    Hey - thanks for the extra info on turning the 3 rack into a 6! Really nice looking too👍

    Thanks Pete. To many kayaks laying around here also. Loved the portable rack so I can slide it out to load on the trailer. Now I just gotta find my garage. I know it's there somewhere.

      @@RiverKingsKayak As a small independent finish carpenter myself it is full of tools and material. I wish I could just build a garage for hobbies but then it would be bigger than my house. 🤔 Maybe I could move the beds to the garage and take over the house!

    Really good video Pete. I plan to show this to some of my friends and family, that think owning more then 10 yaks is a problem. You proved it’s totally normal, Thank you

      It is not normal to own less than 10!

    Now you got me motivated to build a rack for my Kaku's, it will be a great project while I'm social distancing.

    Thanks for the detailed steps! At the rate my garage is collecting kayaks, this may need to happen at my place.

      Thats what Im talking about! Now if they only made kayaks that can fold up and be put away!

    Thanks for the ideas. The roll around 6 kayak rack would definitely be convenient.

    I've heard good feedback about the woodglut instructions.

    For a quick build the yak rack was nice. Well done bro. Throw some stain or just white wash it and it will last yrs. Thanks for the vid.

    Thanks for this video! Can you explain a bit about how you determined what materials would properly support the weight of the kayaks on them? You mentioned using corner supports for rigidity, but not why you chose 4-in plywood, rather than, for example 3-in. I need to build a small rack that can support a 20-foot fibreglass sea kayak. Do I need castors that can support that weight or are they all created equal???

    • @RiverKingsKayak
      @RiverKingsKayak  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That width covered the 2x4's plus a little. There will not be a ton of weight on there, so some of this is not super critical. any decent size castor wheel will work.

    Now for that 6th spot, like all garages, you need that vintage muscle. Have like a Dagger Redline, a 69 Camaro or 70 Cuda of the kayak world lol

    I need to build something for our boats, but just haven’t decided what or where. Had thought about something like Adam Shoop’s kayak keeper, but would like to have them in my shop, along with my other gear. Also, I would have to shrink it because my ceilings are only 8 foot tall. I have scratched my head for years trying to figure out why I didn’t go with 10 foot ceilings when I built it. SMH

    You should do a video about all the boats you own 😁

    Hey, curious how you get those kayaks onto the top level? I'm building a 70" tall shelf and it'll work fine for now, but these delts aren't getting any younger.
    Any ideas for a hoist?

    • @RiverKingsKayak
      @RiverKingsKayak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have built a hoist before, but it was a lot of rigamarole in comparison to just lifting the kayak up there on occasion. I put my least used boats up there.
