  • Samantha shares stories from her performances in ‘The Serpent Queen’, ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘The Whale’ in this interview on her acting career. She recounts the first time a teacher introduced her to acting and drama, working with Stephen Spielberg and Tom Cruise on ‘Minority Report’, and the struggle to get roles after having a stroke. I love Samantha Morton so much. She's so underrated yet her career is such a strong one. She's had an incredible 2022 indeed: she's in TWD, The Serpent Queen, Save the Cinema!, The Whale, and She Said. I hope she capitalize on the diversity of her roles to an overdue third Oscar nomination!

Brilliant conversation! I briefly knew Samantha from Nottingham and she is a real role model in terms of an actor working on their craft.
Having spent time on the Screen & New Media Committee at Equity (UK) I thought Sam's comments were a bit harsh as, unfortunately, a long time ago a woman named Margaret Thatcher broke up the unions, so Equity is lawfully unable to be the closed shop that SAG-AFTRA is, and thus, unable to work in the same way.
Nevertheless, it's great to hear Samantha's Career Retrospective and her parting words of wisdom. She tells it like it is. It's also nice to hear those Nottinghamian vowel sounds on a SAG-AFTRA Foundation talk!
