  • This week we have decided to make a quick Q&A to answer a question we have been getting very often, which concerns the sock yarns that we have designed for REGIA Pairfect and how to knit them using the easiest (or second easiest) sock in the world.

I have never knitted a cuff down sock, and needed a size 13 for my son. I wound the two half’s of the Pairfect so the toe yarn became the beginning, and then knitted the sock toe up. I ended up with size 14’s (which was fine since my son uses a hot dryer), and I used a Sweet Tomatoe Heel for simplicity (STH is worked the same up or down!).
I think this yarn works terrific backwards for the larger men’s sizes. The challenge would be decreasing how many grams of toe yarn for the smaller sizes. (You could leave the toe end open, and later frog what length you didn’t need, and kitchner the toe closed.)

For leftover yarn uses: I like traditional Christmas. There is so much one can do with the bright yellow for children with hats and gloves for gifts. One can use the yellow yarn for replacing the wires on ornaments as I lose more of those ornament hangers every year. I've made crocheted stars to decorate the tree. There is a granny square pattern I've seen to make a multicolored Christmas tree skirt.
Easter, pom-poms of yellow yarn can make Easter chicks for children's Easter baskets.
Yellow is pretty in an autumn display as these days wreathed are used on doors not just for Christmas but with the changing season. Once could use the raspberry stitch and make an ear of corn, for example.
I always give things away. To keep using my hands with knitting keeps both my heart and attitude young. I watches a couple of women over a hundred years old who are still knitting and they are right in their minds. There is no drug that can do that. But we can knit ourselves happy and by giving to others what we make, gives a real sense of fulfillment.

I bought a lovely skein of this. Since I knit 2 socks at once on one long circular, I plan to:
    - pull out from center until I get to the yellow discard yarn. This ball should be my yarn for sock A. Cut yarn after yellow ends.
    - use a “ yarn bra” for sock B to keep yarn neat, and continue to pull yarn out from the center of this original skein for my second sock.
    - knit 2 at a time

A year or two ago I knitted two pairs of socks with Regia which I still have. Unfortunately, carried away by my success, I went back to the retailer and purchased a very reduced- price ball of Regia in the "Seconds" section which had come undone a little this was a disaster and I got in a very time consuming muddle before giving up ! However now I shall start another pair keeping to the rules so clearly explained by yourselves !

Hello from North Carolina, USA! I LOVE your videos! Purling has always kept me from knitting as much as I wanted ...until I taught myself the Norwegian way by watching your videos! Thank you so much!
I prefer making socks on DPNs and have recently found the method for doing two socks at once on DPNs. (It seems to be a double knit, really).
I was wondering if you would consider doing a tutorial for this method? I’ve tried following other videos, but I end up getting lost.
Also, could you cover in a bit more detail, how you are holding your yarn in order to control the tension? I have found that with the Norwegian method my stitches are very loose and bordering on messy. How do I correct this?
Sorry for so many questions and thanks again for the wonderful tutorials!

Making a couple of pairs of kiddy socks for Christmas using your regia pairfect kids color. What a fun and interesting concept and pattern! My project for this entire day has been researching how to knit the Boomerang aka German short row heel! I’m really having trouble with this method since I’ve always made a heel flap and gusset and am familiar with that method. I heard you say in this podcast that you can actually make the socks without requiring the german short row method?? Please please confirm this for me Carlos!! I’m sitting here with half completed socks waiting for confirmation on the heels?! Thank you thank you in advance. 💖⭐️

When Arne says he does two rows of the blue-- does he mean in the round or just for the heel? How does he avoid the hole in the corner? Otherwise this is my favorite pattern and these are my favorite designers. I even mastered the Norwegian purl as a combination knitter whose roots are in Eastern Europe and Ireland.

I knit top down afterthought heel so I guess I can cut off the blue yarn where heel is and continue in the design part and finish to and then take blue yarn I cut and do the heel. I have a big foot size 42 but like a shorter rib at top so i guess i would have to cut some yarn off. Him I'll see if my yarn shop has this yarn. Thx for video! I am learning to do an afterthought thumb on mittens...lol..

I am a new knitter here in Fla. USA. I might buy a skein for a friend at work that has never knit socks, but is very experienced knitter. Don’t know if I am ready for socks yet. Any thoughts on me starting this at my point? Judy

Hi please can someone tell me what size needles to use? And could this be knitted using short (9”) circular needle, as opposed to dpns? Would really appreciate the advice :)

My grandson is in the Marines, i just ordeted a solid color as close to the military drab. What do you suggest for a color. It has to be 75/25. Thank you.

I just bought (online) 2 identical balls of Pairfect for kids. At the time I didn’t realize it’s for cuff down, and also didn’t realize it is the “for kids”. I have small feet, size 37 shoe, 9 inch long foot, 8-1/2 inch circumference. Will this kids yarn work for my size feet?

I love this idea, fabulous yarn but I would like the socks longer from the cuff to the ankle

I have small feet. I take a size 35/37 shoe. Would I still have to wait to do the toe when I reach the blue. Also I have fat calves. What would you recommend so that the sock is not to loose or too tight.
