    I have the same Trailer Valet XL. I got it very inexpensively second-hand. I can understand people's negative comments about it. Every time I use it I feel like I've been on a treadmill for an hour (and that's with a drill) but in some circumstances (extremely narrow driveway and street) it is actually very helpful in getting a trailer where you want it to go. I envy the guys who grew up towing trailers on the family farm who can back a 5th-wheeler through an obstacle course blindfolded, but if you are just someone who tows a couple times a year, a trailer dolly can really help you make your camping possible.

    • @hammer-r
      @hammer-r 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup have to agree it works for some of us. It was worth the money. Let the others laugh…. It’s not for everyone. The drill attachment makes it doable and the best way for us to move the two trailers we have.

    • @hammer-r
      @hammer-r 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why I only use the drill. It’s hard enough wrestling it even with the drill, but it works. My drill is no worse for wear so far and I’m moving a 6200 lbs RV trailer. Yea not for everyone, but it works for those who need it. I’ll never use the crank if I can help it. 😜

    Looks like it's more of a PITA than it's worth, lol. My wife and I rented a storage unit for our boat- not realizing how heavy our boat is (usually move with pickup) that getting it up the incline into the storage unit is harder than we'd originally thought it would be. There's not enough room between the rows of storage buildings to properly back it in with the truck, and the door to the unit is barely wide enough for the boat. I can see that this is not what I am needing- I need to be able to get the boat out and in a LOT faster than this, haha. Thanks for sharing!

    Omg!. Easier to back it in with a vehicle. It's a neat concept. I have used a snowblower tractor attachment to do the same before which also has its challenges, much less effort. Or if you need to go in reverse maybe attach a removable tongue on the back?

  • @ssproductions8004
    @ssproductions8004 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am so confused by so many things here. First the dolly company states not to use it up hill but hey you have to do what you have to do. Why the trailer is not backed in is beyond me. I see many wrote someone could steal it and I suppose that’s true but what are the odds a good lock and a few other gadgets don’t prevent the theft. Plus if stolen that what insurance is for. How you get this back down the driveway has to be just as entertaining as getting it up the driveway. I dam near lost it when I saw the floor attached come along being used to help assist it. Why not try an impact drill that would have to help. Honestly my hats off to you for going through this every time you camp.

    If I had to spend more than 5 min parking one of my trailers, I would never go camping. The work, effort and costs involved in parking that little trailer in that little driveway would not be worth it. I'm SO Glad I did not buy one of those trailer dollies. Just the thought of going through all that turns me off to even wanting to go out RVing. What I did was install full air bags on my truck, replacing the rear suspension, allowing me to drop it to the bumps and raise it to the clouds. This allows me to "hook n book", less than 1 min, including connecting chains and plug. I also only buy homes with large parking, and I recently bought a 5 acre lot to park my trailer collection. I'd rather spend ~$60,000 than go through the pain and misery you just suffered through. I've very glad I saw this video, as I was looking at this dolly. I'm going to just buy a ~$30,000 small tractor and use that to move my trailers around. I wish you luck and faith each time you must Indore this pain. I'll bet more than once you guys decided to not take the trailer because of the work involved in moving it. :/

    Hi, I have a problem closing my garage door, too. My rig is too big to park in my driveway. How do you close your garage door? Thank you.

      I just chalk the wheels and un hook the trailer. Then shut the door.

    If I owned a trailer valet I would never use the trailer and I would throw in the trailer the day I sell the house trailer valet is free with purchase.

      Fantastic editing. Couldn't even see the sun go up and down in the 3 days of filming it took to move that trailer 20 feet.

    Don’t you have the power drill attachment? Makes it much easier to operate. Mine works like a champ without cranking. Love it.

      Manufacturer recommends using drill only on level ground. Helps to have tag team of young strong crankers.

    That thing looks like a nightmare. I really appreciate the demonstration because I was about to buy one. I feel sorry for the kid.
    The workout was more for the kid you killed him lol

    What if you removed the crank and added a drill chuck?

      I have the drill attachment. Problem is it takes a lot of torque to move the trailer. I already burned up a 18v cordless drill. I am going to try a 1/2" corded drill. Maybe I'll do a new video.

    Wow, unless you own a trailer and the wheels to move you know and realize what it takes to move to a specific parking spot. Personally, I would not use the wheel and the crank. Bending is already a stressful operation. There must be a tri wheel motorized dolly I assume. I admire the gentlemen putting forth the effort cranking, good job.
