let us know when you overcome, testify sis!!!

I agree 100%. God gives us the desires of our heart. He gives us what we should desire. I’ve had periods where I just wasn’t as passionate for the word for one reason or another. And when I asked God to give me a new desire and longing he did.
But here’s the catch: you can’t wait for the desire to come before you start acting. People think desire will help develop the discipline but it’s reverse: DISCIPLINE DEVELOPS DESIRE. I started disciplining myself to read the word and then the desire came.
You don’t have to feel like reading the word to do it. Sometimes I don’t feel like brushing my teeth at night but I do it so I won’t have cavities. I found that the more I prioritized reading the word, the more my desire/appetite grew for it.

Thank you for your channel! I just finished reading your first book, and it was absolutely incredible. What stood out even more was how the message goes beyond just the topic of being gay-it resonates with everyday life and can be applied to any struggle, addiction, or challenge we face. It beautifully shows how the grace of God meets us wherever we are and empowers us to grow.
    ---
I feel like God has been teaching me so much lately, and I just wanted to share what’s been happening in my heart and mind. Because of my ADHD and dyslexia, focusing on one thing has always been a challenge. My thoughts tend to scatter, and it’s easy for me to get overwhelmed. But recently, I’ve started Bible journaling, and it’s been helping me stay engaged with Scripture in ways I never expected.
At first, I felt pulled in every direction-I wanted to explore every translation of the Bible and bring it all together into one journal. But in His kindness, God has been leading me to slow down and focus on just a small part of Scripture: John 1-7. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been intentionally sitting with chapter 3, letting it soak in, and God has been pouring knowledge into me little by little. It’s like He’s teaching me not just to read but to stay with one thing, to be present, and to truly absorb it.
This process of narrowing my focus has been so life-giving, and I’m realizing that learning to complete just one thing at a time is exactly what I needed. God is working in me through this season, and it feels like a breakthrough.
I’d love to hear any thoughts or insights you might have-especially if you've ever experienced anything similar or have suggestions on staying focused in Scripture with a mind that tends to wander.
    God bless ❤❤❤

It’s so interesting as it is something I started working on actively today as I have been thinking about it for a while. I have a kid , woke up at 5.30 am to take care of my baby . First thing I said when I stood up from : thank you lord for this day. I was only able to get the baby to sleep at 8am … was equally sleepy and knew if I picked up by bible it won’t be effective so I decided to work out … after that I was able to read bible meditate and pray ….. So all the mamas out there find your routine but know it will require changing your habits and praying for strength, will , discipline and consistency. As you go through your day , keep your goals in mind at all times it helps you not get lost in distractions.

I Thank You Holy Spirit for having taught me all this right in the beginning of my walk with you. It's been almost 3 years and I've been mostly consistent with tithing my day by spending time with You first before I even touch my phone. And doing the same in reverse at night before I go to bed.
During the day we speak and share thoughts. I love to speak, worship, pray and praise You in tongues throughout the day in fact that is my default language with You lately.
It takes discipline and especially Your grace to always remember that You come first and last in my day. I could never be consistent in my walk without You.

Thank you, Jesus for Jackie and Preston. Thank you, Jesus, for using them as vessels to do you kingdom work and speak to hearts such as mine. I could say so much ... the story of my life right now is absolutely absurd.... It makes absolutely no natural sense, yet at the same time I wake daily amazed at the way the Holy Spirit is moving. Jackie, I honor you for your boldness. Thank you kindly for being who you are and speaking TRUTH in Love. Your words are profound, and you are a vessel for girls that are like me. I am a communicator, a creative, intellectual, discerning, and very misunderstood. I love hard, my heart breaks for the poor, the weak, the marginalized, the cast out. At the same time, I am country and loud, and bold, and often feel like (still do) there isn't a place or space that I can be used. I listened to a Pod Cast that you did with Dr. Jackie, and you so practically broke down yourself and talked about how that is the way that Jesus created you, and that is part of how you are used. That is, YOU and the "lump of clay" that Jesus is molding. That was a word for me. Thank you, I am grateful. Jesus is so sweet and kind to me. He answers prayers, OFTEN times in ways that I would never expect. You are the business girlfriend. If you are ever in little, tiny Jacksonville, NORTH Carolina - please get up with me! ha-ha! My gosh - the laughs you would have in this little town.... however, the LIFE and SHIFT that is happening through the Church (JESUS in the STREETS) is unusual. I have no idea how I found you and your podcasts and all of your messages that I have been watching, but I also know it's no coincidence. I am here for it.... with plans to stay!

Most of the time many of us get so easily distracted. I remember TD jakes saying something about the enemy would like nothing more than that you are so distracted, that you are merely just surviving. A lot of us are just getting through the day to day. Overwhelmed by so much. We fit God in, instead of centering Him. Some don't even take the time to read or pray during their day because the enemy is sending so many distractions. It's to keep us so bogged down we don't realize we are getting further and further away from our Source. We do choose to make time. We have to be deliberate about it because it truly is essential to our walk and relationship with God.

This message is sooo very timely. The Lord knows I've been battling distractions this whole year! & I've been a willing participant for a lot of them smh. Give us the courage & the strength Jesus to say 'No' to ALL assignments meant to deter us from your perfect purpose.
Thank you both for this message & for this wisdom. 🤍 I always walk away blessed & edified.

This topic is so good and so is Jackies book, I absolutely love itttt!!!!! Prayer in the morning, right after waking up is so crucial and I think of it as a mental tuning. Just like instruments must be tuned before playing, the mind to me is the exact same. We must tune and reset out mind to the right frequency towards God. We need him, he is our source and this world is draining. Filling yourself up before taking on the day is a must!!!

This conversation between you two has sparked so much new thoughts and life changing revelation. Honestly, Jackie I feel you too girl. I want to read so bad I do, but my phone has me in a chock hold and it's bad, but all I can do is work on it. Amen to this podcast, I approve it's real, open, honest, stays true to the bible. Thank you for your obedience. Don't forget that your yes to God it opening so many doors for you and y'all family. Stay blessed.

This was so good. Definitely going to listen again. I had a similar revelation about God with my prayer life. I just gave it to God because I was so fed up with myself....I said God only YOU can help me pray and not feel ridiculous or silly or like no one is listening or not get distracted. And He did and I know for a fact that He answers prayer and I don't have to struggle with this because He wants me and will do the transformative work. God is good!

I am definitely in my humble season… I’ve been wanting good job for some time now but while I was praying, God said “I’ve given you all you said you wanted when you were young but you don’t value it. You are already rich with family and love. Imagine if I would have gave you that job you always ask for… would you give me the glory? Would you treat it like blessings I’ve already given you?” Thank you Holy Spirit!!

Our daughter doesn't understand how if God is love, why didn't He scrap everything and if He knew Adam and Eve were going to fall, why even do it. How is that love? This has caused her to want to serve other deities😭 We've tried to explain it, but I just let God be God in her life. Here's the back story - She is 22, raised in church and had a love for God until around 14. Unbeknown to us she was abused sexually via online, she started hearing voices thinking it was God. She was diagnosed with bipolar at 17 and a lot came out via therapy. She is doing so much better now with therapy, psychiatrist, meds and support at home.

To speak on what Jackie said about the insecurity of not understanding the word I find that the way to tackle this issue is asking our Helper our friend our guide the Holy Spirit to guide us as we read the word that he may help us to better understand and interpret the word. And I know we like to be self reliant sometimes and we don't want to be always asking of God but when it comes to his word we need him to lead and guide us as we read, listen to, study and meditate on his word cause how can we expect to understand his word without him? I think we tend to forget that the Holy Spirit is always available to help us all that we need to do is ask for his help.

Wow! Praise the living God for this podcast. I've been struggling through a lot of inner turmoil, self condemnation and hope consistently deferred that i lost my appetite for Jesus for Holy Spirit for God and one of the most freeing statements mentioned was when Ev. Preston said "God knows you don't want Him"😮😢 i don't have to keep trying and keep fighting i just need to be honest with Him and just let Him give me a fresh love for Him. Thank you both for being such blessings and also love the longer podcast ❤ . . . .listening again😊

That was so good about the seasons. How time and ways of engaging & supping with the Lord varies in each season. Not that you we're giving Him less, but gave Him our best in that season- ie, up with the babies in middle of the night...can totally relate. Thank you so much for sharing because there, in evaluating myself, my heart's longing was/is to give the Lord my attention & devotion in every season, no matter what it looks like...my heart & life to Him. His grace is sufficient.💜

Honesty and transparency with God are key. I used to say "I hate having to admit it, and I get to admit, I don't want to read the bible". I prayed the scripture, "God continue giving me the desire and the power to do what is pleasing to you." I would ask for the desire to read the bible, and it became such a desire, I wouldn't want to stop reading because it became so interesting lol

Super rich. I haven't listened to your podcast for a while, but listened to several over the last days.
I love your deep discussions around truth. I love that tradition is stripped away (which i think is a stumbling block for many) and true relationship with the Lord, the messy and painful path of sanctification, a hunger to seek real truth in the Scriptures, transparency and vulnerabilty is a part of your discussions.
It is evident you have grown tremendously as individuals, a couple and in ministry through the years. AND you are so funny. 💕🥰
