This recipe is a GODSEND. Hubby has had several heart attacks and is not allowed fried food. Since they don't sell oven chips on my island we no longer eat chips. I am going to try this tomorrow --- it will be a nice surprise for him for Valentine's Day. Thank you so much.

You’ve gracefully, tactfully and rather fabulously knocked the crispy oven chips recipe out of the park by comparison to what’s been posted on TH-cam previously. Utterly divine. Top quality!

  • @mrdilligaf1968

Just a small tip , when you coat the chips with seasoning is to use a zip lock bag or a bowl with a lid and gently shake or tumble the chipsto evenly coat all the chips and each side of them in oil and seasoning.
Cheers n thanks for posting the vid

I tried them tonight for dinner... they worked perfectly!🤩 I don't use non stick trays any more, so I just rinsed the cut potatoes in cold water, then dried them off with kitchen towel before I coating them with cornflour... they didn't stick to the baking tray at all. As far as I know it's the excess starch released from cutting the potatoes that makes them stick.. remove it and it should be okay.

Hmm first time I made home wedges they come out nice but they stuck so I washed them the next time and used parchment paper too and nothing stuck obviously...
Next time I will just try washing of the starch and see if I can get away without using the parchment paper 😊

Keep my cupboards full of your staples...chopped tomatoes and tomato paste especially 😉. I like how you keep things as simple as possible for the reluctant cook. Many thanks....

Coat your chips with corn starch, seasonings and oil in a big bowl. Then dump chips onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and spread them around. Guaranteed not to stick and no need to coat baking sheet with oil. It works so well, that most times the baking sheet doesn't get dirty at all.

I have previously cooked in olive oil with paprika and thyme sprinkled on. Not now! I don't know if cooking olive oil will work, or to use vegetable oil? In any case, I will definitely sprinkle the thyme on. Of course, fresh thyme is the better for flavour, but the dried variety does similar, if oiled slightly. Another kitchen winner!
