Have you done the Filter expansion MOD(s), I assume you did before trying to determine the carbs & jetting needed but I've only started looking at this channel so I'm all behind. You saw what I said about an ECU on this bike, right? Anyhoo, good stuff & I'll be waiting on the next one too..... peace
No, intake air mods IS expanding the airflow into the bike. Sorry, I don't always use proper terminology .... and I've almost got the cash to buy this bike, I'd prefer a bigger bike but this bike is still a great little bike & that's why I'm here watching the things you do & experience. Air/Fuel & exhaust are the main 3 as I understand it & I like this bike. It might be all I can afford but I'd rather pay & OWN it than paying a note even if it means I get a smaller bike. So yeah, I enjoy seeing people go thru the process of what to do..... thanks man, I'll be doing some of these if I buy this bike & as I mentioned, some of these bikes have an ECU. Someone asked me if a bike w/ a carburetor can have an ECU & I went to find they do have one. So after you do mods, you can use one of the new fangled electronic carbs & find a company to Flash all of it. peace
Great job . I have some questions . Is that the stock carb adapter (boot) to the head . Did you have any crank clearance issues with the 222cc piston (I have already got mine kit and the SS exhaust the silencer is in route to me now sold separately . Did you have to change jets and what jets are you using and needle clip position . I am presuming you are using stock gearing . And of course whats your top speed now . Can you tell me how long the new throttle cable is Please . Note : nice Camaro, I have a 1970 GTO convertible . It is possible I will see you on the road some time as I live just north of Kemptville in the 613 area as well
thanks , its the stock intake adapter on the head yes. i did some clearance on the bottom of the piston under the wrist pin in the big bore instal video. i moved the needle up, clip down one notch. i havent changed any jets aside from complete carb swaps. the aftermarket cable is a little long but i make it work. my top speed is over 105 kph now since the big bore kit, 30mm carb, and exhaust baffle delete with stock sprockets. ive ordered an 18 tooth overdrive front drive sprocket again so ill likely be installing that soon for lower RPMs at higher speeds. cheers
I don’t think it’s changed too much. I’m sure it likely does use a little more with the bigger carb, but I also have installed an 18 tooth overdrive sprocket as well so that brings the RPM down slightly. I haven’t accurately measured or calculated the fuel economy since but I’d say it’s barely noticeable. In the summer & fall I did some commuting to work, about $14 Canadian would fill the tank with mid-grade fuel and I’d be able to drive around 250-300 kms on a tank. 80kph speed limit on my commute so I’m holding it almost wide open in 5th for maybe 75% of the way
@@613Builds thanks for replying. I like the fuel economy of my xr150, while it was using 2.2 - 2.4 L/100 KM, before re-jetting. It uses now close to 3 and I manage 400 km before I need to fill 11 litres. while I would like a bit more power, but I say , 'this stock bike is great for the Phillipines.
Hi. Planning on installing the kit too. Do you need to do any additional job aside from installig the kit itself? I'm planning on swapping the camshaft too. Do I need any additional tools like maybe lathe or power tools or I can do it in the garage overnight? Have you considered PZ27 as your carb or is it too underpowered an I should install PZ30? Any additional details I need to purchase if I decide to install PZ30?
@@AlexK-um1tx I cover most of that in the previous installed video on my channel. You should check it out. There is some clearances recommended between the wrist pin and the crank rotating assembly. The pz 27 worked alright for a while but it seems happier with the Pz30 after doing the big bore kit and uncorking the exhaust. Mine only has the stock cam shaft so you’ll definitely want the P3 if you have the stage two or stage three cam install planned
@@613Builds ah, I see. Is the piston clearance necessary? Will it have any negative effects if not done? Also, can you install any carb with an accelerating pump on XR 150? Is it worth it or will PZ 30 do the work?
@@AlexK-um1tx i’m told that the clearancing is necessary. I have not experienced it firsthand, but swap shop said the engine would lock up, or it would not rotate until they did the clearance thing on the bottom of the wrist pin. Confirm nor deny, but I would rather just do the clearance rather than find out the hard way or have an engine that will not rotate. You might be able to install a carburetter with an accelerator pump, but I’m not sure if that’s necessary in a small displacement engine like this, unless there’s a reason?
