Still driving my 94 Buick Park Avenue I bought when new. The 3.8 engine is bullet proof.
Still looks great, get many comments and I can work on it when need be. Parts are plentiful

A bigger issue is that the government is dictating features to manufactures. Expensive features that customers not only don't care about BUT ACTIVELY DON'T WANT. It's not so bad in the USA yet, but it's a huge deal in the EU. Porsche killed the Boxter/Cayman twins after 2025 due to EU regulations -- but NOT emissions regulations. They killed them because cars now need a bunch of active technology to stop people from hacking your car and taking it over!
Step1: legislate crazy emissions standards that can't be met
Step2: brands respond by going to all drive by wire (all electric steering, etc., to reduce parasitic drag which increases MPG)
Step3: legislate crazy "safety features" like your car "seeing the road" and taking over steering
Step4: notice that your completely electronic car now be hacked and operated like a full size remote control car
Step5: legislate expensive and complex active anti-hacking features
Step6: now cars cost 30% more than they should, offer a worse driving experience, and are more expensive and complex maintain.
Step7: everyone complains that cars are "too expensive"
      GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM here!

As somebody who has a full-size truck with manual window cranks, I very much would appreciate power windows. Even at 6' tall, it's a looong stretch from the driver's seat to roll up/down the passenger window. I have to unbuckle my seatbelt to get over there. A modern mid-size may not be a problem, and I know that the Ranger and Toyota of days past it was NOT a problem.
As for the rest of your "simple spec", I mucho agree. I had some guy bleating that Mazda didn't spec a heated steering wheel and 360 view on the top trim of the new CX-50 Hybrid here in the US, but Canada got those, and I'm like "really? Really? REALLY? That's a deal breaker for you?"

The car makers designs are so similar I have real trouble telling them apart. Make a modernized 1976/77 Olds Cutlass and I'd be interested. My beef with Japanese cars is they put kindergarten sized seats in their vehicles. We used to buy Honda after Honda for my wife. While they were really reliable vehicles I hated the little seats. I'd constantly complain to our awesome sales guy to use his decades of Honda recognition to encourage adult seats, but Honda didn't. So we cut the Honda cord about 20 years ago.
My new 1999 Siverado z71 papered for 33 to 35k but real price was 26-27k, and I thought GM was pushing the limits back then. I picked up a creampuff 03 F150 six years ago and plan to extend its useable life as long as possible (98xxx miles). Sure fixing up rust spots and some parts will cost $$ but I'll have FAR MORE VALUE than buying a brand new one.

By the way, turbo isn't a part of an engine but rather an external attachment to help boost and compress more air to the engine.

It isn’t just the prices of the cars that is ridiculous, it’s the interest rates for loans and the insurance. Here in Florida insurance of all types is a major issue. I have no tickets or accidents and I’m middle aged. Full coverage insurance on a basic car like a Corolla is close to 600.00 a month which is double the car payment. That’s the lowest price I found, some companies wanted over 700.00 per month.

When I was younger cars and trucks would last a minimum 100,000 miles and you would start looking for a new one. With a bit of money 120,000 miles not unheard of. The biggest problem was rust. They were 8 cylinder, 400 hp. A truck could move a house. How long is a tiny 4 - 6 cylinder turbo going to last. Tech heavy, tiny engines are ticking time bombs and the prices are goofy as hell. In some cases the info they collect and sell is higher than their vehicle sales. Insurance is a shit show because they know how fast you drive, when you drive, were you drive, who is driving, where you go, your hobbies and interests etc... and all this info is used to screw you. Car and truck companies are not your friends it's exactly the opposite.

Prices of the average car transaction is hovering around $50k. On top of interest rates still being high, most people have been squeezed due to the cost of basic necessities leaving them with no extra discretionary income for a car. It's becoming a nice to have, but not a need to have is what I'm starting to believe. An older car with good maintenance will be enough.

I have driven a vehicle I bought new from 2002. I just sold it after 23 years and bought a new 2025 reimagined Nissan Kicks, SR Trim, Artic Ice Metallic, with All Wheel Drive. This is an enormous improvement over the old Kicks and it really blew me away. Nissan paid attention to the many customer criticisms of the 2024 version when reimagining this upgraded Kicks. I ordered it in August and it just arrived in time for Christmas. This is the first time I have ever had all of these gizmos in a vehicle, which was a bit intimidating to this 55 year old. My vehicle is fresh off the assembly line and when all was said and done, around $45K total. I did a $25K down payment.
I considered a Chevrolet Trax, but there were transmission issues I was reading about in customer reviews. The 2025 Kicks advance preview came out about that time, and the early comparisons and reviews impressed me. I don't travel much anymore, just around my mid-size town and/or about 5 miles to work. I plan on keeping the car for a long time, God willing.
I prayed very much to make the right choice and for having a new car to be God's will first. I did not want a new vehicle at all if it was not God's will for me. Everything began to fall into place easily so I know this was the right choice for me. I trust God to lead me to make good decisions. I was to a point where my old vehicle always made me feel like I couldn't trust any potential out of town trip that might arise. I began looking back in late 2022, but nothibg felt right about getting a new vehicle at that time, so I abandoned the plan. Making a decision like this is a really big deal and I have prayed for the car to last me for the rest of my driving days. I feel good about my choice because God helped everything to fall into place, not to satisfy my desire to have something cool, but simply to provide me with dependability in a society where owning a vehicle is a need, not a want.

Was a Toyota loyalist for 30 years but my 20 Camry AWD developed a fault they couldn't identity and I was hearing Toyota was having some issues so I didn't buy another one. To be honest, the build quality wasn't great. The Forester seems solid and well constructed. Got good reviews. So far I really like it. I have a decent question to the question "could it be quality controll"- Why do we call it "quality controll" like it's just some wierdly consistent accident the materials and designs are as cheap as possible and not treat it like they made conscious choices to use crap to build crap because they believe they can treat us like some animal they can feed any lousy slop to keep happy.
Fairly confident the quality is completely under controll, and they just see buyers as too picky.

Are the crankshafts for the Toyota and Honda parted out to other machine shops that didn't have the ability to manufacturer them correctly?

I’m still driving my 2009 G37. Looks brand new with 170k. I went to a car show this week and nothing inspired me. I hate SUVs.

I was looking at buying a used car went to the bank I have excellent credit rating and they said 11% I would be paying 11the interest on that why would anybody buy a used car if you're paying that kind of percentage😢😂😂

I think they didn't take into account most car sales aren't out of necessity....lots of room for consumer push back....

Also three years ago I had a paid off Hyundai, and a GORGEOUS Jetta GLI with a tiny car payment. My Jetta was destroyed in an accident I didn’t cause, but ended up blamed for. A deer took out my Hyundai two weeks later. Never believe because you have something nice and paid off 👉🏻 that you’ll get to keep it. Now I’m driving a 2021 VW Tiguan (believe it or not, the Jetta saved my life - which is why I got another VW), which was the most expensive car I’ve ever bought. I have a bigger no interest payment. I’ve got a 150K warranty, but with all the electronic stuff . . . will it last? I really wonder if once it’s paid off, things will go south. And what will be left to drive then, that isn’t tiny and low 👉🏻 or big and obnoxiously expensive? And total JUNK?
I sure miss my Jetta 😭😭😭😭!

Electric cars cost a fraction since they don’t have a gear box or a refrigeration system but prices are very high! Traditional brands like Toyota or Honda are dropping quality so people are not confident on getting a new car.

Still driving my 05 Escalade with close to 300K miles on it. The ride is still smooth as butter. Gonna keep it just to see how far it’ll go before it goes no more 😊. Still hoping you will find something good to say about the Audi A7. That’s what I got my eye on. Btw…I didn’t know Fischer Price made car interiors 🤔😂🫡👍🏾 !

Haha thanks Mike, the 7 series for Audi is not bad if you go with the V6 and the rest of the car is not bad.

@@ECPPglorified Volkswagen with so much plastic under the hood that cracks/leaks and audi costs a small fortune to fix. Wouldnt touch any euro vehicle. Over engineered, major components made of plastic. Euro’s are good during warranty then throw away cause they cost $$$$. Total waste unless you’re wealthy.

Go back to late 90's, early 2000's tech. No need to build rolling cellphones. I just bought an experienced 99 camry. Best bang for the buck, good mileage. Replaced 4 corner strut assemblies, sway bar links, new tires, a fraction of cost of new junk. Muwahaha. Pay, you fools! I bought tools. Not a poodle for sure. Muwahaha!

Why are stealerships filling the lots when they aren't selling them??🤔

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Because the OEMs are pushing them out and pressuring the dealers to take the new inventory and then actually selling them becomes more of the dealer issue at that point

@ECPP it still doesn't make sense though for the OEMs to make them take vehicles they can't sell

    • @Maincharacter95
      @Maincharacter95 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Why would the oem stop pushing out vehicles and lose profit. dealerships are too greedy to sell for msrp. Oems want to sell the vehicle directly to you but federal law requires it to be through a stealership. So it makes no sense for an oem to stop pushing out new vehicles.
