My grandma (rest her soul, passing in her sleep at 90) had 17 kids but guess what, she had the financial stability to support them and had two husbands (different times but both passed away). She didn’t parentify any of them, she held them accountable for their actions, and it didn’t matter if you brought friends/significant others, or adopted children, she welcomed you into her home with a smile, homemade bread, and a buffet sized table a cooked food for you to munch on.

My dad was from the second husband and he….wasn’t the greatest guy from what little I remember and what was told (he passed when I was four) though I will say all the siblings are close. Yeah they did stupid teenage stuff when arguments happened, but family was family. (Irish/Catholic) everyone helped everyone from what I understand. The guys al came together to renovate my grandmother’s ground floor to add a full bathroom and a new master bedroom just so grandma wouldn’t have to go upstairs anymore due to her declining health. Paid it out of their own pocket and it was their idea. So yeah, grandma is well loved by everyone (I say is cause I still love her. I light a candle on the day of her passing and remember all the good years with her.)
My grandma had 12, with no kind of government assistance at that time, she cleaned homes, laundry for a living, and took care of me until I was 8! Her house was paid for, and we never went hungry! Sometimes you wonder if the welfare system and other programs are what’s creating this problem! To so many it’s a way of getting over and never getting on their own two feet.

14 years ago when I had my first son. I had a terrible c-section and the hospital was crowded so I ended up sharing a room with another mom. It was so uncomfortable when CPS came to tell her that her baby had drugs in his system and he wouldn’t be going home with her. Her response was she was around it touching it but not using it. I couldn’t believe it.
That's sad an that's why all these kids have problems
Man or hearing the lady across the hall from me baby screaming bc she was goin thru meth and heroin withdrawal and they had to wing the baby off drugs man a nurse even quit bc she said she couldn't do it anymore she didn't even get a chance to hold or name the baby I swear I felt so f'd up and it wasn't even my baby

I think women should be held accountable for the same things as men, & they are equally responsible for the consequences when they screw up. Im even quite opposed to alimony in most cases. Or at least for more than a year or so, under certain circumstances (i e the mom never having a job prior, is in some type of school/job training, needs to find adequate child care, has physical/mental issues, needs to move, etc).
I was a single mother of two children when I was 22 yrs old. I worked my tail off to take care my boys. I was 17 when I had my first son and 22 yrs old with my 2 second. I knew how hard it would be and decided to get my tubes tied so I could give my all to my sons that I had. I don't regret it. They both have grown up to be wonderful and hard working young men. I have two beautiful granddaughters now also and spoil them rotten. I love children but knew my what my limits where. Financially and emotionally. I wanted to give my all and working 60 hours a week to take care of two children..... How much time would I have to give if I had more? Know your limit Mama 8 ?
we have the same story! Stacy, I too was young when I had my boys and was left single with few options. I worked my tail off, went back to school and made a life for us. We were far from rich, but I had their backs and now they are wonderful men. It can be done.
I love how the judge wasn’t trying to hear her sob stories, & checked her whenever she tried telling one. & The random checkup on the kids is how you’re gonna find out what’s really happening.
Here in PA they give these chicks the date, time, & a call about when they’re coming. I’ve seen it before & it pisses me off! But for the fathers, they’ll give them a call stating that their outside their front door 😮. Unbelievable.
They need to do sneak attacks to really see what goes on on these households. To give a courtesy call/appointment just gives them time to get some food, clean up a bit and let anyone out of the home that isn’t allowed to be living there.

DHS catered to the mother. But when the father tried to intervene, he was shot down instantly. I watched how the social workers & judge talked to him. Almost as if they wanted him to react a certain way so the book can be thrown at him. Shit is crazy
I turned a mom in. I told them show up randomly not telling her when she’s testing. They caught her dirty and took her children. She got clean and got them back. She’s still doing good and both sons grown

In truth, as an alcoholic in full recovery, I personally can tell you that no person can responsibly look after a child with an untreated or active addiction or dependence on substances.
Every time you use - you are choosing that drug or drink over the health, welfare and safety of your children.
There is a better, simpler, healthier way and that is sobriety.
It is really that simple.

In Goldsboro NC a retired Vet working as manager of a Family Dollar was killed on Memorial Day. One of the two men who murdered him comes from a criminal family. I did a bit a research and discovered IF his mom, also a felon before she died, had been put in prison instead of probation it is very likely the man who killed the Vet would never have been conceived. Judges are lenient because of children imo. The reality is this has been ongoing for so long , judges who are lenient are not doing right for the children or society at large.
