Hello Melissa from Florida 😊. I have my sons hair from his very first haircut. He’s 36 now and I’ll never rid of it! Like you I have very special memories and love going thru them. My son can do whatever he wants with them when I hand them over. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hey Patti! Hope you're enjoying Florida - it's a bit rainy today tho 🙁 I may end up keeping it and putting it in a pretty container or something. I haven't decided yet. I do enjoy having memories to go through. Have fun this week! Thanks for watching ♥️

❤❤Hey sweet friend, for sure when I cleaned out my kids boxes of baby stuff I was just a mess. Makes one realize how time flies for sure. On the shoes my suggestion is to get them dipped in I think bronze or something like that and use them as a decor piece. It will be personal and a great way to preserve them. Have a blessed week🙏🙏🙏 Can’t wait for the garage declutter..😘😘

Hi Ruby 😀 I have heard about dipping them in bronze - I need to look into it. I also cannot wait for the garage organization! I think about it every time I walk out there 😆 Thanks for watching friend! ♥️

The tote box is what I used for my girls childhood things. I’ve only kept very important things. Their accomplishments, baby things and very special notes from them😊 Regarding your yellowing from hard water Borox powder is excellent 😁

Hi Patricia! Those are the types of things I like to keep as well 😃 I will try Borox powder! Thank you so much for the suggestion. I would love to be able to get some of those things clean. Thank you for watching! ♥️

Life has happened for me. I have the memories. Lived through the fires, floods, homelessness, and relocations. 😢 Everything is gone. (Even pictures) I want you to consider the grandchildren idea. They are born in different seasons, sizes, sexes and have different preferences. My children are very much not as sentimental as I.
Pilot G-2 is my favorite pen.

i am sorry you lost everything. Honestly, I don't know why I keep things. My kids don't want them. They didn't want the clothes or any of their awards. Why am I keeping it and moving it from house to house (and downsizing each time). I came to the realization that if something were important to me (like a cookie jar both my kids scrounged to buy because they thought I wanted it, then I need to keep it on display and not packed away. When I see it, it makes me happy. Packed away, it was just another thing. and the pilot G-2 are my favorite as well.

Hi Kimberly! I'll definitely hold on to some of the things. I can't imagine going through all of that ♥️ I added those pens to my Amazon cart - I love a good pen - thank you! Thanks for watching!

Agree about the stuff ! That's what I keep telling myself - if it's put away - what's the point of keeping anymore?

  • @TDGenX
    @TDGenX หลายเดือนก่อน

The only few hair curls or strands I kept are ones from first haircuts that are in envelopes inside their baby books. But that's really only my oldest of children. I didn't keep baby books pretty much by early 00's anymore. I never found the time to write in them by that points (hands too full of children and life). From a sentimental, avid sewist, I would say have a memory bear made with their most special clothes. Pieces can be cut for the parts of the bear (from your baby clothes and items) and sewn into one special bear to keep instead of a tote full of clothes and blankets. You can even have the blankets cut up and pieced together as a small quilt. Then you have all the memories along with less items to hold onto (and more likely you're children would want to keep those than a tote full of items that are out of style, season and ultimately likely shoved into a garage or attic forever). That's my best advice tbh. Think about when you're gone. Would you rather them have a memory bear with bits and pieces of those outfits or a tote of clothes they keep in a garage? Loving your journey!

Now that you mention it - I don’t even know where their baby books are 🫠 they weren’t in their totes. Welp. Hopefully they turn up one day 🤣 I LOVE the idea of a memory bear! Such a good idea!! I will look into that for sure. So much better than stuffing it all away. Thanks so much for the tip! ♥️

We only kept a blanket and onesy that were custom made - both my boys used them, and I love the memories I have attached to them. I do also have their first haircut clippings. After that, just pictures taken and a small amount of artwork or writing that was written and clearly very personal through the years will be kept.
Nothing that I would pass for grandkids to use. This is all for me, and must take up minimal space. (I acknowledge that I have clutter issues 😅)

Hi Kimberly. I'm trying to keep minimal amount. It sounds like quite a few people keep their hair clippings. I may decide to put them in a pretty container. I haven't decided 😃 Thank you for watching!

I get it! I had tons of bins for my only child! He's married now with a huge garage so he took everything, but he didn't want his curls! 🤣

Hi Nancy! Yes for sure my son will not want his curls haha! He thinks it's weird but who knows - maybe his mind will change when he has kids. Thanks for watching! ♥️

I love your channel. My children are grown and out of the house so it is nice to watch you declutter and not have toy declutter. I went through my kids' cartons when I moved (which was hard since I was moving out of the house they grew up in. I had 18 cartons of stuff I saved!! I kept the things that were important to me, for me (cards notes pictures), report cards, awards, etc but I also got rid of a lot. My daughter has children and didn't want the clothes or the toys I had saved. I still have too many boxes that I need to pare down again. My kids don't want this clutter. Actually same with photos. And I did the whole hair thing....saved my son's first curl (and their first tooth) but seriously, I am not going to display them and he won't either so I let it go. Decluttering sentimental stuff is so hard, especially when your kids are grown and gone. Lots of memories. I have also bouts of anxiousness. Especially in the early morning. I can't put my finger on what it is from. I have a lot going on (sick mom, unhappy 2nd marriage) but that is a constant and doesn't explain the random anxiety. I really enjoy your decluttering. I wish I had time. ( I KNOW EXCUSE) but I work full time and am just so tired. Maybe this winter when I am stuck inside. Merry Christmas!!

You are so sweet 😭 Thank you! I keep reminding myself a lot of what I keep they will not want. I would literally bawl my eyes out if I had to go through their stuff all from the house they grew up in. We lived in a house for 13 years before this and I still miss that little home and all of the memories. I remember even getting emotional over painting over crayon my daughter drew on the wall 😆 I was thinking of displaying his hair and haven't fully decided but I'm like you - I may let it go too. Probably the anxiousness is from all of those things. They can really have an impact on you. Hope your mom gets better and you find your happiness. Working full time is a legitimate excuse! When I was teaching I was bone deep tired and had time for nothing! Good luck with everything and thank you for watching! ♥️

Hi Melissa. My child is grown and now married and I too have a snippet of her hair but I kept only a snippet in a small bag. I kept it for me, not for my daughter. Keep in mind that it doesn’t hold any sentimental significance to our children. So if you no longer feel the need to keep it, by all means permission to toss it. Hope that helps 😊 BTW I am new to your channel and love your videos!
