I would add all the Batman Arkham games as well. Those games literally paved the way for multiple modern day games and created a brilliant combat system. Arkham Asylum, city, origins and knight are absolutely phenomenal games. You can even run Arkham Asylum and city on old PCs with less than 1gb graphic card and you can run Arkham Origins on minimal settings with 128mb VRAM as long as you have 8GB of normal RAM.
Absolutely. From the graphics, the story, to the combat mechanics. Can keep you engaged for hours if you're into Batman! I wonder if they are making a similar next game in the series... Did you play Gotham Knights (hope I am saying it right)? I thought it was all right, on my PS5, but kind of lost interest some months ago. Might get back to it. It's just a different feel without Batman (but was enjoying it)...
Reason I clicked this video was to see if Mad Max was one of the ones listed. The crunchy and satisfying melee and car combat elements alone keep it in my regular rotation!

Yeah, I played all of these games except RDR (only one not released on PC) and I can recommend them all. Well... maybe except Black Flag, that one didn't click with me I didn't like the setting and focus on ship battles. There are tons of games I want to revisit, but there is no time for that. There are few interesting picks you may not know about, but that are definitely worth playing: Jade Empire, Enslaved Odyssey to the West, No One Lives Forever, Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Clive Barker's Undying, Risen, The Chronicles of RIddick Escape from Butcher Bay, Vietcong, Tron 2.0.

Sleeping Dogs was great. Sniped it like 8 years ago in steam summer sale. Worth it. A bit short for open world, but for the story a good length. Remembering it took me around 30hrs.
Playing Ac Black Flag now, it's so chill to just explore with a ship, this makes me wonder why there are no other pirate games at this level, its in a league of its own, aztec puzzles, hidden treasure, sea shanties, some about this game feels so comforting and all the other ship battle and melee fight mechanics are decent but it is such an experience which you might never get in any other game.
I personally preferred Max Payne 2. Yes, the first one is absolutely amazing and much longer than the second one, but the sequel is just beyond words and I still play through it at least once a year. Holy moly, those games are good.
Great list ! Have played the majority and agree they are all classics. My further suggestions would be: 1. Mass Effect 2 - Epic Space Opera - Recruit a team to go on a suicide mission. 3rd person shooter. Great story and voice acting. Addictive gameplay. No need to play the first. 2. The Witcher 2 - Just as intricate and detailed as Witcher 3. I think I enjoyed it more than the latter. No need to play the first. 3. Dead Space - Amazing sci fi survival horror game. 4. Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic - basically Baldurs Gate 3 but in Star Wars. Epic tier game. Avoid spoilers if possible. 4. I would definitely add the original Fable to the list. It's an absolute classic. Other than that, if you want something similar to Just Cause, I have pretty fond memories of Mercenaries 2, though I hear most people praise the original even more. As for AC, the AC2 - Brotherhood - Revelations trilogy was the absolute peak of this series and it's absolutely worth a revisit. And if you want something more story-driven, the Mass Effect trilogy is just fantastic, and I hear the Dragon Age series that they released in parallel is equally as good, though with a fantasy instead of a sci-fi setting. I even liked ME:Andromeda, though more for its open world and familiarity than anything else. It was basically what they envisioned the planet exploration in the original ME to be, but couldn't realise it due to hardware limitations at the time. I also enjoyed the new Deus Ex games a lot, though I can't speak for the original. Also, if you want something GTA-like, try Saint Row 2. It's pretty grounded compared to the later entries, but still has that bonkers side to it.
I do love Witcher 3. However, recently I found Deus Ex pretty good. The thing is I bought Human Revolution back in 2013 from GameFly, but didn't redeem it right away since I didn't have a good computer to play it. In 2015 I bought a HP Envy 750 with GTX970 and I decided to install it, but found it out of business. Luckily they sent me to Steam. I played for a few minutes, but I didn't get it at that time. I thought I just shoot around like Doom, and failed. This year, 2024, the next version Mankind Divided is free and I enjoyed the graphics a lot and started to like it. Then I restarted Human Revolution, and understood what to expect. It was a great game! A lot of readings of emails in the game, but very fun. The other legendary game is definitely Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Max Payne 1 and 2 will get remakes sometime soon. Remedy Entertainment has just been making awesome games lately - Alan Wake, Control and Quantum Break.
Bro! Halo CE, 2 & 3. Those are the best games still after these ages. CE was way ahead of time with its music, gameplay, graphics, maps and artifacts, communication etc
I thought you were going to bring up actual old games... Thief Gold and Thief 2, pure amazing, perfect, games. Age of Empires 2. The Dig. Stuff like that. Those are all amazing games that should always be replayed
Oh god I'm feeling old... Almost any of these camo out after I stopped playing games and won't even run smoothly on my laptop. :-D How about real classics? Half Life 1, Unreal, Rune (a real unknown hidden gem!) or Gothic 1-3? Those all set really new standards in their time. Maybe not Rune, hardly anyone knows about it, but it's got a really simple but great melee combat system imho.
I loved both episodes of "No one lives forever" from 2000 and 2002, but they seem to be quite hard to her hold of these days. Cheesy FPS spy games set in the sixties, with some hilarious dialogue.
The most fun and underrated game I ever played is Nuclear Throne! It has pixel graphics which I hate, but the actual gameplay, mechanics, guns, randomization, destruction, abilities etc are just all amazing. It’s crazy well balanced and you can only die from lack of skill. And you can survive everything if you are skilled enough which makes the game very rare. It is also insanely challenging at the same time. And weapons become crazier the deeper you go until you can basically nuke entire stages. It is INSANE. I keep trying to recommend it to everyone I know but nobody ever takes it seriously because it has pixel graphics but man I am telling you. It is WAY more satisfying to play and succeed in and finish than ALL the big 3D games for me 😂👏 And again I hate pixel graphics lol, so just ignore the graphics. The game still has some visual charm and style so its visual style is like good pixel art but still. If big 3D games played like and had the depth of Nuclear Throne they would be amazing.
well since you included Max Payne and Sleeping dogs, i'll give this list a 9/10. The Witcher 3 does not need to be on a list like this, everyone knows what its about so -1 point there :) There for everyone reading this I'll add one of my fav games: Mafia 1, the 2002 original. (Or the 2020 remake if the outdated graphics of the original are an issue).
I would add all the Batman Arkham games as well. Those games literally paved the way for multiple modern day games and created a brilliant combat system. Arkham Asylum, city, origins and knight are absolutely phenomenal games.

great list just picked up prince of persia for game cube! and i almost always have Sleeping Dogs installed on my playstation just in case that itch kicks in. if i werent re playing GTA 4 id totally be up on that again. the hand to hand combat is so satisfying. hell all of it is, obviously.
Sleeping dogs deserves a sequel.
It's pretty grounded compared to the later entries, but still has that bonkers side to it.
far cry 3 is a real masterpiece MAN ITS AMAZING i have completed its story about 5 times and played about 150+ hours
I am surprised nobody mentioned Mafia 1 (definitive edition) and 2. Underrated game and I would recommend anyone to play the mafia series.
Silent Hill2/2001
MGS3/2004
GOW 1/2005
DMC3/2005
RE4/2005
Fatal Frame 3/2005
Shadow of the rome/2005

Kudos for mentioning Prototype! Underrated game.
All Metro and dishonored games both franchises are amazing
Oh god I'm feeling old... Almost any of these camo out after I stopped playing games and won't even run smoothly on my laptop. :-D
How about real classics? Half Life 1, Unreal, Rune (a real unknown hidden gem!) or Gothic 1-3?
Those all set really new standards in their time.
Maybe not Rune, hardly anyone knows about it, but it's got a really simple but great melee combat system imho.
I loved both episodes of "No one lives forever" from 2000 and 2002, but they seem to be quite hard to her hold of these days. Cheesy FPS spy games set in the sixties, with some hilarious dialogue.
Prototype is godly
SIFU
BATMAN: Arkham City
Prince of Persia(2): Warrior Within
THE FALL of MAX PAYE (MAX PAYNE 2)
L.A. NOIRE
It is WAY more satisfying to play and succeed in and finish than ALL the big 3D games for me 😂👏
And again I hate pixel graphics lol, so just ignore the graphics. The game still has some visual charm and style so its visual style is like good pixel art but still. If big 3D games played like and had the depth of Nuclear Throne they would be amazing.
Batman Arkham City or Knight everyone(or you can go with City) ?
Assassin's Cree 2.... legendary Ezio Auditore adventure...still my fav char in the series 🥵🥵
Excellent list, excellent video! Liked and subscribed ☺️
Thanks for the sub!
coincidentally i started and finished Rise of the Tomb Raider again after its initial release. it holds up. (and runs beatuifully on the deck)
Dante's inferno, enslaved! These two got me hooked up 😂
Thank you , thanks a lot my fellow gamer . It was a beautiful ride down the memory lane . ❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
well since you included Max Payne and Sleeping dogs, i'll give this list a 9/10. The Witcher 3 does not need to be on a list like this, everyone knows what its about so -1 point there :) There for everyone reading this I'll add one of my fav games: Mafia 1, the 2002 original. (Or the 2020 remake if the outdated graphics of the original are an issue).
Mafia (2002) , Dishonored , GTA 4 , Assassin’s Creed (2, brotherhood , revelations) , ARMA 3 , Call of Juarez (all 3 parts) , Fallout 4 (just because of mods), Hotline Miami 1 & 2, L.A. Noire , Max Payne 3
Oblivion. My favorite ES!
