I had Bangers and Mash for the first time last night at an American Pub style restaurant in my town. They were AWESOME. The manager asked me if that's what they were supposed to look like. I looked up YOUR video this morning to see and these folks are serving the correct Bangers and Mash. If you ever come to Florida please come to Ocala and go to Horse and Hounds for dinner. Bangers and Mash, I think you'll be amazed. I was raised on German and Polish food and I actually like English food. You guys really rock your cooking!

Thanks for the thyme tip, hadn't thought of that one. I usually add a chicken stock cube, I'll try beef next time. A teaspoon of mustard and a small squeeze of tomato puree helps. I find melting your butter and warming the milk together in your saucepan before adding the potatoes, make's for a creamier mash. Some apple wedges fried off in a little butter until just softened, make a great addition!

Hats off to you Adam. I've lost count of the recipies I've seen that cook the sausages seperate from the gravy. I've always believed that a proper sausage & mash requires you to pre-cook/brown sausages, then remove and then return to the gravy for the last 10/15mns for the true tasting gravy.

🇨🇦 I like this guys attitude, he is funny and so friendly. He explains the recipe cooking process well. I never knew that about using the different stocks. The presentation is lovely. Oh that food all looks so good!😍. I could tuck right in to that meal no problem!!

Hi Adam, my mouth is watering again at one of your videos! I like to add a bit of whole grain mustard to the mash, that works well. Stay safe and keep cooking!

Yummy! As I have mentioned before: Home-made European food is just great. We do this recipe a lot in Germany (Bratwurst mit Kartoffelpüree und Zwiebelsoße ). However I think there is potential for improvement with respect to the peas. Personally, when preparing vegetable I never let the water boil, but simmer, so for instance delicate peas don't loose their shell and shape. And before serving I glaze them with some melted butter that has been aromatized by finely chopped parsley.

I love German sausages. Bratwursts are amazing. I also love Vienna kasekreiner sausages too, and krakaur.

It's 2 decades since I was last in Germany, on holiday. By the third day my wife had to issue a bratwurst ban - those things are addictive!

I actually take a couple of short cuts with my onion gravy, and it still turns out great. I carmelize the onions, though I add a tiny amount (1/8 tsp) of baking soda disolved in water - speeds up the breakdown of inulin to sugar, and the onions caramelize in 20 minutes. (I sprinkly some muscovado sugar over the onions during the last few minutes too.) Once they're carmelize, I deglaze with wine (an inexpensive port, marsala, or madeira works well), then add M+S beef gravy (the one they sell in the fridge case, not the shelf one) and let it all boil together. To that I add worstecer, English mustard, and chopped sage. The result is a top-notch onion gravy!

I've seen so many videos that say it needs 10 to 15 mins to caramelise the onions. No wonder I never got it right, 40 mins makes sense. Thank you, great video of a tasty meal.

Yes, it takes a long time to caramelise onions. I've seen recipes for French onion soup that completely underestimate how long they take. Glad you liked it my friend

Skip the flower in the gravy and instead throw the stock cubes in as they are we about triple the butter you used, maybe around 125ml of red wine and just cook down the until its your desired thickness, tastes incredible

I also use the knorr gel tubs of beef and chicken. They make the best stock.

Really good soul-food for sad corona days.
Good quantity of butter. Older persons in germany are used to call it not simple butter but
    GOODBUTTER. One word.
Onion gravy is worth to be cooked.
Thanks for recipe and English lesson as well.
    Regards from Germany

I look forward to trying this method. I have always fried up the sausages for at least 20 mins, adding the onion gravy only at the end stage. Now to see if I can find anything close to a good old British sausage in Germany!
