- In this episode of Open Door, iconic fashion designer Michael Kors takes Architectural Digest on a tour of the Greenwich Village apartment he owns with husband, Lance LePere. The NYC apartment has been fully customized down to the hidden sliding doors that allow it to morph from open and loftlike to fully compartmentalized. Plus, it’s wrapped by a lush terrace beyond which lie unobstructed views south to the World Trade Center, west to the Hudson River, and yonder in every direction.

Yes! And even if the place is over the top money he seems not to take it for granted but enjoy all of it, which is how it should be. He worked for it, why shouldn’t he have a beautiful home filled with objects that he and his husband found together and love? I mostly watch videos dealing with small space living, I find the storage and living solutions endlessly creative and interesting, but every now and then it’s nice to take a break and spend time where money and space constraints are not an issue.

Used to work at one of the Michael Kors shop in duty free and had the pleasure of meeting him. He came in, thanked us all and shook our hand. He’s such a a pleasant guy and really humble as well.

To a New Yorker, this is the equivalent to a country estate - and probably costs more. This kind of property in Manhattan is VERY luxurious and only for the ultra ultra rich. I'm not exaggerating when I say that most apartments in this area are about the size of Kors' closet - and still costs an arm and a leg.
The designer has the story behind every item. Love that he knows his stuff and nothing is staged. This is his life.

I really like how he can talk about every piece in his home, it shows that he personally chose everything. I also greatly admire his valuing of memories. Most celebrities sadly have their homes decorated and maybe even don't know where pieces come from.
I admire people who live mindful and are grateful for things and beings they are surrounded with. And oh, there is so much taste and warmth in Kors' home! Such an inspiration.

I’m actually a bit surprised at how normal and relatable this guy is. He’s one of the most famous designers in the world and could afford a super luxurious apt in NY full of expensive art but yet he chose moderate furniture and photos of people that mean something to him. Very cool.

I always feel so sorry for people who live in NYC. Being proud about having a small patio and paying several fortunes for a smallish penthouse. Especially not wealthy people who live in slums and pay ridiculous amounts of money.
I'm a bowl lover, too. I refer to them as art objects. I so admire and appreciate the heart and soul a craftsman puts into his or her work. They're all unique and, generally, not expensive.

Love the different structures/ textures. The rooftop garden is also beautiful and a gift having it in the middle of NYC. I would love sitting in the smaller room, with the Kinsky picture, relaxing and enjoying the view.
