- There are many beautiful glitches in Super Mario Maker, but very few are as crazy as Psycrows incredible invisible pipes glitch. This glitch not only allows it to have enemies spawn out of thin air in Super Mario Maker, but it also allows to put items into pipes, clown cars or clouds that usually shouldn’t be put into these items. In this video we are going to take a closer look at one of video gaming craziest glitches, and at a lot of different things possible because of it in Super Mario Maker.

Nintendo policy on glitches is the stupidest thing. They devote extreme amount of resources to removing glitches that are clearly inherent quality of the engine, and can't be permanently patched without rewriting the game from scratch.
I think what they should be doing instead is letting people flag their levels as 'Glitch levels". Glitch levels would never be used in 100 Mario challenge, and would NOT be removed. However, if you use glitches but don't voluntarily flag your levels, THEN you'd risk their removal.
This way, people could choose if they risk to play glitch levels or not. It'd save everyone trouble.

This would work very well for some kind of "don't press down" gimmick, like make it where the player really wants to duck but if they do they go into an invisible pipe in the ground, so they have to find other creative ways to get around obstacles. Just a thought.
I've used this glitch before, and unfortunately it doesn't work that way. It's more of items that think they are in pipes and spawn in midair.

when doing the pipes, you can mess around with moving the pipes and pressing undo and it will sometimes create an invisible pipe with the enemy in the pipe and the item that the glitch was made for
I know nothing about the source code of Mario Maker, but if I had to guess at the general category of causes for the black hole / invisible pipe glitch, here's what I'd guess: the Undo function uses two stacks, one stack for tracking the items that were last changed, and one for tracking the previous state of those items. When you press Undo, the item is popped off the item stack and the state is popped off the state stack, and then that state is applied to that item. Something about the Black Hole setup causes those two stacks to become desynchronized: either something is popped off the item stack without popping off the state, a state is popped without popping an item, or both. Either way, at some point, the glitched item is in the item stack aligned with the previous state of a completely different item. When you press Undo, it now pops off your glitched item and the state for a different item and applies that state to the glitch. So in the pipe example, the pipe knows its contents are the goomba and the goomba knows it's inside the pipe. When you move the goomba away, the "in the pipe" state is pushed onto the previous state stack, but the glitched fireball is still at the top of the item stack. So now you press Undo, and the "in the pipe" state is applied to the fireball, then the pipe's "contents" state is applied to something else entirely because the stacks are still desynced. When you delete the pipe, it removes itself from its content's "inside" tracker, but its contents are not the fireball, so the pipe is deleted with the fireball still thinking it's inside the pipe, and acting like it.
Again, I have *no idea* what the code looks like, that's just my guess at what might kind of be happening here. As for how the setup with the giant thwomps and the little thwomps cause the desync: no idea.

The gomba conveyor belt reminds me of a clip in each credits part of the Jetsons where George is walking Astro on a conveyor belt, but then Astro starts running and they start going underneath it and the coming back up on the other side over and over again

Finally, the old intro is back. Or kinda. I still love it
I still have a level uploaded using the old invisible pipe method and it's pretty fun. I don't think nintendo will delete it because the main reason they don't like glitch levels is if they patch the glitch the level may become impossible. Mine can be cleared without the items from invisible pipes (but it's pretty empty and boring). I made an extra save of it just in case!
Love your vids Ceave, I’m going to start working on a Mario game and put some cool techniques into the game , including some of your cool tricks. It might take me like a year or so, but when I’m done with my game can you play it and record it? Please answer in the comments

Nintendo should create a glitch category for levels. That way people can show off really cool things and those who don’t want to don’t have to run into glitchy levels.

I tried to do the glitch but after doing the black hole I accidentally put the track wrong, I wanted to drag the Thwomps but I accidentally deleted them along with the tracks, I tapped undo and my console freezes. Awesome!

Remember when I made one level that took me over 6 hours to finish and upload. Pretty much had to memorise the entire level just to upload it. That was good times.

Ceave's journey through Mario Maker has become like the technological progression of man.
First some simple levels, then the machines, then the technical wizardry, then restricting his powers by creating a championship which still goes to show yet more wizardry. Not satisfied, he plunges into the weird, pseudo-sciences of glitches, creating black holes until ultimately destroying the game.

Y'know what we need in SMM2? Bill blasters that won't fire anything if there's nothing put in them, and bullet bills that are a separate object from bill blasters. Then we could A: have non-shooting blasters B: have bullet bills that we can modify. That means we'd have the ability to *shake* bullet bills and turn them into *homing bullets,* and put *mushrooms* on them to make them *Banzai Bills.* We could even make *Homing Banzai Bills* yeah that's a thing.

When preforming this glitch on the 3DS you have to change the game theme and back instead of pressing play then edit

How the hell did Psycrow discover these glitches? He had to have sit there with his gamepad, and decide to just toy around with random shit and he made magic happen miraculously, cuz this is the most convoluted and out there glitch I've honestly ever seen.
Inb4 he let some young child in his family play around on Mario Maker and they somehow did this by accident
