I think its funny that Lois didn't bother covering up before opening the door to the shower. Lol and clark staring for a solid 3 seconds before looking at her eyes lmao 😂
@@mandyrobbins2160 Yeah, it's most likely that she was too focused because she thought she was in danger, or maybe she did it to throw the intruder off for a moment, but she's not an exhibitionist in any way.
For me one of my favorite references in this episode was the Riddler reference who John Glover voices. The guest star did a great job. One of my favorite scenes was between Martha and Lois about their choice in men. Clark turning down the gifts definitely shows that he has JK values. The jump/run over the car was so well done. Lex definitely needs better security. I did enjoy the throwbacks to previous episodes. We are getting close to the finale. Happy Thanksgiving!!
This episode really wasn’t THAT bad. I get the criticisms and some of it is valid but I don’t think it deserves quite the negativity that Michael gives it. Yeah, there were certain aspects that were forgettable, but the redeemable qualities make up for it in my opinion. Not every good scene or episode has to be bombastic and memorable to be still a good scene or episode. Like the Lois and Martha heart to heart scene, I always enjoy those moments between Lois and Martha and that one was one of my favourites and nice foreshadowing to the eventual Clois relationship. I also always liked the scene with Chloe and Lois saving Clark, and the party scene was pretty funny. I agree about Lois dating Graham having literally only just met him was sketchy. Liz made an excellent point about the theme of the episode being Clark’s moral quandary into saving everyone even though some of those people could go on to do bad things. He wasn’t to know that about Graham when he saved him at the beginning of the episode, but it was a very Clark/Superman thing to do to continue saving Lex’s life despite no longer seeing him as a friend or someone he trusts.
@@blackdogbrown one is that Tom and Erica had a fling when filming and so now they (podcast team) avoid talking about their chemistry on camera. I dont understand why none of the fan questions or patrons ask why CLOIS scenes are totally dismissed.
Happy Thanksgiving, Talk Ville family! I love when Michael just breaks into random songs or accents. It makes the duller Smallville episodes more fun and the Talk Ville episodes even better.
@littlew0men I wish I could get advice from Martha lol. . she's so intuitive and perceptive lol and never throws a mistake back in your face ❤️ and I love how she is a powerful guidance for Clark/Lois independently and later as a couple
@@asyouwish3636 She's so good! Martha just makes you feel better when you listen to her. I LOVE the relationship building moments with Martha and Lois. Martha takes Lois under her wing, and Lois in turn really looks up to Martha. Its one of those moments when you can see the softer side of Lois, the insecure side that isn't putting up a tough front all the time. (I really like their deleted scene from this episode too). Lois usually doesn't act like she needs much from people, but in the scenes with Martha, you can really see how she could use motherly moments, which Martha gives her. I think Martha also feels a connection to Lois. And, yes, Martha offers great guidance to both Lois and Clark individually and later as a couple!
wait, Lex did the EXACT SAME THING when Clark saves him in the pilot! he buys him a truck (worth more than a TV/gaming system). I also noticed the parallel here: adult-Clark returns the gift just as Jonathan did for teen-Clark
Its interesting that Tom talks about how they took the steps to ensure that for the scenes that were shot with "Invisible Graham," were done to have everyone react to the same target. This was a weekly television show and in a blockbuster movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" they couldn't get the same result. In the scene where Oliver takes Harry down to the Quidditch pitch to introduce him to the rules, when he releases the Golden Snitch, Harry and Oliver are both supposed to be watching it fly around but each actor is looking in a completely different direction. That kind of stuff sort of takes you out of the movie. Its amazing that the Smallville show runners were that dedicated to making their show more technical and believable.
@@asyouwish3636Clark shouldn't be surprised by that. 😂 He should be surprised that the writers keep making him hung up on Lana all the time, even after her storyline should have been over.
@@44excaliburthat’s the thing the writers won’t let Clark’s over Lana feels go🙂↔️🤦🏻 (when suppose too from S4) when should finally with Lois suspense is killing while Lana’s presence becomes a disrupting🤷🏻♂️
I think it's asking a lot of a show to have 217 unique episodes. There is bound to be some sameness in some of them. Accept the average ones and enjoy the good ones.
Looks like another Freak of the week but still I liked the episode especially because of Lois. She always lifts the episode and makes it lighter. Finally, Clark knows about Lana and Lex, it is really sad that Clark is always there to protect her but he can't tell her without telling her about his powers. I will give this episode 🌹 and a half roses.
Damn, the patron summed up exactly what I wanted to say. The episode wasn’t really about the Chameleon; it was about Clark’s dilemma. Clark has the power to change destiny, and every choice he makes affects people on a grand scale for good or bad. For example, when he saved that hitman, he altered the destinies of those around him-like when the hitman later killed the witness. By the end of the episode, Clark is grappling with this dilemma and asks Martha for guidance. Martha responds beautifully, saying you can’t worry about who you save, just as a doctor or fireman doesn’t worry whether the person they rescue will go on to commit a crime. That was the core lesson of the episode. Secondly, I can’t believe people missed the bubble head reference when Tom Welling mentioned George Clooney. Clooney is known for his ‘bubble head’ and got a lot of stick for it in Batman and Robin. Clark’s reaction when Lois opened the door with no clothes on-how he just stood there like a deer in headlights staring, lol, if it was anyone else I would be saying Clark would be having a good time alone t0night - but he's Clark. That’s typical Lois, though-opening the door without a stitch on to throw off an intruder with her nakedness, then kicking the hell out of them while they are busy starring, lol - if it wasn't Clark but anyone else they would be on the floor. That just a Lois thing to do.
12:43 adding on to what Tom was saying, I'm surprised Lex never found out Clark's secret early on with all the times HE just walked in past "security" 😂
9:20 Michael remembering to kiss Kristen was the least expected! He always asks Tom to remember these scenes! The poor guy always tries to answer, but probably doesn't remember! For him as an actor it must not have been relevant! It's cool that it was something that marked Michael, I'm not an actress, but it must be interesting to have these points reached if it wasn't something common in the roles he played!
It seems to be more about the fact that Tom is married and Michael is not… Michael (I guess) is more free (or whatever) to reminisce. Whereas for Tom, out of respect for both his wife and former co-star, he pretty obviously doesn’t want to be like “ooh, yeah I remember kissing Kristin and ooh it was so great.” He’s more of a gentleman in that sense. He keeps his commentary professional.
Michael has always had a crush on Kristin Kreuk, always comments on his kissing scenes with Kristin ; bet if Kristin would I've giving him a chance to date, he would have fallen hard on her.
I've only watched Smallville once before about 10 years ago and I can't remember much about the show. Watching it again because of Talkville and I'm enjoying it so much more because of listening to Michael and Tom (and Ryan) talk about it after the episode. Thank you guys 👏
@alanliddle4084 So you're watching with them. Got it. I was hoping you were going ahead. Lol. But that's fine. While you're rewatching after so many years, are you remembering any of it as well? Or does it feel like you're watching for the first time because it's been so long?
@blackdogbrown a lot of it feels totally fresh but I do remember the JL episodes and I didn't think Lana was in it as long. I was expecting Kara to show up this season but clearly not. Brainiac is barely present as a Big Bad.
@alanliddle4084 Unfortunately, Lana's around until the end of season 7. *Sigh* 😮💨 Justice is in my top 5 favorite episodes of the entire series. I can't wait for the guys to get to that episode in season 6. (Love season 6. Great stuff ahead). You'll see more of Brainiac soon, and as for Kara, she doesn't show up until season 7.
23:30 Love that you have the gift of seeing people for who they are based on how they treat others Michael, and that no matter what inflated perception others might have of them, you still have the integrity to tell it like it is when they're a garbage pile of a human being who isn't actually interested in treating anyone with respect. YOU, are awesome.
Fantastic podcast episode, guys ...so many laughs in this one, I loved it. Thank you! ❤ Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. Talk Ville and Smallville have been a blessing this year to me. This episode wasn't the best, but I liked certain moments here and there: the Clark and Lois scenes, the scene between Martha and Lois, the scene when Clark witnesses Lexana kissing was well acted, and the barn loft moment at the end when Clark is disassembling his telescope was so symbolic and well done. I really appreciated everything you guys mentioned during this episode - Tom, you are such a nice presence on the podcast, it just warms my heart. Tom, I agree - yes, the Lana pining goes on, but Clark is rightfully worried for Lana and wants to keep her safe (even if he can't be with her romantically.) Chloe is right that Clark can't do anything about it, Lana is a big girl and can make her own choices, and she'll have to learn from her own mistakes too. However - Lana, you've been warned. Just saying.
Unpopular opinion--I liked Lex and Lana together! I wish it had ended differently and Lex hadn't ended up so terrible to her. But I know that was his character development they needed.
Well, I would argue that Clark is worried about Lana dating Lex because he cares about her and Lex has shown himself not to always be the best person. Even discounting that Lana is the very recent ex-girlfriend of his former best friend. And she’s quite a bit younger, less worldly, and in a lot of pain and confusion.

I saved someone once. I mean who knows what would have happened for sure. I was around 11 and this kid got out of juvenile detention who was a little older than me. He put a knife to my friends throat. He was in detention because he did hurt people so there was a valid threat here. There was a dog running around that got close and and distracted him. I charged the kid and managed to bat the knife out of his hand. We fought and i beat the living crap out of him. Something that haunts me today. Im not proud of it. It completely changed me. Neighborhood parents thought i was the problem and made it very uncomfortable for me. I didn't get into any trouble for any of it because it was all determined to be "justifiable" regardless of what they thought. I was horrifically bullied around that time. It just made worse things worse. I was getting beat up frequently myself. So not only was i getting picked on and beaten up by the kids, but the parents were all on the bullies side now and apparently "i deserved it". A few months later that same kid was chasing his own mother down the street trying to stab her. A bunch of people saw. The police had to storm the area to stop the kid from killing his mother. So.. yeah. Probably did save my friend.
You discuss Lex's security here. What security? The only time a security guard working for Lex is ever seen on this show is when he is attacked and almost killed, and he is telling them they failed after the fact. You could've paid a few of Clark's classmates from high school a tenth of what you pay your professional security, and you would've been much safer. I've recruited employees for businesses in the past, and the best recruits I've ever scouted for businesses I was helping were the ones no one else would even consider. Michael is a creative man. Talkville is Michael Rosenbaum's midlife crisis. He's monetizing it and leaving it as a testament to his greatest days. Although, he's hosted some pretty great parties since his Smallville days.
Happy Thankville ❤ Hope the whole Talk Ville team has a lovely Thanksgiving ❤ So thankful for this amazing podcast I love and adore ❤ Thank you for creating it ❤ So thankful for the whole Talk Ville team ❤ Thank you Michael, Tom, Ryan, Bryce and Jason for all you do ❤ Happy Talk Ville Wednesday ❤

I've always figured Lex's security were either conveniently taking a bathroom break or leave one entrance unguarded all the time. "Insta-Graham" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
To do list: 1. Learn more about Rosenbaum's apparent hatred for Seinfeld bc that is fascinating 2. Stop being a broke artist so I can be a top tier patron and be on an ep of Talkville 3: They made me picture that shower scene with Clark so now I'm forced to imagine it bc...they said it first! and 4: Have a snack Thank you guys for all your hard work and for the wonderful pod. Even if you're not a fan of some ep's Rosie, it's like this pod is a cozy way to spend time with the familiar faces I grew up watching and your guys' reactions and comments are just hilarious and true gem's. So tysm!
40:30 My maternal grandmother had a very atypical way of being! My younger brother is shy. Once in front of the whole family, which is quite large, she asked if he was gay. He denied it and we asked where she got the idea. She said it was because she had never seen him with a woman. We had to explain that this didn't mean he hadn't had dates. And that he would be gay if he had relationships with men and was only interested in that gender. She was super interested in the explanations and didn't realize that she had embarrassed my brother!
🌹(1.75) Great VFX 👏loved the themes of right/wrong, such an interesting philosophical concept presented in this ep! just as a doctor wouldn't withhold treatment dependant on the patient, Superman saves lives no matter who it is. Clark is so steeped in the self-blame hero-trope and it's important that he at least asks himself those questions but of course he understands he saves 1st asks questions after. surprised that he heard it coming from Chloe. felt more of a Martha moment. ugh, I am not looking forward to the next 20 eps! the Lex/Lana is even more gross on re-watch 😬 S6 is just gonna be BRUTAL lol shame on Lana for needing to have Lex remind her that Clark deserves the respect of her telling him and not sneaking around his back. and for not knowing that by sneaking, it also disrespects her and Lex and their own relationship 🤦♀️ this little girl has suffered one major loss after another w out a break, how has no one suggested therapy! not even after she got addicted to dying? and now she's blindly trusting Lex (im sure out of spite) and refuses to hear any warnings about him 🤦♀️ I love what a dork Clark is 🤣 the look on his face when some random girl kisses him and then again when he realizes she's a "present" omfg priceless expressions! not for nothing, but Tom's performance keeps getting better each season (and keeps going), this whole year we really see the range and subtlety and depth 👏 Brilliant banter chemistry between Lois and Clark, never gets old! I love that moment between Lois and Martha in the kitchen, and perfect parallel between what Clark will later feel that he also may not notice his soul mate ❤️🤗 Gut punch having to see Lana/Lex makeout, worse having to hear her say it was Lex who saved her life 💔 and just a gut wrenching conversation on the loft 💔💔💔
interesting they noticed the Lois subplot felt rushed, I wondered if more was filmed but just edited down for time way too much cuz it did seem like there was more to it 🤷♀️
What the hell was Clark expecting in that final scene, lol? Chloe told him again and again that he lost any right to warn Lana about her love life after the way he broke her heart, but Clark had to do it. Only to get shut down by Lana, again. Because this show loves nothing more than Lana telling Clark off. And it's also a shame because at the start of that loft scene Clark actually behaved very maturely and I hoped he would act like the bigger person...
Clark had to do it! shame on him for putting Chloe in the position in the middle of his relationship w Lana (cuz I guess Lana/Chloe are such great friends now, whatever lol) but not for nothing but Chloe is always in the middle of his relationships and she chooses NOW to take a stand? 🤦♀️ I mean she did the right thing by standing up for herself but she should have told Clark if not for anything other than she knows how dangerous Lex is and she knows how fragile Lana's mental health is. but again, all this drama is lazy writing to create plot induced conflict SMH
@@asyouwish3636 Clark broke up with her 4 episodes ago. He tells her he wants her to be happy 3 episodes ago. And now he says "Oh wait! Not with Lex though!". It's messed up and of course Lana will lash back at him. Trust me, I hate the Lexana stuff and Lana was clearly going for a rebound, but Clark is not the one to warn her who Lex is. He lost that right. And lets be honest here, Lana knows who Lex is. She knows him for 5 years. She's willingly going into that relationship as an adult.
@Costas22 i mean you're not wrong but I don't think Clark was wrong in trying to warn her but he's also not the only one to warn her. everyone who knows both Lana and Lex have warned her (im assuming they both have mutual friends off camera and those also would warn her) Lana clearly wants to be on the destructive path she's on (not judging -shockingly for me lol) like who hasn't had an epic love story crash and burn and decided to follow up w a tragic/toxic relationship lol right? I mean Lana is gonna do what she's gonna do, that's her M.O. to hell w the consequences. I think Clark, yes of course doesn't want to see them together, but (ignoring the frustration of the forced conflicts) this situation is ever so much more tragic since it's of his own making (not hero-blaming here of course, you kno I don't play that game lol). but #1 if he had told Lana the truth they wouldn't have broken up this way (still would have broken up, but that's another conversation lol) she wouldn't have so easily turned to Lex nor be so easily manipulated by him #2 even after their inevitable break up, Lana wouldn't have rebounded w Lex cuz she would have known all along about him. i mean she already knows alot of shit and is choosing denial, but most of the stuff she DOESN'T know is tied to Clark's secret. so now she has allowed herself plausible deniability, so to speak, cuz most of the stuff she DOES know is also tied to Clark which now that source of information has been burned. i get the melodrama the writers were going for and on a soap opera it would be brilliant lol but this whole thing is just crazy 😂
@@asyouwish3636 At that point in the series the damage was done in regards to Clana. I just wanted them to protect Clark's character more. He doesn't want to tell the secret? Fine. Just have him move on though. And this scene frustrates me incredibly because it starts with Clark putting the telescope away and playing it relaxed when Lana starts telling him about Lex. THAT'S how he should be acting. And then he pulls an 180 and starts the "Lana, please" crap again. Regardless of who Lana is and what she does, Clark just can't get a win in this relationship at any point.
@Costas22 sigh. . so true, Clark was really painted into a corner this season (writing-wise) but i think at the end of the day he never would have forgiven himself if he didn't at least try to speak up. like as mentally unstable as Lana can be, she did choose to be w a literal psychopath in training lol . . .so Clark had to try

Its because they ignore all the character building scenes. CLARK/LOIS scenes specifically are 100% glanced over
@Agh576 That really bugs me. I wonder *WHY* they glance over Clois. Like wth?! Not cool, guys. 😒
@ there are some theories but I’m not sure. It’s very weird..
@@Agh576 Like?
@@blackdogbrown one is that Tom and Erica had a fling when filming and so now they (podcast team) avoid talking about their chemistry on camera. I dont understand why none of the fan questions or patrons ask why CLOIS scenes are totally dismissed.
I want to thank Kristin Kreuk's parents for making her.
I feel the same about Erica's parents.
Happy Thanksgiving, Talk Ville family! I love when Michael just breaks into random songs or accents. It makes the duller Smallville episodes more fun and the Talk Ville episodes even better.
Same to you!
I am thankful for this show!

@@missgovna1091 Hahahaha 😂! Yes - love it!!
i always love martha and lois' scenes and how she's like a mother to her ❤ and clark and lois were hilarious as always!
Agree!
@littlew0men I wish I could get advice from Martha lol. . she's so intuitive and perceptive lol and never throws a mistake back in your face ❤️ and I love how she is a powerful guidance for Clark/Lois independently and later as a couple
@@asyouwish3636 i agree and oh me too! she creates such a safe space for everyone at the kent farm i so wish i could spend even an afternoon there 🥹
@@asyouwish3636 She's so good!
@@lilacmist04 i just looked the deleted scene up and it's so cute i wish they kept it. "if i had a daughter i'd want her to be just like you" 🥺
wait, Lex did the EXACT SAME THING when Clark saves him in the pilot! he buys him a truck (worth more than a TV/gaming system).
Another fantastic episode where Clark and Lois continue their tradition of constantly walking in on each other while they're naked. 😂
@@44excalibur and yet next year Clark will be surprised that he's so attracted to her! 🤣
@@asyouwish3636Clark shouldn't be surprised by that. 😂 He should be surprised that the writers keep making him hung up on Lana all the time, even after her storyline should have been over.

Shimmer, the boy made a lotion from kryptonite green roses.

same same but different
I think it's asking a lot of a show to have 217 unique episodes. There is bound to be some sameness in some of them. Accept the average ones and enjoy the good ones.
The last 2 episodes about to be great and then we get the amazing season 6 that introduces Justin Hartley green arrow ❤️
I'm so happy her husband's favorite character is Lionel! Mine is too, purely because of how complex he is!
hard to disagree
@TalkVillePodcast Wow, thanks for the reply!!! ♥️
I wish yaw would let Tom talk more
And Ryan talked a lot less or not at all again.
@@GregoryDixon-m8k he has nothing to add in any episode…
Michael has always had the biggest crush on Kristin like the rest of us ❤
I liked the scene where Lex and Clark saved Lana
23:32
"He's a miserable bastard, though."
The scream that I scrumpt. 😂
Well, this time she's not whispering in his ear like in Nicodemus.
28:55 Micheal is no Chris Cornell!
Can we get a sequel? Not only is Tom Welling the best superman but michael Rosenbaum is BY FAR the best Lex Luther.
I've only watched Smallville once before about 10 years ago and I can't remember much about the show. Watching it again because of Talkville and I'm enjoying it so much more because of listening to Michael and Tom (and Ryan) talk about it after the episode. Thank you guys 👏
So are you watching with them or you watching at your own pace?
@blackdogbrown I'm watching the episode and then watching Talkville.
Thank you to everyone that keeps making this show possible. Smallville and talkville is the best
You could present this piano scene with the participation of a stuntman on some Smallville Night!
33:33 well I think Remy Zero has the answer leave it to the title card to answer why he is always trying to save others.
47:48😂 Tom love ya brother 🤘
Good episode, underrated. Its like lex replacement, a rich guy who tries to befriend clark who is immoral. 1.3 roses

We need a karaoke night on the Cruise! Michael was belting some classics on this episode. #BlackHoleRedSun. 👏🏾

I would have reacted the exact same way as Clark @ 15:31? My lord. That's real Kryptonite right there.
11:32 this is my favorite theory on Talkville EVER lmao, thank you Ryan! 🤣
Happy thankville 🎉
"Moral Quandary" 🔥 👕 works!
It's not about morals for him, it's about a debt owed

Well now this is a fan I can appreciate. Red Son is an excellent story and yes, Tom, give it a look. She’s right in saying it’s compelling.
35:12. For your consideration. Get this man an Oscar immediately!
🌹(1.75) Great VFX 👏loved the themes of right/wrong, such an interesting philosophical concept presented in this ep! just as a doctor wouldn't withhold treatment dependant on the patient, Superman saves lives no matter who it is. Clark is so steeped in the self-blame hero-trope and it's important that he at least asks himself those questions but of course he understands he saves 1st asks questions after. surprised that he heard it coming from Chloe. felt more of a Martha moment.
ugh, I am not looking forward to the next 20 eps! the Lex/Lana is even more gross on re-watch 😬 S6 is just gonna be BRUTAL lol shame on Lana for needing to have Lex remind her that Clark deserves the respect of her telling him and not sneaking around his back. and for not knowing that by sneaking, it also disrespects her and Lex and their own relationship 🤦♀️ this little girl has suffered one major loss after another w out a break, how has no one suggested therapy! not even after she got addicted to dying? and now she's blindly trusting Lex (im sure out of spite) and refuses to hear any warnings about him 🤦♀️
I love what a dork Clark is 🤣 the look on his face when some random girl kisses him and then again when he realizes she's a "present" omfg priceless expressions! not for nothing, but Tom's performance keeps getting better each season (and keeps going), this whole year we really see the range and subtlety and depth 👏
Brilliant banter chemistry between Lois and Clark, never gets old!
I love that moment between Lois and Martha in the kitchen, and perfect parallel between what Clark will later feel that he also may not notice his soul mate ❤️🤗
Gut punch having to see Lana/Lex makeout, worse having to hear her say it was Lex who saved her life 💔 and just a gut wrenching conversation on the loft 💔💔💔
interesting they noticed the Lois subplot felt rushed, I wondered if more was filmed but just edited down for time way too much cuz it did seem like there was more to it 🤷♀️
What the hell was Clark expecting in that final scene, lol?
