    Great tip and you did it in 56 seconds, so I didn't waste any of my life listening to pointless BS. :)

    Good video but way too short. Why didn't you tell us all about how you got the knife and what you've been using it for and how many aunts you've got and what you had for breakfast that day and your stance on Hegelian philosophy before demonstrating the wire stripper? Just kidding, thanks for the demonstration

      But where will I go for a discussion on Hegelian philosophy!?

    Well dawg my kitties and call me awestruck! I just purchased a SAK for my wife and I was showing her the various functions but had no clue how to utilize the wire stripper. And then I looked at my own knife which I've had since forever and found that same stripper for the first time. I futzed around for a few minutes and then came here and VIOLA! Thanks for the "less-than-a-minute" instructions. I feel somewhat akin to a fool...

    Great video and helped to explain something people want to know. However...that’s not QUITE the way you’re supposed to do it :) You use the notch for BOTH functions. You open up the short blade next to the stripper so they are both parallel with each other. Then you twist the wire and cut it and simply pull the wire towards you and all done in one motion :)

      I use my knife to strip wires all of the time. It's a little bit tricky with my SAK Trekker.

    I've had my Swiss Army knife since 1988 (50th anniversary commemorative REI knife, that's why i know). It's always followed me around. I don't always carry it, but it never leaves me. I've had to regrind the small blade from over-use opening boxes in a warehouse. I've done tons of wiring with it but it never occurred to me that this was a trick that could be used.
    I look forward to giving it a shot. Even though I have several wire stripping tools now, that are purposed, they aren't always in one's pocket.

    please dont get angry on me, but this is not the the way its intended to be used. it must be used to strip the wire at its end on a small portion. just put the end of the wire and push down completely. pull out again the tool and voila: u get a wire stripped at the end, ready to be soldered or whatever u intend. happy hollydays!

    Thank you so much for this. I'm very curious why my official Swiss army knife never had locking positions like you showed. I guess you have to be extra careful if it doesn't lock. Thanks for the explanation!

  • @timsummers870
    @timsummers870 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It depends on the SAK you have. The Swisschamp for example is too thick. However, even if you can’t align the knife blade and the wire stripper like that, you can do both things separately. First you cut the plastic thing and then strip the wire. But that technique is outstanding

    How very interesting; I always knew that the notch was for wire stripping, but as for the 90degree lock position and the fact that the main blade is always opposite the flathead/bottle opener...I just never, ever put 2+2 together...

    Actuallyyou only need to pull it with the notch. It works on atleast 1.0mm² cable. Haven't tried it with 1.5mm² or 2.5mm² yet.

    does this also work with a swiss champ? i mean the distance between the blade and the bottleopener is much farther. and the twisting should be rather cumbersome
    .Anyone tried this with a swiss champ?

      TheSCORPION BJJ so you're gonna carry a wire stripper with you everywhere so when your headlight harness gets a rubbed wire you can pull over, and fix it? This tool is meant to help you in a pinch, not to replace the proper tool in your tool box. When you're in the woods, a hatchet is too much work, but it's easier to carry that than a gallon of gas and a chainsaw.

    If you have to cut the cable... then strip it? I'd just use the knife.
    Everything else Victorinox puts on their knives are normally fantastic... Well excluding the parcel hook which is as useless as two tits on a Warthog.

    • @mehardin
      @mehardin ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the parcel hook all the time. I just used it last week to fish a zip tie though a hole. It had to go down one hole and back up another. The parcel hook was the perfect tool to get it up the second hole.

    не проще обрезать ножом на пальце и содрать изоляцию зубами? и смачно выплюнуть на пол))
