Thank you! A respirator can be used if preferred. The Savage Patriot new PolyKote Enhanced has no VOCs if you're looking for something along that lines. I've never felt like I needed a respirator and it's more a personal choice for me. It seems to limit my creativity when wearing one. Gets in my line of sight.
Beautiful. Found the inspiration for my counters. Question: for the flood coat of Art Coat can you add veins of color or diamond dust with clear to it for more dimension or 3D effect? Then maybe do a final layer of Ultimate Top Coat?
Thank you! And absolutely. I typically don’t add color additives into my flood coat but you can. I do however almost always add diamond dust or gold dust or silver glitter. I love doing a hint of diamond dust and a hint of silver glitter together.
Gorgeous design! I’m a bit confused. On the website of coat stone it says that art coat epoxy is for light color countertops, however you did it as a second layer. I wonder if I can use it as 1st layer? Also the 3rd layer anti-yellow protection or just matte effect?
Glad you liked the video! You'd roll it the exact same way if it was in place. If it's against a wall just be sure you put some plastic or paper against the wall and tape it securely so you don't get UTC where it doesn't belong and don't contaminate your roller.
I would like to try this myself. I live in Hawaii and are humidity here gets very high. Will I have issues with how the product will react? If it's an issue what would you recommend I do to control my environment and or product? Mahalo in advance for your time and sharing your beautiful projects.
Humidity can definitely affect epoxy so you'd want to test it on some samples to see if it changes your working time or cure time. We live in a very dry area and only get humidity a little in summer. Our shop is temperature controlled though so I'd suggest making sure your pouring area is air conditioned and maybe add a dehumidifier.
gorgeous. Quick question. I know stone coat said they stopped using spray paint mixed in with epoxy, but wondered if you have had any problems with using it mixed. Love your work and thanks for sharing your process, it is great for us starting out. I'm doing strictly wall art but using the same techniques.
Thank you! We appreciate you watching! I really don’t use it to tint my epoxy. I just spray it between layers for effects. Takes too much spray paint to tint a big bucket of epoxy and it thins it out too much.
Are you driving back? We typically don't sell any product but if you are driving back and want to avoid the higher shipping cost I may be able to help you. Feel free to email me at staci@artisandesignconcepts.com or text our business line at 760-515-1111
Thank you. The clear coat (2nd layer) is for the protection, durability, etc., but what does the 3rd coat do? Is it necessary? Does it make it lighter or it observes fully?
Clear coat smooths out the color coat, adds dimension and yes additional durability. If you're going to use epoxy as your color coat we now recommend PolyKote as the clear coat as it will not yellow like epoxy. The final coat is a durable topcoat. It does add a slight texture but without it, the clear coat will scratch over time. We now use SP Elite Hybrid Topcoat from Savage Patriot Polymers. You still see all the beauty of the design. Choose from matte or gloss.
A clear coat is always recommended. It helps to lock in the additives that you've mixed into the epoxy, adds an extra layer of protection as well as dimension. It also helps level everything out after the color coat if there are any low spots or if you had to sand out any dust or hairs.
No I’m not a fan of sanding UTC. It leaves a weird texture. Instead I use a Stanley Scraper blade to lightly scrape off any dust that leaves behind a texture.
We don't tilt 99% of our counters. You can create this same look by doing exactly what I did in the video. We switched to a better product line from Savage Patriot Polymers called PolyKote. Non yellowing! We use a roller technique more now. Check out some of our most recent videos.
Ideally yes, best practice is to remove the old countertops, fabricate new, pour and then Install. If that's not an option, you can pour over your existing countertops depending on what they are. Some surfaces need different prep than others. The materials will range based on what you're using and if you are fabricating or not. But to check out the price of the resin we are using please check out www.savagepatriotpolymers.com
I used Art Coat from Stonecoat Countertops as my clear coat and I always lightly sand between layers in order to sand out any dust and to create a mechanical bond between layers.
How many gallons of Epoxy did you use?? Everyone saying 4 gallons just for 1 Island, but all these videos y’all are using only 1 or 2 gallons for a entire kitchen??
For the background I use 3oz/sq ft and for the exotic pour portion I used 5oz/sq ft. On a normal exotic pour I would do 8oz/sq ft total and use only 1oz/sq ft of that for a skim coat to help the epoxy move. On this design I want the background to show through a little more so I change the ratios up a bit but still ends up at 8oz/sq ft.
@@loriezweifel3364 no problem!! Happy to help! Definitely watch more of our videos and you’ll get the confidence you need. Practice a big piece first as a sample. Then once you’re happy with it…go for it!

Love it!!!❤️❤️ I still haven’t attempted UTC! It makes me nervous.
You can do it! Just practice first! A lot!!! 😂
🤣🤣
Looks incredible I'm just wondering what epoxy is safe to use without a ventilator?

REALLY PRETTY.....what colors/micas did you use?
Thanks so much! The colors are in the captions in the first 1 minute of the video.

Absolutely Beautiful! How in the world do you transport such long countertops, without breaking?
Thank you so much! We carry them vertically and sometimes use 2x4 bracing on the backside if it's really long.

We no longer use StoneCoat because even the Art Coat turns yellow. We now use PolyKote from Savage Patriot Polymers. www.savagepatriotpolymers.com

I think stone coach stopped endorsing spray paint in their epoxy, because they wanted to sell more of their own dyes
Awesome!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!

No I’m not a fan of sanding UTC. It leaves a weird texture. Instead I use a Stanley Scraper blade to lightly scrape off any dust that leaves behind a texture.

What kind of rollers are these?
We use Home Depot brand. 9"
so is the idea .... remove your old counters to do this ? what is the product cost?
