The Space Pirates is a major headache for 6, but I still think that season is waiting for the firing pistol to sound (perhaps simply admit defeat on Pirates and do a lengthy making of? That Season 5 Patrick Troughton Cover mockup looks great! I do hope that with all these fan mock ups Lee Binding doesnt feel like pressure to make his completely different. Its a silly worry but i do think about it, and i wonder was it the case with the season 2's cover
I think that someone should come to my coutry Costa Rica in order to look for the lost episodes of the William Hartnell era, according to some people that I know those episodes were broadcast here in my country and maybe(with a little bit of luck) they are still available in the oldest TV Channel Company from my country, Teletica Canal 7 in San Jose Costa Rica
Costa Rica probably doesn't hold any Doctor Who episodes, as they were likely returned to the BBC sometime in 1972 or 73. Additionally, all episodes sold to Costa Rica are complete. Only 12 out of 17 of William Hartnell's first stories were dubbed into Spanish, and all of these exist in the BBC archive.
I’m pretty sure this is why the Disney deal was struck a lot of that deal was to bring the world of who to Disney+ will help fund it and probably will do so with that deal
I wish the BBC should wait until all the colour seasons have been released so that the remaining stories of Hartnell and Troughton have been animated. All of Season 6 is available on their original black and white. The Space Pirates needs animating on order to give us a complete Season 6 Patrick Troughton Blu ray box set.
The more I think about this, I believe we're going to see Season 6 as the next 60s release. I think a Troughton is most likely to be next since they're just finishing up the first Hartnell one. You just take the loss with The Space Pirates... do the best you can w/ a making-of and a reconstruction, include the narrated audio version and existing episode. It's one of the less-wanted missing stories anyway. Ironically, because so much exists it's the least-represented Troughton season on blu-ray, so it'll be nice to change that! Your point about giving a little time between the animated releases and a full Season 5 set makes a lot of sense to me. I also think Wheel In Space makes a lot of sense to animate if a source can be found for funding. For all those reasons, I think Season 5 is a few years out. Season 1 is the next most likely. I think the idea of doing that for the 60th anniversary makes some sense, but we're already pretty sure that Season 20 will be coming out next year -- and an anniversary season (w/ an anniversary special) is a great way to celebrate another milestone. If we went back to 3 per year, I could definitely see Season 1 coming out at the end of the year next year though. Seasons 3 and 4 need the most work for sure. Season 4 will make a nice set eventually, but I'm really not sure what they're going to do with Season 3. I think you're right that it'll be the last one of the range... and could potentially see The Collection going out w/ a bit of a whimper. I'm interested to see what they come up with, but I expect we'll be waiting several years to see it. Great video!
Daleks Master Plan will be animated strictly on the fact that it’s a dalek story alone. That’s a given. But other than that, they might do celestial toymaker as well. But those are the only two I think they’ll animate from that season
I think Season 6 is most likely to be next in terms of 60s Seasons as the great thing about that one is it only has 7 missing episodes and two of them (the Invasion) have been animated, the ones that haven't are all of the Space Pirates minus Episode 2 which does exist. And if they do Season 6 that would mean we have a "Collection" boxset for EVERY Classic Doctor!
I believe if they do another 60s Collection, it’ll be Season 5. It’s the right way to introduce the Second Doctor to the range, having many of his most iconic episodes, and all but one missing serial from it’s been animated now. So while Season 1 and 6 are more complete, there’d be more demand for 5. I’m curious how they’d handle the Third Doctor’s first and last seasons though, since they’re the only ones to not have any surviving regulars, making a trailer tricky to think up for them. I really hope that for Season 11’s trailer, they get the cast of The Sarah Jane Adventures to represent her first season.
I really hope one day all the lost episodes get animated. I personally really can’t enjoy the tele-snap reconstruction and to actually be able to sit down and watch every episode would be amazing
@Joey15811 well that's not bad for 60 years. Hopefully some day now that they have that deal with disney thay can make a decent recreation and animation of missing episodes. Definitely better then the stiff animation we have now for some of the missing episodes
6 has the least missing (non-animated eps) and being a Pat is more likely than getting a second Hartnell straight away. TSP is a pain but it seems clear they're not waiting around for them to find more money in the kitty for animations.
@@OrangeAceGaming well BBC America pulled themselves out of the future of missing episodes of Doctor Who maybe there's a chance that streaming services will pick it up.
These are my predictions for the order for the 60s seasons to be released 1. Season 2 (obviously) 2. Season 6 3. Season 5 4. Season 1 5. Season 4 6. Season 3
For the 60th anniversary it should be season 1 (Hartnell was my Doctor!). But, if not for Patrick Troughton's Doctor, we would not be where we are today.
Season 1 I do believe is likely for next year, but I do think a Troughton set will be released before another Hartnell. As with the leaks therefore I believe that the next 3 collection sets will be Season 20, Season 6, and Season 1. Possibly another Pertwee set (Season 9?) before 20 though. Season 3 is likely to be the very last Collection Set released unless they start to do them for the new series.
I bet they’ll do all the black and white seasons within the next 6/7 years bar Season 3. There will probably be some kind of big radio silence about it from the BBC. Leaving the fan base to sort of hype itself up with what’s going to happen to it and then probably like 6/7 years later after the rest of the collection is done. They’ll surprise drop an announcement I reckon. Otherwise, not the foggiest. But yeh I personally think either Season 1 or 6 will be next.
All the missing stories were done by Loose Canon, they were done rather well, even using found clips and CGI to enhance the Tele-snap reconstructions. I'm sure some sort of agreement could be reached between the BBC and the creators of these videos for use in the box sets releases.
Talking about the Collection sets - I don't know if you've ever talked about this before but do you think we'll get a Wilderness Years set at some point ?
I would LOVE to get a Wilderness Years set some day! Even if the TV Movie is the main feature, but if they found a way to include the charity specials: Dimensions in Time, Curse of Fatal Death and a whole bunch of the quirkier stuff that appeared during the 90s!
@@AdamMartyn I mean if it was just generally Wilderness Years then there's always Scream of the Shalka and if possible the webcasts of Real Time, Death Comes to Time and Shada too ! It'd be exciting if they did manage to do a boxset, try and get Grant and Jacobi for a behind the sofa !
Excellent video. I would be fine if most 60's sets had quality photo reconstructions, or possibly storyboard like illustrations similar to what they did with Death Comes to Time. My predictions for the next sets: 60's set is probably season 6, 70's set could be 15, 80's set would be 20.
2023 will concentrate on anniversary sets . Therefore I believe seasons 20 and 25 will definitely be released next year . IF another black and white release comes out next year , it will be season 1. Of course , there may be an announcement regarding missing episodes rediscovered…. But that’s a big reach …
I think the next one out of these five to release seasons would be season 5 after they sort out wheel in space so they would have at least one doctors story released on dvd. My favourite season though to see is the one with most missing episodes hopefully one day the myth makers the dalek master plan and the celestial toymaker will be found or restored these are the area in who that is most damaged with missing episodes
I know what I would do for "Marco Polo": Have David Bradley play the Doctor, and recreate it, like "Mission to the Unknown" except on a larger scale. But only if Waris Hussein directs! Because he's still around, this is the only story I'd recommend this treatment for (although I could also see it working for "The Myth Makers" or "The Savages"). A nice plus would be having the Asian characters played entirely by Asian actors this time around. On the other hand, "The Celestial Toymaker" should be animated, but not in a way trying to recreate the look of its original broadcast (which the animations are getting away from a bit anyway). The animators of "Toymaker" should be allowed to do whatever weird, wild, experimental work on it they want, just because it would fit the story so well. Some of the fan animations I've seen for this take that approach, and they look pretty good!
Well, now that the BBC has come to a deal with Disney regarding distribution of new episodes abroad, I wouldn't be too surprised if they started funding animation for missing episodes as well. If so, that would be great news for the collection range. Fans would riot if seasons 1 and 3 released without animated versions of Marco Polo and The Daleks' Master Plan.
I would agree with the idea if Season 1 being next to tie with the 60th. And Season 3 pushed to the end of the range. Seeing the percentage of completion of each season with animation makes me sad the animations have stopped for now. That being said I'd buy Seasons 1, 4 5 and 6 as they are. (Already ordered 2) Season 3 though I'd have a hard time paying as much for if most of it is photo reconstructions or audio. If they do go that route that'd be the only one I'd wait for the standard edition for.
I'd expect 6 so the single release of abominable snowmen can have time to make money. There's no second doctor seasons released and wether Animated or not very little of season 3 is available and season 1s release would mean both hartnell ones are quickly done
Season 6. Only The Space Pirates missing, which is quite forgettable. And we have a Hartnell set with Season 2 already, so Season 1 won't come so soon.
Sorry but I don’t think season 3 will ever be released in it’s current state, there’s just too little there. I think next year for the 60th we will get season 1, 20 and maybe 25? But if it’s a troughton then probably season 5
I hope we get another investor. Space pirates is awful as a recon. Its a more visual story and a recon drags and gives the story its dull rep. Wheel and space is a cyberman story so why it wasn’t done baffles me. I personally think we could use a couple of investors. One team to tackle season 3. While the other team work on the other 5 seasons to get them all complete. I’d rather get 4 finished first though as it is my favourite season
At this point, they have no reason to hold back the 60s seasons since they have shown they have no interest in animating the stories that have not been done so yet. Thus, I hope they just give us Troughton's three seasons over the next three years since each season is missing a story. It's not like they are going to bother animating it.
Underwater Menace as the reconstructions though. I did forget about Smugglers, however, as I keep forgetting there are two Hartenl stories in Troughton's first season.
If bbc puts out blu ray sets with missing episodes done only in telesnaps they will be crucified by most fans and will get very little to no casual fans buying it. If disney buys rights for doctor who streaming that mobey should go towards animating the rest of the missing episodes. Doctor who brings in enough funding but how the bbc works they cannot just apply all if it to DW they have to spread it around. But if disbey is paying for DW then that mobey should really go heavily towards lost episodes.
OBVIOUSLY whats next is Season 2,its taken years for it to be announced so the speculation is pointless over what will be next,6months ago everyone was convinced season 20 was coming...they will get here when they're announced & released and not before
I think they should hold back on series 1, just release series 20 and maybe 25 if they want to do anniversary seasons next year. I think if we hold our horses, Marco Polo might get done in the next 3 or 4 years - I'm sure once the R2DT series takes off, they'll have studios more interested in investing in animations. I'd say if any other season from the 60's was worth releasing at this stage, series 6 is the most obvious as it's mostly complete with its actual live action footage - plus it's Patrick Troughton!
Personally, I’m not fussed about how difficult a photo reconstruction might be, since they’re all equally unwatchable as far as I’m concerned. (I need either actual movement, or I just close my eyes and have audio-only - which then has no descriptions of anything, so I use the CDs instead.) That’s why Season 3 will be my most “more for completion’s sake than something I’ll ever watch” set, given how little of it actually survives in a visual format. I’m also currently working on the assumption(/hope) that the boxsets will include the proper colour versions of the animations where they exist (bar _The Power of the Daleks_ where the colours are infamously wrong as it was coloured against the team’s wishes because BBCA refused to broadcast a B&W animation), or Season 4 would take its place due to its strong reliance on such material.
@Fur Q 1. DW is not a “cr*ppie [sic] show”; the junkings were of all media in a time before they had any way of making any more use of the programmes (such that the tapes on which they were made were more valuable than the material itself), and stopped very quickly once that stopped being the case. And I am not “protecting the BBC”; I am defending it against idiots like you who attack it without bothering to check the actual facts (all of which will always tel against your nonsensical gibberish - maybe that’s why you don’t check them? You clearly can’t stand being wrong, after all!)

And some people find The Space Pirates somewhat....boring. They could include a video of paint drying as a substitute.
It's definitely going to be season 6. Frazer Hines confirmed.
Daleks Master Plan will be animated strictly on the fact that it’s a dalek story alone. That’s a given. But other than that, they might do celestial toymaker as well. But those are the only two I think they’ll animate from that season
I think we’ll either get season 1 or 6 next for Black & White who
I think Season 6 is most likely to be next in terms of 60s Seasons as the great thing about that one is it only has 7 missing episodes and two of them (the Invasion) have been animated, the ones that haven't are all of the Space Pirates minus Episode 2 which does exist. And if they do Season 6 that would mean we have a "Collection" boxset for EVERY Classic Doctor!
That would be ace! Just wonder what they'll do for Space Pirates since no telesnaps exist 🤔
@@AdamMartyn Something like the Loose Cannon recon on Dailymotion, I expect.
Some of the missing episodes can be animated in Black and white or in Colour.
I really hope one day all the lost episodes get animated. I personally really can’t enjoy the tele-snap reconstruction and to actually be able to sit down and watch every episode would be amazing
One day all the missing episodes will be found. They have to exist somewhere I will always hope and look forward to that day
Episode 7nof daleks master plan was never copied and confirmed junked so that one won't. A slim chance for others at least
I would love Season 1 to be The Next season of the 60s era to get blu ray treatment
Provided they've got something planned regarding Marco Polo then I'm all for it!
@@AdamMartyn there's still a chance of Marco Polo being animated
@@benmiller3252 Marco Polo is being animated? By whom?
@@OrangeAceGaming well BBC America pulled themselves out of the future of missing episodes of Doctor Who maybe there's a chance that streaming services will pick it up.
I hope we get 20 next
Doctor who season 4, AKA Doctor Who : The Animated Series
Lol
These are my predictions for the order for the 60s seasons to be released
1. Season 2 (obviously)
2. Season 6
3. Season 5
4. Season 1
5. Season 4
6. Season 3
Jolly good video Adam!
Thanks Roger!
@@AdamMartyn No worries Adam!
For the 60th anniversary it should be season 1 (Hartnell was my Doctor!). But, if not for Patrick Troughton's Doctor, we would not be where we are today.
If I could pick I want season 1
Good choice!
@@AdamMartyn massive hartnell fan
But season 2 is the season I've always wanted
When do you think it will be realased
Season 1 I do believe is likely for next year, but I do think a Troughton set will be released before another Hartnell. As with the leaks therefore I believe that the next 3 collection sets will be Season 20, Season 6, and Season 1. Possibly another Pertwee set (Season 9?) before 20 though. Season 3 is likely to be the very last Collection Set released unless they start to do them for the new series.
I hope that isn't an anachronistic tricolor on the cover of the vinyl "The Massacre"!
Should add the students version I watched it and totally love the reconstruction of lost episode.
Excellent video. I would be fine if most 60's sets had quality photo reconstructions, or possibly storyboard like illustrations similar to what they did with Death Comes to Time. My predictions for the next sets: 60's set is probably season 6, 70's set could be 15, 80's set would be 20.
Surely will be Season 6 just because it’s the closest to complete of Troughton’s.
What if they got David Bradley to re-create the missing episodes? For season 3
I pray someone invest in the missing episodes and animation can be completed. That would be the perfect answer for me.
I second this!
2023 will concentrate on anniversary sets . Therefore I believe seasons 20 and 25 will definitely be released next year . IF another black and white release comes out next year , it will be season 1. Of course , there may be an announcement regarding missing episodes rediscovered…. But that’s a big reach …
I did hear that Season 20 might be next, but I do agree with Robert about Season 25.
I'm hoping season 4
I’d buy a Troughton box set in a heartbeat. He’s my favourite doctor and it’s such a shame there’s so much of his stories that are gone
I am hoping you can do more video scares
Who’s here after the underwater meance was animated
Here after the celstrisl toy maker was animated
I reckon it’ll be season 1 to tie in with the 60th.
I’m So Looking Forward To Cosgrove Hall In The Next Video!
I am hoping for season 21 next
It's Possible but I don't know yet.
(Already ordered 2)
Season 3 though I'd have a hard time paying as much for if most of it is photo reconstructions or audio. If they do go that route that'd be the only one I'd wait for the standard edition for.
Can you please put the Valeyard into your title sequence....
I'd expect 6 so the single release of abominable snowmen can have time to make money. There's no second doctor seasons released and wether Animated or not very little of season 3 is available and season 1s release would mean both hartnell ones are quickly done
Good research. I wondered why series 1 is not out.
i want my favorite season, season 6
Which. 60s. Season. Is. Next. Doctor. Who. Collection
Season 6. Only The Space Pirates missing, which is quite forgettable. And we have a Hartnell set with Season 2 already, so Season 1 won't come so soon.
i would have to say season 1 or season 6
Given recent reports about potential animations for The Smugglers and The Underwater Menace, things seem to be looking better for Season 4.
Sorry but I don’t think season 3 will ever be released in it’s current state, there’s just too little there. I think next year for the 60th we will get season 1, 20 and maybe 25? But if it’s a troughton then probably season 5
Can’t believe everyone is happy with this. They couldn’t even replace the lost episodes with cartoons before releasing. What a quick cash in.
Well it ought to be season one sicne it's now 2023.....
(along with Season 20 and 25)
The bbc should ask josh snares if they can use his dalek masterbplsn recons
At this point, they have no reason to hold back the 60s seasons since they have shown they have no interest in animating the stories that have not been done so yet. Thus, I hope they just give us Troughton's three seasons over the next three years since each season is missing a story. It's not like they are going to bother animating it.
Season 4 has smugglers, Highlanders and Underwater missing.
Underwater Menace as the reconstructions though. I did forget about Smugglers, however, as I keep forgetting there are two Hartenl stories in Troughton's first season.
I think you made an error on s5 there’s 18 episodes missing
I definitely did! My mistake!
Maybe they could hire big finish to turn the Missing stories into Audio Dramas, at least if they're pulling the funding for the Animation
Now that would be a cool idea!
Why not just re-enact the missing series?
Personally, I’m not fussed about how difficult a photo reconstruction might be, since they’re all equally unwatchable as far as I’m concerned. (I need either actual movement, or I just close my eyes and have audio-only - which then has no descriptions of anything, so I use the CDs instead.)
That’s why Season 3 will be my most “more for completion’s sake than something I’ll ever watch” set, given how little of it actually survives in a visual format.
S6 should be next. The Invasion is animated & no one likes the Space Pirates anyway.
