Thank goodness, I found this channel as I was three weeks out then. Now at 10 weeks, I did have the Manipulation (MUA). Very easy process and went from 98 to 127. On my own I get 115. Continue speak UP with your surgical team and PT. Utilize a modified version during PT to achieve the ultimate goal. We are all in the boat of recovery. Stay positive-u can do it! Thanks again Dr Sam for addressing everything one will need to be successful. Her method does work…

I had to have a manipulation under anesthesia, and when I came out of it, the next day after I was back to swelling so bad and it was so painful, I wish I never had it done. After that, I had 12 days straight of PT it almost killed me. THERE is NOTHING WORSe tHEN HAVING SOMEONE PUSH YOUR KNEE DOWN ONTO THE Table then move it to a bending position and push it to bend it as far as it will go. I hold on to the table, and it is all I can do not to s ream. Tears are running down my face. Then I go back to the surgeon, and he is just so defensive saying I don't know what is wrong with you I got to bend it all the way under anesthesia. Needless to say, I am 110 bending and about 5 degrees straightened. My insurance won't pay for any more PT and tomorrow's my last session. I can not tell you how much I want to skip it. He is going to want good numbers and will kill me to do it!❤❤❤😂😢😢😢

IMO..The success of TKR also depends on right exercise by Physiotherapist. Especially, in first 4 to 6 weeks after TKR. It is so important.

I wish I had known about scar tissue formation before TNR. I had all the symptoms you described from the initial surgery swelling, to getting "stuck" at 6 weeks, however my surgeon was reluctant to do MUA and wanted me to push on. Finally at 1 year after TNR I had arthroscopic surgery done on the front of my knee and went from 90 to 105 ROM. Today my knee still doesn't have full ROM and I still have tightness and pain, especially when going down stairs. Any suggestions or is the scar tissue pretty much here to stay? I still exercise daily and also walk to keep things moving.

WOW, after reading all the comments on here about people not have a very good experience and or results of their TKR is very unfortunate. I had my right knee done 4 weeks ago and the pain is minimal now, maybe a 1 on the 1 to 10 scale ( still lots of swelling though) ....except when doing my knee bending exercise then it is closer to a 10 as I bend it as much as I can take the pain to get the maximum stretch. I am now at 125 degrees . Dr. Samantha, is it ok to force the bend like I am doing or is that not advisable? Thank you for your video, much appreciated by many :)

13 months and 3 mua 's after tkr. I have been told I have a problem with developing a LOT of scar tissue . After doing constant PT and seeing 3 different Physios I have given up as I am seeing no change only a 65 degree bend . My question is am I stuck with this now and just accept I have a straight leg or is there something else I could do .
The main problem was that I am on blood thinners and so cannot take any anti inflams so it just stays swollen .
Any ideas would be great. P.s I have tried elevation and ice etc . Like many others I now regret having this done at one point even thought about having below the knee surgery to remove the leg 😂😂 but soon came to my senses.

      Please don't be despondent.
I was in tears 3 days after my op as the PTs said I needed to be 90 before I left the hospital.
I was nowhere near that. I was 50 max.
I am now 8 weeks in and doing hydrotherapy which helps.
I exercise in the bath every day and use mini goals to aim for.
I use every opportunity as a bending opportunity such as lunging when walking up a step.
      Bending slowly when sitting.
Don't get me wrong. I still have a way to go, but I take it easy and not beat myself up.
      You should see progress.
And yes. My knee is still swollen with nerve issues.

@reenasrivastava516 so sorry to hear that. I wish doctors would be open and say, or provide a list of "need to knows" to tell everyone about the complexity and very long challenges with this type of surgery before they commit. We are not all athletes that are going to be walking, running, or playing sports to keep scar tissue from gathering in the coming years! I just wanted to be able get up and down from a chair, walk steps, hike regularly, perhaps some pickleball or mild sport, but not have to do specific exercises 3 times each and every day forever! This surgery has not been perfected yet! I wish the best for you. Take care.
