It's funny, this skill is so difficult, but in such a way that is against all the trends that the FIG cultivated in the COP over the last 10 years. The code so rewards dynamic swing and perfect handstands that skills that rely heavily on strength, where the perfect vertical is not guaranteed, and bent arms are possible, are not worth pursuing. Not only not worth trying, but the development of current valuable routines doesn't necessarily include the basics for it.
I agree with you comment totally. There some forgiveness for skills that don't require a handstand finish, it will result in more variety and creativity.
This skill was perfect for the 2006-2008 code however. Less deductions then and it could get .2 connection bonus without the turn. McNamara + Ray should have become a much used combo at the time. The 2001-2005 code also was good for McNamara + Ricna.
They need to encourage this skill. I've imagined it without the handstand and turn. Instead, it would be directly to a mixed grip Hindorf, swing to a forward straddle, half turn.
This skill takes some crazy strength and timing!
I love this mount! I wish that some of todays gymnasts would do the McNamara Mount in their bar routines!

You always have such thoughtful insight. Thanks for being here.

With time she was short on the handstand especially when she added the turn to it
