Lance's take on a classic trick. I love to watch a professional's interpretation of classic magic tricks. Their performance is what sets them apart from the amateur.
Heelfan cant do it better, otherwise he wouldnt be revealing on youtube. At least lance didnt reveal in a publc forum whether it was used in jargon or not.
Sleight of Hand at it's finest. Who cares whether 10 balls were used. Absolutely Beautiful Magic for those who Appreciate the Art of Magic. One of the Best in the business and why Mr. Burton made Millions in his career.
He has some balls and he puts them in his pocket where he swaps them and puts them under the cups the wand is misdirection and the cups hide the balls from view no one can see them till there lifted up and then slips the lemons in the cups wher the mouse then climbs up the shaft under the table where the cup is ( but what do I know !)
The ending is very simple but edited! 3:40 places the mouse from the pocket. 3:49 takes two lemons and places them in the center and right(green) cups. Also the green cup is moves between 3:40 and 3:49 so the video is edited!
@heelfan1234 so when are you going to show you actually performing this amazing routine? you seem awfully eager to expose this effect and say you're amazing at it, so why not prove it for all of us to see?
@JordMal Yeah this is all standard stuff, I can do all of this including the Mora-vernon wand spin and drop which I bet YOU can't do. I've done loads of shows with the cups. Anyone ask me how any of this is done and I will expose it for you and tell you variations. Lets all learn and expose magic!
@cmalchik Yes I think Ammar did this first with that patter and tempo. He should really not copy. It's acceptable to some extent for amateurs but the big names should really work on their own material more.
@TheJoeredman You are correct. Vernon did it much better. Also some crossover with Ammar using the ball in the mouth gag etc I think magicians should do more of their own material not plagiarise others.
Yes most of this is standard Dai Vernon and he used some of Ammar's patter; not very original! If anyone wants to know how bits are done. just post here and I'll tell you.
OK he ripped off Dai Vernon's patter and some of Michael Ammars things too. Original .... NOT. And I know exactly how he does it, I can see the loads and everything.
This is very easy - standard Dai Vernon Routine most of it. if you want to know how he loads the mouse and lemons, just comment and I'll expose it all for you.
Damn this guy just blasts Criss Angle (an overrated street magician IMO) into 50 pieces that somehow appear in front of every state capital in the US!!!
@elitex111 Sorry about that. I thought the comment was relevant to both people. Anyway, do you want to help me expose/critique some more of this routine?
It's the difference between knowing how a trick is done and knowing how to do the trick. The first, obvious, and if you know what to look for it's glaring, but the second part just takes a level of dedication most armchair critics just aren't up to
Now, he makes it look like the ball disappeared at 0:54 but its still in his right hand. AND, he will now replace the ball under the white cup WITH the ball from the red cup. So he will repeat the step. And the same thing for the green cup. The ball in the green cup goes into his right hand during the 'spin of wand' trick to hide the movement. So, he lifts all three cups to show 3 balls, he alternates the places of 3 balls with 1 extra ball
0:23 he moves 2 balls from his right hand to the 1 ball already in his left hand and shows audience once again 3 balls. 0:26 3 balls on top of cups, 1 ball in his right hand THE TRICK: 0:44 As he removes the ball under the red cup into his left hand, he sneakly places the 4th ball in his right hand back underneath the red cup. Using the pinky and ring finger. So, at 0:46 theres a cup under neath the red cup as well as on top
@JordMal I completely agree with you. I've seen Lance Burton several times (I met him once too, he's really about the nicest guy on the planet and really deserves what has). Have there been times I've figured out something he's doing? Sure, but who cares, the guy is an amazing entertainer and I certainly know I couldn't do what he does. He is funny and worth the price of admission if you want to go see him.
Look.. anyone who KNOWS magic and especially this trick will know how it's done.. it's like a automatic reaction. where we know how it's done.. but we just act along so the magician can go on with the trick.. Because people who ALWAYS wanna guess how a trick is done and ruin the trick while you're performing just sucks.
@Simon L that literally has NOTHING to do with this demonstration. I know how about 80% of this trick is done, the only part I don't know is the ending, and again, it has nothin to do with his clothes. The point of watching greats like this isn't to catch the trick or prove you know something, it's to enjoy the way he's mastered the art of magic and enjoy his great performance.
My friends and I saw both Penn and Teller as well as Lance Burton perform in Vegas a few years ago, and I thought I would like Penn and Teller's show better, but I and my friends ended up having a better time at the Lance Burton show. Penn and Teller are definitely brilliant, but in our opinion Lance Burton was just the better showman. Just my 2 cents :-)
Lance's moves aren't that smooth. you can the moves and manipulations. However his artistry is fantastic. I don't think cups and balls is where is best technical skills. But he never loses the art of magic. His doves and candles routine however is some bloody technical perfection.
He merely assumed the old woman would pick the middle cup and had already placed the two balls in the green cup. He carries a fourth ball at all times and uses his sleight of hand trick to misdirect the audience into thinking he too the balls out of the cup and places them back in a very sly manner.
I just think that a magician at his level shouldn't do the exact same routine than someone before him... it's okay for him to do the routine because it's great, but he could have at least changed the lines... some of them are exacly the same. He should've added something to make it his own.
When he looks like he puts the ball in his left hand, he actually keeps it and holds onto it while getting the wand. After it looks like its disappeared and he grabs the next ball, watch his right hand as he lifts the cup. He's putting the old ball underneath.
I finally understand it! You see... Ida is a Dark Lord and teleports the balls, lemons, and petey to their prescribed cups. She works with Lance on Sundays and they met at a cafe shop where they began their schemes. No? Okay (._. )
So what?? dont you copy the elmsley count from Elmsley?, or the zarrow shuffle from Zarrow? all magicians copy routines, sleights, etc ALL THE TIME. And it works, Im sure those spectators did never see and will never see Dai Vernon doing his version. So what?
@screamoboy96 the mouse was in a part of his jacket at the back. when he makes a big deal about the ball in his hand at 3:44 hes actually taking the mouse out and placing it in his hand then goes on to place it under the cup at 3:40 just below the table.
It's not 10 balls and it's not edited. Magic isn't for everyone to enjoy. If your brain is bothered by being mislead and fooled so be it, but don't freak out. Everything is going to be ok. (4 balls and LOTS of sleight of hand practice)
The beauty of this trick is that it's simple to understand with the power of youtube - when focussing on his hands it's easy to tell when he puts the lemons and mice in - but his skill means it's no less impressive. Sheer poetry.
@Dogs9897 What last trick? The cups and balls is meant to be performed in its entirety. Also, why do people need tricks exposed? Magicians are not tricksters. They are entertainers. If you're not entertained, go watch something entertaining.
@cstviz I saw dai vernon's version of this trick and its much harder to detect what is going on. THis speaks about the skill level between lance burton and dai vernon. Lance may only be good live, but vernon can pull it off even on camera
the way he does the first trick is a combination of french drops and a method that i dont know the name of, but its similar to the one used in coin matrix. he has four balls to start if that helps you understand
@chikenadobo at 3:35 he takes the mouse out of his pocket, at 3:41 he puts it in the cup. At 3:47 he takes a lemon out of his pocket and at 3:52 he puts it in the cup. Its not a bad trick its just that its to obvious sometimes.
This is a nice trick, I'm no magician but I have seen a lot of cups and balls tricks and I have to say this is kinda poorly executed. A lot of the times you can se him put the balls in he's hands and under cups.
The first part of the trick was pretty simple but after "the interactive portion" it got pretty amazing... and I'll be damned if I can tell how and when the heck he managed to put two lemons and a mouse into those cups. :X
It's obvious what he does if you just look a bit closer. But he's very skilled. It's all about hiding stuff in your hands - let it be a mouse, a ball or a lime. And his pockets are full of that stuff.
I can tell look at his wriest how it work.. His movements are not that much relax but tense..I watch only one time and could tell watch the last act he does he push his wrist too much:( nothing special
I know how it's done but I do not get where he got the two lemons. I know that he got the mouse from his pocket but I don't know where the lemons came from. if some one knows please comment back.
Why do people feel the need to play "look at me, I think I'm smart, I know things?" Why can't you just let it be magic? He's doing something beautiful and artistic and you can't leave it alone, can you?
not very creative... look at the Dai Vernon version of it. It's almost as if he took the version, copied some of the jokes in there, copied the routine, but changed a bit the end...
I love the magic of Lance Burton. Ive seen his performance several time at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas. At the end of his performance he would meet and talk to the audience outside of his show room.
is it just coincidence or he is wearing a green suit and a blue shirt as part of his psychological manipulations? notice how two of the cups are green and blue as well
Really simple trick but Burton is so talented at speaking to audience that they don't even understant what's happening ! (except i don't know how to do the end !!!)
Ha I am doing something with my life! I alreddy have 2 peple who booked me for a show!! and come to think about it Penn and Teller showed how the cups and balls worked!!!!!
Basic sleight of hand, but this is done really smoothly, the wand in his hand makes him holding the balls seem natural, the ending was very unexpected though.
It's not about knowing how it's done, it's about the performance of the trick... Lance Burton just has a pretty lousy performance, not the best out there
fascinating of art ; Slide of hand majic ; It takes huge labour to learn this craft ; To do majic with props instruments that can be done by engineering; But the most fascinating form of art is "Slide od hand magic" Now mu head to these artist; Their labour to get mastered the craft by daily practice ; Wonderful sir ;
such a simple trick, but when it performed by a master it turns into an art.
good point Matthew
superb job on the wand spin vanish, nothing basic about THAT!!!
Yeah, I thought he was going to do the wand through hand. This was amazing. Best move of the entire routine.
just noticed that he does a body turn from Right to Left during the Wand Spin...I've not seen that B4.
An amazing performance, as a magician we know how it's done but the performance was amazing loved it.
Lance's take on a classic trick. I love to watch a professional's interpretation of classic magic tricks. Their performance is what sets them apart from the amateur.
Fantastic presentation of this routine. I love the extra surprises.
the third ball vanish is just excellent
At 3:19 slips in lemon in the green cup, at 3:40 mouse in the red cup and at 3:51 lemon in the blue one...
LANCE BURTON IS A BOSS
Juan Tamariz is my favorite magician,but this was well done. Lance is a boss. The rat was a nice touch. There is some obvious Vernon love here.
WHAT THE FUCK HOW DOES HE DO IT
i know how its done, but this is so amazing how skilled he is not doing any mistake.... which is very hard in front of so many people
Heelfan cant do it better, otherwise he wouldnt be revealing on youtube. At least lance didnt reveal in a publc forum whether it was used in jargon or not.
Saw him last Sat. (8/24/19) & met him afterwards. A class act all the way. He was on the Lane Burton & friends tour
Sleight of Hand at it's finest. Who cares whether 10 balls were used. Absolutely Beautiful Magic for those who Appreciate the Art of Magic. One of the Best in the business and why Mr. Burton made Millions in his career.

hes not that great to be honest , if you watch closely you can see him doing it , Paul Daniels is way better at this trick .
Yes most of this is standard Dai Vernon and he used some of Ammar's patter; not very original! If anyone wants to know how bits are done. just post here and I'll tell you.

u cant really compare... cause lance performs it with a different flare than penn and teller.. both rock ;)

such a simple trick masterfully performed and presented, which is the real magic, not the fact the balls disappear and re-appear

Basic sleight of hand, but this is done really smoothly, the wand in his hand makes him holding the balls seem natural, the ending was very unexpected though.
no he didnt, he just palmed the one from the middle..., this trick is fairly simple if you know magic
Actually, he just uses distraction and sleight of hand to place objects into the cups the good old fashion way, you can catch it if you are quick.
It's not about knowing how it's done, it's about the performance of the trick... Lance Burton just has a pretty lousy performance, not the best out there
@LucaTurilli89 its from 2 different shows. but they didnt cut the recording to do any changes, its just from two shows.. thats why the cup is moved
3:38 is when he puts the mouse in the cup. if you go back and watch his hands you can see when he puts the lemons in. that's some serious skill though
The cups and balls is the most simple trick of all. I think that even a small child can understand it (especially if he wathches this several times).
I know how the first part is done. Its easy, its all slight of hand
I'll explain for those interested, while I work out the rest of the video
the balls are ambidextrous... oops. check out dai vernon version of this trick. At least he uses the same word, in its correct meaning.. :)
i think every magician in the world knows how it´s done. but if the trick is so well done like here, you still will be amazed.
@JordMal bravo! i hate it when people reveal magic tricks online especially ones that are expensive and worth buying the info.
@JordMal Yup yup.Magic is not is for fun and enjoyment.Not for you to expose it and make it seem simple,when it's actually not.
@2:20 you can see him palm the ball from the blue cup and keep it in his hand and place it into the red cup @2:27
I know he was doing a french drop for the first part and throwing the balls under the cup after the misdirection.
fascinating of art ;
Slide of hand majic ;
It takes huge labour to learn this craft ;
To do majic with props instruments that can be done by engineering;
But the most fascinating form of art is
"Slide od hand magic"
Now mu head to these artist;
Their labour to get mastered the craft by daily practice ;
Wonderful sir ;
@JordMal Go Ahead and believe its real magic! Being Gullible = Bright Future
This trick is actually, three cups and 4 balls with the 4th ball always hidden in the hand of the magician
@MrMoo7 Yes I can, He clearly takes the mouse out his pocket and sneakes it under the cup at 3:12.
Wow really fucking original with the ball in the mouth joke. I wonder if he copied it from Ammar.
See what you said about watching the tricks and not the sleights is what i need to work on lol
@heelfan1234 dude whats the point of copying and pasting half of what you said to someone else
he just copied dai vernon's magic..search dai vernon here in utube u will see what am saying
@heelfan1234 He also copied the "that's close, three" from Dai Vernon but I don't blame him.
At 2:22 he grabs the ball fromn his arm pit and places it under the red cup.
Really smooth
i shouldn't be watching this at 3:00 in the morning drunk.... I just can't figure it out
This was good, but I liked Gazzo's version on Penn and Teller's Fool Us much better.
@QBuck1 I was just kidding lol
I do the same routine with fruit instead of a mouse
The trick itself is very easy to understand, however this guy does it amazingly!
The "D.V." wand spin was beautiful. Possibly better than the professor himself.
Is hat how he does it? IM just some random spectator trying to flaw his trick :/
@jerome96114 Well Johnny Ace Palmer produces 3 baby chickens under his cups!!!
he is just such a charming guy. i can' help but like him... in a non-gay way
I know how this is done and I think that Aida is not a random pick
what do you do when you get lemons? you do the cups and balls magic trick.
Pretty easy to figure out how it's done but insanely difficult to pull of.
Now do that, Criss Angel.
Thanks to pen and teller, I saw all his moves.
He made this trick to obvious... also you can watch when he puts the balls in the cups...
