The enhanced edition *does* look nicer, especially on reflections (Check in the vid) but it does increase performance cost. So much so that I couldn't put ray tracing above medium otherwise the frame drops became too much for me. Still, it's cool to try out!

Ray Tracing struggles with a 2080 ti? I'm probably going to have no chance with the 6700 xt. 😂 The game already looks amazing even before Ray Tracing though.

@@TeepoST88 Don't be so sure. I have a 2070 super and playing at 1440, I am able to place all graphical settings on ultra and ray tracing on high with absolutely NO problems. Even with those settings , I put a frame cap on 70 just because the game doesn't need anything above that and still my 2070 supper handles it with ease. So you should be fine.
I haven't forgotten the game, it's a masterpiece, it's just not one of those games you can play over and over unfortunately, since it follows a linier story you'd know what to do and what to expect for the second and third time through
The lighting seems a lot more dramatic, the shadows seem darker and the.. Light streams? Interact with the characters more, some colors look brighter too, these are the differences I have noticed.

The lighting is way better for enhanced, but one of the whole points of the game is the 3D effects to make the player feel more into the environment. The scale is better in the base game, your able to visualize how you are in space and time. You're seeing more what the character sees and you can compare the vulnerability between that object and the environment. The enhance makes it looks like a typical 2D , side walking PC game and destroys that vibe, in that aspect.

So like, this is gonna sound weird but... I kind of like the base game better? Like, the enhanced version does have slightly better lighting effects (the Hunter's flashlight bouncing light off the edges of the broken floor above was really notable), but the contrast is turned down in other lighted spaces (the TV behind the shower curtain) and makes some of the extreme lights and darks feel more muted. I'm also not sure I liked the blurring of the water effects in the rain showcased here. Like, they both look heckin' gorgeous, so I'm not sure I'd mind either version. But if it's just for slightly better ray tracing, I think the less realistic, more stark contrast of the base game suits the mood better. I love the stylization of the Little Nightmares series, so I'm not sure ultra realism is necessary. As for an upgrade to the Switch version... I mean, I get it, but the graphics on that port are such a downgrade compared to consoles and PC. I think the only solution to that is an upgraded Switch though. Hard to remember it's a 4-year-old handheld now... Time has been weird lately lol. The fact it's a free upgrade and able to be toggled thoug... chef's kiss.

im not sure, did they upgrade the running and walking animations? i have the enhanced edition but I'm not sure if I'm seeing things. when walking, Mono and Six look like they are kind of skipping around in enhanced edition, and when running, they look so much more exhausted than before
If I'm honest, there isn't much difference anyways considering that they nailed the lighting in the base game. Lighting is important for a more atmospheric horror game, so they would have put effort into it anyways. Though we do get nice reflections so all of my reasoning goes out the window.

@@scamarai8907 Forest and Pale city are a lot darker than in the base game there are also particles when you will land on bed or other things and shadows don't have these blurry edges they are more sharp in every level. I'm talking about PC version tho.

Maybe I missed something, but they look almost exactly the same. Aside from a few minor tweaks to the lighting and a performance upgrade, it feels like there's no difference. Maybe that'll change when I play it on a PS5, if I can ever get one, but right now, I don't see it.

I've got a theory of what Six's story really is: -The Tower corrupted much of the globe as thoroughly as it could. But there were few who tried to stay as isolated from the network as possible, trying to build their own versions of order, away from the tower. But due to have been already touched by the corruption, even their forms of order are delusional twisted. One such family is the Nest family. Their deformity was that they lost their souls, fractured into tiny glitched pieces, so they appear mostly normal, were it not for the fact their appearances were grotesque enough to refuse to appear in the photos. Another is the Lady, whose deformity was endless hunger in order to reverse her weakness and physical condition. These three had an arrangement in order to maintain the Maw working and keep themselves isolated from the main land. The patriarch and matriarch had two children, twin girls, more beautiful than them, yet souless as well. However, what made these two children special, was that one girl had the power to externalize her void, making people disappear in thin air. The other girl on the other hand needed to keep eating something that was or is alive, getting more powerful and beautiful with each victim she consumed. The latter is named number 6, as she's supposed to be the new Lady, as the current one seems to be getting more unhinged and sadistic with the guests she invites in order to get more money to maintain her establishment. The former becomes incredibly jealous of her sister, painting herself, to be even more beautiful than Six, ripping her sister's face off from a photo, and then ends their mother, as she planned to have more children. She then took control of the house's insane doll maker and the weary Butler by physically disabling the most threatening parts of their bodies, and ordered them to build that phantasy world of hers filled with dolls made from the children her mother intended to adopt and did everything she could to make it seem like she was an only daughter. Because of these events, Six stopped wearing anything that might have her look like her sister, and started to use her powers to find ways to attract children passing by her home in the hopes one of them could help her take her sister down. However, having grown fond of her latest victim, after her departure from the realm of the living thanks to the Pretender, she takes on her coat both to pay tribute and to hide herself from the world. After these events she goes to the mainland in order to destroy the Tower for being the reason her family was ruined, only to lose her beloved coat and be caught by the Hunter, who wished to let her body give up naturally in order to stuff her as his new daughter. And after the events of this game, in which she and Mono unknowingly find the glitched pieces of her soul, and her betrayal, as her hunger finally began to take hold of her, she was instructed by her shadow/soul (who either couldn't or refused to return to her body) to go to the Maw, where she should have gone to in the first place, in order to feast and become all powerful. And she did just that. However, because of the time distortion, she actually went to a past version of the Maw before the events in the second game. She made her way to the fortress, where she found her father's hanging corpse and what her family had been truly financing. What I do believe, is that time in the Nest and the Maw works differently as well, since it is located far away from the Tower's tentacular reach. So she probably remains there in order to become the new Lady, going mad from her regret in leaving Mono behind, unable to see her reflection not out of vanity, but out of guilt, thus restarting the cycle, and this time try to capture her younger self earlier in order to keep her away from Mono and punish her past self. Only to fail, leading her younger self to go into the Pale city and continue the loop, now returning to a point in which her future self is already the Lady and she must defeat again in order to regain the powers the Tower stole from her. And that is where we know no more. She either decides to stay and continue the cycle. Or she leaves to try and fix her mistakes.
That's one hell of an interesting theory! 😱 It's incredible how Little Nightmares does manage to create such beautiful ideas, concepts and stories in our head and it doesn't even use words at all.
This was not needed or helpful. Half the time I can't tell the difference to save my life. Sometimes good details get obscured in the enhanced (look at the bg wall at 1:00.). The only thing that struck me as obvious better was the TV room at 1:38 the light from the TV hitting the floor has more accurate color and size in the enhanced mode. Problem is the original game with its baked-in lighting was so damn good. RT is more for games with many dynamic light sources, freely moving camera, and more reflective or semi-reflective surfaces.
honestly, I can't tell any difference. the game was already good as it was. I mean surely would've been great if they actually released DLCs, graphics enhancements wasn't that necessary.
I personally prefer the original (base) version, it look way better (the contrast, the lights, the shadows, the colors, the enviroment). Enhanced version looks more opaque, foggy and blurred in some parts, meanwhile the base one looks more defined.
Maybe I'm blind, but I can't really see any difference at all. The base edition looks like it has a lot more effects such as particles and stuff, say at 01:15 and I bet that's the price you pay for all the extra lighting calculations that you're not noticing. When you're playing this game, you're not really going to notice these things and they hardly add any real-world fidelity that you're going to appreciate.
The base game looked amazing, i don't really see if it was necessary to improve it. unless there's an advantage with it in an upcoming DLC if there is one. But change is always good in some cases
@chajen837 Shadows edges aren't that blurry anymore backgrounds got more details you can see this in Forest and City level ,Rain looks more detailed etc.
I got this and run it on a 3070 with max settings.....the game looks quite literally identical to the base to me, it's completely and utterly not worth the upgrade, I assume it has ben done as a test of the technology for the next title. As for the raytracing, it's probably one of the worst implementations i've seen o date, which is REALLY disappointing in a game that is made for it. If they had used raytraced shadows and volumetrics throughout it could have been stunning....but perhaps the next game will be. ;-)
It may look like no difference at a quick glance, but if you look harder you can definitely see the shadows are deeper, the lighting is improved, colours more vibrant, reflections are a lot better and there are particles added to the atmosphere. They are minuscule changes but, in my opinion, they add alot to the feel of the game

You can really tell in any scene with reflections but overall it’s not a huge difference tbh, biggest difference is probably 60fps 4k on consoles

Yes it did changed for some reason, try to rewatch the scene where they going to kill Hunter on the shed, Six running animation has changed.

No, I can definitely see a difference in 1080p although I’m sure 4K does look better!
you might have been better served capturing this in 4k so the bitrate on YT is high enough

The base game looks better to be honest. The lighting is more realistic yet more atmospheric, and is also much easier to make out details.
This was not needed or helpful. Half the time I can't tell the difference to save my life. Sometimes good details get obscured in the enhanced (look at the bg wall at 1:00.). The only thing that struck me as obvious better was the TV room at 1:38 the light from the TV hitting the floor has more accurate color and size in the enhanced mode.
Problem is the original game with its baked-in lighting was so damn good. RT is more for games with many dynamic light sources, freely moving camera, and more reflective or semi-reflective surfaces.
The music creeps me out ;-;
honestly, I can't tell any difference. the game was already good as it was. I mean surely would've been great if they actually released DLCs, graphics enhancements wasn't that necessary.
I personally prefer the original (base) version, it look way better (the contrast, the lights, the shadows, the colors, the enviroment). Enhanced version looks more opaque, foggy and blurred in some parts, meanwhile the base one looks more defined.

When I realize it’s for Xbox PlayStation and pc: 💀

I have a ps5 and beat the game last month. I’m not seeing why I should re-download and play the enhanced edition at all.
I barely noticed any difference on my ps5. I was quite disappointed. Now the patches for horizon and ghost you notice the difference immediately.

It's mainly the shadows that look better on enhanced version.
Maybe I'm blind, but I can't really see any difference at all. The base edition looks like it has a lot more effects such as particles and stuff, say at 01:15 and I bet that's the price you pay for all the extra lighting calculations that you're not noticing. When you're playing this game, you're not really going to notice these things and they hardly add any real-world fidelity that you're going to appreciate.

The base game looked amazing, i don't really see if it was necessary to improve it. unless there's an advantage with it in an upcoming DLC if there is one. But change is always good in some cases

@chajen837 Shadows edges aren't that blurry anymore backgrounds got more details you can see this in Forest and City level ,Rain looks more detailed etc.

I love the story of the game
I got this and run it on a 3070 with max settings.....the game looks quite literally identical to the base to me, it's completely and utterly not worth the upgrade, I assume it has ben done as a test of the technology for the next title. As for the raytracing, it's probably one of the worst implementations i've seen o date, which is REALLY disappointing in a game that is made for it. If they had used raytraced shadows and volumetrics throughout it could have been stunning....but perhaps the next game will be. ;-)
And it was also by nice to accommodate larger monitors - running it in 3440 x 1440 results in horrible black bars down the sides of the screen.

It may look like no difference at a quick glance, but if you look harder you can definitely see the shadows are deeper, the lighting is improved, colours more vibrant, reflections are a lot better and there are particles added to the atmosphere. They are minuscule changes but, in my opinion, they add alot to the feel of the game
