I was at this show, standing about four rows back, to the right of Larry's drum kit on the mini-stage. I've heard it said that everyone who attends a U2 concert has a moment where they're moved to tears. This song did it for me. I don't cry much but, my tears were happily flowing during this song.
This is my favourite song ever for a lot of reasons.. In Roma during the last Joshua Tree tour i didn't know the playlist and they played this song, one of the best moments in my life
God this is painful to watch. I’m not trying to dog him for this. But all the luster and power of this song is completely gone due to the fact that they had to transpose it in order for him to be able to still sing it. And the only one he has the blame for losing and destroying his once beautiful instrument is himself. That’s what happens when you constantly tour and smoke for over two decades whilst using wildly awful technique. There’s no reason that they have to sound as bad. The band is still great. But Bono? Yikes.
Theres just a few singers who can sing with the same voice or power, simon le bon, jagger, joe Elliott, klaus meine, as an example, bono lost his falsetto about the popmart-elevation tour era, his voice changed and his power too but not bad to be 60+
I like U2 and Bon Jovi but every time I've seem them in concerts(l90s) THEY BOTH SUCKED and I left early; whereas Tom Petty and Bruce are AWESOME in concert. I've seen Bruce 20+ times and he's NEVER disappointed, same as TP.
