Better to leave more gap on sides to stick. And also depends on the wind, due to i have uncountable cases when my stencils were ripped off in seconds

Yeah i agree. I sometimes add small strips at the edges for the tapes to stick to.

Making and cutting the guide is mainly the 3rd officer's job. When applying, it may be for everyone. So that includes the OS.
