On one hand, this is the easiest boss to beast without taking damage. On the other hand, if you DO take damage, you die in one hit. Very interesting boss fight, to say the least
Yeah break case first turn and then just jump a lot. Its really easy because the game compensates for that 999 damage by making a block negate ALL damage and me much easier while still getting you on your toes. On of my favorite bosses for that adrenaline rush!

The annoying thing about trying to fight this boss fight without dmg is that he cuts off the ice vellumental and x2 panels so you have to dodge his final cut everytime while youre trying to do lots of damage to him
If you don't take the cover off you get to fight the actual boss. He eventually still takes the cover off, but there's strategy to it if he does it and not you.

I actually thought it was kinda lame how he only uses Final Cut once the sheathe is off. He could have had some more variety, like splitting himself in two and slashing at you like swords once he realized Mario could dodge Final Cut and thus switch to an attack that wasn't nearly as telegraphed.

He also removes all bonuses like x2 and ice powers, though I'm sure you watched the video. Anyways, definitely check this version of the fight out.

When I broke the cover, the Ice Vellumental's circle was cut up and gone for the rest of the battle. Even when I opened a chest, it still didn't come out. I wanted to use the 1,000-Fold Arms to finish it off.
The virgin that don't break cover and use ice vellumental vs. The chad that break cover and dodge even the fast straight final cut (You can't use the vellumental if you break its cover earlier, also scissors is a yandere girl in japan version)
To be honest, I might have a strat for casual players, give the scissors the least amount of unsheathed turns possible. Don't break the cover, freeze it whenever possible, and kill it as quickly as you can.

No, you can choose not to break the cover, in which case he will remove it himself at 2/3 health remaining. Before then, he will actually do regular attacks.
Only if you don't break the cover, you can't use 1000 fold arms on him normally but if scissors takes the cover off himself then there will be an ice vellumental panel to freeze scissors with, once he's frozen you can then use the 1000 fold arms to attack
@@juanca2567 it's been 2 years so I might be misremembering but I think when scissors removes the cover it tries to do an insta-kill attack but you can jump over it
@@duckwantbreads That’s not my question. Can I break the cover and still be able to use the Ice Vellumental panel to get both the No damage and 1000 fold arms coin bonuses at the end of the fight. That was possible with Colored Pencils.

Meh I just had to dodge final cut once anyway. Then I froze him (I opened the chest along the way) and used 1000 fold arms. Easy boss

I got lucky in experiencing this boss in full glory. I broke the case, died once he was almost dead, and then did the normal route.

You can also freeze Scissors with the Ice Vellumental for big damage, and you don't even need to worry about dodging it.

It's only available if you don't attack the sheathe. Otherwise, Scissors cuts it up and it's unavailable for the rest of the battle.
