    hi, I published some new videos on this outboard, I fitted it with an oversized 5 hp carburettor, bringing it to 6 hp and on the 3.5 bringing it to 4.5/5 hp including aluminum propeller
    I have to say that the power has really increased
    The idle screw is not that one, but it is on the other side, it has a spring and is placed at the top, where the guillotine opening is
    The one you unscrewed and cleaned is the one from the air/fuel mixture that enters when the accelerator is closed

      Awesome channel!! Congrats on 10k subs. Really great points in your comment. I was curious about the carb upgrade. Glad it actually works and adds power

      @@Skinnyriver thank you, I'm really happy with the results obtained and I'll be doing a sea trial of the 5 hp soon the modified 3.5 hp took me for a ride all last summer 🤩 low consumption and really powerful, you won't regret the 6 hp Suzuki I had before or the 4 hp 2-stroke

      Enjoy your vids!!!
      Brass cap/plug setting is the air and fuel mixture. Idle setting is the silver screw with spring. The brass jet you took off is the slow jet.

      @l73global got it, yeah that makes sense, thanks!! I mistakenly call the air mixture screw the speed screw. Thanks again!!

    Thank you for your videos, I've learned so much about this motor from you. Definitely good to have these sorts of tips in our back pockets if we ever come across the same issue. ps. I did my first winterization last year following your tips, and my 6hp tohatsu almost started on the first pull this spring (roared to life on the 2nd, and was super happy)!

      Awesome! I appreciate the views. I’m no expert, I’m still learning too. thanks again

      @@Skinnyriveras they say, don't let perfection get in the way of producing a good you tube help video! We only need the actual name of a part if ordering it from Amazon lol

    That piece you took out is call a jet, it allows a certain amount of fuel into the carb. On a car you can replace these with different sizes to get more fuel. The piece behind the cap is the air fuel mixture. You use this to adjust how much air gets to the car. Generally you adjust this to the highest rpm you can get at idle. More fuel more air more power but you can take it to far and flood the engine

    Does this motor require the bucket of water? Oil cooled engine... Or does it have a water impeller like most others that has to be protected? I just don't see on the bottom of the unit where the water intake is located...thought it didn't need to be in water to start and adjust things. I could be wrong, easily. Tks

    • @Skinnyriver
      @Skinnyriver  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it’s water cooled, need a bucket

    • @dustinj7650
      @dustinj7650 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      there is a water intake on the underside of the anti-ventilation plate (above the prop). So it is water cooled, and you can see in the video water spitting out of the engine.

      Thanks for explaining, I wrote my response in a hurry 😅

      lol - you are the man! I don't mind doing the occassional dirty work. Actually used it as an opportunity to learn where the water intake is located. Thanks again for all your vids, they are super helpful and give me the confidence to get out on the water safely!@@Skinnyriver

      @dustinj7650 yeah when I bought it the dude gave me a set of those ears/muffs to hook up to the hose. I looked down at the motor and said there is no water intake on the sides. He had no idea the intake was under the cavi plate and not on the sides. I’m surprised he didn’t burn it up lol
