Getting those 35” tires on your Yukon or Tahoe

  • When it comes to fitting those larger tires in the fenders of your Yukon or Tahoe it can be challenging unless you just want to cut the fenders out and look like crap. We feel like when doing something we want it to look factory or nicer then factory. So we spent some time to get this to work out just right!

    Looks badass!! I have an SLT no air ride really want to fit 35s you mentioned this Yukon has “your 2in kit” where can I find that? I have 2” lift on the front lower an arm will this clear 35x12.5r17 with your fender pull back kit? What size offset on the rims are these????Thank you

    Do you know, what is the stock tire size for the Yukon AT4, in 35 terms, and if those 35's were so problematic, what do you think the largest tire size one could put onto a Yukon AT4 that would not be so difficult as this, that would be doable? That size you referenced I'm not sure what this is in 35 terms. And is there a reasonable way to raise it up, and have the magnetic ride control and adjustable air ride still work perfectly just at a higher height? Thanks. I'd really like to get the minimum road clearance raised up, as much as possible, but even just +1" more would be nice.

    Beautiful job. I have a question for you. I understand that on the Yukons (AT4 and Denali), the normal base height road clearance is 8", and with the adjustable air ride suspension, it will raise up to 9" in 4H and 10" in 4L. My question is, when you lift this AT4, I think you said 2"s, does that mean that the new base height of the road clearance is 10", and with the adjustable air suspension you can then raise it to 11" in 4H and 12" in 4L? Oh, and will the magneride and everything else still work normally as well? Thanks.

      I take measurements from the lowest point which is off the lower rear control arms. So you only gain what the tire gains.

    • @Nate-zy5ce
      @Nate-zy5ce ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@westcottdesigns That makes sense, and frankly it's a more honest way to take that road clearance measurement. I've actually wondered about that. I wish those who designed the vehicle could have put that independent rear suspension in so that those control arms went up instead of down so they didn't drop down so low. At least they're further off to the side and not dead center. In any case, I assume the lift does raise the center beneath the vehicle by that amount, just not the lowest point of the control arms, or at least not by much. A question. For those larger tires, how much do you think they raised that low point of the control arms versus with the stock tires, 1/4", 1/2", 1", more, any idea? Whatever the case, you really did a bang up job, it's such a beautiful vehicle after the work you did, and I suspect even more capable! Man, I love the look of it! Put some black cross bars on the roof, and I'd be off to the races.

      @@Nate-zy5ce the lower rear are a bad design. For sure could do arms that have way more ground clearance and more strength could be added into them. The stock tires are 31” and the new tires are 35” so you pick 2” of ground clearance

    • @Nate-zy5ce
      @Nate-zy5ce ปีที่แล้ว

      @@westcottdesigns Thanks for replying again. Glad to know I'm not crazy thinking those control arms could have been done better. As for the tires, an extra 2" of ground clearance because of the larger tires, that's great, I'd welcome that for sure. I think I just saw a video where you've decided to no longer offer this specific custom package due to its complications and time involved. I wonder, could you do something like this, but with slightly smaller tires, maybe 33"rs, or 34"rs maybe, still nicely larger than stock, but not as big as these, and still a bit of offset poke, and would that be less complicated and time consuming, maybe less or no trimming even, and would that still be worth it performance wise? I'd welcome even just 1" more road clearance as I believe would occur with 33"rs, as long as the adjustable air ride suspension and such sill worked fine. I for some reason thought those were 37's on this vehicle, but since already 35's, maybe dropping to 33"s, so much closer to 31"s, then makes it not worth the effort?
      I really wanted a full size suv, and have been set on these Yukons, Denali or more likely AT4, but the less road clearance beneath those control arms has held me back. Actually, playing Mr. Potato Head, I'd really love an AT4 but with all the Cadillac features and luxury, and a better control arm design of course, just call me a dreamer. I've actually been considering just moving to a pick up instead, one of the F150's, maybe Platinum or Tremor, and customizing it a tad, I really like that optional fold out flat front center console work surface, but trade offs going the pick up route too since I lose the interior space of the suv, but am considering it, maybe a slightly raptorized all black F150 Platinum. The Tremor would need less customization, but then I lose the interior luxury and massaging seats of the loaded Platinum, and these old bones would like that for the long road trips. The Platinum also offers slightly better mpg, how much depending on which engine selected. Do you guys do work like that, on F150's? I'm getting long in the tooth here, so if you want to cut this off no problem, thanks for taking the time. And again, impressive custom work.
