Dr. Samantha. I am eight months postop and I have returned to full range of motion with your encouragement and a local professional physical therapist. I’m able to hold myself in a catchers pose and lift myself back out of it on my own. I appreciate your passion and all your tips. Grateful for your FT group. THANKS‼️

I started PT 2 days after surgery. Mild in home PT. After 2 weeks went for PT at a facility. My surgery got pushed up so when I signed up for PT they were booked. So I ended up with a different PT each time. They were all good in their own way but my therapy was lacking continuity. Now I am with a PT that has been doing PT for 45 years. Excellent but doesn't push to the point of extreme pain. Needed more of a structured plan at home. That is why I signed up for the Knee Bending Class online. This really helped. Also after 6 weeks I would go 2 times a week to the pool and do simple exercises.
I am at 8 weeks now and will be going back to work in 3 weeks. Concerned about being on my feet all day. Definitely will have ice packs with me.
I still can't sleep comfortably in my bed. Living in a recliner!

Hi Dr. Samantha I'm a little concerned. Was the Facebook Group shut down? I noticed I haven't seen any posts lately, did a search and it's not coming up! Your FB page was a life saver for me, when I had nobody else to talk to, when I felt alone, or abandoned by my surgical team I always had this page to turn to. Any ideas what happened?

Hi Samantha. I sent you commemts back in Jan prior to preparing for surgery. I haf TKR REVISION in Jan 2024. After a failed TKR and 2 MUAs btw 2019-2021.
6 months out and still in therapy. Ive gone from 75ROM going into surgery to 139ROM. My Passive is 120. I have mininal swelling now. Thankfully. But still experience stiffness and tightness. My normal ROM is 155+ on the opposite leg. My question is have you ever had a TKR patient with a resting ROM 125+. And whats the highest ROM youve seen post TKR?
Thanks so much. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.

I had TKR done 8 months ago and still keep up with bending my knee to and past its max ROM. Resting ROM is over 125 degrees and reaches 150 degrees at full bend. My Doctor said max ROM depends on the patient as everyone is different, sometimes the knee parts will come in contact when at full bend

Hi Dr. Smith, I am 20--months post TKR. I did need an MUA 6-weeks after my surgery as I was only reaching 40% knee bend. I had several scopes for meniscus tears as well as an ACL reconstrution in 1993. My doctor advised me that he needed 45 minutes xtra surgery time after he completed the TKR to remove the large amount of scar tissue that I had. I have never reached over 90 percent range of motion even though I did have the MUA. I had a Total Hip Replacement 3-weeks ago on the same side as my knee replacement. I am limpimg quite a bit. My therapist said that my knee is the cause of the limping, not my new hip. She recognized quickly that my knee's range of motion is very poor. I am working very hard doing my hip exercises but what can I do about my knee? I use heat before doing my knee bending exercises but it just will not bend past a certain point. Can I have another MUA? Is it possible something is wrong with a part the doctor put in my knee?

I'm getting a RTKR in January. I've had my knee scoped twice and the swelling was really bad. I'm going to take a wild guess and say after a TKR the swelling is much worse than a knee scope? Best way to get the swelling down so one can do the PT? Ice, ice baby?

Hi Samantha I've still got pain and stiffness 11 Months after my tkr I wish I had not had it done its worse than it was before and my surgeon said he can not do anything else for me because its a soft tissue problem I'm walking ok but it's very uncomfortable, I won't be getting my other knee done in a hurry 😢
