Ah man, you really are the best Who TH-camr. Personally, I always hope for more Hartnell animations. I would love to see Marco Polo to complete the S1 experience. But other than that, Evil of the Daleks is an obvious contender!
We know for sure The Web of Fear Episode 3 exists because it was nicked on route to the BBC. So I very much doubt they'd animate it, and that's also probably why the telesnap reconstruction on the DVD was so shambolic, they wanted to get it out fast and didn't want to spent time or money on making it look good.
Plus the entire Galaxy 4 story is an extra on The Aztecs Special Edition DVD - with the existing episode plus telesnaps. For all the talk about sound quality, it wasn‘t that bad. It will certainly do for us completists.
I'm fine with it, but I can't help thinking if they only animated the 4 episodes of The Faceless Ones, and used the other 2 animation slots to animate a story with 2 missing episodes, that would be two stories for the price of 6 animated episodes
Not really how it works. Building assets such as character designs, sets etc is a huge chunk of the work. It’s easier to construct two episodes of the same serials becAuse the majority of the assets are there already. With two random episodes, that’s starting from scratch.
Why don't they keep everything from the missing stories instead of changing or removing stuff? If they didn't do that then I'd be fine with them, though the colour versions are just unnecessary only casual viewers or fans want that, and why not put the episodes that have already be found in it and include the telesnap versions of the episodes as well which don't have anything removed or changes in them for actual fans who want the closest things to the original versions that they can get, also why not have the classic story DVD covers for the collection and why have the crap logo that no one likes, even when the logos changed before they kept the same logo for big finish and all of classic who related stuff, the BBC are just cheap and lazy and don't give two craps for what the fans want
The stories I would like to see animated are: The Savages The Smugglers The Highlanders The Evil of The Daleks The Abominable Snowman The Wheel in Space & The Space Pirates
The fact that we may never get Daleks Master Plan and The Massacre, my favourite Hartnell stories are unlikely to be animated makes me very sad indeed. 😥
If they where to do Mission to the Unknown I can see them sticking it with The Dalek's Masterplan as the pre cursor to the lare 12 episodes. As If I recall the old Target novel of Mission to the Unknown has a subtitle saying "Dalek Masterplan Part 1".
There is actually another set of audios that covers just about every missing episode. It was used to patch up Reign of Terror for DVD, but the audio quality was unknown for a long time. The person that recorded it used a custom tape deck, and playback needed a tape head that could be adjusted for each episode. Mark Ayres recently modified the right model deck and it sounds like exciting things will come of the collection, especially for all the episodes outside the Strong/Randolph sets.
Fantastic detailed analysis. Thanks for all of your work. As to which should be animated next, I don't care as long as they keep making them. Hopefully we will get them all in the end
Evil of the Daleks would be my pick. Introduces Victoria and features the 'end' of the Daleks. Buuut in an ideal world I'd love an original animated project. It'd be pricier thanks to needing a whole cast of actors and writers, but I feel it'd be worth it. Plus Doctor Who really being able to do anything thanks to animation I feel could be a sight to behold.
@@RiainRamblez that's my issue with animating Big Finish. Many of the best stories would gain absolutely nothing from an animation, especially if it wasn't a good enough quality. I would much prefer an original adventure, but maybe a specially commissioned Big Finish script

A couple of years ago, my dad (who is an estate agent in North London) was selling the house of one of the set and prop designers of Dr Who in the 60s. He had passed away and the family wanted to sell the house. My dad said that the house was FULL of old Doctor Who props, sketches, and god knows what else. He even said there may have been old film reels hidden under the stacks of stuff. He tried to convince the family to allow a BBC archivist to come and go through the collection. Unfortunately they were so eager to get the house sold that they said no and all of the stuff was just emptied from the house. My dad doesn't know what happened to it. It makes me feel sick that so much important Doctor Who history was thrown away with such disregard - ESPECIALLY at the possibility of old film reels that may hold unseen footage.
Oh no, that's awful. It makes me feel really sad that this gentleman's greedy relatives had no respect for his past work or for his cherished possessions, which might have given so much pleasure to Doctor Who fans if they'd been preserved.
This comment scares me what if there would be an important episode in a story the Crusades, Marco Polo, the Dalek's master plan, the power of the Daleks, the evil of the Daleks, the invasion, i could go on forever
@@rulamnayrji4121 Hell, he could have stolen Marco Polo, Mission to the unknown, the power of the Daleks. F***! He could have stolen feast of Steven and the web of fear 3
Excellent work, Josh. Would love to see more Hartnell serials animated: In no particular order: The Savages, The Celestial Toymaker and The Smugglers. Troughton stories: Evil of the Daleks (Which may well be up next!) , The Highlanders, Fury From The Deep and The Space Pirates to complete season six. The Blue Peter/Tenth Planet story is a myth and has been debunked. In 1973, Blue Peter borrowed a telerecording of Tenth Planet 4 - the original videotape was wiped in late 1969. It is assumed it was borrowed from the BBC Film Library and when an audit was taken in 1977 only the first three episodes could be traced. In fact, Blue Peter borrowed the print from BBC Enterprises and in 1974 Enterprises were offering the full 4 episode story for sale overseas. If Blue Peter had lost episode 4 in 1973 it couldn't be offered for sale a year later.
I'd like to see them all animated eventually, although that may never happen. In any case, I have a personal list of priority: 1: _The Celestial Toymaker._ While Loose Cannon and others do a good job of telesnap reconstructions etc, they just cannot do this story justice. It relies so heavily on visuals that almost the whole plot is completely lost on the viewer. Crying out for animation, in my opinion. 2: _The Daleks Masterplan._ An absolute epic that would be made even better. It's already great to watch even with 9 reconstructed episodes, and animation would take it to an even higher level of brilliance. 3: Any serial involving companion introductions/departures. Those who have seen them know which serials I refer to, but I won't name them here for the benefit of those who may not have seen them yet. Spoilers and all that! Just my personal preferences and, of course, others may disagree.
You're spot on, Josh! And I will never understand why some people hate the animations. But fine, if you don't like them, at least stop complaining and let those of us who love them enjoy them. If you don't like something, simply don't consume it. Don't condemn it just because you don't like or want it! Hello, common sense. Thanks for making another amazing video, Josh!
Most of these missing episodes were released on CD many years ago and if you're lucky enough to find them you can judge the sound quality of each one for yourself.
I would love to see The Savages, The Massacre, Fury and The Space Pirates animated. I do hope that Tenth Planet 4 gets returned as it would be utterly magical to see that final scene in full.
@@chriszone50 And I would like to know how on earth you could call the likes of the Massacre and Fury from the Deep, which are among the best the series have ever produced, crappy
@@Yetaxa They are far from the best, that is just your opinion. They don't even make it into Patrick Troughton's top 5 stories, let alone the top 30 of the entire series.
@@Jasonk123 Sadly Not The Team Behind The Recent Animations Have Already Confirmed That The Highlanders Isn't Getting Animated Period,The Only Way The Highlanders Gets A Dvd Release Is If It Gets Returned From a Private Collection Or Gets Discovered By Philip Morris Who Found Enemy Of The World And The Web Of Fear!
It’s sad that we won’t get The Daleks Master Plan Episode 7 because it wasn’t shipped out as it was a Christmas episode. Once the master copy was junked, there was no chance of getting it back
I would absolutely love to see "The Massacre" given the proper treatment it deserves. A forgotten gem with a very thought-provoking story based on a real period of history that more people need to know about.
Thanks Josh for another very animated video. The one missing episode that is pretty much certain that exists is 'Web of Fear' pt 3 according to Philip Morris.
Definitely The Dalek's Masterplan and The Savages! I love those two. And of course Evil of the Daleks would be great too. The Massacre would be fun so we can see Hartnell doing another character, and the remaining missing episode of The Web of Fear would be a must when it goes to bluray. The Space Pirates gets a bad rap with the fanbase, but it is still a grand space adventure, so would probably play well in animation.
1. DALEKS MASTER PLAN ANIMATION! IT MUST BE DONE 2. I think the episode we're most likely to find is web of fear 3 considering that it was found but not returned but I do hope that tenth planet 4 is found
I'd likt to think a Timelord went back to the 60s to collect these episode knowing thet woukd go missing one day... Which in turn would be why they went missing. 😄
With Fury From the Deep being animated I can see Evil of the Daleks being animated next as it will be a big money seller which could leave the door open to the Daleks Master Plan (This is wishful thinking I know). But I can also see Wheel in Space happening for obvious reasons. Although come on, who wouldn’t be happy with any story being animated?
Great video, Josh. Out of all the missing episodes, I'd say I'd like to see Marco Polo, The Abominable Snowman and Evil of the Daleks animated. While with the last two it's due to the villains and especially to see how the Daleks' intended end was carried out, the first is because it was pretty important in developing the First Doctor's character, the costumes and set designs and even how the story took place over a good stretch of time which helped the First and his group's bonding, that's quite a first considering later stories with that element.
The Abominable Snowman would make for a fantastic animation. It's a brilliant story and has one full episode as an extra. The audio quality is also top notch. Along with Web of Fear it's one of my all time favourites.
I would love to see Marco Polo animated. I don't actually think it would be that hard, as a lot of the story takes place during the caravan journey along the Silk Road to the palace of Kublai Khan and there's only about two episodes worth of indoor scenes. Plus, just imagine those costumes in colour? I think The Savages, The Highlanders and The Wheel In Space are important to animate because of Steven, Zoe and Jamie. Why can't one of those billionaires that the U.S. is always bragging they have so many of just give BBC America a couple of million to get all these episodes animated? Then I'd finally get to see episodes I've never seen!
I'm excited for any new animations on the way, especially if they take some creative liberties. Sure its not how it was originally broadcast, but having some standout differences will essentially future-proof these animations as something worthy of coming back to, should the original versions ever resurface.
Great video! i love talking about missing episodes :). So ponder this: What if BBC did the Wheel In Space 'teaser' in order to gage a reaction? If the reaction is good (which i THINK it was well received) they now can use this after a 'risky' release. I see The Faceless Ones and Macra Terror both as 'risky' since neither have the obvious iconic elements such as Daleks or Cybermen - so they could keep doing risky ones until one doesn't perform as well, then they can bring out a Cybermen story to liven up interest again. So take some release logic and mix it with all the good information in your videos and i think post Faceless Ones you can gage some likely nexts: Evil of the Daleks would be a crowd pleaser and they may be ready after the Faceless Ones to do that - but if they want to push the envelope and do another non-iconic episode, Fury From the Deep or The Savages would be the obvious candidates in my estimation. Then at any point there is a lull throw in, we would finally get: Wheel In Space.
While not actually a lost story there was a radio play during Colin Baker's run as the Doctor called 'Slipback' which would be an interesting experiment to have it extended and animated into a full DVD (effectively re-canonising the story maybe or something like that)
I hoping for animation to either Web of Fear or Underwater Menace because I think reconstructions are incredibly shoddy, and hard to view so if they did an animation of Web of Fear Part Three it would be much easier to watch. Or if they finally found part three.
If we're going to be utilitarian about this, then the next story should feature the companion with the most missing episodes to give them more fan exposure. So I crunched some numbers and this is what I got: Jamie has the most missing episodes at 47, however, Jamie was in 115 episodes which is more than some Doctors so this number is a bit skewed, we should probably be going by ratios instead. Ben and Polly have the highest percentage missing at 66% (25/38) But most of their missing episodes (13) have been animated so that lowers their percentage to just 32% That leaves Steven. He has 27 of his 46 episodes missing (59%) and none of them has been animated. I don't particularly care which one but the Savages seems like a safe bet. (I'd like to the Myth Makers but I doubt that's going to happen.) If you're curious, not counting animated episodes as missing, Steven is followed by Victoria (44%) then Dodo (42%) and Jamie (34%) Ian and Barbara come out of this the best, with only 12% of their episodes missing. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. -This, of course, is negating Sara and Katarina who are sitting on 80% and 67% respectively-
@@codyw1 Yeah, it's just, personally, I don't even see the need to add a black and white version, when you can just turn the colour down on your TV. That's what Loose Cannon did, with their Marco Polo reconstruction.
@@Trev359 You'd rather have the BBC go through days worth of effort, that could be used on better writing for Series 12, or the next Animation or Season-set, just to get a black & white version on a separate disc, Just to spare you from spending 15 Seconds of moving your arm about, to change the color yourself? I'm sorry, but you not wanting to use a setting on your TV, because it will take up less than half a minute of your time, is probably one of the most first-world problems I've ever heard of.
I think it's a great way to animate lost Doctor Who episodes that have been lost for over 40 years or more, and also it gives a new audience of Doctor Who fans, to see what happened in the classic era, as well as in the modern era. I do understand that some stories may be harder than others to animate, and I personally think we won't see them all come every year, after year, after year, but I like to see many of them be animated and worth watchable. Evil Of The Daleks may sound like a good serial to animate and be a great one to watch I think.
For me? Animation is fine, especially since they’ve actually begun to improve considerably. They even went back and fixed Power of the Daleks’ rather shoddy animation. I would actually like to see more of the episodes with either no episodes currently known to exist OR those that have orphaned episodes for consistency of the viewing experience. These stories are... pretty much all of them.
I want them all animated I love all the animations. Reign of terror was rough during some scenes due to budget concerns. That being said I consume as much doctor who as I can on a daily basis. I love big finish productions and classic and new who!!!!
Evil of the Daleks is my favorite story. I hope it will be animated soon. After all it is the end of the Daleks (not) forever and as far as I remember it’s Troughton’s favorite story as well.
I’m very hopeful for Season 5. Since the Ice Warriors has been animated and Fury from the Deep is next, that means there are only 10 missing episodes without animation, though of course orphaned episodes will be included as animations. However the wheel in space seems very likely, and as said in this video, the abominable snowmen is very likely. So only web of fear remains. Well it’s only one episode for a special edition and also the missing episode is confirmed to exist.
Even though I do want _Marco Polo_ and _The Daleks' Master Plan_ to be animated, I fully respect the reasons as to why it'd be a tough challenge for Charles Norton and all involved to animate them both. Nevertheless, they are still my preferred Hartnell serials to receive the animation treatment, for when the time is right. On the Troughton serials, I would love _The Evil of the Daleks_ and _The Abominable Snowmen_ to come next. Wouldn't mind watching *all* their episodes animated, like what they're doing with _The Faceless Ones_ (also in black & white). And before I forget, let's hope that they'll reinstate The Beatles song _Paperback Writer_ in _Evil_ Episode 1!
Yeah I understand why we haven't gotten them yet, and why we may never get them, but my picks are easy. Marco Polo, The Crusade, and The Space Pirates. I just can't get past the fact that if they did these 3 stories, 3 whole seasons of 60's Who would be complete in some fashion at least. Also The Daleks Master Plan would be awesome!
Im very thankful for these animations especially as a Troughton fan since so much of his era is missing. Im hoping that Evil of the Daleks, Fury from the Deep and The Highlanders gets animated.
I've got my copy of Faceless Ones in the mail, Fury From the Deep is next. I'd vote for Dalek's Master Plan (just the missing eps), with the remake of Mission to the Unknown included.
In my opinion, they won't go for any of the harder stuff until much later down the line. Plus for the people who are moaning about them animating all the episodes in color, I believe they'll have the original episodes alongside the black and white episodes.
Given the condition of the rest of the episodes of The Enemy of The World and The Web of Fear when those were found, let's pray that no one tried to play Web 3 before cleaning the film.
Recently watched The Myth Makers and I very much disagree with the comment on how it has incredibly low quality audio as I heard it fine. Galaxy 4 on the other hand (TBH old LC recons from the 90s don’t sound as good and there was no update and I couldn’t watch the cutdown version)
They might be focusing on the Troughton episodes at this time because they already have the resources for the main characters and the Tardis so it’s economical to use these before making up one for Hartnell and his crew. There’s also the possibility that the budget can be adjusted for more costly ones, they’re just wanting to get the easy ones done first. As for the question, the ones I’d want are The Highlanders (Jaime’s introduction), Marco Polo (to see how well they do with an intricate story design wise), The Wheel in Space (I like Cybermen more than Daleks) and The Myth Makers (Katarina’s introduction and Vicki’s departure)
Dying for Evil of the Daleks. I’ve listened to the audio countless times and I think it might be my favourite classic story. The child Daleks are just awesome. I’d love for one of the child Daleks to turn up in new Who. Imagine the Doctor in a no win situation just for the Dalek to say “Friend?”
I almost jumped through the roof when they announced that The Faceless ones would be animated since it is one of my favourite DW stories, but i really hope they will do Evil of the Daleks after that. Love both stories separately, but they are so closely linked that it would be weird for me to wait more than one or two animations to do it Evil after Faceless. (my dream is that they have a teaser in the Faceless ones release, kinda like they had with the old DVD releases of classic stories, but i know it is a bit of a stretch) I agree with your assessment that important stories as a whole should be prioritised. I am therefore really hopeful that they will do The Savages and Highlanders since they feature companion arrivals and departures. Another great video that really that sparks my passion for missing stories and can´t wait for the next one!
My and my friends were discussing this Given the stories that have been found/ reconstructed/ animated/ et cetera, and given how fast The Faceless Ones announcement came off the heels of The Macra Terror, we theorize a season 4 blu-ray. But that's just us
I reckon one of the missing episodes that went "walkies" is Fury From The Deep Ep. 6. The film can was found but no episode was within it. I strongly believe that there are more episodes to come. I believe as well that Phil Morris has found more but will not announce them (quite rightly) until he has uncovered all potential leads - I will not be surprised also if he is waiting for the 60th Anniversary to make his announcement.
I have a theory that they're animating all the Troughton Sci-fi episodes in order, skipping over those that have already been reconstructed (e.g The Underwater Menace and The Moonbase). Based on this theory, I think that the following episodes will be animated in order: The Evil of the Daleks The Abominable Snowmen Fury From The Deep The Wheel in Space I'm not sure what they'll do after this, however. We'll just have to wait and see
We all need to buy the hell out of these videos to increase the chances of our seeing The Daleks' Master Plan (WITH its prequel "Mission to the Unknown!" I can dream too). I would also love to see Fury From The Deep (I agree that it is "begging to be animated"). It would also be cool to see "The Celestial Toymaker." Regarding episodes with poor audio quality: Does the technology not exist to clean these up to an acceptable level?
Ahhh Ahhhhh Ahhhhh new Josh Snares video... Fangasm. I seriously would go back to being depressed if it weren't for your and many other videos. Seriously, I'm learning to be a better person. Better with women/men/people. It's made me think, with my lack of sleep, from doing my own self improvement studying: You know Josh it's ironic. All these years I should've done my own regenerating. But I played it safe. Like missing DW episodes we all in life need to rediscover who we are as characters in our own scripts? Then our lives goes from black and white to color. Like worn out film we're digitally restored seeing ourselves better and improved (with better packaging too?). Life should be a full story we can enjoy and be proud of as individuals. Not someone full of missing episodes. Great video as always. You're a unique person. Never doubt that no matter how unfair or difficult life gets. Peace.

They also specifically stated that it was not Web of Fear 3, meaning that we have 3 confirmed missing episodes that survive, leaving 94 missing... The Surviving Episodes are: 1. If sound quality is a problem, can't digital enhancement or augmentation be used to help improve the quality when it's needed? I know this is an added expense, but I would think it would be an option if the will is there.
Do The Savages first; relatively easy, get a bit of practice in, and because I'd LOVE to see it animated; I read the novel when it came out, I've seen the Loose Cannon, and a great fan made restoration of episode 1 (!), it's superb, and it has Steven and the, in my opinion, underrated Dodo... Edit: underrated=much maligned. Then do Fury, then go Dalek-tastic and do Master Plan and Evil at the same time. This should/could save money on the production. Perhaps throw in Wheel, make a great Box set!
I agree that all signs point toward the intent to tackle Evil ASAP. Now that they have more general experience and resources available so can work more efficiently, they got someone willing to pay for at least six episodes again, they've had experience re-animating existing episodes, and they've carefully chopped away at the rest of the seemingly unlikely season four, yeah. They've been building to this project. As for what I'd want to see, I dunno, man. I'd have said Macra, not long ago, and Enemy of the World before that. As great as it would be to see some of the Wiles-era projects, somehow the introduction of young James McCrimmon stands out to me. I'd be really happy to see The Highlanders at this point.
Evil of the Daleks is a probable choice, for the reasons given in the audio. And I'm hoping for Galaxy 4 sometime in the future. I suspect that most of the missing stories will eventually be animated but we could be waiting ten years or more for Master Plan.
One hope of mine, to see the original footage, is Tenth Planet part four, because it's possibly my favourite Hartnell story and as good as the animation is, I can't hope but feel we've lost something. Throughout the first three parts there are little details that I think tie it together. Stuff like seeing the Cybermen's eyes or little character moments which isn't replicated in animation. Just something I thought about. I'd like the missing Web of Fear to be animated in the style the Tenth Planet animation, one episode animated in black and white made to resemble the other episodes. If it's budget we're worrying about, surely it would just be more cost effective to animate the single episode in B&W, especially if the audio is good quality as you say. I miss those DVD releases with the TARDIS background they worked so well for me.
I'm with you "Daleks' Masterplan," but I'm really looking to see "The Massacre" and "The Savages," as Steven Taylor is a character that really deserves to be relished by the public again. Peter Purves was terrific, and one of the few who could stand up and work well with Hartnell's Doctor. Thanks for doing these videos!
Great video, would definitely like to see Masterplan animated along with Galaxy 4 and the Savages (Hartnell’s my favourite Doctor and needs more animation). As for the Web of Fear I highly doubt that’ll be animated due to the fact we know the episode exists and could be returned one day. As for Space Pirates, Season 6 has been rumoured to be one of the next blu ray sets so it’ll be interesting to see if that is true and how’ll they’ll include that story in the set.
great video , i was under the impression that the episodes they decided to animate were ones that they deemed impossible to find, i hope the early animated episodes are reanimated in the future for the season box sets as some animation was extremely cheaply done
Evil of the Daleks must be after Fury from the Deep. It's my all-time favourite Dalek story, and I have a sad gap between Faceless Ones and Tomb of the Cybermen. "They're taking me for a ride! They're playing a Game! It's a game!"
Good job on this video. My top choices would be The Massacre and Fury From The Deep. I've seen reconstructions of the first on TH-cam, and thought it was pretty entertaining.
If we were ever to get Daleks' Master Plan, they'd probably either leave it to the end, a sort of magnum opus, or have to sacrifice quite a few other potential animations, as it's essentially double the Faceless Ones.
Each journey is just a series of steps. Through the years, all of these stories will be animated... EVENTUALLY!. It may take decades to complete, but it will happen.
Great well thought out video 😀 My choice would be a crowd pleasers like Evil of the Daleks, Wheel in Space or Abominable Snowmen. In an alternate reality? Marco Polo, Celestial Toymaker or Dalek Masterplan.
I believe eventually all the missing Episodes will be animated. I believe this because as Time Goes On animation becomes cheaper but also the amount of assets that the studio will have existing will be greater. For example Rob Ritchie already has assets for evil of the Daleks such as the emperor Dalek standard 60s model. They could also subsidize the cost by making the price of the physical release more expensive. For example I will be happy to pay twice the price for the Daleks master plan if it meant we got an animated reconstruction.

"Josh Snares is his own episode, and his face and audio are considered high quality."
Love these videos so much!
Evil of the Daleks is my highest pick, and I just want to see that Mission to the Unknown recreation come on guys release it onto TH-cam
The BBC saw this and said “ok fine we will”
The stories I would like to see animated are:
The Savages
The Smugglers
The Highlanders
The Evil of The Daleks
The Abominable Snowman
The Wheel in Space
& The Space Pirates
Ruairi Edwards yes to all of these
Andrew Mattocks glad you agree 👍🏻
Codyw1, as tempting as Fury is, I’d rather see it restored to its original condition like The Enemy of The World was.
Agree with all your choices Ruaridh
James Hope cheers 👍🏻
The fact that we may never get Daleks Master Plan and The Massacre, my favourite Hartnell stories are unlikely to be animated makes me very sad indeed. 😥
I wouldn't say they won't be. I think they'll do them, but they will be major endgame animations that will come at the end of the animated range.
@@TrentonBlessWrestlemania489 I always keep hope it's just a shame waiting so long!
I love it Josh Snares, I hope BBC hire you to become the new animation restoration for lost Doctor Who Episodes.

I'd love them to animate one of the Big Finish audio productions. Preferably with the 6th or 8th doctor.
@@stardustnation2480 oooo there you go, that'd be cool. Just have to make sure it's one of the dramas that isn't relying on the audio format
@@RiainRamblez that's my issue with animating Big Finish. Many of the best stories would gain absolutely nothing from an animation, especially if it wasn't a good enough quality. I would much prefer an original adventure, but maybe a specially commissioned Big Finish script

-Dimension Cannon
-The First Doctor Adventures Volume 1
-The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 1
Does your father still happen to have their names or address? Just for... research purposes. 😈😈😈

😂😂
In any case, I have a personal list of priority:
1: _The Celestial Toymaker._ While Loose Cannon and others do a good job of telesnap reconstructions etc, they just cannot do this story justice.
Thank you. This is very useful. Surprised no that it hasn't been done before, so well done on thinking of it!
I hope all the lost and incomplete stories are animated for dvd release and it will be good for people to see in billions of ways.
My favourite Josh Snares vid! It was my first one!
^
I would love to see The Savages, The Massacre, Fury and The Space Pirates animated. I do hope that Tenth Planet 4 gets returned as it would be utterly magical to see that final scene in full.

Once the master copy was junked, there was no chance of getting it back
Yep :(
I would absolutely love to see "The Massacre" given the proper treatment it deserves.
Thanks Josh, Love your content as usual.
1. DALEKS MASTER PLAN ANIMATION! IT MUST BE DONE
It’s actually being rumoured to be animated next along with Evil of the Daleks
@@JAProductions494 Heard the announcement on the radio this morning. Talk about coincidence. Magic. Very excited.
Can we just get finished DVDS for 'The underwater Menice' and 'The Web of fear'!!!
While not actually a lost story there was a radio play during Colin Baker's run as the Doctor called 'Slipback' which would be an interesting experiment to have it extended and animated into a full DVD (effectively re-canonising the story maybe or something like that)
Ya know when People say "in a perfect world all episodes will/are animated" I shake my head because in a perfect world no episodes would be missing
I hoping for animation to either Web of Fear or Underwater Menace because I think reconstructions are incredibly shoddy, and hard to view so if they did an animation of Web of Fear Part Three it would be much easier to watch. Or if they finally found part three.
The Myth Makers is one of my favorite stories, so I would definitely want to see it animated. Shame it probably won't happen though... :/
If we're going to be utilitarian about this, then the next story should feature the companion with the most missing episodes to give them more fan exposure. So I crunched some numbers and this is what I got:
Jamie has the most missing episodes at 47, however, Jamie was in 115 episodes which is more than some Doctors so this number is a bit skewed, we should probably be going by ratios instead.
Ben and Polly have the highest percentage missing at 66% (25/38) But most of their missing episodes (13) have been animated so that lowers their percentage to just 32%
That leaves Steven. He has 27 of his 46 episodes missing (59%) and none of them has been animated. I don't particularly care which one but the Savages seems like a safe bet. (I'd like to the Myth Makers but I doubt that's going to happen.)
If you're curious, not counting animated episodes as missing, Steven is followed by Victoria (44%) then Dodo (42%) and Jamie (34%)
Ian and Barbara come out of this the best, with only 12% of their episodes missing.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
-This, of course, is negating Sara and Katarina who are sitting on 80% and 67% respectively-
Why are people complaining about them being in colour, its just something new and I like that.
... Plus, you can just turn down the Color, on your TV...
@@carealoo744 yea :D
@@codyw1 Yeah, it's just, personally, I don't even see the need to add a black and white version, when you can just turn the colour down on your TV.
That's what Loose Cannon did, with their Marco Polo reconstruction.
@@carealoo744 I would rather have a black and white version included. I shouldn't have to mess about with the colour setting on my TV.
I wouldn’t care about the audio quality on the releases, these recordings were made over 50 years ago, any audio is an amazement!
The audio quality matters for a wider audience, really. If the team says it’s important - it’s important!
Josh Snares I understand, but it somewhat fears me that they won’t animate some Hartnell stories simply because the audio isn’t perfect
And now we have The Faceless Ones and Fury From the Deep animated!
Very interesting to come back to this 2 years later and see how correct you were - and you were
I’m always right 😌
Hi Josh : personally I'd love to see Fury, Evil and Wheel.
I want them all animated I love all the animations. Reign of terror was rough during some scenes due to budget concerns. That being said I consume as much doctor who as I can on a daily basis. I love big finish productions and classic and new who!!!!
Great work as usual! I remember debating this with friends, one suggestion was an animated/ 'cartoon' version of Tomb of the Cybermen!
@@codyw1 I am talking pre 1992.
Edit: I remember when Jon Pertwee had missing episodes, so..
Evil of the Daleks is my favorite story. I hope it will be animated soon. After all it is the end of the Daleks (not) forever and as far as I remember it’s Troughton’s favorite story as well.
Great video, really enjoyed it!
Great stuff, loved every minute, in fact, going to re-watch it a bit later😀👏👏
I've got my copy of Faceless Ones in the mail, Fury From the Deep is next. I'd vote for Dalek's Master Plan (just the missing eps), with the remake of Mission to the Unknown included.
In my opinion, they won't go for any of the harder stuff until much later down the line. Plus for the people who are moaning about them animating all the episodes in color, I believe they'll have the original episodes alongside the black and white episodes.
Web of Fear 3 is definitely out there in private hands, or so they say. It was stolen away before it could be returned to the BBC.
“Don’t forget to subscribe to the official Josh Snares TH-cam channel”
I see what you did there.
(my dream is that they have a teaser in the Faceless ones release, kinda like they had with the old DVD releases of classic stories, but i know it is a bit of a stretch)
I agree with your assessment that important stories as a whole should be prioritised. I am therefore really hopeful that they will do The Savages and Highlanders since they feature companion arrivals and departures.
Another great video that really that sparks my passion for missing stories and can´t wait for the next one!
The Wheel in Space has been up for preorder for awhile on Amazon
Based on this theory, I think that the following episodes will be animated in order:
The Evil of the Daleks
The Abominable Snowmen
Fury From The Deep
The Wheel in Space
I'm not sure what they'll do after this, however. We'll just have to wait and see
Dang it, he's right, y'all! Much as I'd love some of these stories animated today, I can wait. By golly, I'll support the range forever if I have to!
We all need to buy the hell out of these videos to increase the chances of our seeing The Daleks' Master Plan (WITH its prequel "Mission to the Unknown!" I can dream too). I would also love to see Fury From The Deep (I agree that it is "begging to be animated"). It would also be cool to see "The Celestial Toymaker."
Regarding episodes with poor audio quality: Does the technology not exist to clean these up to an acceptable level?
Ahhh Ahhhhh Ahhhhh new Josh Snares video...
Fangasm. I seriously would go back to being depressed if it weren't for your and many other videos.
Seriously, I'm learning to be a better person.
Better with women/men/people. It's made me think, with my lack of sleep, from doing my own self improvement studying:
You know Josh it's ironic.
Peace.
On the Missing Episodes being recovered:
- The Doctor Who Restoration team said in their Gallifrey One 2019 interview by Radio Free Skaro (Yes I know you referenced this in the video) that they know of two episodes in private hands, one of which being from the 1975 Australia return, and the other episode not being from this return. They also specifically stated that it was not Web of Fear 3, meaning that we have 3 confirmed missing episodes that survive, leaving 94 missing...
The Surviving Episodes are:
1. Unknown Episode; 1/51 Possible Episodes (1/32 Hartnell Episodes; Season 1-3) / (1/19 Troughton Episodes; Early Season 4 & Late Season 5)
- Hartnell: Marco Polo, Reign of Terror, The Crusade, Mission to the Unknown, The Daleks' Masterplan, The Massacre, The Celestial Toymaker, or The Savages
- Troughton: The Highlanders, The Macra Terror, Fury from the Deep, or The Wheel in Space
- Best Guess 1: "Crossing my fingers" The Daleks' Masterplan (03) - The Devil's Planet b/c of Blue Peter 1971 clip
- Best Guess 2: "Crossing my fingers" The Daleks' Masterplan (04) - The Traitors b/c of Blue Peter 1973 clip
2. Australia 1975 return; 1/46 Episodes (1/12 Hartnell Episodes; Early Season 3 & Season 4) / 1/34 Troughton Episodes; Season 4-6)
- Hartnell: Galaxy Four, The Myth Makers, The Smugglers, or The Tenth Planet
- Troughton: Power of the Daleks, The Underwater Menace, The Moonbase, The Faceless Ones, Evil of the Daleks, The Abominable Snowmen, Ice Warriors, The Invasion, or Space Pirates
- Best Guess: Galaxy Four (1) - Four Hundred Dawns b/c of the Whose Doctor Who BBC Two Documentary from 1977 which lead to 5 min 30 secs extant in the archive.
3. Web of Fear: Episode Three (Confirmed)
If sound quality is a problem, can't digital enhancement or augmentation be used to help improve the quality when it's needed? I know this is an added expense, but I would think it would be an option if the will is there.
Evil of the Daleks The Savages and macro Polo I wuold love to see animated Great Video.
The Highlanders.
Aggressive Scots and Patrick Troughton in drag. What more could you want?
I would love to see Evil of the Daleks animated. I feel it would do well because it has the Daleks in it, but also being Victoria's debut
I LOVE the Celestial Toymaker! He is my favourite villain EVER!
Josh Snares is more handsome than John Barrowman. Fight me.
Great well thought out video 😀
My choice would be a crowd pleasers like Evil of the Daleks, Wheel in Space or Abominable Snowmen.
In an alternate reality? Marco Polo, Celestial Toymaker or Dalek Masterplan.
Which missing episodes would I like to see animated?
How about all of them, so we won't need a time machine to watch the entire series anymore?
I believe eventually all the missing Episodes will be animated. I believe this because as Time Goes On animation becomes cheaper but also the amount of assets that the studio will have existing will be greater. For example Rob Ritchie already has assets for evil of the Daleks such as the emperor Dalek standard 60s model. They could also subsidize the cost by making the price of the physical release more expensive. For example I will be happy to pay twice the price for the Daleks master plan if it meant we got an animated reconstruction.
