My elderly male cat started urinating on the walls and meowing whilst doing that. I immediately took him to the vet since it was definitely an abnormal behavior. He had an UTI which required antibiotics twice a day for 10 days. The first day, more medicine was on the table or floor then in his mouth (I used a syringe). He always got away from me by backing up so I thought about where I could put him so he couldn’t back away and I came up with the bathroom sink as the perfect place. I covered the faucet with a blanket so he wouldn’t knock out a tooth and I covered him, wrapped my left arm around him making sure his hind feet were in the sink, squeezed him against my body, lifted his chin with my left hand and squirted the medicine in with my right hand. It worked perfectly. He got a treat after, right in the bathroom, and by the 10th day there was little resistance, he knew he would get a treat and he was feeling 100% better.!
My cat had stopped eating for days at a time & was losing weight. I was gonna take her back to the vet, then I saw this video. Never occurred to me that I wasn't washing her dish often enough. Now, I'm washing it with every feeding, she's eating normally again & gaining weight. Great tip.👍
Yes !! Cats are very sensitive & very hygienic animals !! They don't eat if their dishes aren't clean !!! They don't drink water ( usually they don't care for water ,my cats didn't like a water fountain for cats even ) if it's next to or close to their foods ! They stop using a litter box if you don't clean everyday = they develop bladder / kidney issues ,so this is very bad !! You need 1 more extra litter box to the numbers of your cats ! They can stop using litter boxes all together ! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
@@9LivesToLive I never knew how affectionate cats could be until I got 2 of my own, Scooter and Muggins. Muggins will scratch and roll back the top of my blanket so she can cuddle with me and Scooter sleeps on my left shoulder every night. I love them so much!
So glad Mr.Muffin recovered. We had the exact same thing happen with our Maine Coon, Luke, about 2 weeks ago. His vet gave him the same treatment as Mr. Muffin, and he recovered as well. Happy for both of us and our fluffy boys 🙂!
To 9 Lives to Live :- Your video is perfect, with an excellent amount of useful information. Your suggestions have helped us immensely with our cat not eating much. Much better than the vet videos we watched. Thank you 😊.
My cat has never gone outside for 4 years since she was adopted. She was deworm when I adopted her. Last month we found out she has worms. Then we figured It's very likely that our shoes brought in the worm/eggs after stepping on the lawn, then onto the floor inside the house. When the cat lays down on the floor, she actually involuntarily eats those worms or eggs when she grooms herself. So even your cat never goes outside, you should always deworm your cat every 2 years.
Thank you for documenting this experience and sharing it in such an orderly and concise way. I recently had a very similar experience and it's nice to feel reassured that it was likely just a flu. I hadn't considered how it could have got in our home. I'll be reminding my daughter about the importance of washing hands after touching all the animals of the neighborhood before handling our fur baby.
My cat has the exact same symptoms, but it’s been 24 hours since the vet gave him his injection for nausea and an appetite stimulant. He is still not eating. I’ll try the baby food trick. He must have the stomach flu or some kind of flu as well. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Unfortunately, those nausea shots only last about 24 hours and you might have missed the window. But try the baby food. Even a tiny bit of food is better than none at all.
@@9LivesToLive The baby food worked! He liked a little off my finger, then ate one of his puréed treat packets. Going to try wet food in a couple hours. Still not drinking water on his own, but I’m using a baby medicine syringe to give him water.
One of my cats stopped eating and was breathing really heavy,it'schest was going like a pair of bellows, blood work at the vets ruled out any kidney, liver or thyroid problems,a scan showed huge amounts of fluid in its pericardium and abdomen, cat is doing much, much better after being prescribed medications to support its heart function and to reduce the internal fluids.he's eating like the champ he is.🤗🤗
I just went through this with one of my cats. She got very ill and had significant fever. I took her to the emergency vet and they found nothing so they gave her the antibiotic and anti nausea and a shot to help bring back her appetite. I took her to my vet the next day and he was concerned due to her fever still being high and she still didn't want to eat but she was drinking quite a bit. So 2 more shots and some Hills wet cat food for all of them to share and by the next morning she did eat a little. It took a full week of her mostly sleeping and gradually eating a little each day but she is now 110%. Her diagnosis is one we cat people hate to hear...Fever of Unknown Origin. Something tells me this won't be her last time to get sick and whatever this was, it really made her very ill.
To 9 Lives to Live :- Your video is perfect, with an excellent amount of useful information. Your suggestions have helped us immensely with our cat not eating much. Much better than the vet videos we watched. Thank you 😊.
Great story and one to remember..I might be old fashion (no might be about it) but my favorite cat tonic is the oil from a can of sardines..high in calories, omega 3's, micro nutrients cats, especially kittens, love it and it lubes the digestive tract..
My cat has been eating very very little for almost a week now. She goes over to her bowl frequently and eats a very tiny bit. She is not lethargic, her stool has not changed, and she’s purring and cuddling as usual. I tried to give her a different food with no results. I bought her some all natural fresh tuna and salmon cat food and she laps up the liquid but doesn’t eat the fish. That is not unusual for her she’s a very picky eater. I took her to the vet two days ago. The vet said her dental is fine, her blood work came back beautifully, she did an x-ray and thought she was a little constipated and she gave her two enemas, And some fluids. I’m not sure what to do now. The vet said she could send my cat to a specialist to get her insides looked at more closely for another $500. She said she could give her something to stimulate her appetite. She said she could take a closer look with some $75 procedure. She told me that I could try meal feeding the cat (only offer her food twice a day at her meal times)….I’m so confused. I don’t feel like I’m being given much guidance and while my cat is worth spending another $500 on, I’m not sure I trust this vet. My cat also has some hair loss in her belly and her back legs. Does anyone have any feedback for me?
It sure is stressful when you don't know what is wrong with your cat. My friend Jenny's cat went through the same thing. Her problem was stress. Is there anything that might have stressed your cat? For example, a new cat, pet or person in the house? Have you changed anything major? Also, is your cat losing weight? Jenny's cat lost a couple of pounds but eventually got them back, and more, when she got used to the change that caused her stress. Let me know.
@@9LivesToLive I have the same problem too and theres no source of stress i can think of. We even went to the vets and they did an external examination and said everything else was good :(
You have to be a detective to figure this out... interesting story thank you for sharing. My cat won't eat either and went down a similar path...I think she is bored with the food i am feeding her and started to experiment with different wet food. She won't go near the stuff I normally have been feeding her for the past 5+ years.
Yes, sometimes it's really hard to figure out what's bothering your cat, and that problem is not limited to health issues. It can be any behavior. Thanks for your comment, Michael!
A LO?t of main stream cat foods are NO GOOD. I now buy the better brands, unaffordable but, I LOVE my cats ....Don't put any trust in cheap brands of cat food, I fed my previous cats Freakiest canned wet foods, I trusted Friskies, I don't anymore. My cats , 3 of them got cancer and died. Thoroughly UPSET about it.👿👿👿👿👺👺
Thanks for sharing your experience... it help me a lot dealing with my sick cat. When i visited the vet they also said my cat may got viruses or bacteria and they prescribe oral antibiotic and vitamin ..
Thank you for a detailed story, my cat looks nauseous and doesn't want to eat even her favorite treat so i got worried.. hopefully it's not something serious, maybe like something mr. Muffin caught🥺
When I added water to my kittens pate to make it soupy it was a total game changer. She would eat it as soon as I put it out for her and she would eat it all. Some cats just love their food to be extra wet I guess.
Thank you for suggesting baby food. I have tried everything I could think of, from pulverizing kibble in a food processor to scrambling an egg. The baby food helped. I only wish he would eat more than a few fingers full. We are seeing a vet tomorrow. I don't know if my boy will be coming home but at least I tried.
Mr. 9 Lives to Live, my female cat often suffers from bladder infections that she gets constipated, our kitten goes outside every day. We clean our kitten every day with a washcloth, especially her paws and her chest which is often dirty.
@@9LivesToLive we have been told by several people that our kitten may be stressed and that we should give stress-reducing food, we have now started with this food, we also bought a collar at the pet store with a stress-reducing aroma. We hope these products can help her relax. Greetings from Amsterdam, Holland.
I hear good things about stress reducing pheromones like Feliway. I don't know if you have that brand in Holland. But I hope your cat feels less anxious with the steps you are taking, and thanks for your comments.
My female cat Tiger is 17 1/2 yrs old. She has mostly stopped eating. All she does is sleep. I've taken her to the vet twice. The first vet tested Tiger's blood and urine. The second vet is presently testing for hyperthyroidism which they say can cause a cat to stop eating. The first vet didn't find anything significant with the blood and urine tests. The second vet gave Tiger an antibiotic. Tiger had been given an antibiotic in December. She has lost almost three pounds since December. She weighed a few ounces more on the scale at the second vet. Anyway, the vet wanted to do exrays another things I can't afford. I have already spent about $560 on this cat and over $100 on another cat. And this is during the summer when I am not working because I drive a school bus. So I have been given some temporary pain meds because I know Tiger has joint issues. They also told me to buy fish oil and glucosamine for Tiger.
Your info was waa good. You have beautiful cats too. .....I subscribed ! 😺😺😸😸 I have 2 cats . one 14 yr. old doesn't eat like she used too. Drinks A lot of water though and is losing weight. You pointed out some possibilities though, I feed strays, although I always tried to jeep my distance she could have picked up. A virus, cat flu etc. Taking her to the vet😼😼
My cat refuse to eat, starts vomitting 2-3 days ago, but now she has stop vomit but continue refused to eat. I tried to feed her favourite cat treats & boiled chicken, still don’t want to eat. And she’s now likes to hide under the sofa ☹️ at least she still drinks water after constant monitoring. But we still get her to vet for more detail check up. Wish me & my kitty best of luck!
@@9LivesToLive update after vet visit: the doctor said there’s nothing wrong with her after check up, she’s 3.7 kg, healthy & pretty strong cat. They also gave me a few medicine to increase her appetite since she rarely eats right now. But she still isolate herself with us, and im not sure why. She’s been living with us for 3 years already. Its like she’s lost her memory or something. She poop well, drinks well. We never kept her in stress environment, our house is basically cat free roam place, there is no restricted area. She used to follow me like a dog & sleep with us all the night. So Im really sad right now but i will try my best to help her back to her energetic self again.
hi! how is your cat doing now? my cat is doing the same too, she vomited this morning and fortunately stopped but won't eat. she'd also drink water but refuses to eat anything. we're taking her to the vet tomorrow but i'm really worried about her at the moment :(
Beautiful cats. I'm currently dealing with my boy - Davey right now not feeling well. He's a SUPER fussy cat who hates any kind of change. Noticed past 2 day his food bowl was never really empty. Like he wasn't eating his full amount of food. (dry kibble) Also yesterday he did a bit of gagging/heaving. Spit up a little bit of I'm guessing water. It was clear. Then later puked up some kibble and water. So today I made sure to clean his bowl and clean up his food area real nice. Still he was sticking his nose up at it and doing his typical trying to cover up the food w/ his paw motion. He's always done this... lol My boy LOVES water. Caught him drinking today. So no issue there. Perhaps its maybe a hairball? Hoping its not a blockage of any sort. Could be nerves too.. we just got a new roof on the house last week with 3 days of booming and banging. Then just yesterday another crew came back and put a new skylight in. So he's probably been pretty stressed. Keeping a eye on him when he gets up and see if hes going to eat/drink or use the litter box. He's even so fussy he doesn't really even like wet food. (I know right!?) But found out a while back he LOVES those Licky Stick cat treats that is pretty much wet food in a little stick pouch form. So going to the store tonight to pick some of those up. I know its important to have male cats eat wet food once in a while to keep crystals down. So ya.. sigh! Hoping for the best! Ty for this video! Happy your boy is doing well!
my cat hasn’t been eating nor drinking for the past 3 days. When we pick her up she meows in pain. We went to the animal hospital and they basically didn’t do anything. They just gave us a sedative, and said we should do an ultra sound. We cannot afford that so we had just been force feeding him liquids through a syringe. Not actually food. I’m scared
Sorry to hear that. They probably think it's an obstruction, but need to verify. Call all the vets in your area to see if they offer discounts. But if it is an obstruction, that might mean surgery. Another expense.
it's so clear how much you adore your cats.😻 ¡tu eres buena gente! (please forgive my semi fluency en Español😉) thanks so much for answering all my cat questions. 🩵
yes useful info. however, my 2 cats are indoor only.. and only 1 of them is like that right now. The vet gave her the antibiotics shot, before going to cattery because we had to fly overseas for 5 days -- she ate normally that evening when we picked them up (they said that all went really well tho), but next morning this monday, she stopped eating... now is wednesday evening - got some syringue liquid snack food in..tomorrow again with water probably because even with a fountain i haven't seen her going to the bathroom as often as before...vet will be on Friday AM - wish me luck as our baby Birmans are only 8mo. old...Sister is a big fluff and eat anything!
My 7-month old kitten has been doing the same thing for like a week and a half now, she eats a tiny tiny bit and some treats, thats about it. Vets are very expensive so thats an extra thing to worry about
Very helpful! I have a cat refusing to eat much who was otherwise deemed healthy by the local vet... blood test and all. I will harass them for some anti-nausea meds and maybe antibiotics if this continues. Meanwhile I'm giving the cat lots of treats or whatever she will nibble on. It's worrying.
@@9LivesToLive Thanks for responding! So far, my vet gave me the anti-nausea pill to break up & dose after I asked if it might help my cat. The cat is finally eating some of her regular food after taking it, so I'm still waiting to see if she will recover. I have the baby food on hand. Will see...
@@9LivesToLive She's still barely eating. Even refusing the baby food. She will only nibble at blue wildness brand cat food. I took her to the vet again, and they treated her for constipation and gave her fluids. However, that still didn't change her eating or signs of nausea. Next step will be x-rays if she hangs in there over the weekend. It's so mysterious. She wouldn't be the type to eat toys. I hope if someone had a similar experience they share it online. I'm looking for more tips.
My fluffy cat like Mr Muffin, was exactly the same with all the same symptoms and also an indoor cat. In desperation I cracked open the tinned tuna after a trip to the vet. Anti nausea tablet and pro biotic paste helped a little but it actually turned out she had a phenomenal hairball that she yakked up on the stairs, She’s eating more each day but not with the same vigour and has developed a taste for tinned sardines.
They are also signs of kidney failure. My cat didn't eat or drink water for 11 days, and constant dry heaves HE HAD CHRONIC KIDNEY FAILURE. HE WAS EUTHANIZED, NOT TO SUFFER ANY MORE. 😢 REST IN PEACE BABY SANDY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢❤❤❤
Thank you for all detail informations, my cat got injured huge cut on the leg and got infected now she eats very little, she is on antibiotics now I think I need to force feed her with baby food also.
Its been 2 and half day that my three months old kitten is not having anything. Before the thing, he was suffering from diarrhea and then the diarrhea got cured after deworming. But then he stopped eatingz when i took him to vet, he had fever. Now even after injecting and giving fever medicine, he is still not eating
I used to rescue cats and feed so many stray cats but I always get pissed whenever i found a cat which don't eat , and I have rescue a 2 months old kitten from street now he's 5 months and i think he got roundworms he stopped eating and drinking , I gave him deworming meds and fever meds and giving him water.
@@9LivesToLive i lost him this morning also like i lost other cats I rescued, and now I'm done with rescuing cats, all i can do is feeding stray cats, it's hurt when we raise them with love care about them and they just left. 💔
Hey I want you to make a video about what cats eat! My cat sprinkles is eating stuff she not suppose to eat, tape, yarn, and string. If she eats yarn she will poop it out and pretty weird stuff happend to my cats butt... and she eats a little bit a day... and I clean my house most times and she's not eating those stuff💜
Already went to the vet, get hospitalized twice but nothing change. Its almost a month my cat refused to eat and i have to feed him. He still want to drink but don't want to eat even when i bring food near, he have pseudo vomit mean he seems like wanted to vomit but did not
My cat isn't drinking & eating anymore for 1 week (or longer). She lost a lot of weight and it can be seen clearly as her body became really thin. She isn't also paying attention on me. She ignores me. 😭 I'm trying everything to help, feed, and comfort her. I've searched a lot of information regarding this issue. But it won't work. I'm just a teenager and I only have a hundred or two amount of money, so I can't take her on veterinarian. I asked my mom and she also doesn't have money to pay for it. We're in the middle of pandemic so it's much harder for me to help her. I really don't know what to do anymore. My heart is broken. I love my cat so much and I don't want her to leave me.. 💔😢 I'm afraid 😭😭😭
I started to notice the changes on my cat's behavior since the day that my mom's friend asked to have the one month-old kitten of my cat. (My cat just gave birth). It breaks my heart because I really don't want to give the kitten, because for me it's not a right thing for us to do. It's very wrong in my perspective. It's heartbreaking. My mom said that she was too shy to reject the request of her friend. 💔😥
Also, I think someone threw liquid (idk what liquid) on my cat because last last week she came home really went and she looks terrified. (Please don't judge me for letting her go out because I only wanted to give her freedom to explore. I have no bad intentions...🥺) I think someone hurt her. I'm really afraid and worried of what's happening in this world.. 💔
So sorry to hear about your cat. It really needs to see the vet. Please check around your town to see if there are any programs to help pay for a visit. Also call all the vets in your area. Ask them if they offer discounts, or have free clinics. They might also know of services that provide support for vet care. Call around and don't give up. Good luck.
My cat is a girl and she is going through something called heat right now. I gave her some wet food and she always will go after it and eat it directly without even thinking about it. I gave her wet food like some times ago and she still haven’t est it and it makes me a little bit worried why she act like that. She normally dont behave like this and i wonder if the ”heat” behavior is the reason why she behave like this.
That's terrible! I would take him to another vet for a second opinion, if you can afford it. I hope he gets better soon. Try to get him to drink a little at least.
Thank you for that video the information was wonderful My cat Jojo stop eating his food but but he wants to eat everything else around the house like my Christmas decorations or anything else that is not food to be consumed I am like a policeman behind him trying to make sure he does not eat anything hes not supposed to hes 5 years old now and I Got him when he was only 3 months old so he has been with me for a long time He's drinking his water not as often as I would want him to He does not want to eat his treats his wet food nor his dry food I am really worried about him right now since I really can't afford to take him to the vet I am Watching videos and trying to see if there's anything that I can do to help him I will try and change his food or like you suggested try and give him baby food maybe that would work hes went to the letter and he had diarrhea 2 times I am so worried about Jojo and I prayed that I could take him to the vet soon thanks for sharing a wonderful video I'm glad your Cat is doing well now
Sorry to hear about your cat, Jennifer. It might just be a virus, but he should eat something, even if it is a small amount until he feels better, or he can get very sick. I hope the baby food works. The eating non-food items, that is called pica. Contact your local Humane Society and see if they can recommend any way for you to get a vet to see him. He really should have professional care. Good luck!
My four year old male ragdoll cat Oliver has never been a big eater, but over some months I've noticed he barely eats and sometimes vomits, he used to love his cat treats in bed but he seems to be going off them aswell. I told the vet some weeks back but they said he looks healthy enough not lost weight, but i can clearly see he has lost some now. He drinks water okay, I've three other ragdolls, all my cats are from the same breeder, all three seem fine except from my boy Oliver, I also just thought aswell maybe him spraying on the bin has something to do with him being sick, but he has been spraying for a couple of years even though he has been neutered. Im going to take him to the vets and demand some tests done, I cant go on like this it's breaking my heart he is my everything, I honestly don't know what I would do without him.😢
@9LivesToLive Thank you I've tried different foods etc but no luck, and i just can't shake the feeling that something is really wrong with him, I'm going to go to vets on Monday see what can be done. I just can't stop worrying about him he is my absolute world, been through alot of bad and good times with me. I will never give up on him.
@jennawallace4487 Yes, trust your instincts. Unfortunately, cats are very good at hiding illness, so sometimes it's hard to assess until a crisis hits and there is very little time.
Hey my 2 year old male cat hasn't eaten anything in days, he's lost alot of weight and isnt drinking, Ive tried changing the food, changing the bowls, everything. He also has alot of flem coming from his mouth.
My cat grooms himself and drinks a lot of water but isn’t eating and not sure why. He licks the food, never really eats much only kinda sniffs and licks the food and then leaves. Even if he isn’t eating, is there a way to put nutrients in the water to replace the food?
I think you should take your cat to the vet. But while waiting for the appointment, try mixing some pate wet food with water to make a soupy slurry that can be licked up.
Thank you so much! This was very helpful!! But do you feel guilty knowing you went and pet other cats and then gave the sickness to your cat? Because I think it’s my fault and now I feel bad :(
May i know the antibiotic given...My cat got gas in her stomach as diagnosed by local vet who gave him an injection. Then vet prescribed 1 ml of alpha amylase enzyme 3 times/day but she is not recovering..now she is getting antibiotics of 300 mg doxycycline. May i know the antibiotic used in your case?
My cat hasnt eaten for a week or more. He has had a blood test, all was fine. Today i am taking him for an xray. He.sometimes will lick the juice from.wet food, but not eating.
Sorry to hear that. There is definitely something wrong. He should get a few calories each day. Have you tried making a slurry he can lick up from some wet food or baby food?
@@bertfo6525 thank you for asking. Unfortuantely, he passed. We took him to the vet hospital mutiple times. We used a feeding tube. He lost 1/2 his body weight. He was a great loss for the family. I struggle to look at his photo.
I wash their bowls every day? My cat doesn't want to eat? I took him to the vet, and they took X-rays he said that he has poop back up but is going down slowly. They gave him medication but still not eating. Will be taking him back to the vet tomorrow. He lost a lot of weight?
Thanks for your question, Marion. First, did you watch my video on drinking? Here is the link if you did not. th-cam.com/video/t7fsbCD3BQA/w-d-xo.html. If you feed all wet food, your cat will not drink very much because it is getting most of its water from its food. But if it eats dry food and is not drinking, it could be a problem. In the drinking video, I show you how to do a simple dehydration test on your cat. If it seems dehydrated, please take it to the vet as soon as possible.
My cat was the same he was having diarrhoea and then he stopped eatting and drinking for 3 days now and I toke him to hospital two times and the doctor said it’s nothing I am really worried about it
I noticed last Monday my cat didn’t touch her food at all I didn’t think to much of it at the time but Tuesday again no eating I called my sister who is a vet tech and she had me bring her in to the vet immediately and because she didn’t eat for a few days she developed a liver infection I made the decision to have a tub inserted just in case the medication didn’t work to restore her appetite I made the right call because even though she’s getting her meds and everything she still hasn’t eaten out of her bowls yet
Sorry to hear about your cat, Jonathon. Few people know that not eating in a cat can quickly lead to serious complications. This type of situation can be so stressful because you feel helpless. I hope it's just a virus that will go away in time. Update us when you know more.
I’m having the same issue with my cat that you described in the video. They gave him a shot for him being nauseated. Then they sent me home with something called a Elura as an appetite stimulant. I gave it to him yesterday. They said that he will eat today, but nothing. I didn’t give him it anymore. He still is not eating though but he is drinking a water. He passed his exam perfectly fine. Which antibiotic did they give him?
Sorry your cat is experiencing this problem. I don't remember the name of the antibiotic. But they said it was just a precaution, that most likely it was a virus and did not need an antibiotic. Did you try human baby food?
@@9LivesToLive I was thinking about getting a different brand food., the gave me hills science diet food.. he don’t like it. All he been doing is drinking water. Won’t eat. Right now he has Rachel Ray hard fold and fancy feast wet food.. I even tried his favorite treats and nothing 🥺
@Nailed by Queen Try just one small jar of Gerber chicken baby food. See if he will eat that. If he does, then consider switching his regular food. You might have to test several brands.
@@9LivesToLive hey so my other cat, I decided to give him to my mom because he was too hyper active with my six year old cat, so I think he is stressed. But he is doing a weird thing with his mouth. I tried human baby food. He still is not eating that.

I do not know, Skyline. My cats are spayed and have never been pregnant. There is a Facebook group where only vets can answer questions. It's called "Ask a Veterinarian" Maybe one of them can help you. Just go to "Groups" on Facebook and put the name in the search bar. And please, let me know how things go with your cat.
My cat was a very healthy 14 year old plus but suddenly started losing weight although eating very well. Took him to vet and they said he had pancreatitis and has liver problems and is hyperthyroid. He is refusing liver supplements. Took the anti nausea med and was really good with that and started on antithroid meds. He then had massive diarhea from the meds so the vet said we can give half the med. Then he started to refused to eat and we could not get him to eat. We stopped the thyroid med and gave him anti nauseant and he started to eat again. However, he still is not putting on weight. Don't know what to do. We have spent over $2000 to help sort him out but nothing seems to work. Not sure what to do. He was doing very well and then just suddenly started to go downhill. What's up with that? He has lost so much weight. Went from 14 Lbs to 10.2 in a matter of months.
There are many possible reasons. Some more common ones with new cats are: Are you feeding her the same food she had before? If it's a different food, she might be allergic to an ingredient in the new food. Also, if it's dry food, she might be eating it too fast. It could also be anxiety from a new home. But, since it has been several days, take her to the vet.
My cat is only 7 months old she was missing for 2 days after when she came back she ate a lot of food and milk after that day she vomited white foam but she started to eat again next day she again went missing and when she came back she stopped eating only drink water it's been 2 days i forced her to eat and she again vomited she became so thin she want to go outside i am not letting go her because her condition is bad she even tried to escape but i catched her.doctor gave her a white powder for digestion
This happened to our kitty and XRays (only) they proclaimed lymphoma. But it’s a guess..maybe an educated guess but a guess. Am not sure what to do…sitting around waiting for her to die is very painful…am going to try baby food…
Been rewatching this as my new cat has been sick for a day. I have Vet appt tomorrow. Wouldn’t you know it is a holiday weekend. @@9LivesToLive She finally sorted it out herself a couple of days later. Two months back she came down with bad breath and was slobbering pus! The vet gave her Clindamycin for ten days and violla, cured. But I'm afraid that is going to return again! ^..^~~
I made the mistake of giving my cat too many treats. He stopped eating wet food and only ate the treats. so i stopped the treats and after 3 days he started eating proper food
My cat refused to eat for one month. She had survived only on dry food which she nibble a little at a time. Finally I let her lie in bed with me for a while each day that make her resume to eat like normal again. I had refused to let a cat on my bed because, a kitten had died beneath me when I was a child. Somehow she is aware of my phobia that she only need to lie beside me while I am awake. She will get off my bed the moment I feel sleepy. This arrangement had stopped her from resorting to hunger strike. I felt guilty for giving her a good beating on the third day of her hunger strike. This wouldn't happened if I am as telepathic as she is!
Poor cat, your cat had to endure a beating from you, NO cat should have to endure a beating. Cat do what they do for a reason. You caused the cat fear and great anxiety.😧😨😨
An excellent point, Anna. The easiest way to get a cat to stop eating is yelling and hitting. They associate the fear with the food and you now have a bigger problem. And this does not even address the issue of bullying and intimidating an animal that depends on you. But I am glad that Jalaluddin eventually found a solution.
Thanks for the tips! Getting behind them is the key.
I kneeled with cat backed between my knees, perhaps in a bathtub, with my feet together to keep cat from backing out.
My cat had stopped eating for days at a time & was losing weight. I was gonna take her back to the vet, then I saw this video. Never occurred to me that I wasn't washing her dish often enough. Now, I'm washing it with every feeding, she's eating normally again & gaining weight. Great tip.👍
I'm glad it helped you! Thanks for the message!
My goodness! I recently was slacking on washing the bowl.

So glad Mr.Muffin recovered. We had the exact same thing happen with our Maine Coon, Luke, about 2 weeks ago. His vet gave him the same treatment as Mr. Muffin, and he recovered as well. Happy for both of us and our fluffy boys 🙂!
Glad to hear about Luke. I love Maine Coons!

@@sneakypress Thanks so much for your comment!
It's amazing what we can drag into the home on our shoes! Good luck with your cats, and thanks for the comments! Very useful.
Your welcome, Tim. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it!

One of my cats stopped eating and was breathing really heavy,it'schest was going like a pair of bellows, blood work at the vets ruled out any kidney, liver or thyroid problems,a scan showed huge amounts of fluid in its pericardium and abdomen, cat is doing much, much better after being prescribed medications to support its heart function and to reduce the internal fluids.he's eating like the champ he is.🤗🤗
I'm so glad he is doing better! It sounds so stressful!
I so glad your cat is better, Sandysue! It's very stressful when you don't know how to help them. Thanks for watching!
You didn't mention any blood tests being done. 🙀🙀🙀 hope your cat is better now

Great story and one to remember..I might be old fashion (no might be about it) but my favorite cat tonic is the oil from a can of sardines..high in calories, omega 3's, micro nutrients cats, especially kittens, love it and it lubes the digestive tract..
I did not know about sardine oil. Thanks for the tip!

Let me know.
hey, did you manage to sort out the issue?
@@9LivesToLive I have the same problem too and theres no source of stress i can think of. We even went to the vets and they did an external examination and said everything else was good :(
Take your cat to another vet, get a second opinion, I would. 😼😼😼
Can you give us an update? What was the issue?

I hope so too!
When I added water to my kittens pate to make it soupy it was a total game changer. She would eat it as soon as I put it out for her and she would eat it all. Some cats just love their food to be extra wet I guess.
Great tip, Toasted! Thanks for the comment.

Mr. 9 Lives to Live,
my female cat often suffers from bladder infections that she gets constipated, our kitten goes outside every day. We clean our kitten every day with a washcloth, especially her paws and her chest which is often dirty.
Sometimes you have to clean paws a lot. They step into lots of stuff you don't want in the house.
@@9LivesToLive Your Welcome!
This is a difficult situation. Sometimes it's hard to know what to do. I would focus on keeping her comfortable.
Your info was waa good. You have beautiful cats too. .....I subscribed ! 😺😺😸😸 I have 2 cats . one 14 yr. old doesn't eat like she used too. Drinks A lot of water though and is losing weight. @@eli-nf4bl I hope the vet will help you figure out what's wrong. It's probably a virus like Mr Muffin.
Another expense.

yes useful info. however, my 2 cats are indoor only.. and only 1 of them is like that right now.
I would guess she picked up a virus in the cattery. Antibiotics would not have helped. I hope she is better by now.
My 7-month old kitten has been doing the same thing for like a week and a half now, she eats a tiny tiny bit and some treats, thats about it. Vets are very expensive so thats an extra thing to worry about
Eating a little is better than eating nothing. How is her energy? Is she still playing like normal? That is also an important indicator of her health!

Anti nausea tablet and pro biotic paste helped a little but it actually turned out she had a phenomenal hairball that she yakked up on the stairs,
She’s eating more each day but not with the same vigour and has developed a taste for tinned sardines.
She might have an irritated throat from the huge hairball. You might need to brush your cat more often to avoid another hairball like that.

Your cat is obviously nauseous. Unfortunately, I can't say why.
Sorry for the long comment. I just really wanted to let go of some of the burden that I carry. Please pray for my cat. 😢
So sorry to hear about your cat. It really needs to see the vet. Please check around your town to see if there are any programs to help pay for a visit. Also call all the vets in your area.
Because I think it’s my fault and now I feel bad :(
I don't feel bad because I did not know it was a problem. Now, I always wash my hands if I have touched other animals.
I'm sorry but that was several years ago and I no longer have the information.
Thank you
You are welcome, Pauline!
Update please?
@@bertfo6525 thank you for asking. Unfortuantely, he passed. We took him to the vet hospital mutiple times. We used a feeding tube. He lost 1/2 his body weight. He was a great loss for the family. I struggle to look at his photo.
What wa the antibiotics called
What medicine/antibiotic did the vet give you?
Orbax
Thank you for sharing.

I wash their bowls every day? My cat doesn't want to eat? I took him to the vet, and they took X-rays he said that he has poop back up but is going down slowly. They gave him medication but still not eating. Will be taking him back to the vet tomorrow. He lost a lot of weight?
Did they say why he is pooping slow?
He passed away on Saturday from Pancreatis he was not producing insulin?
@lianaperez7788 I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't know anything about pancreatitis but am sorry you lost your cat.
Thank u
Sorry I hate that.
Thank you.

My cat wont drink water I'm worried about her what can I do
Thanks for your question, Marion.
How did they determine stomach flu?
I think it was a process of elimination. Nothing else seemed to be wrong and he showed signs of nausea.
My cat was the same he was having diarrhoea and then he stopped eatting and drinking for 3 days now and I toke him to hospital two times and the doctor said it’s nothing I am really worried about it
It is probably a virus, but you should try to get him to eat a little bit. The baby food worked well for me. I just needed one small bottle.
@@9LivesToLive no I haven’t tried human baby food yet. What kind should I buy?
What medication they gave u
I don't remember the name.
I wash both bowl everyday
Great! that is very necessary!
My joey doesn't want to eat and drink? We do have cats where I live at.
How is he doing now?
What baby food can I get? My cat won’t eat anything or drink water. I don’t want to put him to sleep. Please help
@@ChristianJDY Try Gerber. What did the vet say?
@@9LivesToLive he was getting fed in a tube, but now that got infected and that area of his skin is dead.
Options will be putting him to sleep or maybe just maybe surgery but it’s through the tube where he’s already infected.
He just won’t eat anything. Nothing not even water
My cat was pregnant and her Labour was near. But she has stopped eating from Saturday. What to do ? Can u pls suggest me any ideas?
I do not know, Skyline. My cats are spayed and have never been pregnant. There is a Facebook group where only vets can answer questions. It's called "Ask a Veterinarian" Maybe one of them can help you. Just go to "Groups" on Facebook and put the name in the search bar. And please, let me know how things go with your cat.
My 4 babies stopped eating regular amount lately.
Is the weather hot? Sometimes cats eat less when it's hot.
So sorry to hear your cat is sick. Sometimes we can't do very much except keep them comfortable.
My new cat is not eating and has been throwing up everyday, what can i do to help her
There are many possible reasons. Some more common ones with new cats are:
Are you feeding her the same food she had before?
Sorry to hear the problem with your cat. It could be many things. I hope she gets better.
This happened to our kitty and XRays (only) they proclaimed lymphoma. But it’s a guess..maybe an educated guess but a guess. Am not sure what to do…sitting around waiting for her to die is very painful…am going to try baby food…
Yes, try the baby food. It's so hard to know what to do, sometimes all we can do is try our best. So sorry you and your cat are going through this.
Mine wont eat for 2 days and she just died today...
R.I.P. Zumba :(

Been rewatching this as my new cat has been sick for a day. I have Vet appt tomorrow. Wouldn’t you know it is a holiday weekend. He wasn’t drinking so I have been giving him 3-4 syringes every few hours. Just now he came out n ate a little n drank some water. Phew! I couldn’t take one more loss. Thank you Fernando for all your advice. ❤
As long as he eats a little, he'll be okay until the vet visit.
@@9LivesToLive The night before going to Vet he was back to normal. The cutest thing I have ever experienced with a cat is Toby will come to bed a bit after me n my arm is extended out, side sleeper, n he puts his head in my hand n goes to sleep. He does it all the time. Cutest thing ever. I thank the Lord he got over whatever bug he had. 2 nights of anxiety I am too old for it. Thanks for your help.
Thanks a bunch, I pray for everyone’s babies be healed in Jesus name. And if you don’t subscribe to that type of prayer… Well, prayers anyway
We have alot cats usually some cats stop eating for 2 days and they get better and start eating but one cat haven't eaten for a couple days but this cat is super sick paralyzed from the back in bad shape his suffering and i don't trust the vet
@donramon2501 Sometimes it's really hard to know what to do.
I use a baby wipe to clean my nubus back side its lot easier 😊
Great tip! Thanks, Divine!
I got 1 kitten she is 2 Months Old, She was very Healthy, Please Help me out:(
She stopped eating like 2 days right now
HELP PLS
I'm so sorry your kitten is sick. The best suggestion I have it to take her to the vet. It could be many problems and requires an examination.
My cat didn't eat and turned out she had lymphoma.
That's terrible! So sorry to hear that.
😢😢😢
I haven’t found a vet that cares. They gave me meds charged me $200 and the cat died two days later
@@johnnyd413 So sorry to hear that. It should not have happened!
My cat is doing this NOW!
^..^~~
Sorry to hear that. Take it to the vet if it is still not eating. Cats can get seriously ill just from not eating.
@@9LivesToLive She finally sorted it out herself a couple of days later. Two months back she came down with bad breath and was slobbering pus! The vet gave her Clindamycin for ten days and violla, cured. But I'm afraid that is going to return again!

Ah my older cat wont eat or drink and almost sleeping all day
I'm sorry. There is definitely something wrong. Only the vet can help figure out if it's something easy to fix or a big problem.
I made the mistake of giving my cat too many treats. He stopped eating wet food and only ate the treats. so i stopped the treats and after 3 days he started eating proper food
I'm glad he started eating real food again. I didn't know that could happen. Thanks for the info!
omgg ive been doing that but my cat only eats her wet food if it has treats, otherwise she wont touch it :(
💯 👍
Might be a pre IBD condition
Fortunately, it has not recurred!
@@9LivesToLive 😅 thank goodness
My cat wont like to eat. Because she s not feeling well
Sorry to hear that. If it continues more than two days, take her to the vet.
I'm glad you found a solution to the problem! Thanks for sharing your experience, Jalaluddin!
YOU EVIL HUMAN BEING THE XAT IS UNWELL. WOULD YOU BEAT A HUMAN 😢
Cats don’t need baths.
Most of the time you are right, but sometimes they do.
Yes you are right in the case they get really dirty or can’t groom themselves. That’s why they hate it I think.
