This topic hits home for me, I got engaged last year and currently am in the process of planning a wedding for the end of this year but my parents are on a fixed income, my father said he would contribute but till this day he hasn't been able to help. I don't feel comfortable asking my fiances parents for money since it is traditionally the bride's parents that pay for the wedding, and they haven't offered to help me not one time. This has been a stressful ordeal as at least 90% of the costs are coming out of my pocket alone. My fiance gave me some funds but even so when I think about how this is going, it is not all I perceived it to be, sometimes I cry but I gotta do what needs to be done to make my dream wedding happen. When I have children I will do whatever in my power to help them and their spouse have a great wedding.

I honestly don't think that that tradition holds fast anymore. Given the high costs now associated with weddings, the bride and groom should have primary responsibility for funding it but I also think that it's great for both families to also assist in whatever way that they could. It doesn't necessarily have to be any grand funding- it could also be something small but meaningful.

Tamara first said on a previous episode Adam helped with the dress and she paid for the entire wedding but now she is changing it to everyone chipped in to help. and all of a sudden she gets defensive(@5:4 where she state that Adams mom likes her so it could happen) when Tamer says she wouldn't pay her son's wedding if she doesn't like the bride.

I spent a chunk of my savings for my brothers wedding just a week ago. Here in the Philippines the grooms family usually pay for the wedding but since we don't have parents anymore i help my brother pay for his wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, unfortunately i couldn't attend because of some travel restrictions which sucks btw.

This isn't the first lie she's told though. In one of the most recent episodes where the girls asked "what can't you leave your house without to look good" she said she doesn't care what she looks like cause she's too worried about taking care of her kids and that's it's difficult at times cause shes "never had a nanny". But in the previous season she mentioned something about Aden loving their nanny and even on Instagram she's posted about having an assistant. - I dunno I feel like Tamera is one of those people who says something in the moment to look good, and what's worse is that actually sounds very sincere when she tells her stories lol.

My parents paid for a large chunk of my wedding (they wanted to), me and my husband paid for what we could like the DJ and photographer, one of my bridesmaids paid for all the flowers and my in laws paid for our honeymoon. My aunt and uncle had a timeshare so we didn't have to pay for hotel stay.

Santricia Jones yes very blessed. We didn't have any debt. Wedding venues are so expensive. It's literally a down payment on a home but I felt like since i'm never getting married again, why not go all out lol.
The only thing I kind of regret is a destination wedding because they're cheaper.
If you want to get married, you should pay it yourself. Help will come from family and friends , but it’s your responsability ❤️

This topic hits home for me, I got engaged last year and currently am in the process of planning a wedding for the end of this year but my parents are on a fixed income, my father said he would contribute but till this day he hasn't been able to help. I don't feel comfortable asking my fiances parents for money since it is traditionally the bride's parents that pay for the wedding, and they haven't offered to help me not one time. This has been a stressful ordeal as at least 90% of the costs are coming out of my pocket alone. My fiance gave me some funds but even so when I think about how this is going, it is not all I perceived it to be, sometimes I cry but I gotta do what needs to be done to make my dream wedding happen. When I have children I will do whatever in my power to help them and their spouse have a great wedding.

If a wedding is stressing you out this much then either you should wait and save up or have a small intimate wedding, even if it's not at all the dream wedding you'd want. Remember, you still gotta live after the wedding.....
I honestly don't think that that tradition holds fast anymore. Given the high costs now associated with weddings, the bride and groom should have primary responsibility for funding it but I also think that it's great for both families to also assist in whatever way that they could. It doesn't necessarily have to be any grand funding- it could also be something small but meaningful.

The tradition for the father of the bride paying for the wedding started b/c a wife was a “financial burden” to the grooms family b/c the wife would go live with the groom and his parents since they would marry young. And so they’re “giving her away” and paying for the wedding in exchange. I believe now a days since its more common to get married when you’re an older adult they are paying for their own wedding because they can.
I want a intimate destination wedding and then a huge party once I get back to celebrate. I would ask my parents to chip in on the party, but not the whole wedding. I feel like that's a lot to ask for when my parents have paid for school, living, and anything I ever needed my whole life. I think the wedding should be the couples responsibility

Traditional biblical culture yes and there are still some traditional folks who do the same, I would if my daughter wasn't going to work and be a housewife. But if she's not I don't see a point to it. My father is a Christian and my husband and I eloped, I would never even think of having him pay for my wedding but I would have loved to have a father who cared about me that much.
When I got married, I payed for ALOT of my wedding. My dad payed a little, my dad payed a little, and my mother in law paid for some. I just hope whenever we have kids, we are in the position to help out a lot more than my parents were.
