i always enjpy hearing snippets of Lore regarding other Dragonlord Families. Jaehaelors story seems rather sad, I wonder why he never was able to ride his dragon after arriving at Volantis? Its also cool to see how many variations of Valyrian names seem to exist, Jaehaerys, Jaehaelor, Aemon, Aemond, etc.
One question I have is: why did Jaehaelor’s regard for slaves change? At one point, he’s slitting a slave’s throat for eating a plant in Valyria, but later he’s dying protecting a slave in Volantis?
i think the best example of what would valyria look like before the doom is Melniboné from the Elric saga. the diference is Valyria was probably filled with normal and non cruel people, but the endless ornated towers, dragons, and the slaver elite who self induge in sorcery is all there
Everyone reading Shrubbery is focused on the white tree of flames and while interesting, I think the Silk Grass is too often overlooked. I always thought that the Valyrian had something other than blood magic to bind dragons, orherwise Asshaï would be the home of dragonriders. What if it's as simple as having "dragon catnip" ? An herb that when consumed makes dragons addicted and they used it mixed with sheep to create a diet for domestic dragons.

Oh god. GRRM has taken Tolkein's elves and written in details of noble privilege and classist violence. Growing tall. Bread that nourishes for very long -- again there was that in LOTR. RELATION OF the CotF!! And someone who would protect slaves from violence would himself kill a non dragonrider for eating the forbidden silk grass -- BLOOD of the dragon must remain PURE...
