I am a German American whose grandparent spoke German at home and of course brought with them their German Christmas Traditions. I am going to be sending this video to my three sisters and my sister-in-law! We to love tinsel on our Christmas tree and collecting Christmas Ornament is a family cultural tradition as well! We do hide the “German Pickle” and the person who finds it on Christmas day when we traditionally open gifts after church - the finder of the pickle earns an additional gift! My mother always made Christmas stolen a family favorite she also made an assortment of cookies including Gingerbread Cookies and Sugar Cookies made with Almond flavoring. My mother also made several Fruit Cakes which she would make well before Christmas and wrap with Rum and Brandy soaked cheesecloth. My mother remembers my grandmother carefully placing REAL CANDLES which they would light up. I seem to recall seeing this but I was very young at the time. We had a Glockenspiel and a painted and frosted cardboard village my Grandmother placed around the tree!!! I am soon to be 70 years old and my dear Grandparent and Mother and Father and Aunts (Tante) and Uncles are with our Lord and Savior watching from above! Thanks for bringing back fond memories. Oh yes, I remember singing Silent Night in German both at my Grandparents house and at church!! Love all your videos on TH-cam ✡️✝️🙏❤️

I know this may be hard to believe, but I finally decided at the age of 46 to put up my own Christmas tree and I have had such a great time shopping for glass ornaments online, as the kind I like aren’t easily found where I live. Every ornament garners a story over the years. Places you've visited, people who've given you special things and who may have passed on. We had ornaments (which actually came from Germany actually), that my grandmother brought out from Europe in the 1950s. Each one has a story. That makes a tree so special.
You two young people have some of the same traditions as our family. Most young people have a different theme tree every year. My husband and I have decorations we have collected for decades. My husband picks out something that represents something special that happened that year. Those and many other decorations go on to our main tree, that is in our living room next to a fire place. Also, I get a new bird to go on our bird tree, which is a twig that we have drug from house to house . It is in our living room in front of a window that birds from the outside often sit and look inside to see. Then I started collection fruits and vegetables years ago that started with a pickle. This is the first year we needed its own tree, that is now in our dining room. My mom lives with us now so she got her own tree in her room, that has all the cute funny soft animals that hang on it. Thank you so much for sharing your traditional Christmas with all of us.
This is just lovely. It really brings back Christmas. My husband and l would do Christmas with the kids and eventually the grands. Then we'd do some quick decorating for New Year's Eve and our Open House Parties. That all ended when l lost him. It's so nice watching you both enjoying the preparations in your lovely home. I think of how it might have been for us. And l think back many years ago to Germany. Thank you for sharing.

I love decorating my tree and seeing all my treasured ornaments that I’ve acquired over the years. Some I inherited from my grandparents, some were given to me as a gift when I was a child, some have pictures of my beloved pets that have passed away-so many memories! It so reminds me of our family traditions with vintage and antique ornaments from Grandparents and great Grandparents. I passed them onto the next generation to carry on. This is a skansen, an open-air museum, a museum village, a spacious architectural and landscape complex where one can easily get lost for several days. Pyrohiv exhibits all historical and ethnographic regions of Ukraine in realistic conditions.
Each year we add 1 new ornament to our Christmas tree collection. 🎄
I have prepared our mulled wine and mini mince pies ( not home made ) and we are very much looking forward to watching Kirsten and Joerg decorate their tree with all their beautiful Christmas treasures…Bliss ❤
You gather the spirit of Christmas together and remind me of decorating the tree and rooms with my mother for all those years, until I was decorating for her. She used to go out and gather natural things in the woods and garden to make stars to hang on the wall or give away to friends and family. Lovely items and descriptions. I have had my decorations for 30 years , and, like you I have special memories for each one . Most of them come from Germany , I think they are the best there are and really all our Christmas traditions originated in Germany

Love all your decorations and adore the big mushrooms. If I had a home as big as yours I’d be tempted to put up a tree in every room! It’s wonderful seeing all your older decorations making a reappearance, it’s like seeing old friends. Delightful, calming, beautiful video.
I have purchased many German glass ornaments this year, including Lauscha Krebs and Inge-Glas. I know this may be hard to believe, but I finally decided at the age of 46 to put up my own Christmas tree and I have had such a great time shopping for glass ornaments online, as the kind I like aren’t easily found where I live. Every ornament garners a story over the years. Places you've visited, people who've given you special things and who may have passed on. We had ornaments (which actually came from Germany actually), that my grandmother brought out from Europe in the 1950s. Each one has a story. That makes a tree so special.
You two young people have some of the same traditions as our family. Most young people have a different theme tree every year. My husband and I have decorations we have collected for decades. My husband picks out something that represents something special that happened that year. Those and many other decorations go on to our main tree, that is in our living room next to a fire place. Also, I get a new bird to go on our bird tree, which is a twig that we have drug from house to house . It is in our living room in front of a window that birds from the outside often sit and look inside to see. Then I started collection fruits and vegetables years ago that started with a pickle. This is the first year we needed its own tree, that is now in our dining room. My mom lives with us now so she got her own tree in her room, that has all the cute funny soft animals that hang on it. Thank you so much for sharing your traditional Christmas with all of us.

This is just lovely. It really brings back Christmas. My husband and l would do Christmas with the kids and eventually the grands. Then we'd do some quick decorating for New Year's Eve and our Open House Parties. That all ended when l lost him. It's so nice watching you both enjoying the preparations in your lovely home. I think of how it might have been for us. And l think back many years ago to Germany. Thank you for sharing.
My mother had some tin plates that she put out on the 6th for us into adulthood. It had cookies and fruit in it for us.

I don’t change out my tree either. It’s very traditional and every ornament has a sentimental meaning. Your tree is absolutely stunning. It’s classic and traditional and never needs to be changed because it’s filled with delightful memories
Love all of your decorations on the trees and the special memories for each! We have had most of our decorations for about 35 years and some that belonged to my grandmother. I love decorating my tree and seeing all my treasured ornaments that I’ve acquired over the years. Some I inherited from my grandparents, some were given to me as a gift when I was a child, some have pictures of my beloved pets that have passed away-so many memories! It so reminds me of our family traditions with vintage and antique ornaments from Grandparents and great Grandparents. I passed them onto the next generation to carry on. I appreciate your taste for tradition, which I share. I live in a small village in the mountains and every year I use the same decorations. We sing ancient songs and pray in the houses, sharing food and moving with lanterns between the houses of the village. I appreciate the depth and culture of your videos.
I love your decorations and traditions! When I was in Germany I bought numerous Nutcrackers, several smoking men and ornaments and they are some of my most treasured Christmas decorations.
