The Fall of the Great Empire of the Dawn | Game of Thrones Lore
มุมมอง 59K2 ปีที่แล้ว
There are many theories about the Great Empire of the Dawn (GEotD). They all mostly say the same thing: they were ancient dragonlords who once harnessed dragons before the Valyrians, leaving numerous structures across the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. They built the fused black stones like the Five Forts but also the oily/greasy black stones like Asshai. They were the predecessors of the Yi ...

It is a story that spans across both continents of Westeros and Essos, unraveling the mysteries of Asshai and the other ...

    I disagree with the majority of what LML thinks. He's super dedicated to the idea of Dany being a hero who will save humanity, and just dismisses any evidence that clearly points to dragon-riders being a force for destruction. I can't get through most of his videos because he's so smug about things he's very wrong about.

    It would be so cool to sea the children of the forest and the first men go to war. See how their tactics change, maybe the children tried gaining an advantage by breeding sea people and the response from men was to create giants among themselves to counter it, or maybe vice versa. The children turning to more desperate and nefarious means to win the War: wiping out peninsulas (or tried to twice) to cut them off directly, breeding monsters to attempt to win (with varying degrees of success), and finally as a last desperate act they create or recreate the white walkers to wipe them out (and possibly take the children with them like a self detonating nuke). Probably end up showing the children as the oppressed and the first men being monsters but making it more complicated would be interesting. Perhaps the first men did everything they could to live in peace but violent children of the forest attacked for any number of reasons or vice versa eventually leading to a war that consumed the continent. 19:35 perhaps the dragons or the first age was created when the Children sang a Song of Fire, unable to do so after singing the Song of Ice due to lack of numbers or some other reason

    If the Valyrian Empire was GRRM’s version of the Roman Empire, then I think the Great Empire of the Dawn was the Achaemenid/Alexander’s Empire. Obviously not to the degree that Yi Ti was east of them like India/China but perhaps a part of it or perhaps they were very influential on all the cultures they conquered or encountered.

    So basically humans attack the Children and the Children respond by creating monsters to fight for them and/or seal themselves off from humans by manipulating the lands like shattering the Arm of Dorne and The Wall. Is the Lands of Ice and Fire hinting that this happened all over the world like The Thousand Islands? All the diseases and monsters in Sothoryos? Did they destroy Asshai by creating Ghost Grass and the demons residing in the mountains there? The Dothraki fear almost nothing except Ghost Grass, the Children living in the northern woods of Essos and water which has a connection with the Children. The Maesters generally believe the Andals fled the Valyrian expansion but was there any presence of Valyrians in The Axe or south of the Silver Sea at all? Reading of the Andal Invasion gives more of a feeling that they were on a crusade against the Children.

    Its a really convincing theory but theres a big question you're not answering. Why now? If the Andals broke The Pact a long time ago, why are the Others just now coming back?

  • @user-ep8ns6hg4q
    @user-ep8ns6hg4q หลายเดือนก่อน

    It was all about taking back the seven kingdoms from the andals, leaving only the children and first men, which is exactly how the show ended, with the blood of the first men ruling all. It's just a game of risk between two gods. The andals serve the gods of the east and the first men serve the gods of the west, whoever controls the entire planet first wins.

    If your Song of Ice and Fire interpretation is used, it fits quite well with a "tragic hero" ending for Dany where she forsakes the pursuit of the throne for the bigger threat in North, intending to return to claim it, but dying on the field of battle against the others, just as the Children intended. If that's the case it raises some interesting "Stallion Who Mounts the World" issues... either Rhaego is dead and Dany in essence "usurped" the role that the Children had intended for him (which comes with the collateral benefit of a "Breaker of Chains", something that is mutually exclusive with being a "Stallion who Mounts the World"), or he is alive, and Jorah lied to Dany all along, and he still has a role to play. Or, and this is my favorite, the Children themselves killed Rhaego via Mirri because they realized he too would be an overpowered superweapon, perhaps powerful enough to beat the Others and go on to mount the world anyhow.

    Without disproving Patchface potential plague resurgence, here is another theory which I think is more in line with Daenerys. In ADWD, Quaithe visits Daenerys at Mereen through a dragonglass candle and gives here the following warning : "Quaithe: The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal." Note that there is no Capital O to Others, which makes me think it's not necessarily the Others at the wall but rather... the following warnings in the list. Soon comes the pale mare (the plague), and after here the [...] Kraken (VIctarion Greyjoy), Dark Flame (BlackFyre either as Varys hypothetical ascend or the Golden Company members which have a history closely tied to the BlackFyre rebellion), Lion (Tyrion Lannister), Griffin (Griff / Young Griff who travel with him), the Sun's son (Quentyn Martell) and the Mummer's dragon (fake Aegon VI). The perfumed Senechal could be either Loraq, or Varys (always described as perfurmed in ASOIAF) or much more likely Selaesori Qhoran, the "Fragrant Steward" merchant cog which carries Tyrion and Jorah as well as the red priest Moqorro and is shipwrecked. Besides, the remaning prophecy all speaks about people on the way to Mereen... including Jorah Mormont, which is enrolled with Tyrion in a mummer's show... might there be a dragon in here ?

    Jon and Daenerys definitely aren't the last valyrians. There are valyrian houses in Westeros still. And there are plenty of valyrians all over Essos. Tyrion and Jorah even find a valyrian prostitute. Maybe you meant dragonriders not valyrians, but even that is wrong, because as we see in the sowing of the seeds, there are people with no clear valyrian aspect that can still tame and ride dragons.

    The children didn't create "the others" but they did create the White Walkers. I think the children are actually the villians of the story and are determined to wipe out humans in an attempt to save themselves. The fact that all the remaining children are stuck North of the wall may signify a pact between the Others and The Starks. I'd also guess that the Others and the Starks are bound by blood, magic, and oath. I'd also bet that the tale of Azora Hai was greatly exaggerated and the real reason for the end of the "long night" has something to do with a pact made between the others and the Starks. When you take into consideration that nothing magical can cross the wall, which is WHY the children can't cross it and the fact things become a bit clearer. The children are prisoners of the others in an attempt to contain their evil. The Starks of Winterfell are a last line of defense to contain the Children and so long as thier is always a living "Stark in Winterfell" the magic of the pact is held together. Once Winterfell was empty of Starks is when the pact started to fall apart and the magic started failing which is why Danerys Dragons were able to cross.

    The cherry-picking of evidence in this video is grating to me. Using the fact Asshai and Yeen repel life to say “maybe they were safe havens against ghost grass” while ignoring the fact that animals and children also perish quickly in these regions, and entire settlements go missing in Yeen literally overnight. No mention of either of those when he wants to paint those cities as safe havens. And then taking old George quotes from 2000 to support his argument while ignoring the numerous George quotes stating the fish people in the world of Ice and Fire ARE just references to Lovecraft made to fill out the world. Incredibly misleading video in my opinion.

    I mean with this theory which makes quite a lot of sense, it also leaves the possibility that since dragons have originated from two areas. One being the shadow and since the shadowlands are so large and so dark it’s possible that dragons still exist there even after the dance of dragons. I mean after all we never found out where Grey ghost, Sheepstealer, and Cannibal came from. Because if they originated from Westeros there would be more than the 3 of them. Also coincidentally all of their colors are either darker shades or white/gray in Grey Ghosts case, this would make sense if they originated from the Shadowlands as animals tend to use the colors around them to camouflage with their surroundings. So a darker color like black and brown, or a grey/white tends to take in the colors around it and is also very present in environments that tend to lack a lot of sunlight.

    I believe there must have been multiple world ending conflicts between races of Planetos 1. The Old Ones vs God Emperors of The Great Empire Of Dawn: I believe this was the first war where beings from outer world came to Planetos and fought for the survival and ownership of Planetos... The Old Ones lost and they were banished from the known world where they still sleep in a deep dreamless slumber...Moat Kailin, Yeen, Aashai were probably built by The Squishers but later they got included in the GEOTD. Five Forts were built in this Era if it is to be believed to fend off monsters beyond Grey Waste... 2. Blood Betrayal: The Usurpation and the blood sacrifice of The Amethyst Empress by her younger brother The BloodStone Emperor which is said to be the reason for the collapse and end of GEOTD by The Demons Of The Lion Of Night. It is also believed that at that time Planetos had 2 moons Fire & Ice and the Blood Betrayal broke the Fire moon and thousands of pieces of the Fire Moon came down to Planetos as Fire Breathing Dragons...The Long Night started with blood betrayal as well as it ended with another Blood Sacrifice to bring the new Dawn. The Great Other was captured in the Weirwood in The Heart Of Winter as well as The Wall was Built to fend off future threats of the White Walkers. 3. Westoros vs First Men:Garth Greenhand is the first to come to Westeros and breed with every species to create new species and lived in harmony however when Humans came, every species living in Westeros fought the invasion of men be it children of the forest or giants or green men but they all failed and in desperation they made a huge blood sacrifice to bring down meteors from the sky and destroy the path First Men took ...The Hammer that Broke Dorne but it had no effect since The First Men built ships and keep invading Westeros from every side. THE PACT was made among COTF, Giants, Green Men & First Men/Humans 4. First Men (Bronze Warriors) vs Andals (Iron Folks): Andals defeated the First Men with their advancement in military might however they could not easily overpower the magical beings that still roam Westeros. 13th Lord Commander of The Night's Watch is supposed to live in this period. Andals cut down trees as well as slaughter every magical species as well as burn down Weirwoods that's sacred to the Old Gods. The Book as well as The Show depicted one scene verified by GRRM where COTF creats a new White Walker by blood sacrifice to defend themselves from the Andals. If the tale of Night's King & Corps Queen is true then there was a Decade Long Darkness that happened which can be a mini Long Night as per your theory.

    I think there’s an aspect to the Great Empire of Dawn story that has to do with the Bloodstone Emperor killing the Amethyst Empress and bringing the Long Night, and that being a parallel myth of Azor Ahai killing Nissa Nissa. I doubt that the choice of an Amethyst Empress (and the other gemstone references in the dream in GOT) and descriptions of Dany’s eyes as amethyst is not just a matter of sounding cool. Clearly there was some cataclysm in past, before the Doom of Valyria. That cataclysm was probably the Long Night.
